Created RMA#82074725 for my faulty portable hard disk on 31/07/10, then after many email correspondence and calling, I a recevied mail saying your new HDD HAS BEEN DESPATCHED on 25/09/10,then they told me that it was a courier problem and a new BOD has been generated and u will receive the hdd in few days, from that day i have been calling them but they are ignoring my calls.

Vinayak, just check this out and you'll know more on how the're treating clients. I've been calling and emailing them almost every single day - they even locked me out of the support portal for a while.

External hdd not detected

Hi everybody...I have a external hard drive of 200 gb. its not getting detected on my pc. i could not find it in device management also. what should i do...help me out please.!!!

    Hi
    I brought a Western Digital External drive, it stopped functioning after 1 year. I called the Support center they asked me to raise a service request and they told me that a logistics person would pickup the drive...but no one turned up even after 20 days. I called the helpdesk, they told me to send it thru bluedart.
    i was supposed to get the disk back with 20 days according to they ...and i am still waiting..

    Will a police complaint help??

      Purchase 40 GB Hard Disk ( Western Digital ) serial no : WMAMC3939627 from Supreme - THE IT MALL
      ( 35, Chittaranjan Avenue, Kolkata -12 ) and in the bill it is written 5 year warranty . Now Hard disk is not working so we went to the shop , Supreme send us to Secure Computer Services and solution and they have taken the HDD and after 1 day they told that it not under warranty. But in the bill it is written 5 years. Now it is 4 Years 11 months.

        western digital/External Hard Drive — Not working

        my hard disk is not connecting with pc
        my hard disk is not connecting with pc .
        Yes its only 5 min connecting & then disconnected automatically.

        suggest me,
        External hard drive can not be recognized, are more common on computer failures, what’s the reason caused this failure?

        1, Setting the CMOS parameters

        If you never used the USB external device, there may occur the case: the system can not detect USB hard drive even if the driver is properly installed, which was mainly due to the motherboard CMOS default port is closed, if not set to open state, it naturally Windows can not detect the external hard drive. In order to solve this problem, we can re-boot into the CMOS settings, and set “Assign IRQ For USB” to “Enable” in “PNP / PCI CONFIGURATION” column, now the system can be assigned to the USB port available interrupt address.

        2, Power shortage

        As the USB drive need to consume some power when it at work, if directly through the USB interface to take power, the power supply may be not enough. Thus, almost all of the external hard drive comes with a separate external power supply or a PS2 keyboard to take power transfer interface, at this time you should connect external power supply or through the transfer cable ps2 connected to keyboard to ensure that it have provided adequate power to the external hard disk, recommended that you should ensure the external hard drive have adequate power supply when you use it, otherwise, the external hard disk is likely to be damaged due to insufficient power supply.

        3, USB extension cable fault

        USB interface type does not match the external hard disk interface, this case caused it can not be used. For example the standard USB interface of the computer configuration is 1.1, while the external hard drives purchased are USB 2.0, which requires the cable connected computers and external hard disk must support USB 2.0 standard. Because high-speed mobile device plug in a low-speed hub, the device may not be properly installed, and some people use external hard disk while using USB flash drives, For convenience, they directly used USB 1.1 standard cable that supplied by USB flash drives, as a result, the USB 2.0 standard hard drive not be recognized correctly. Just replace it by the USB 2.0 standard cable can solve this problem.

        4, Windows version is too low

        Pre-Windows 98 operating system does not support USB peripherals, so in any case to install the driver, set the CMOS parameters are unable to make normal use of external hard disk. In this case, one solution is to upgrade the operating system up to Windows 98, another way is to Microsoft’s official site, download the appropriate patch to make it can identify mobile hard disk.

        5, The system is set incorrectly

        When installed driver, the external hard disk icon will be seen on the Device Manager for some Windows 98 users, but the Explorer does not include the corresponding letter identification, which is improper system settings. In the Device Manager, double-click the Hard Drive icon, and click the pop-up window in the “Properties” button, and you could see disconnect, could be deleted, synchronous data transmission and Int 13 unit four options, of which “could be deleted ” is no tick in front of the system, and simply check this option to restart your computer, you can see in the Explorer, the new external hard disk drive letter.

        While the failure of the external hard disk does not recognized are more the reasons, but generally not the USB interface or external hard disk’s own fault, so it requiring us to consider some more from around the association when exclude it, I believe you can successfully use the external hard disk.

The RMA mentioned above is issued to two customers? Don't know what kind of management is there to cater customer - At Our indian service center.

