We have taken a home loan from STANDARD CHARTERED in mumbai 2002 . in that time bank charged rate of intrest 10.00 p.a at floatting . But when RBI increased interest rate time to time the bank also increased it . But now RBI intrest rate going down than STANDARD CHARTERED also going down own interest rate 13 to 12. . My question is that what is meaning of floatting rates? The current rates far below around 9.00 %rates in many banks.why STANDARD CHARTERED is charging me 12.50 %in my opinion all of home loan customer of bank should be organized and strongly oppose and object to bank and government also pay attention because this is un justice with Indian people

Dear Charanjit,

We're sorry to hear about your experience.
We'll contact you and work to address your issue at the earliest.

Regards,
ICICI Customer Service Team.
Hi Charanjit,
I agree and have the same opinion. I too have home loan with ICICI and % rate was not reduced even after raising in online banking etc. Then I walked down to the branch and I was told there is a option to switch to 8.75% fixed for 2 yrs and then on market rates later. But there is penalty of 1.11% on the outstanding prinicipal. I opted for this though I am not too happy with the charge and the way it was not communicated by the bank. They told me about this option only when I personally went and asked in the branch. Even now so many customers may not even know this.

Please walk down to your branch as they might be closing this scheme soon.

Below is the whole story which sent to Bank - They are non reliable, highly unethical....

I am still in your throttlehold Trap. You made your customer not only frustrated but forced to made him with Low self-esteem, Low moral value, very nervous, very scared by the kind of Threatening calls, abusive language and unrelevant communication by your collection department and recovery department. I am again reiterating the whole story which I have communicated to customer care, Collection Department(I can also name these person – Chanchal, Ajay, Sonal, Subhash, Minakshi, Dipika and many more) around 20-30 times to resolve the issue. I have also sent mails regarding the problem. But Bank never indented to resolve this issue honestly rather than they always tries to linger it by putting customer always in dark.
I have made some transaction on 28-29 march 2008 for around Rs. 21,971.35 against my Credit Card and then I left India for USA on 29th March, the Credit card was still with me there in USA. During the Period of April month SCB executive came to my Home and informed my wife that some suspicious Transaction around Rs. 54,000 happened against my account after 29th march. They asked for confirmation from my wife, she denied for that and requested to block the card immediately. When I came to know about same, I followed up lot up times from USA, but in vain, anyhow I managed to speak to Customer Care executive once and she asked me for dispute declaration form. As I was in US first time and it happens within 15-20 days being there so you can imagine the kind of pressure I was having over there when I came to know that Rs. 54,000 transaction happens against my account and I have to follow up these things from US. I also told her that as the statement contains the disputed transaction (Rs 54,000) along with my genuine transaction(Rs. 21,971.35), I will pay the genuine amount once my statement gets undisputed. I filled up the Dispute declaration with limited information, as that time I don't have the Card Statement, so they asked me to fill the form again.
Conclusion - The above whole things happens due to Banks failure, I tried to manage to the maximum. I (in US) with wife with 3 month baby (in India) suffered a lot due to this. Request you to please let me know where I am wrong.
Once I returned back to India, I Faxed the Dispute Declaration form with all the details, and also called the Customer Care. They accepted that 54,000 was wrong transaction and I only need to pay the genuine 21,971.35. I agreed and asked them to please collect the payment.
During this Period again around Rs.5,000 transaction happened and I got to know about the same from SCB bank. I was very surprised to know that wrong transaction is happening against blocked card in such a prestigious bank and unfortunately this is happening against me. I called them again and after repeated call they accepted that it was wrong transaction and I got relived. Then someone (Sunil Kumar as I can remember) from Collection dept came to me to collect the payment. I narrated the mental distress I gone through during my stay in US. He told me that instead of Rs. 21,971.35, I have to pay with Rs. 20,000 and came to me collected the Rs. 1,100 in Cash and 6 PDC of Rs. 2967(Cheque Detail as follows -

    Cheque no. Date Amount
    218728 25/09/2008 2967
    936756 25/10/2008 2967
    936757 25/11/2008 2967
    936758 25/12/2008 2967
    936759 25/01/2009 2967
    218736 25/02/2009 2967

He had also given me letter with Letter# NDL24177 dated 09/09/2008.
Bank stopped sending me the statement after that. I thought that it may be due to everything closed and final so there is no need of Bank statement. Thinking of that the ugly chapter has been closed so got relived.
Conclusion- I thought that dispute is over and also vow that I will never use any credit card in future. But...
After sometime I applied for Home Loan from one of the Private Bank, and they intimated me that CBILL(I came to know about Cibill first time) is reflecting the 1,878 against my SCB card, and they will not approve my Loan, and builder started asking me that if Loan will get approved with in Time they will start charging me 18% interest. Now once again I started calling SCB for clarification and they told me that around Rs. 24,000 amount is still pending against me. When I inquired about my PDC Cheques, they informed me that my account statement is not reflecting those payments. I called many times and requested them to please check once again, because I had made the payment. Finally after more than 25 call to Customer Care, Ms. Chanchal from Collection Dept in Delhi Contacted me and she told me that this Rs. 1878 amount is settlement amount and I only need to pay around 1,600 as per her database which is due towards me. She assured me that she will send me NOC within 2 working days. I made a payment of Rs. 1878 as per CBILL instead of Rs. 1600.

