Hi, I had closed all my credit card accounts with SCB (Standard Charted Bank)and I was promised that everything would be closed and my name removed from CIBIL. I had 2 Credit Card ending with 7011 and 7093. I have several letters from SCB promising that there are no dues and cibil will be cleaned up 4 months ago. But no effect so far, my cibil still shows the same overdue of Rs 9307 against SCB A/c ending with 3090. I do not know where from this 3090 has come. I had made pymt of Rs 9307 dt 25/11/2009, ref no - SCB/1457/nov/2009. I want to know why my name is still apearing in cibil report despite having received no-due letters and promise to correct cibil several times from SCB for which I would have made at least 10 calls. Here are the details of letters sent to me by SCB ....

No Dues Certificate - Ref SCB/1457/Nov/2009 dt 25/11/2009, signed by one Cust Assist Mgr.
Again no due certificate for the same - Ref 12/09/048282/VL/CRD, Dt Dec 23 2009 , signed by Vijalakshmi - Cust Care officer
Again no due certificate for the same and promise to remove my name from cibil dt 12/24/2009

And all the above letters came after I blasted them over phone. But its of not use, cibil report dt 29/3/2010 still has this overdue amount against SCB Ac ending with 3090. I Do not know where from this account has been invented now. They have been very unhelping and unresponsive. Request you to kindly do the needful against them.
Me to facing the same problem.

    Hi,
On my platinum Standard Chartered credit card account no ************8460, I received only one outstanding bill exactly one month after I had applied for the card. I made the payment and after that there were some intermediate transactions, but I didnt receive any bill/neither any sms nor any call for any outstanding bill payment. Then suddenly in March , exactly after 3 months of first bill, I got a call that I have to pay 24k as outstanding. I asked the customer care to send the bills, but I got no mails. Then I again called the customer care to send me bills for jan, feb and march and I found that gross misappropriation has been carried out on the bill. From january to March, service taxes has been levied for non payment of the bill where I had never received any statement of bill for any month during the said period.I complained to the customer care and made it clear that I will only pay for the outstanding minus taxes and interests and I wont pay for any tax and interest and I made a payment of 21k as per my calculation.

Now in April month statement, again I found that the old service tax and interests have been recalculated to show a gigantic figure.

My questions for Standard Chartered Bank are very Simple :

1.Is it not the duty of the bank to inform the customer from time to time through email/sms the outstanding to be paid for the particular month?
2.Is it not surprising when the customer care does not have a clue about the outstanding when in standard chartered site, they give customer care number to clarify all doubts?
3.How can you levy charges on non payment of the bill when you have not informed the customer how much payment he has to make ?
    4. Is it not duty of customer care to send bills to the customer when the customer complains about non availability of card statements. Is it duty of customer to remind the customer care time and again to send bills to his email account?
    5. The customer care now says to send a mail to card.[protected]@sc.com which they could have said earlier when I complained about the fabricated outstanding bill.

I have requested standard chartered bank to reverse all taxes and interests since I had applied the card lest I will be forced to block the card and file for a consumer case.

This is in regard to the above mentioned Credit Card, which belongs to me. For the last 3-4 months I have been chasing your bank to solve the problem, which has caused me embarrassment and waste of time and energy.

To tell you the whole problem I need to start with my bill STATEMENT DATE 23rd MARCH 2009. I was traveling through the Europe during then,[protected], I had lost my hand baggage along with my passport and cell phone, along with my credit card. After couple of hrs with the help of the local authority ( Rome Central Station – Police)I manage to find my handbag and luggage. Since I had found everything in order, I checked into my hotel and went through all my stuffs. But since I had my credit card STANDARD CHARTERD EMIRATES PLATINUM, and VIJAYA BANK CREDIT CARD, I immediately called the related banks and asked them whether there has been any transaction in last 2 hrs, I did got through Standard Chartered Italian number after lot of looking around. I had to call my office as well to inform them about my Vijaya Bank card as well. So I also requested them to please put in a request for a Photo ID whenever there will be any usages on the Credit Card. Since everyone said it was in order without any usage in last 2-3 hrs, I tend to over see the matter.