            Sir The Hard Disk in my computer fails and it is a Western Digital Hard Disk, Which was in Warranty, and i Booked Online Warranty Replacement and got a RMA No:#82014870 which was booked on 01 july 2010 So I Send my Hard Disk to Western Digital, The Sent Hard disk was received by them and after long frequent mails they told that we allot a Hard Disk and that may be despatched soon. But till now i not received my Hard Disk. When I contact Western Digital The Contact Toll Free number was Always said Busy, cant contact. When I Contact by Mail They Told that The Hard Disk Should despatched soon.

            Western Digital HDD — Replacement Of Western Digital HDD

            Hi,

            Kindly Refer to my RMA no.[protected] Date 17 Sep 2009.
            My Western Digital Hard disk drive 500 GB was picked up on 16 Oct 2009 after a several dozen reminder. But was returned to me without replacement.

            Then Again I want to replace the Western Digital HDD but I took me another 3 month to book my complaint on there toll free no[protected].. which is always giving busy tone..

            Again I got an opporutinity to lodge another complaint for the same Western Digital Hard disk drive with RAM No. 81664716 with Case Id WD[protected] a two weeks ago. But again there is no responce from Western Digital HDD Support Team.

            Please anyone suggest me that I want to return back this Western Digital Hard disk drive and want my money Back with damages. As Western Digital HDD annoyed me too much. Western Digital HDD wasted my a lots of precious time and money and my data....

            Hard Disk Drive/Western Digital — Warranty

            I brougth a 160 GB HDD from local Store,Brand-Western Digital about 6 months ago suddenly my device fail to work last week. I contact Western Digital Costurmer Centre and tell about my problem. Than they asked me to pack the Harddisk that a person person from nearby courier service will come to pick up the device within 24 to 72 hrs I wait and wait but no one come then again I made a complaint about nobody is coming. Then they againt asked me to handover the device to overnite express courier service branch officce at Paona Bazar, Imphal. I have handover the same to the same place 6 days ago. but the hard disk is still in the courier service. when I made further enquiry, the Western Digital Company is neglected to recieved my device.

            Complaint about harddisk. I Brought harddisk from Western Digital since october 2011.This harddisk has 3 years warranty. it is not working properly. so please check the harddisk.

              I am writing to inform you that I have shipped my WD 1.5TB HDD for replacement to RT enterprise as per instructions provided by Western Digital support center on 12th July 2010 with the following details:

              RMA No.82027090 for WD 1.5TB HDD.

              According to the policy it says that it takes 7 working days for replacement but it is almost 90 days now & Still I have not received any confirme update or mail from Western Digital side.

              The Western Digital customer care is always busy and I have to wait on hold for couple of hours which is ridiculous & no Western Digital support agent was providing any confirm information. Each time They are saying me to wait till this week as my model is not available. From last 3 months I am listening the same reason. When I tried to launch complaint via email provided on Western Digital web site, I received reply as "Thank you for contacting Western Digital"

              This irresponsible working of Western Digital as well as RT enterprise had caused me intense inconvenience. I would like to contact any organization which can help me to take strong action against such irresponsible companies.


              I look forward to hearing from you by return.

                I have same issue with them, RMA case was logged on19th Aug 2010, no one came to collect my 500 HDD so I went & subimitted that on 28th Aug 2010 but today is 21st Sept 2010 & I havn't get my unit beck.

                I am trying their Helpline No.[protected] for last one week they put me on 1 hr hold & no one picked the phone.

                  I had bought a WD essentials hardisk 2 months ago. It STOPPED working within a month and i have being tryint o get it replaced for over a month. But the useless phone and email support they have i havent yet being able to even send my hdd to them.

                  As i write this , I would like everyone to know i have connected to there phone support for the last one and half hour and Still on hold. while my 10 emails did me no good.

                  Western Digital has greatly disspointed me , its a waste i would buy a new seagate HDD and tell you all dont ever buy WD.

                    I have purchased a Western Digital (WD) Hard Disk from a Retailer. The company provides free pick up service if there is defect. I Have purchased this Hard Disk on 17th July, 2010 and found a Problem, so i registered for Replacement. The RMA No. is 82117470, I called the customer care thrice and was informed that the Hard Disk will be collected in next 24 hours but it has already passed more than 72 hours. Moreover whenever the call is made to customer care in day time the call is on waiting for more than an hour. The company is not giving a proper service.

