i am working with standard chartered bank as credit risk officer in collection deptt. since 2008, when i joined SCB i felt good but now i am very tensioned because of " EMPLOYEE HARASSMENT " our shift timing is 7.30am to 5.20 pm. cub move time is 5.30 pm .......they forced to employee for strectch after 11 of every month and there are no arrangement for drop. 20 days back i gone through with a critical sitiuation that day i were left my office arround 8.00 pm due to strectch and reached nearest bus stop ( shankar chowk ) i did wait arround 1:45 hours than after i got a commercial cub, his driver was drunked and i was flummoxed that time. i recahed my home arround 11.30 pm and than changed my dress and than took dinner after i looked at watch .......time was 12.30,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,for next day i started my day at 5:00 am ( every day i wake up arround 5:00 am ) so we all employee are very tensioned bcoz we can't spent the time with our family and friends ..... even we can't take off bcoz most of the time " we are here on sunday " we are six members in my family and all depends on me only so i can't leave this job...........we complaint many times to " HR DEPTT " but still repeating same ...........

WHEN I CONTACT THEIR TELEBANKING EXECUTIVE THEY INFORMED THAT MY ACCOUNT IS ON HOLD WITH DEBIT BALANCE OF RS 1465/- IN ACCOUNT DUE TO LOW BALANCE MAINTANCES AND MY ACCOUNT IS TRANSFERED TO THEIR DWARK BRANCH AT H.L WINGS POCKET 4, PLOT NOT 2, SECTOR 11 DWARKA NEW DELHI-110 075,

    I WOULD LIKE INFORM YOU THAT WITHOUT ANY INFORMATION HOW THEY HAVE TRANSFERED MY ACCOUNT FROM CONNAUGHT PLACE TO DWARKA WITHOUT MY CONSENT AND HOW THEY CAN DEBIT CHARGES FOR MINIMUM BALANCE WHEN MY ACCOUNT IS ZERO BALANCE SINCE 1997.

      Sir,
      I was using a Gold credit card of Standard Chartred Bank since 2008 . the total payment was made according to the settlement done by the Call center executive through cash payment .
      I was promised to get a NOC from Bangalore off. very soon.
      But , for the last one year the lady who has promised is not picking her mobile . her no. is [protected].
      on the other hand i have been receiving the threatening calls by a lady whose no. is 43088214.
      She uses very harsh language & ask me to pay Rs. 88000/- immediately. She even make the calls in my office & talks to my subordiantes in very rudely. I am feeling insulted & harassed.
      Pl. help me immediately.

        I was given a standard chartered bank credit card. for which bills never came on time and still it is the duty of customer to go pay without fail.
        It was promised that there will be no surcharge on the bill at any petrol pumps but to you kind information on both the transactions bank levied the charges and not willing to revert it back and a customer i should pay them with asking or questioning.
        So for last 8 months they are raising the bill and adding insterest in it .
        As a customer I had asked the bill which as my mistake because they are not suppose to give you the bill.
        So I have given the option that I can still pay for whatever I had used without the service charges.

        I have given them in writting also for this.

        Need the help for getting this closed.

          I am really very much annoyed with the services stan chart is use to practice.
          If fact i have a strong believe that stan chart not only ditch people but it can go to any extent to cheat the customers to really stole the money from there pocket as and when possible.

          Its not only me who has a really bad reputation about stan chart service, i know many peoples who are really suck of Stan chart.

          I have requested for closure of my credit card some where in year 2006 and till date it has not been closed .. how every stan chart keep on adding arbitrary charges.. on my account.
          I have not spent even a single penny from my credit card account from yr 2006 .. and in jan 2009 more than rs. 11,000 have been deducted from my account as payment of credit card..
          After keep on requesting for card closure at least more than 1000 time.. now again i checked in my CIBIL report .. my credit card out standing is more than 700 rupees.
          I am really surprised and shocked .. how could it be possible someone is not using a card from last 4 year.. and still Stan chart is keep on adding the charges..
          Really surprising is.. when i log on to stan chart web site to check my account detail.. no Credit card is being shown under my name.. no credit card statement no transaction no outstanding.. and above all no active card..but of course .. there is an open account to which Stan chart keep on adding arbitrary charges.. amazing banking.
          I haven't experienced such a while in US or europe.. but only with Stan chart India..

          welcome to India dude, if you are aware coz of CARD bill these guys cannot do much with US customer now so they are trying to offset that revenue loss from India.

          Anyways don't pay them a dime rather send a mail to banking ombudsmen and warn the stancy of criminal law suite for fraud, etc etc your black coat would be able to tell you more.

          RESPECTED SIR,
          I HAD DEPOSITED CHEQUE AT CHEQUE DEPOST MACHINE OF STANDARD CHARTERED BANK ON 9TH AUGUST 2010 AT 8:37 PM. THE BANK HAS SENT ME A SMS STATING THAT MY CHEQUE IS DEPOSITED ON 12TH AUGUST 2010 AND WILL BE CREDITED TO MY ACCOUNT AFTER REALISATION THE BEST PART IS THAT THE SMS IS SENT ON 11TH AUGUST 2010. ON VISITING THE BANK BRANCH AT CENTRE POINT, S.V.ROAD, SANTACRUZ (W), ON 12TH AUGUST 2010 AT 9:30 AM THERE WAS NO RESPONSIBLE PERSON TO ANSWER TO MY QUERRY. THERE WAS NO BRANCH MANAGER OR HIS DEPUTY TO ANSWER. THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO ANSWER MY QUERRY THAT HOW MANY DAYS ARE ALLOWED BY THE RBI TO CREDIT CHEQUE AFTER CLEARANCE TO MY ACCOUNT. IT IS MY HUMBLE REQUEST TO LOOK INTO THIS MATTER AND OBLIGE. I WOULD REQUEST YOU TO DO THE NEEDFUL AS THE BANK IS NOT FOLLOWING THE GUILDELINES STIPULATED BY THE RBI.

          Initially bank has wrongly debited the bank charges of Rs. 375. I had paid the total principal amount except the charges. Bank had multiplied the charges in each month, & now its reach to 5000 Approx. Bank has registered my name as defaulter in CIBIL. I want to clear my record.
          I have a standard chartered credit card. It was delivered to my home and for two months I did not receive the statement either on mail or at my home. I called in to check about it and they have my email address and my home address both updated incorrectly. I asked them to update my email address but they want to know so many things as per security. They wanted to know about my last payment which I did not remember and then they refused to update my email address. Now I have got my card cancelled out of frustration nd still they are not helping me out and rather sending me messages about the pending bill. I am ready to clear my dues if the send me the statement so that I should check whether all transactions are made by me. They are also posting late payment charges and interest in the amount abut I did call them before the last due date.
          I would need help regarding this.

            Hi,

            I have got Standard Chartered Manhattan credit card with me.

            Last month i had done purchasing of Rs 43700/- using this card and the due date for which was 16th June 2010. I made a payment of Rs 40000/- wel before the due date but while paying Rs 4700/-, i missed the due date. So logically/ethically/legally, Standard Chartered should have charged me interest only on Rs 4700/- but to my surprise, they have charged me interest of Rs 1367/- on whole amount (i.e. 43700/-) .
            When i called at their customer care, they said that this is the only procedure of calculation of interest. But my question is why should i pay interest on the amount which i had paid on time i.e. Rs 40000/-?

              It has come to my notice that several banks are charging service tax on interest and finance charges on credit card payments. In certain cases although the nomenclature is clearly mentioned as “Interest” still the bank has charged service tax..In my case as I happen to practise in this area, I protested to two banks namely HDFC Bank and Standard Charetered Bank and both these bank's charge service tax on Interest/ Finance charges and also maintain that what they are doing is correct.
              I think this situation needs immediate correction. The crux of the matter is that most Banks have an unwritten policy to charge service tax on almost all services which they provide probably to be on the safe side to avoid entering into litigation with the department. They end up charging the customer, the common man who rarely has the time or in most cases the know-how to question these charges and when someone questions the charge they hastily refund the amount.
              I emailed the abovementioned banks saying that charging service tax on interest/ finance charges is not in order and the replies received from these banks were unsatisfactory and virtually stated that these charges are done as per the “Service Tax Provisions” none of which was quoted in the letter.

