I bought Tata Sky subscription online after speaking to support and comparing the services offered with other competitors. After getting this in Dec, my first hiccup was during activation, it appears its not enough if you buy HD subscription you need to pay a separate charge for HD access. This is not documented on their website, not mentioned by the installation guy, support - basically no way of knowing this until you come to the day when you need to extend your subscription. I find this shady since it was not even listed in the monthly statement I received. I am fine with the fee but against this malpractice of duping users - you could have listed the amount along with the base plan.
If we look at base plan it states you get xx HD channels in base plan, what is the point of giving HD access if the user account cannot access it? And if you still want to collect access fee why not list it somewhere? First you have to buy a HD box to receive content, then you will charge extra for HD channel and then you need to pay extra to view HD channel over tata sky - WHAT a Joke. When I have paid for HD box, paid for HD channel why are you charging me extra and if you want to charge, why not be transparent?
During installation, the local support or the phone support could have clearly informed you need to pay extra for HD access and I could have taken a call if I want to use Tata sky. I was asked for extra charge of 125/- when I enquired I was told the payment was pending and since I had paid online the amount did not get collected. I could have been informed upfront that this is a monthly payment in addition to the charge of base plan. All were interested in trapping consumers rather than keeping the process transparent. Now, when I have raised my complaint with support the resolution was to discontinue with Tata sky as you cannot help. I was promised a call back which was not made.

I would have never signed up for Tata sky if I knew there is an extra charge, that too 125/- per month. If I need a decent set of channels, I have to pay 500+ per month. I would have got Airtel HD for 300 from my local guy. Now I am stuck for I have invested in setup. You guys are pathetic. Why cant you be honest? I want my money back I am done with you guys.
Tata Sky customer support has been notified about the posted complaint.