I waited for 2-3 day to get the Currier delivered at my office address as promised by Ms Chanchal but in vain. I called Ms. Chanchal many a times after that, but she stopped replying the phone, and even if she is picking the phone, she is putting down without answering anything.
This whole horrible episode was happening when my 1 year old daughter was in Hospital and getting treated for severe chest infection and I was forced to call them and receive their call even during Doctors visiting to my daughter in Hospitals. At that time I was literally mentally tried as I was replying Builders call, SCB pressure call, Bank from which I applied Loan, Doctors treating my daughter and taking care of Family at the same time.

I request you to please see the Customer Call history for how many times I called your bank and also to know when I raised the request and when it get resolved. Worst part is that again I started getting the Statement that - 'Thanks for the payment of 1878 and now you have to pay around Rs. 23000' is due.
When I checked my bank statement I found that out of six cheques only first 4 cheques gets debited from my account. I again started following up with Bank about my payment. Someone named Ajay from SCB ITO office called for Payment of around Rs. 25,000(as I can remember, may be more or less). I narrated the whole story again to him also informed him that about my cheque details. He promised me get the detail of last 2 cheques. And then he told me that the last 2 cheques have been missed somehow during office shifting and I have to pay the amount in cash equivalent to those 2 cheques. He suggested me to pay Rs. 1150 to avoid any burden. He also promised to find out those cheques and will return to me and after that I have to pay the equivalent cheque amount in cash minus Rs 1150. I called him many times; I managed to talk to him once after repeated calling on office number. He informed me that case has been transferred to Gurgaon office and someone from Gurgaon SCB office will call me for the same.
After few days I got call from Sonal from Gurgaon office regarding my Cheque payments. She informed me that they are not able to get the details of last 2 cheques and suggested me to pay the equivalent cheque amount and that was around Rs. 2940. She also promised me send me the No Dues certificate after 4-5 days of my cash payment. I show some suspicion to Sonal as in past they promised the same but never done accordingly. She made me convinced that and also given her personal mobile number if she will not pick her office phone for speedy follow up this issue. But unfortunately this was again the breech of commitment. Every time I called her she pass up by saying that she is looking into that and within few days I will get the No dues Certificate. But nothing happens.
In between I talked to so many people from Standard Chartered Bank, they all listen the whole story and never called again. The Irony is that till now I talked with so many people but only once, as no one followed up the case to next level, every time case transferred to new person.
This time I got the call from Dipika – I narrated the whole story again as usual and also requested her follow up this case and close it asap. She was the first one during whole episode of around 2 years who called me second time. She informed me that I have to pay the Rs. 32,000 and agreed to get the approval of Rs. 13,000. I requested her to look into it in detail, but she refused and threatened me to transfer the case to Recovery agency and recovery agent will collect the whole amount from me. She talked very indecently and started putting immense pressure on me. After 15 min I got the call from Gaurav claiming from Recovery dept. He was initially talking in well mannered ways later on he started talking with very filthy language and threatening me like anything. When I stopped picking his repeated call on my mobile he started calling on my office reception and talked very indecently with the lady at reception. They continuously were calling on my mobile till the 6:30 PM. I left the office to make the Police Complaint. Finally I made the complaint on Friday to my nearest Police Station. They accepted my complain and assured me for safety.
On Saturday I again got the call from Gaurav and he started threatening me and using very abusive language. He threatened me that by any means he will collect the whole amount. I also told him that I had made police complaint against the threatening calls, he replied back that ‘You can go any Policy Station.’ I terrified a lot and left the home with my wife and 2 year old daughter as thinking anytime recovery agent would come to my home. This continues till Monday.
    Conclusion –
    1. The issue begins with suspicious transaction by bank. I tried to close it ASAP which lead lot of mental pressure, Peace of mind, Waste of time and my money.
    2. The information about last 2 cheques provided by me is still unknown to me, also not intimated to me about why these 2 cheques have not been produced.
    3. This whole episode leads to malign my credit history via CBILL which caused me a lot of problem to while getting the approval for home loan.
    4. The latest episode(calls from recovery agency – Gunda type of person) caused me lot pressure , nervousness, depression, low self esteem.
    Expectation –
    1. Please point out where I am wrong.
    2. When I would expect that the case will be closed with No Dues Certificate.
    3. Removal of red flag from CIBILL.
    4. The information about my last 2 cheques.
    5. I have made all my due payment and should not be asked for any further payment, as I have already wasted lot of things for which I am not faulty.
    6. Stop of threatening Call from Recovery agent.
Very Important - If there is any harm to me and my family, the whole responsibility will goes to Standard Chartered Bank.
I request you to please take immediate investigation of this case. Hoping you to close you ASAP.

