[Resolved] Western Digital — Western Digital Black 4TB Not Working
I recently had some trouble with my computer. I got it all fixed, but now my 4TB hard drive is not working correctly. My computer recognizes that there is something connected, and it knows the name of the HD, but it won't let me access or format the hard drive. I attempted restarting my computer several times, and downloading the drivers from the Western Digital website, but it still would not work. Can you suggest anything for me to try? Was this information helpful?

Verified Support Nov 17, 2014 Western Digital Customer Care's response Hi Sanjeev7sharma, I am sorry to hear about it. I’d like to check with you, as you mentioned that HDD installed on PC; its as a primary or secondary drive? If as primary, did you try to install OS on it? Have you tried to connect the HDD to another PC? Could you give me some more details about that? For the meantime, I, d suggest you some basic troubleshooting steps that may help you to solve the issue. 1) Try to use different port on same MOBO. 2) Try to use different SATA cable. 3) Try to use a secondary HDD on another computer. 4) Try a different disk to make sure that the problem is with the Port and not with the original disk. 5) Check the power management in Windows or the BIOS menu as well to see what all options are on and which ones are off. Hope it helps.

Hi Anil.Kumar9,
I am sorry to hear about it. Just like to check with you, after connection the hard drive show with only HD name or its shows with drive letter as well? And you are trying to do format the HDD from BIOS or from OS. Give snapshot or the specific error message, When you are accessing and format the drive. For meanwhile, what you could try first is run DLG, to see if there are any hardware faults.
If possible, try to connect HDD with another working computer and run the Windows Data Lifeguard Diagnostics in system. Please refer to the link below for Windows Data Lifeguard Diagnostics:
