I had purchased the phone on july 15th, 2019 however i started using the phone only in september, on 18th sept, 2019 evening 7.00 pm there was a software upgrade after which the phone was in mi logo loop and no switch was functional it was going on until the battery was dead.
19th sept i had taken it to authorised mi service center [radiant e serve] at ameerpet, hyderabad. To my shock i was told that it would cost rs. 12, 800 for the repair of the phone as water had entered the phone and the motherboard, the display, power key and the connector pin had been damaged and that including gst would be the total cost.
I was clear that there was no chance of water or any liquid spill as i carry 3 phones and i had showed him the other 2 phones too, all i could infer was the service center tech. Did not want to invoke the warranty for whatever reason best known to him.
Subsequently i called the customer care center and was discussing the issue when the executive cut the call, i was unable to contact them again nor did any representative of xiaomi call me to clear the issue. I also sent an email, where i received a standard answer that since water has entered the phone warranty does not hold.
I request you to kindly look into this matter as i firmly believe that the software upgrade had damaged my phone by going into the mi logo loop, and i am very clear that no water or any liquid has either entered or spilled as claimed by the technicians
