I applied for credit card from Standard chartered Bank. They sent the card but I did not get it because I was not in home
That time. After that I got many calls to pay the credit card dues, I told them many times that I did not get the card and mailed them also.
After six-seven months they informed me you pay Rs 7500 for settlement it , otherwise they will register my name in civil court.

SCB has updated on cbil a recovery of rs 65172 from me since 4-8-2005.
There was a dispute due to wrong crediting by the bank to my another account. This was pointed out and their accounts person confirmed it. The reconciliation done by them is enclosed.
subsequently no letter was sent by them and claiming such amount and tarnishing the image of the customer by such an act in very much un business like.

Hi I have just taken a Standard Chartered Credit Card and want to warn you all against going for it. There are so many hidden charges. For expample the late payment charges are so high and so ambiguous that no matter what you will have to bear them every month.

Apart from that the interest charges, they are around whopping 40%.

I am going through this hell but somehow will close it this month. Just want rest of you all to not to fall into this trap, specially the youngsters out there.

Ref my Manhattan Platinum C.C [protected] was declined at a merchant outlet in Jeddah KSA. Inspite of having informed the bank that i would be in KSA from 14th to 30th April and maybe a few days more, the card was declined. I got in touch with the Customer Service on 2nd May from Jeddah and offered my verification details to the officer concerned and also on IVR twice. Somehow, there being a glitch, it was not accepting my correctly punched details. I asked the officer concerned to check her record that i am in Saudi Arabia and that she could ask me the verification details. However at that point of time, she refused to do so and also the line got disconnected.
This has caused a huge embarrassment to me and my family as also i was unable to pick up the products which i needed to purchase. I've preserved the two declined receipts for amounts of SAR 15,007 & 7,000, which i could forward to you if needed. I would like you to look into it and get back to me as the usage unreliability of your card has set my mind not to take your card abroad ever but take take C.C of other banks, which i possess.

Open Letter to standard chartered bank

                Hi Team,

I have a salary account in Standard Chartered Bank, I must say I am receiving the worst banking experience with StanC in India. These International Banks are known for their online banking services and this was the main reason when I choose this bank, while I had multiple options of opening salary account in different banks.

Now the funniest and most pathetic service I received was their Online Banking money transfer to other banks is temporarily disabled for the last 2 months (March & April 2011). Here first of all I don’t understand what they mean by ‘temporarily disabled’ service when it is disabled for the last two months. Isn’t it funny? When I called the customer care, they had nothing but to say 'Sorry for the Inconvenience'. They said their network has been hacked and the team is working to rectify it. I am also a Software Engineer and understood the Bugs in Online Network and how they were being resolved. If StanC cannot solve the most important part of their online banking for two months, it’s really a big shame on the Management and IT team.

Also try to make your Customer Care service better, since I cannot wait 10-15 mins on hold to talk to a Customer Care Executive.

And the most important thing is that make your all employees be aware of the company policies. Let me explain why I am telling this. At the time of opening the salary account, your bank representative offered life time free Manhattan Credit Card. I asked that I have already using Titanium Super Value Credit card and if I want can I get this free Manhattan Credit Card also? He said yes, you can. So I have applied. After 20-25 days I got a welcome call from StanC saying your Manhattan Credit application is in process and you will get it when the process got over. After one month, I called Customer Care, waited for 15 mins and then asked the representative about the status of the card. After few minutes of analyzing, he said you cannot have both Titanium Super Value Credit card and Manhattan Credit Card at a time. I got surprised. Is this type of corporate communication you maintain in your bank??

I know you try to escape just by saying 'Sorry for the Inconvenience caused’. Please raise a concern about this and try to learn from other banks.

Thanks for your time for reading the mail

                Thanks

Standard Chartered Bank — Adding of comments temporarily disabled.

"Adding of comments temporarily disabled." I am getting this error message whenever i am posting any comment on any album photo o any of my friend. Please help me. How to solve this Problem.
I completely agree with what has been said by djkotch.. In my last company my salary a/c was with axis bank and I used to do almost all my transactions through net-banking .. for anything and everything I was using the online banking... then I changed the company and I had to go for a new salary a/c as this company have tie-up with only standard charted bank.. My a/c was opened and now my salary (my only source of income) comes to this a/c... however for last three months standard charted bank have disabled their online transfer facility and now for me it has become nightmare to pay all the bills (be it credit card, phone or electricity bills)... Now a days net banking is considered to be the most important facility by any bank and I don't understand how the management of this bank is unable to come-up with any solution for its online facilities.. I am trying hard to get my salary a/c in some other bank (subject to my company agreement)... In any case I would discourage anyone for opening any a/c in standard charted bank... It gave me the worst banking experience ever..

