Dear Sir,
I submitted a Cheque for Rs. 250,000/- ( Rs. Two Lacs Fifty Thousand Only ) alongwith the DD preparation form for issuing a DD for Rs. 250,000/- to the counter clerk. I hold an account in SBI, Seetamdhara branch in Visakhapatnam. The clerk at the counter told me that he won't accept the Cheque issued by me in favour of the Bank ( BHPV Branch ) and asked to get the form endorsed by the Accountant. The accountant directed me to Dy. Manager who in turn directed me to go to the Chief Manager, Shri K. Vijaya Bhaskar Reddy. During the entire dealing at the staff level, every official told me that they won't accept At Par Cheque.
2. I put up my problem to the Chief Manager, after duly introducing myself, and requested him to help. The Chief Manager also told me that he wouldn't entertain the At Par Cheque as it involves a lot of 'Paper Work" for his bank. Upon this, I told him that how can he refuse to accept my cheque as it can be encashed by the bearer at any bank of SBI, to which he stated that he wouldn't do it. I asked him to give the same in writing. To this, he kept quiet, saw my account details, and then told me that my signatures don't tally. At this point I asked him confirm regarding my account and myself from the bank manager of SBI, Seetamdhara, Visakhapatnam. He said he doesn't require to and asked me to leave. When I told him that if my signatures are not tallying then why the dealing clerk say so at the counter itself or the accountant, he said that he is not bound to reply to me. Then I told him to give me the complaint book to write a complaint. The chief Manager told me to write the complaint on a plain paper and he would write that the Signatures don't match. I said it's the most lame excuse a bank can give to deny a service to which he said that's the way the banks run.
3. When I told him about the customer Service, he laughed and said what service we are doing is the Service only. I requested him to give me the details of complaining against him and the procedure to which he replied that Get the Details Yourself.
4. Sir, I want to complain against the non acceptance of the At Par cheque by the Chief Manager , Shri K. Vijaya Bhaskar Reddy and his behaviour with a customer as the Branch Head. If the Branch Manager can be so callous and lazy to entertain a Par Cheque because it involves additional ' Work' that shows his attitude to his work and respect for customers. I would like to see some action being taken against such senior officials who spoil the name of an organisation. Also its shortchanging a customer by not entertaining a Par Value Cheque and deficiency of service.