              To clarify the position as per Service tax law, the relevant provisions are listed as follows:
               As per Section 65(105)(zzzw) of Finance Act, 1994, "credit card or other payment card services" are "services provided or to be provided to any person, by any other person, in relation to credit card, debit card, charge card or other payment card service, in any manner." The value for the taxable service will be the gross amount charged by the service provider for such services. The basic element of taxability under this head is that the transaction should amount to “Service”, which is not satisfied in the case of Interest charged on delayed payments.
               There is another head which is relevant to this discussion i.e. "Banking and Other Financial Services". As per Section 65(105)(zm) introduced in the Finance Act, 1994, "Banking and Other Financial Services" are "Services provided or to be provided to a customer by a banking company or a financial institution, including a non-banking financial company, or any other body corporate or any other person in relation to banking and other financial services."
               In terms of Section 65(12) of the Act, banking and financial services specifically include lending of money.
               Any loan given by a bank, even though it is a short term loan under a credit card is lending by a bank and as such this service will be more appropriately be covered under the head "Banking and other Financial Services".
               Finally, for calculating the taxable value of the services, as per clause ( iv ) Rule 6(2) of Service Tax (Determination of Value) Rules 2006, any "interest" charged on the loans advanced cannot be included.
              Under such circumstances, the bank cannot charge any service tax either on the repayment amounts or the interest charged on the principal amounts.
              Service tax can only be charged on the amounts collected as their charges for providing the loan , under heads such as `administrative expenses', `commissions', `service charges', processing fees etc.
              I feel this situation needs to be addressed and corrected and someone needs to start the process and hence this article so that when you are making your credit card payments please make sure that you are not paying service tax on interest charged on delayed payments.
              I am forwarding this complaint to you so that you can kindly look into this matter to get the situation corrected, so that the common man does not end up paying amounts which are not due to the government.

              Credit Card Standard Chartered Bank — Wrongly asking for payment

              Dear Sir / Madam,
              The letter is being written to complaint towards one of the branch located in Delhi.
              The Delhi branch people for last 10-15 days are constantly giving me a call for credit card payment of Mr.Sudhir Sadanand Menon, Everytime I have told them that this number [protected] does not belong to Sudhir Sadanand Menon please verify your database instead making corrections in the database they are constantly giving me call.I have recevied the call from the following number[protected],[protected] &[protected].
              I request you to please escalate the matter and solve the issue at the earliest.I hope this letter will be given high importance and neccessary actions will be taken, so that in future no other person is harassed mentally

              For your information till date I have never applied for any type of credit card from any of the bank

                In Dec 2001 Outstanding was closed. Now when I applied for a housing loan, the institution says there is a finding from CIBIL report that credit card outstanding continues to be shown as overdue to Standard Chartered Bank.

                I am suprised to note this.

                Please let me know how take up this matter to proper authorities.

                  I had an account with Standard Charted Bank two year back. my saving account num. is [protected]

                  on 1aug 2008 i tried to widraw the money( Rs. 1300) from Hdfc ATM which is situatated at 14 sector but i didnt recive the cash and card was came back from machine without transiction so i again try the same action.
                  this time i got the money .but when i saw the transiction amount was deduct tow time there . i was shoked instant i inform to the bank by his help line num . they suggest me to go to the bank and submit thye dispute declaration form.

                  .but due to bank holiday ( Sunday ) i was not able to sumbmit the complaint so on monday 3 aug i submit the dispute declaration fof as they say me on help line num.the executive gave me 15 days time to solve this problem.
                  after 20 days when they didnt gave any responce so i again go to bank in between of these 20 days i regularly touch with the cusumer care of standard charted bank.
                  again i met with the executive and he said he already will send the details to HDFC bank and my money will transfer to my account .
                  but after pasting the 45 days there is no reply .the customer care exe as well as bank exe didnt gave any satisfactry answer .
                  i was really upset . i am doing job in AEIGS BPO . and getting very low salary from there . Rs. 13000 is avery big amount for me.
                  i spend enough money to call the custmer care exe of standard charted. finally they said to me that transiction was right and HDFC bank will send the latter for the same .
                  after 2 year i didnt recieved any latter or document for the same .
                  i already stop the deal with that bank .
                  i jst want taht please take some action against bank . its not the matter of Rs. 1300. its the matter of services the bank make us fool in the name of services.

                    I was a loyal customer of Standard chartered bank for more than 8 years 2 years back it offered me personal loan and with out sending any DD they started the deduction. While this was informed regarding this they informed me that they will offer issue me a loan cancelling the old loan. They kept their promise without cancelling the previouse deduction. Now clearing all my payments i sent Chq to Standard chartered bank by courrier on 08/07/2008 the chq was placed to the bank after the due date and started penalizing me from that date.
                    Kindly let me know how to come out of this whether should I go through the court or consumer forum.