                  ATTN: Friend,

With due respect and humanity, I write to you this proposal.I am the manager of bill and exchange foreign remittance department of Standard Chartered Bank - London . I am writing following the impressive information garderd about you in the internate site of your country. I believed it will of an interest to you, In my department, we discovered an abandoned sum of ($7.500,000.00) (Seven million Five Hundred Thousand us dollars only) in an account that belongs to one of our foreign customer Late Mr.Ian Hawks worth, who died along with his entire family in Japan Earthquake Tsunami 11 Mar 2011 The morning after Japan was struck by the most powerful earthquake to hit the island nation in recorded history and the tsunami it unleashed, at least 350 people are dead and hundreds missing after a tsunami caused by a huge 8.9-magnitude quake devastated north-east of Japan.

Since we got information about his death , we have been expecting his next of kin to come forward and claim his money because we cannot release it unless somebody applies for it as next of kin or relation or Cousin to the deceased as indicated in our banking guidelines and policies but unfortunately we learned that all his supposed next of kin or relation died alongside with him at the earthquake leaving nobody behind for the claims.

It is there fore upon this discovery that I and other officials in my department now decided to make this business proposal to you and release the money to you as the next of kin or relation to the deceased for safety and subsequent disbursement since nobody is coming forth and we don't want this money to go into the Bank treasury as unclaimed Bill, if no one comes for it. According to our Banking policies and guideline here which stipulates that if such money remained unclaimed after four years, the money will automatically be transferred into the Bank treasury as unclaimed fund.

The request of foreigner as next of kin in this business is occasioned by the fact that the customer was a foreigner and a British cannot stand as next of kin to a foreigner. In this regard we requested that you will stand as the Cousin of the deceased to receive the fund in his account. We agree that 30% of the total money will be for you as foreign partner, in respect to the provision of a foreign account, 10% will be for reimbursement of any expenses incurred during the curse of the transaction and 60% would be for me and my colleagues.

There after you received total money, I and my colleagues will visit your country for disbursement according to the percentages indicated. Therefore to enable the immediate trnansfer of this fund to you as arranged, you must apply first to the bank as relation or Cousin of the deceased indicating your bank name, your bank account number, your private telephone and fax number for easier and effective communication and location where the money will be remitted to you.

Upon receipt of your reply, I will send to you by fax or email the text of the application. I will not fail to bring to your notice that this transaction is 100% hitch free and that you should not entertain any atom of fear as all required arrangements have been made for the transfer. Please for the confidentiality of this transaction and my self don't le the bank to know that I know anything at all about this transaction until the funds reflects in your designated bank account as will be submitted.e-mail address at

                    Sending wrong information to CIBIL

                    Address: Bangalore, Karnataka

I had a Standard Chartered Credit card in the year 1996. On 11th April I paid all my dues, called customer care and cancelled the card. Destroyed the card at my end and moved on in life. I moved to my own house, had to travel to US on job for 5 years. Now when recently a credit card was refused I checked my CIBIL report and it shows that I am a defaulter. And the overdue is 1,64,300.00.

I guess there should be a credit report...

I had settled my credit card account almost 8 years back and now today I am getting calls from the banks recovery agents that you have an outstanding of over 5 lakh rupees. I told them that it was settled long time back but they do not listen to anything. I am unable to produce the settlement letter that was issued by the bank as same was very old and I have destroyed all old documents which were more than 5 years old. While doing so I never had an idea that it will be required again.

Now please advise me what to do as I am mentally disturbed and unable to concentrate on my work.

For how long one has to keep a settlement letter or any such type of document

First of all did you settle the account 8 years ago or close the account 8 years ago. Both of this means different things. If you have settled the amount there must have been a waiver on your account and the rest would have been paid by you. This can be dealt with if you have a settlement letter along with the payment receipts . If you have lost the letter then it becomes a difficult situation to resolve m because if you are disputing you are supposed to provide the proof for the same. Now if you have closed the account have you paid all the dues completely on the account and after that have you intimated the bank your intention to close the card account. In this case if have you received a confirmation letter for the same. If not there is a possibility that even when you are not using the account after paying all the dues the bank must have charged you a renewal fee on your card and that money could have grown into any astronomical or fancy amount today. Please contact me by mail or send call me, we can investigate and resolve this issue. Our advise to you is not leave this problem unattended, this could be a larger problem tomorrow.

I was holding a standard chartered credit card approx 10 years back at Bangalore. There were some wrong debits like late fees payment and interest on interest charges which i in person went to the bank and spoken to the branch incharge of koramangala branch at that point of time. I do remember that i have made all the payment pertaining to the purchase which i made and cancelled the card by cutting the same into 4 pieces and handed over the the branch personal.