When I received the relative statement I was surprised to see a transaction made on the same date of Euro 550=00 ( INR 36,293=84), I immediately called the bank and asked them about the same. I clearly explained them the whole problem and also asked them to look into the matter, since my total bill for that month was of Rs 74,704=35, I paid the balance amount of Rs 38,410=51, which was according to me was the sum for my total purchases that month.

I did informed the bank once again I spoke to some lady called Ms. Pretty , but she too said she will look into the matter and see what can be done, I request for a revised bill and she had advised me that I need to fill up a certain and send it back to them. But it’s been over 3 months, I am still waiting for that form. Finally I decided to stop making any payments, on[protected], I received a call from your office in Guragaon from Mr.Rahul, who insisted that I make the payment (minimum) as soon as possible, I explained to him the whole problem. I quote “ Sir, you please make the payment of Rs 2,520=00, moment it is reflected in your account we will WAIVE of that disputed amount ( Rs 36,293=84) from your bill”, hence someone made the payment on my behalf (receipt No. 38391 dt.[protected]. Now this was over a month, I am still waiting for that revised bill by email which Mr.Rahul has promised, and also confirmed my email address with him. But once again I was let down. Now another month passed without me making any payment, on[protected], I received a call from Mr.Vivek of your bank from the Gurgagon office, he once again repeated Mr.Rahul’s word, which was still echoing in my head. He added “ Sir, please trust me once, you make the minimum balance payment of Rs 4,120=00, we will solve your problem”, I asked him how is it possible. He passed his phone to his senior and once again I had to narrate the whole story, his reply was “ Sir, your outstanding is Rs 93,600, according to you Rs 36, 293.84 was wrongly charged to your account, so hence you can pay Rs 57,000 and settle this matter.” I requested him in written the same, he suggested I rush to the Standard Chartered Bank ( NS Road, Branch), and meet Ms.Prachi Asani, who will be able to help me out. Since I was tired of narrating the same problem over and over again on the telephone, I went down to the bank personally. On meeting her she explained me that this meeting is for SETLEMENT, I was surprised; I DON”T WANT A STELEMENT. I was very clear with Mr.Vivek about the same, but I guess instead of recovering the money the righteous way they would rather like to close the problem instead of facing the way. He called me during the meting and here again I asked him over the phone what can I do re-solve this problem and I quote “ Sir, this is the best way for out of it.” Again I insisted why should I settle the matter as a DEFAULTOR, I just want to clear the problem. I never had any problem as such with your bank, half of my family are using your credit card, so why should I be proclaimed as DEFAULTOR who decided to settle the matter.

I am feel helpless, as Mr.Vivek explained me that I have to pay just Rs 12,000 – Rs 13,000 ( Rs 45,000 usage during the 3months, settlement amount quoted to me Rs 57,000) more and I can close the matter. I quote “ You can then apply for new Standard Chartered Bank credit card”, does he take me for fool.

I am looking for a advise from you to solve this problem or else I have to take up this matter legally, I would rather spend Rs 57,000 on legal expanses then going for a settlement. So please advise, just to keep Mr.Vivek’s word, I did made the payment of Rs 4,120=00 (Dt.[protected], as he had said that after this payment will be affected someone will get back to me to resolve this problem but not to my surprise I just received another statement without any solution. If someone should follow Mr.Vievek’s advise then everyone using your card, should use the card to the full limit and then for a SETLLEMENT, ( 35 % ) and then apply for a new card, and so on carry on like that. Maybe that could be the new policy implemended by your bank, I fail to see that why would your bank would like to get rid of regular customers, specially during time of recession.

      Dear Mr. Jayraman

Its funny that I get a conformation email within a couple of seconds, but I still haven't received reply to my email in last 20 days.

Whereas it use to not take you more then 10 mins to send me an email regarding the payment as Mr.Sunil Gond's request but its taking you more then 20 days to reply to my email.

I hope to receive a reply from you by this year end.

      Dear Mr. Jayaraman,

As per your Letter No.12/09/000789/YAP/ESC dated December 10, 2009 and your email Dated December 21,2009 I had affected the payment of Rs 43,000 against Card Ending 5250 and Rs 6,600 against Card Ending 8052.