      Dear Sirs,
I hope this complaint falls on the ears of the right people to handle and help distressed and harassed customers from the clutches of such unscrupulous Banks.
I was holding a Standard Chartered Bank Titanium credit card for the last 9 years and have been one of the firsts to hold this card in our city. I have been making all payments on time and whenever there were delays, have been paying their late charges and interest. I have availed 2 loans on my credit card and paying the EMI on time. I also admit that there were some delay and willingly paid with interest and late charges.
One day out of the blue I received a letter saying that my credit limit has been revised from Rs.2.43L to Rs.10 Thousand ( which apparently is based on the Banks highly intelligent research team saying I can spend and pay only that much). And in spite of repeated request was not considered for re-revision. This, I feel is an insult considering that I have been such a loyal customer and not defaulted any time. Hence I told them to cancel my card as I thought it was not worth continuing with a Bank that does not care for its genuine customers. Now they have converted all my loans, whose tenor was 48 months to be settled immediately and levying huge interests and late charges, It is really a burden to make such hefty payments. I am however making payments more that what was required to be paid on a regular basis as per the agreed tenor. I have written numerous letters to them to consider my case and give me the time / tenor that was initially agreed to by both o[censored]s. Ironically at the time of canceling my card they never informed me regarding the conversion of loans of EMI to immediate settlement. This is increasing day by day the Bank Statements I am getting don’t make sense at all because there are charges and interests every where. In spite of paying atleaset 10,000/- to 15,000/- every month, my outstanding only reduces by a 5,000/- or so…..This is really hurting.
On the contrary to the Banks decision above, I have been offered new products with the new schemes and their other branches calling me and offering me Platinum card and they have also sent me an EMI Card with much more benefits. They say I have been considered as an esteemed customer and have offered this. But just because I chose to cancel my card they have done this and the interest burden so high that I cannot bear this anymore. I have sent plenty of mails and my every mail says I am ready to settle the amount in full but as per the original Tenor. But the problem is the So called “Customer Service Executives” and when escalated to the “Supervisors” know nothing more than “Sir make the payment immediately” and ask me to “ read the small prints on the booklet given to you” and conveniently say that “you have already signed on the documents accepting all this” at the time of taking the card. I understand that, but my contention is I am not going to cheat the Bank, but want time ( as initially agreed with them as per tenor), which will help the genuine customer and also not default the Bank in any manner. I am again ready to sing off any document regarding this.
This feels like they are butchering me and extracting every drop of blood that I have in my body. Banks cannot become richer at the cost of genuine customer’s lives. This is hard… PLEASE HELP. I AM NOT A DEFAULTER….

        Sir,
Standard Chartered Bank credit Cards are maintaining separate accounts for each type of transactions like EACH BALANCE TRANSFER/LOANS ON THE CARDS/PURCHASES ETC. All these accounts are maintained against only one card, by which they can impose four/five (times) late fees on a single card for single fault. This is not fair. They can impose the late charges one time on one card issued.
Pl. do the needful for that type of faulty ideas of the Banks.
        Thank You Sir.

            Dear Sir/Madam,

There was the zero dues on the card as onApr., 2005.but the bank had created almost six thousand on late fee charges without informing and without changing my address as per many of my requests to change my address in their records. In Jan.,2009 ,I had applied for the loan but the other bank informed me that your name is being shown in the Satyam list.
I had contect the bank and made the full and final settlement on 12th Feb.,2009. On 6th March I"ve received a letter that my name has been removed from the satyam list but still after one year it is mentioned by the financial institution that it is there. Due to the illogical act of the Standard Chartered bank I have beared all this.

You are requested to do the needful to remove my name from the said list.

                Hi,

I have a complaint regarding my PF account no. 6163/3273. i submitted the PF form on 06/052009. I called up PF office mumbai several times and they told me that they have send the cheques on 30/09/09 to STANDARD CHARTERED BANK, GURGAON. Following are the details:
                1. Cheque no 925943- amount 8175 rs
                2. Cheque no 818472- amount 3563 rs
                My a/c no is #[protected]

I visited the bank on 10/12/09 but they have misplaced both the cheques. So i request the concerned person from PF office MUMBAI to confirm the bank that they have sent the cheques. I want that cheques should be reissued if the bank have misplaced the cheques. Otherwise i wil be forced to take serious action against the bank. I wil go to consumer court.