I was holding the card details and statement upto next 4 to 5 years where in no one from the bank has approached to me, due to which i have thrown away all the documents and currently i don't have any information other than the card no. and limit of the card.

Suddendly i have received a call from one of the so called collection agent at time and at times stating himself as high court lawyer etc stating that i owe an amount of Rs.2.32lacs to the bank and refuses to give any kind of his where about of him and the detail brekaup of the outstandings etc.

He has been calling my wife, collegues, friends and relatives and using abuse language to all of them by threatening them by various means. This kind of illtreatment is not accepted by so called renowed bank and if this continue reputation of the bank would definetly go down and no one would like to get engaged with your Bank.

I have launched a police compliant in this regard and would be taking up this case very seriously as the Bank directly or indirectly is responsibile for this kind of behaviour with its cutomers and defaming my reputation in the public in front of my collegues family & relatives etc.

                      Dear Raja

I have already posted several comments on issue like this. Generally people perception is that once you want to get away from the card people impulsively react by paying all the dues as of the last statement and immediately cut the card into four pieces and throw them or hand over them to the bank either physically or by mail. Now you will have to carefully understand that credit card accounting is a dynamic account and the balance changes every day. if you pay the bill as of the last card statement it definitely means that you are still liable to pay the bank for the rest of the day that is from the last statement date to the date of making the payment. This could be a very small amount but this remains on your account as payable to the bank. Then the next thing is when you don't pay they will still charge you interest on the same and also add a late payment fee, and as this goes on increasing you will reach a point that the outstanding is over your credit limit and at this point they start adding overlimt charges also few banks add renewal fees on this as well. So don't be surprised that Rs 4000 has become 3 lakhs in ten years mathematically it is possible. However banks are liberal and understand that this can happen, you can negotiate with them or take services from any company like our who is into debt management and counseling. Our contact details

That SC bank branch repeatably missing to ask me the information which was necessary for the application of home loan/mortgage for my new purhcased flat. They asked me to return back to the branch couple of times to re-submit the document or signature as they simple missed out and misunderstood their interal procedure. It didn't not waste my time (as i am working overseas) and SC bank also failed to complete the date of the mortgage registration in the bank that making me lose some interest benefit in this loan program. SC bank
As a service provider, Standard Chartered Bank is not able to fulfill the commitment of Mortgage One service owing to its internal error in procedure. They should be liable to this fault but they didn't.

And, the staff who handled this was lack of sense of customer-orient and keep making me nervous and anxious.
i definitley agree with this as SC bank is not professional in customers services over home loan.

                              Hi,
This is regarding my credit card - Manhattan Credit card which I had in 2005. I have always paid all my dues on time without any default and I have used the card from 2004 to 2005 for more than a year. My card has been discontinued as well in 2006. I had an outstanding of Rs.1735/- with the bank but dint get the credit card statements since May 2005 and therefore, missed the payment since then. Today, after a span of 6 years I can see a huge outstanding of Rs 30000 + shown in my CIBIL report. I dont have any dispute/outstanding with any other bank. Now, I am in a fix because my CIBIL history is spoiled because of this. I wanted to apply for a loan for the first time and I am shocked to see my credit card history. Therefore, I will sincerely appeal to help me out in this respect and let me know what to do. I want to settle the amount amicably with the bank but they are insisting me to pay the entire amount of Rs 30000+ and then only they will remove my name from CIBIL. Thats a huge amount and I cant imagine my outstanding amount going up to 16 times in a span of 6 years.

I will advice people not to take credit cards and specially from STANDARD CHARTERED BANK, they are total frauds. In spite of repeatedly telling them to settle the amount amicably, they are insisting me to pay this huge amount which is totally unreasonable. I dont know what to do but will advice others sincerely not to subscribe to STANDARD CHARTERED BANK credit cards.

I disagree with the STANDARD CHARTERED BANK's behaviour and attitude. They have put such a huge penalty.
Standard Chartered Bank is the worst bank in the world
Standard Chartered Manhattan are no less than robbers. This is just for some other people who can be aware before getting bank account or credit card.

I have posted a couple of comments earlier on this kind of issue, you will have to understand that there is no such list like CIBIL negative list. If you have settled that should be visible on your CIBIL report, however if you want us to solve this issue please feel free to call me with more details.

I have applied for credit Card. It was told to me that doccuments are fine and i will get the card within 15 working days. But nobody has contacted me after getting the doccument. The agent who has picked my doccument has kept his phone off. When i asked this query to customer care , they are not clearly answering my query. Once they hear my name, next time they are not picking up the call. Its really harashing. I am really upset with the bank customer care service. If you cant provide service, admit that. Why to avoid??

                                      Regards,
                                      Satrujit