As per my various communication with your executive in Kolkata Mr. Sunil Gond[protected] during that period he assured me that once the payments will be affected I will receive my Credit Card Statement within 7 days with "no outstanding".

I think you are already aware of all the problem arrised due to the "Disputed Amount" of Rs 36,293.84 transaction date 09-03-09, all the interest fees and late payment charges accumulated due to that. You must be having the copies of all the email I had sent along during that period so I need not further explain myself.

Before Mr.Sunil Gond had arrived to this solution of paying of Rs 43,000 and Rs 6,600 subsequently all these problems will be taken care off, but I guess I shouldn't trusted your executive and taken his word for granted. Neither should I have taken your letter for granted.

But to my surprise I had just received my Credit Card Statement dated December 23, 2009 with no such solution. I had just called the Customer care as well, spoke to a Ms. Rohini she said that she will speak to concerned department and will get back to me within 3 days.

      Waiting for your earnest reply.

      Best regards,

        Hello Sir,

I had applied for Take over of home loan from Ing Vysya to SCB - Smart home load in Dec.2009.

I got my sanction letter dt .22nd Dec 2009.

After that nothing happened for a month. I called up the customer service and launched a complaint that though the sanction letter has been received there is no communication that I received either from the Bank nor from the agent who collected all my documents. Though i tried calling up the agents -- "Number switched off", "I am in a meeting, call you later", "I am struck with my personal issue, shall be in Bangalore next week, shall meet you". These are the messages that i have been receiving.

Got fed up and went to the bank straight at Koramangla, after good amount of chasing up, meet a female who tried to call him up and atleast he said on March 10th that my loan application has been rejected.

I was soo furious. To Reject an application it took them 3 months.

Till now I haven't got a letter from the bank saying rejected NOR my processing FEE NOR my documents back.

All the deals of the bank until 31st of March 2010, for 8% has come to a close now and stuck with Ing Vysya again.

I would like to go to consumer court to sue SCB for non intimation of the rejection though the sanction was done in Dec. 22nd 2009.

Could you please advice me on this, if my action would be acknowledged?

        Thank you

        Kind Regards
        Raman

I have used STAN CHART credit card since, 1993 and had a limit of 275,000 Rs. Its only recently that the Bank has entered into fraudulent practice. I paid all the bills without much review and trust BUT when I checked last, a systematic fraud system has been evolved within STANCHART group. And that is as below:
1.If you have multiple accounts, a single bill is raised and when settled in full on primary account, the sums are not distributed inspite requests to do so.
2.When cheque is issued in primary account, the amounts are credited to secondary card holder.

With such actions, the accounts are made irregular and charges are collected in interest form, and while the second account shall have EXCESS funds in CREDIT unaccounted.

Systematically, STANCHART had ripped me few thousands of Rs. When checked and the call centre was unresponsive and RUDE and vindictive. Inspite of written request to distribute funds in correct heads, standard chartered refused this time adjustment to state, that we should write at the back of cheque. respective heads !!

The practices are against the norms of RBI and since I am too busy, I was unable to act further. But all docs. are available to start a legal proceeding and redress at appropriate forum the issues. And RBI norms are not implemented by the Stanchart and RBI should order Audit of Banking practices adopted within Stanchart

Standard Chartered Credit Cards — Fraudulent billing

I have a SCB credit card #[protected] having the payment due date on 1st of every month. I am currently located in South America and my father is taking care of the SCB related transactions. As mentioned in the complaint I have the below concerns wrt the service being offered by SCB Credit cards division.

          1. The Credit Card statement not being despatched to my mailing address. However an SMS is sent to the below contact number based on which he has dropped the cheque in the nearby drop box as suggested by the SCB Customer Care.

          2. The actual statement for June as an SMS was sent asking for the payment of Rs: 560 which is already credited. But I suspect the validity pf the billed amount as we never received any statement for the same (no e-mail or a hard copy of the statement being delivered) other than the SMS.

The payment of credit bill not being recognized in time. An HDFC Cheque #471120 for the amount Rs. 338 has been dropped on July 30 th in a drop box.