                Regards,
                Rohit nagpal

My standard chartered Manhattan Credit Card account number [protected]. Bank sold me some add on package (free coupons, discount card, insurance) on my credit card for which I had to pay Rs. 4000. Bank did a rigorous follow up during my wedding time to recover their Rs. 800 outstanding - which pissed me off. So I decided to close not to use their package and requested bank to close my account. But the bank did not close it in stead continued charging me with interest, they said i have to pay for the outstanding on the package. But I have not used the package then I can not pay for it.
I want to close my credit card account now due to all this but the bank says I have to pay for their package - this is utter unethical business, first bank sells you something on call then even if you dont use their services they keep charging you for that. Now if I continue non-payments cBill will remark in it's report my credibility being less without taking into consideration the facts.
Please help me closing this account.

Standard Chartered Manhattan are no less than robbers. This is just for some other people who can be aware before getting bank account or credit card.

We are using std chartered credit cards since years together and there was no complaint, but since last 8 to 10 month, we have kept on complaining about extra charges levied in our ad-hon card in the name of ankur Trivedi having credit card No. [protected].

You can check with our records, we have always made total amount due before due date and we are not at all defaulter for a single time even .

we have so many other credit cards but no issue anywhere, so please try to resolve this issue at the earliest and get us waiver of extra charges urgently.

When I heard that I had to pay an amount of 17, 000, I knew there was something wrong somewhere. I have requested for evidence. Now, after reading many complaints from other SCB credit card users, I feel this bank is on a looting spree. Do these people really send evidence or just stop calling back, so that their so called interest keeps on building.

I received call from the number[protected] a lady named Gurdeep.

We are a Travel agent and issue quite a few International creditcard tkts against International creditcards for our clients. We had issued a tkt for our client on 17dec for amount Rs 211427 and till date have not rcvd the patment from standard chartered credit card division. They asked us the invoices/passport details and we have furnished them this too.If you call this office(call centre) they say it is still under investigation and nobody is able to tell us when we can get our payment.

                        We are at wits end....

Have sent three complaints to customer service but just get an automatic reply saying we will get back to you and this never happens.

This is the most frustrating experience in my 30 years of travel industry experience.

I had a credit card of Standard Chartered in 2005. One of the statements were late and hence I could not make the payment. When I received the next statement, I made the payment for only my purchases and not the late charges, as it was the Banks fault. I then wrote to the bank regarding the delay in the statement. However, did not receive any communication from them.

Subsequently, I had used other credit cards, including Manhattan credit card, ICICI Credit card etc..

Recently, any request for new credit cards have been rejected, which I don't mind. I have also been receiving calls from supposedly Stanchart asking for defaulted payment, to which I continuously repeated my explanation. I have even asked for details of my purchases on which I defaulted, however, I am yet to receive any communication from the bank. The calls however still continue, at work as well as at home.

I don't have any details, including card no. or other documents. I don't feel that I am liable, since it is the BANKS MISTAKE IN THE FIRST PLACE.

Please do help, and advise course of action to close out this issue.

I have never used your card nor I have any clue on same....

Now how to get out of this, please suggest.

I had also suffered problem similer to you in 2008 and suffered lot. Having suffered due to credit cards and CIBIL in 2008, have decided to help those who are also suffering due to such problems. In last 2 years I have gone through CIBIL Act, Rules and Regulations, severla other RBI guidelines as well.

I am personally aware about Standard Chartered that they are doing lot of illegal activity and have already made complaint with RBI. But I want several complaints directly to RBI so that RBI is forced to issue inspection of Standard Chartered, which will bring out lot many surprises.

In case if you find appropriate please revert back to me on my email ID - [protected]@yahoo.com.

My mom owned a StandardCharted credit card, and the credit went upto 33000. We then payed the full amount in cash, closed the accounts and cut the card into two(destroyed it) in the year 2005. The bank did not contact us for anything after that as everything that needed to be done was cleared.
We then scrapped all the documents recently as a lot of time had passed and the documents were not needed.

Today (ie. 15 Dec 2009) an employee from the Standard Charted bank, Chennai Branch contacted us stating that there are still some dues (about 13000) pending which are needed to be paid.
When asked - Why were we contacted after such a long time?
They replied - As the dues are pending with the Bank so they can contact us any time.
We also asked - Why were the monthly Bank statements not sent?
And the reply was that they send the statements for upto 9months and if there is no response then they stop doing so.

We would really appreciate i[censored] look into the matter and give a suggestion for the next step to be taken in the future.

                                      Thank you.