                      I used the credit card for paying at petrol pumps & at indian railways. I was levied 2.5% surcharge on the same. These surcharges are not mentioned anywhere on their website nor was I informed about the same at the time of selling the card to me.

                      I would like to know whether I'm liable to pay for the charges not known to me.

                        I had recently applied for the 'Titanium Credit Card' from Standard Chartered Bank (Hong Kong) Limited, occurred in Hong Kong, on[protected] via internet and on[protected] sent the required document i.e. proof of residential address, HKID card, monthly income (over $50,000-HK) as well as the copy of another credit card issued by Citibank (HK) in March 2010 together with a letter explaining that I had just finished my Individual Voluntarily Arrangement (settling all my debts for over $1 million by monthly instalment in the past 3 3/4 years) which finished in January 2010 and now with not a single cent owed to any financial institution to the bank. On[protected], I received a computer print out letter from Standard Chartered Bank dated[protected] when I was informed that my application was rejected. I then called the Customer Service Centre and was referred to the card processing centre while a Mr. WAI, after having heard my complaint that the credit card approving authority (may be a manager) that he/she had not actually vetted through my document or my letter before rejecting my applicaton, a request for review of my application was then put up and a soonest reply was expected.
                        On[protected] tonight I received another call from Mr. WAI who conveyed the decision of his bank that my application was also rejected as my credit score was not updated by the so called 'Credit Union' in Hong Kong. I then related to Mr. WAI that my credit score would not be updated so soon after my IVA finished early this year. However, Mr. WAI just replied me that it was the policy of the bank about the approval of the credit card and that my application was still rejected. I, being a victim of the financial downslope, DID NOT ASK FOR A BANKRUPTCY ORDER BUT TOOK UP THE RESPONSIBILITY TO SETTLE ALL THE DEBT BY IVA myself, had renewed my new page of life and wish to take a credit card I interested in, even though I had already got one from Citibank, however it was regjected.
                        I would like to seek ALL your esteemed comments about the decision of the bank, though I am not a criminal nor did I serve in a correctional institite whereas I would still be accepted by the society after being released from prison, that is it a wise / responsible decision of the banking coropration to reject my LITTLE application for a credit card even though I shoulder my own responsibility in the past years ? I really feel disappointed to the service to this bank, A LEADING BANK IN HONG KONG !!!

                        Forget the credit card - get yourself a charge card against your cash deposit which will help you rebuild your credit history.

                          Dear Sir/Madam,
                          My Name is Siddeshwara H K Swamy having S/B Account in Canara Bank ( Acc. No.[protected].I had made a transaction in Standard Chartered Bank ATM which is in New BEL Road, Mathikere, Bangalore on[protected]:04. I wanted to withdraw Rs.10,000. As soon as i put the card and selected the option for withdrawing money and entered the amount, the ATM machine got switched off in between the transaction. Then the security man came and switched on the UPS and ATM machine got restarted. After that it didnot disperse the money but the transaction slip came as money withdrawn. When i checked my account Rs. 10,000 has been deducted. I have given a complaint to Canara Bank - Mahalakshmi Lay out branch regarding this on 10 May 2010. Till now I have not recieved any amount. Kindly do the needful. The transaction reference numebr is SINB4800 4786. Kindly Help me.

                            As I have an A/C of Credit Card at Standard Cahrted Bank... I have already did followup on call and finaly i did eMail to them, But I did not get any positive reply from them, and doing mental harassment by phone to my parent and me.

                            Please find below mail, Which I Wrote to them.......
                            Dear Sir/Madam,

                            I Piyush N Patel is a customer of your credit card since 2007, my card services has been suspended since 1.5Yr due to due amount.
                            Your collection agent has been started follow-ups to collect the due amount,but all time your employee/agent gave me wrong commitment to provide me A/C
                            Statement, and i was paying amount according to them. every time your executive told me that 'Sir please pat this much amount, I will send your statement
                            soon". But no result since long and last time i was surprising when one of your employee told me that (Your emp conversation :"'why you paid "minimum due"
                            every time because your minimum due amount can't calculate and can't deduct from your principal due amount.. our collection agent told you lie to meet them
                            target'").

                            I am also working in well known telecom company as a cluster Lead - Customer Service/ Retention but we never tell lies to our customer to meet our KRAs/ Target.
                            There is lots of other things which never fullfill by your employees.