However, it looks like he is still receiving SMSes for the credit card bill payment which he has already done. Also, I would like know the reason for asking me to do the same payment twice!!!

Standard Chartered Credit Cards — Billing inappropriately

          Respected Sir/Madam,
I am N.Dhanalakshmi and I possessed a standard chartered credit card in the year 2004. I cleared all my debts in the month of December and I returned their card. In the month of January'2005 they sent a bill of Rs.2200, for which they said it was for a new credit card. I returned the card along with a letter mentioning that I do not require any more credit cards, but I kept receiving statements until the month of May. Then I spoke to the customer care and also passed on a letter to the officer demanding immediate closure of this card for which I have not applied at all. Then on I received no statements at all, except for one in which it is mentioned that your credit card has become ineffective. I have all the statements and copies of letters that I have written to the company as well. Now when I applied for a car loan they said it cannot be processed as there is a credit on your name for about 40000. I was shocked as I now do not use any credit cards and I am always very clean about my financial matters. Now they are mentally torturing me and demanding me for this lump-sum amount. I at this age(56), am suffering from such pressures for which I am not responsible at all. Kindly help me and guide me how to go about with this. When I spoke to the manager, he is now demanding for Rs.23000. Why should I pay so much? And moreover, they do not want to give a letter stating you pay so much and we shall give your "NOC". Please guide me through this.

I am a first time user of Standard Chartered Bank's services and have a credit card.

I still repent the day on which I decided to give in to the incessant calls made by the tele callers employed by your 'esteemed' bank and took the credit card.

The problems started even before the card arrived. I was made to submit various documents multiple times as every time the customer service used to forget to mention an 'important' document that was a must for the application to be processed.

Further, when the card finally arrived, half of the features mentioned during the sales stage were not a part of the actual offerings. I hope you record the sales calls and you get to hear your executives promise the moon to a customer while selling the card. On being enquired as to why the benefits were not mentioned on the website, the constant alibi was that it is a promotional offer that will be valid for a 'lifetime'.

The harassment does not stop there, while trying to register the card with the bank via phone banking, the executives were trying to make me believe that I do not know how to read a CVV number when the registration was getting failed owing to an incorrect date of birth mentioned in the records. It took 4 genius customer service executives (CCE) to decipher this error. In addition, the supervisor on duty was consistently not available on any of the calls made and CCEs had the audacity to hang up in the middle of the conversation.

It does not stop here. To get the records corrected I was asked to visit a branch or fax the date of birth proof again. I requested the CCE to accept an email copy ( as I believed Stan Chart being a foreign bank appreciates and encourages online transactions) and surprisingly the CCE gave me a wrong email address. After emailing and following up multiple times nothing has happened and the CCE still wants a fax to be sent for the same documents that are wilting in the record books. When finally a fax was sent to [protected] after multiple tries the fax did not go through. A call to the 'diligent' stan chart customer services department informed me that the fax machine was out of order A new no. was given [protected], after sending the fax on this no. and calling again to confirm I was told that the fax was not clear. I have no clue what am I supposed to do now.

Congratulation on hitting the 1 billion revenue mark in India, I am sure with such a pathetic customer service it is not sustainable over the long term.

Going by my past experience I really doubt if this mail would even evoke a reply.

I have a SCB Prepaid card, I requested 3 times to bank for web access pin first they have sent a blank envelop, second time they have mailed me the pin, but that pin is still not working. Right now I am in USA, I talked to the customer care many times but they always put me on hold and 2-3 minute later they disconnect the call. It is not possible for me to call them again and again. Really the service of this bank is bad. One more thing they have mentioned that their prepaid card will work for online purchasing because it is e - com enabled, but this is also not functioning, talking to the customer care regarding this matter they say that if your card would be of VISA logo than it will work for online transaction, i think they have little confusion or they don't know that SCB's prepaid card are only Master Card. Such a horrible bank and customer care.