                      I am writing to inform you that I have put a request to your company for replacement of Western Digital Hard Disk Drive on 06th July 2010 with the following details:

                      RMA No.82019549 for 1.5TB HDD

                      According to the policy it says that it takes 5 working days for replacement but it is almost past 55 days now & has not received any update or mail from your side.

                      From 06th July 2010 I have been calling the customer care which some times connect & maximum time doesn't even connect even after the hold for couple of hours which is ridiculous & I have spoken to Miz. Farah, Mr. Arif & Mr. Mohsin but no one is able to solve my query & always lie me by saying that you will be dispatching the Hard Disk Drive today & you will receive in 2 days it has never turned up & when I ask them that if you have dispatched the Hard Disk Drive please provide me the docket number but they have also fooled me by putting the my line on hold & then disconnected my call. I have also asked them to transfer the line to the head but they say that he never comes to the office which gives me a blank face of the company.

                      This error put me in a difficult position, as we had to make some emergency assignments & projects to fulfill. This has caused a considerable inconvenience as the computer is now fully loaded with the small Hard Disk as its taken such a long time to replace a 1.5 TB Hard Disk if the company is not able to provide service please don't fool us selling such kind of product in the market.

                      I am writing to ask that to please make up the replacement immediately.

                          Hi,
                          I bought a Western Digital My passport essential external Hard drive 2 weeks back from the US.
                          The drive was not detected by my laptop (I checked with other laptop as well). I raised a complaint with WD support and got an RMA#. I was told to sent it back to Western Digital's NCR office. They offered to pick this up. They said it is going to take 2 business days.
                          Even after 10 days, repeated calls/emails , they are yet to pick up my Hard disk.
                          Every week i call and there is some new excuse or the other.
                          Courier company, tomorrow will be done sir, public holidays etc.
                          You name it and they have the excuse.
                          The customer care fellows are so shameless, the put you on hold for checking the status and come back to say the same answer "tomorrow it will be done sir".Poor customer has to call again!

                          I just received my replacement internal hd from WD and after inspecting it I see it shows as recertified. I was unaware that they did not replace with a new HD even under warranty.Not a good consumer policy.

                            I purchased a 1000 GB memory external hard disk of the Western Digital company. WIthin 30 days, the disk malfunctioned and I lost 100 GB of important data. Instead of attempting to repair the disk ( as promised in their "on-site" warranty scheme) I was told it would need to be replaced and I would lose all my data.

                            I had to send the disk at a cost of Rs 500. After I sent the disk, they told me that I should not have paid for the courier. They promised to compensate for it by sending me a disk of higher capacity.

                            Afterwards, they sent me a replacement disk which:

                            1. Did not work
                            2. Had a warranty of only 2 years, as compared to my original disk's 3 year wattanty
                            3. Was of 1000 GB only. Hence, they decided not to compensate for my time and money loss.

                            I am sorry for responding late, May I know which model of hard drive did you receive. Can you provide with the details, like RMA number, when did you send it? Model number an serial number of the hard drive you have received?

                            I'd also like to know, what is the error you are facing while connecting the hard drive?

                            Is it getting recognized on your Computer?

                            Is there any specific error message?

                            Did you try to format the drive before using?

                            Normally you need to format the drive before you use it.

                            I hope it will help.

                              Western Digital External Hard Drives — Lousy Equipment

                              Western Digital products are junk. Bought a 3.5" MyBook 500GB External Drive on 07/24/07 (17 mths ago) and the drive has already stopped working. I'm not even a serious user. I only used this drive occasionally to store photos and videos, etc. Getting a clicking noise similar to another user that has posted a complaint here, which means the drive is kaput. What's the point in storing your memories on a hard drive that won't last any amount of time. I will never buy Western Digital products again. I have never experienced an electronic device to stop working in such a short time. Especially for something that just sits there and doesn't experience any movement, jarring, etc. Pieces of junk!!!
                              in sata 320 gb hard disk games are not installing...

                              Completely Agree on the comment that Western Digital India has a pathetic customer service, no fulfillment of their committments.

                              U need to call them everyday as we are only for them, They shall speak all good customer service language and finally will end up giving excuse and apologise.

                              No request or complaint number provided. And most importantly, calls gets connected only after 7/8 attempts.