                            Also I would like to bring in your notice that your employee's follow-ups style is very much irritating and absolutely wrong, when i committed them I will call
                            or you can give me call on such and such time and date then why they started follow-ups before time, this forced me to avoid them calls, Second thing as they
                            are knowing that now I am working at Rajkot city then why they called up at my Ahmedabad land line no..?? and today they used bad words for me on call,
                            according to my mother they used very bad words and language. Here I would like to tell you,Please tell your employee to stop this else I will take some
                            strong action against your organization, I have tolerated this till time because of good name of your organization.

                            Now please provide me a A/C Statement since beginning What I have used.. and what I have paid..on piyush.n.[protected]@relianceada.com, then after please call me
                            for settlement of account, I am very much ready to do so till time please no follow-ups. Last time also i had conversation with your one of executive that
                            back will take Rs. 150 to provide statement and I was ready for this but till there is no result..?? ur emp provide me statement for last six month which is
                            useless for me.. Please provide me statement since beginning to avoid this situation.

                                I had a card in 2000 which I closed in 2006 with a final settlement. My last transaction was much before that. Two days back I began getting calls from some finance company in Mumbai, telling me that there is a outstanding of around Rs.40,000/- pending on my card!! When i told them the card was closed long back, they began asking for details. I refused to give them details telling them to send me the details of the outstanding so that I can take in up with the bank. Waiting to hear from them. I also learnt that my name has been listed on CIBIL! Who are these people?

                                      This is to inform you that I have not yet received the statement for the last month for which the due date is about last week of May, 2010. Pl note that before a few days I opted the slogan of SCB regarding the "LET THIS BE YOUR LAST PAPER STATEMENT" to discontinue the paper statement and to receive the soft copy of the statement. Please note before this I was receiving the sattement in both manner i.e. PAPER and SOFT IN MAIL. Pl look into the matter and send the statement in the email to make the payment accordingly.

                                        I am also facing similar problem. I normally used to pay me credit card through Cheques. After the Online Portal was announced, I started to pay through this option. I made the payment for April 2010 on 26th of that month, whereas my due date is 30th of the same month. The portal accepted my payments and the amount got deducted from my bank account. In the first week of May 2010 I got an SMS saying there is a due in my account and the card got blocked automatically. I was not aware of this fact till I gave a call to the customer support, who in turn told me that the card was blocked.

                                        As my normal practice I made the full amount specified in my statement against my card. Later after checking with the customer care, I found out the fact that
                                        whenever a customer makes the payment for both the loan amount and the primary card amount in the main card itself, they should give a call to the customer support to tell amount bifurcation. This however happened automatically to me, when I paid the amount through cheque transactions. As the usual fashion, the bank has given me late fee for not transferring the amount. After continuous conversation with the customer support, the late fee was waived.
                                        However before I made my payments I called the customer support to find out the final balance to be paid. At this point, I was shocked totally because, she told me to pay the full amount of Rs.2377, (which had the full amount with the late fee ) which will be adjusted in the next bill. Now as a poor customer I need to pay the complete amount to activate my card.

                                        Now, is there any body who can answer my questions
                                        1. If the bank is able to do a automatic allocation of amount from my cheque transaction, why can't the online transaction do the same.

                                        2. Coming back to the bank's logic, if the amount has been transferred to the primary card completely, then I should have got warning sms from the bank in the month of April about the due amount pending and not after the next month bill generation.

                                        3. When the bank is sending me one statement for all my primary card, secondary card, Instabuy account (card loan accounts) why can't I do the same when I pay to them.

                                        4. What is the exact procedure to pay the credit card, which has some late fee waived after billing is generated.

                                        5. Moreover the online transaction screens never say that card loan amount entered in the Primary card should be intimated to the customer support before the end of month or due date.

                                        6. Whenever we give a call to the customer care, they say that their working hours are 9 to 6 pm only to know about the full balance amount pending in all our cards including the loans details

                                        I am also asking the same questions posted in the above complaints.

                                        Is this a new policy bank has come up to earn money?

                                        Is this the way a multinational company deals with their customers?

                                        Is there anyone who can stop these banks from cheating innocent customers?

                                        Is that the only way left for us to spend our hard earned money?

                                        Though the amount is small from the bank's point of view, it is still a big one for a middle class family like us.