This in regard to fraudulent transaction on my Standard chartered credit card at different shops at Ahmedabad. I went to Iskon Mall at SG Highway on 21stFeb night 9:30PM and did my last payment with that credi card at Lilliput. That was my last shopping by that Card then I roam around the mall with my Family till 10:30 at that Mall only and came back Home. Next day on 22nd Feb at 2:46PM I got call from SC Bank to check for verification of a high transaction of 15800/-, that time I got to know that my Card has been stolen and is misused by a fraud. In the mean time The fraud used the card at various shops and did a shopping of around 37000/-. Three times he did shopping of more than 5,000 Rs but I didnt receive a SMS from the Bank so that I immediately act upon and blocked the Card. I received all Three SMS next day. I blocked the call with help of CC of SC bank and londged a FIR at Satellite Police station.
WIth SC Banl local Investigation team I visited some of the shops where shopping was done. They verified that some other persons came with the card and did shopping. Even in none of the swap payment slip my signatures are matching and at all 7 shops the fraud did shopping very easily. The merchants were only interested in selling products.
One positive thing I found that the last merchant where fraud did a shopping of 15800/- noted the auto ricshaw number by which he transported the purchased home theatre. I went to the owner of Auto rickshaw and tolld him the entire story. He was very helpful ( more than investigation team of Standard chatered Bank, whom are more intersested in saying that you are the payable and nothing else). With Autorichshaw wala I went to the place where fraud was living was that area is quite dangerous and crminal kind of people live there. I told to Bank that from a normal people you take action and do harrasment calls and send recovery agents so why not to this fraud. They said no and saying that only customer is responsible for this.
I strongly feel all authorities in consumer affairs should make it mandatory for credit card companies & merchant establishments to install card terminals that require numerical pin/fingerprint etc. to authorise purchase transactions, & make this secure system mandatory. Why should only ATMs ask for pins. The credit card business is going through a boom in India in the last 5-8 years, which is still a state of infancy. There are stupid credit card rules & insecure methods o[censored]sing it. Ultimately the card holder becomes a fool, who is forced to shell out his hard earned money towards fraud transactions.

I insist that the fraud transactions & late fee charged be reversed.

The fact is I have not obtained any Credit Card from Standard Chartered. I do not have Standard Chartered Credit card with me as such do not know the card number. He threathened me that my name will be informed to CIBIL as defaulter. He assured me to send duplicte copy of latest card statement and advised me to talk to customer care telephone No. 66014444. I tried on this no. but i was asked to give my card no. As I do not know the credit card, I am left helpless. If the bank has issued any credit card in my name they should cancel it immediately. I do not want to deal with them.

I used to hold the following cards (as per SCB [protected] & [protected]) of Standard Chartered Bank. The cards were issued to me in the year 2002 or 2003 as far my knowledge goes when I used to stay in bangalore. In september '2003 I shifted to Delhi. In March '2004 I again shifted to Jamshedpur. Before coming to Jamshedpur I cleared all my dues upto March '2004 and returned the card after cutting it into 4 pieces to the Canaught Place Branch in Delhi.
After about 5 years I received a call from some representative of SCB, as I was informed, on 13th October 2008. I was informed that I have dues of about Rs. 33000 on my two above cards. (the card nos were given to me at that time). After abotu 3 years and seeing no response from the SCB I scrapped all my SCB records so had to believe that the above two card were Issued to me. I also had no option to verify the same at Jamshedpur about the details of the above cards.
Again I was given a call on 13th Nov '08 with an offer to pay Rs. 3080 against my dues to close the account. I requested to know how these liability built up on me when I had cleared all my dues before returning the card. But I could not be provided with any details about the same.
I apprehend that the SCB would have levied the up-front annual fee in the month of Apr '04 and due to non payment of the same the interest and late fine would have been imposed since then.
Recently I came to know that my name appears as credit defaulter in the CIBIL and I am not issued any card or any loan.
I have written many times about this to the bank but no response has yet been received except a call in the month of Dec '09 saying that I will have to pay Rs.25k to close my accounts.
I am now looking for help. Please guide me on the issue.

                        Regard,

Credit Card Application denied without justification

                          To whoever it may concern,

I received two letters dated 7th jan 2010[Ref No.: BVN0319HKT] and 19th Jan 2010[Ref No. CAG0310VRT] from Standard Chartered Bank. It states the rejection of my application for credit card siting the following reason:

                          - Does not meet bank policy norms

Would request an explanation on the relevant bank policy norms that have not been met!