                              Western Digital — Poor/Pathetic Service

                              I have a Western Digital 1TB Caviar Green serial no: WCAV5A128047 which has stopped functioning from the past 2 months. I registered a complaint since December 2010 and asked for an approval for Data Backup. On around the 2nd week of January I had asked them to pick up my Hard Disk. Till date no one has come to pick it up. All I get is false promises from their pick up team telling me that they will come tomorrow or some other day but in the end they don't show up. I am very disgusted and disappointed with their pathetic service. Their so called customer care number is useless because it takes more than 1 hour for someone to pick up the call (Guess because lots of people are unsatisfied with their product) . I regret my decision in buying this product. I should have stuck to Seagate like everyone told me but I guess having customer loyalties can have its disadvantages. My RMA number is 82442388
                              Still dealing with exactly the same scenario, been 3 weeks since they told me that the drive's been lost in transit and still asking me for 1 more week to deliver the issue. Their toll free remains busy, they don't respond on emails.

                                My western digital 250gb hard disk died and I registered with the company's tele support number on 29 March 2010 (RMA #[protected]; the disk was picked up by Gati couriers the next day and as per the promise by WD representative it takes only 4-5 days for the replacement. Today after 16 days, upon calling them I am told that they face 'not in stock' problem and this will take one more week. Incidentally the same answer was given to me last week too, when the tele-support executive gave me a confirmed date of 12th April as delivery date.
                                This entire process of collecting stuff from all over India to centralised facility (NOIDA, I believe) and handling it from there is from a bygone era. Today, world has moved to better procedures, but such companies are taking us Indians for granted perennially. Their website clearly shows that in the US the turnaround time is 5-7 days, European countries 9-11 days and rest of the world 3 weeks. RIDICULOUS! Its time we Indians wake up and fight this menace of such companies. I have decided NOT to buy anything from this brand in future and spread this to everyone I know/come in contact with.
                                STAY AWAY FROM WESTERN DIGITAL.

                                  I purchased WD 1 tera byte my book essential external HDD just 2 months back. Just after 15 days of purchase, the drive stooped working, i tried to call customer but those just put my call on hpld for 2 hours without answering. I have seen many worst customer care service like HP, but WD is worst of worst, nothing can beat them. my suggestion to fellow indians is please do not purchase any WD products.

                                  I bought a WD My Book Essential 1Gb External Drive in November 2009. The power supply died within 2 weeks. When calling WD support I was told they had forwarded my case to the logistic department and I would get a replacement within a week, but i didn't.I again call them and they told me that they where sorry and i would be getting the adapter within a week, but after several weeks of going back and forth finally they told me that they were out of stock and one would be sent when available. After going through this for 4 months today still they don't have an adapter. I asked the guy to forward my call to his superior, but he told me that he can't since my case was for the logistic department and even he suggested me to buy a local made adapter. I am still trying to talk to someone who can solve my problem but its of no use.
                                  4 months and there appears to be no end in sight to get a $15 power adapter replaced. Samsung replace drives in less than a week. In India try to stay away from WD if you can.
                                  This is happening with most customers. Somebody has to find details of contacts of their seniors and tell them the facts.

                                    Kindly Refer to my RMA no.[protected] Date 17 Sep 2009.
                                    My Western Digital Hard disk drive 500 GB was picked up on 16 Oct 2009 after a several dozen reminder. But was returned to me without replacement.

                                    Then Again I want to replace the Western Digital HDD but I took me another 3 month to book my complaint on there toll free no[protected].. which is always giving busy tone..

                                    Again I got an opporutinity to lodge another complaint for the same Western Digital Hard disk drive with RAM No. 81664716 with Case Id WD[protected] a two weeks ago. But again there is no responce from Western Digital HDD Support Team.

                                    Please anyone suggest me that I want to return back this Western Digital Hard disk drive and want my money Back with damages. As Western Digital HDD annoyed me too much. Western Digital HDD wasted my a lots of precious time and money and my data....

                                      I purchased a hard disk from Direct Advantage Shop at Nehru Place, Delhi on 18th march'2009 . It stopped working recently and when I applied for warranty I did not get it. It was due to fault at the end of Western Digital Company. i contacted them , but they have been telling me work will be done in 2 days and now it has been more than 2 months. I am compromising with my work for so long.

                                      The defective External drive 250Gb was sent through courier on 23rd March 2010 within few days of purchase from Nehru Place COST TO COST shop.The courier delivered the shipment to Western Digital on 25th march 2010. Till date WD site shows waiting for defective product . It appears to be a fraud company because they appears to have documented their standard reply to fool customers. Their standard reply is:
                                      "Dear Customer,
                                      Thank you for contacting Western Digital Service.
                                      We have received your drive and We have allotted your drive and the same

                                      will be dispatched soon.
                                      Western Digital Support Team"

                                      This reply gets repeated every time without any action. Some boby needs to take up the company for their custmer enemy behaviour.