                          While you may explain...

                          Hi,

Three years back i was having a standard chartered credit card with some balance. I have paid the balance on the last day and asked them to close it immediately. But to a surprise i have got a statement after one month with late payment charges Rs 600 and still card was not closed. I wrote a mail to them clearly that i wouldn’t pay the late payment charges as i have paid everything on the last day.

But they did not even respond anything. Since i was in US that time i couldn’t call them so i wrote them a email, which i hold a proof. Later after an year i got a statement which was showing Rs 3000 as balance (Late payment charge on late payment charge). I had again wrote an email that i cannot pay that.

After coming back to India, recently i had applied for a Car loan in ICICI. They came back and said that in credit report on my name there was a balance of Rs6000 reported by Standard charted to RBI.

I have problems now when i apply for a credit card or take a loan and it is causing lot of pain for me. How to remove this from my credit report. It is causing pain for me even though i have cleared all my dues.

                          Please help.

                          Regards,
                          Muthu

                            Dear Sir/Madam

I have had a savings account with SC Bank for the last fourteen years. In fact, Stanchart inherited my account with the amalgamation of The Grindlays with it.

In the last few weeks there have been deductions from my account which on inquiry turned-out to be penalties for maintaining a below prescribed balance in my account.

For God's sake I am a customer, not a student studying in this institution who is liable to a dressing down in case of a misdemeanour!

And to add insult to injury I was never ever told/informed that it had suddenly become incumbent for all hapless customers of the bank to maintain an enhanced minimum balance or else...............

However, as a result of this entirely arbitrary action about INR[protected] have been deducted from my account without an as much as by your leave!

May I therefore, request through this that whoever is empowered to take kind decisions to ameliorate the sufferings of the customers of this esteemed institution to please look into my complaint.

I write with hope and the fond expectation that my money shall be duly refunded.

                            Thank You.

                            Sincerely

                              Dear Sir / Madam,

I was holding Standard Chartered Credit card in the past[protected]/04). Over couple of transactions i stopped paying the monthly payment due to the disturbance in monthly interest levied on my transactions and bank did'nt provide proper justification for the same. I was in receipt of continuous calls from the bank for payment and it happened to settle the amount after detailed discussion with the company representative.

I remember that I was supposed to pay close to Rs. 16,000 for which i settled to Rs. 8000 ( approximate) and closed the account in the year 2003 / 04.

On 22nd February 10, I'm in receipt of Legal notice from Aadarsh Law Firm, Delhi stating that i need to pay the balance of amount Rs. 1,77,699 /-.The legal notice does not support any justification why i should pay such a huge amount. ( legal notice enclosed for your kind reference)

For the last six years, i haven't received any call neither any one contacted me in person to pay the remaining amount ( if bank thinks i haven't made the full settlement).

I need my statement when i paid the final settlement and amount balance as on that date.

                              I need guidance and support.

                              regards,

                              Rama krishna .G.L

I had used my credit card for Rs. 9000 in early 2009. I failed to make monthly payments for the first few months. Then collection agents started coming over to my place and taking 500 / 700 / 900 rupees per month. Since the past one year, i have paid around Rs. 5000 to these collection agents, but now they say my total payment due along with interest and late fees is around Rs. 20000+. I would like to settle for a negligible amount immediately.

I am holding a Manhattan credit card for few months.
The quality of service can be best described as 3rd class. They for no reason block the card. Then they cant explain why this happened and then they send another replacement card .
The happened once in jan 2010 for me . I asked for an explanation for which they didnt have any. I started using the new card they sent and again it got blocked in the 3rd week of feb .
I have no dues absolutely and have always paid my money on time . They dont have any reason to block my card. Everybody beware of this bank and card.
imagine you doing some purchase and trying to use this card and then you see it blocked. You wud be lucky i[censored] have another card or cash in hand !!!
The worst part in all this is that they dont send any communication on doing all this !!! Shocked to see this attitude with this bank!!!
