I had used services of DRS Agarwal Packers and Movers to send my household items from Chennai to Gurgaon. Booking Date was 16 February 2013. GC No: 4298278
Following were the items sent by me:
1) 1.5 Ton Window AC
2) Refrigerator- 260 Litres
3) Steel Almira
4) 1 Suitcase
5) Mattress and Pillow
6) 2 Stabilizers (for AC and Refrigerator respectively)
7) Carton Box having miscellaneous items
I had received the consignment on March 1, 2013 but my major items, had been received in damaged condition. Following are details:
1) Refrigerator: Door is dented at several places, Feet of the refrigerator are broken. (Model: Whirpool Fusion, 260 Litres)
2) Air Conditioner: Dented at several places, Cooling Coils Dented (Model: 1.5 Ton, Carrier AC)
3) Almira: Dented at several places including base, cannot stand properly, doors not opening easily as they are dented.
Before shipping of consignment, the survey for items was conducted by Mr Dilli Babu from Chennai (Contact No: [protected]) who had assured me of complete safety of goods through use of wooden crates.
However, I was thoroughly disappointed on the day of packing itself, as sufficient packing material in the form of thermocole, bubble wrapping and wooden crates was NOT used. Mainly corrugated sheet was used for packing (with lamination). I had pointed out the same to customer feedback call that I had received from Agarwal Packers and Movers.
Now, as mentioned by me already, my major items were received in damaged condition. I had taken insurance for all items at the time of booking consignment.
Also, at the time o[censored]nloading in Gurgaon, the people that had come for delivery were asking for extra charge for unloading of items which shows the insensitivity the company has towards their customers, given the fact that my items were received in damaged condition.
I request Agarwal Packers and Movers to arrange for replacement of my household items, i.e. Refrigerator, AC and Almira which have been received in damaged condition. Please note that I had been tried to contact the company on phone then but each person that I am contacting is asking me to contact some other person within their organisation.
So I sent them an email explaining the entire issue and posted the same on their Youtube and Facebook Page after which I got a call from them. They told that they would be sending a surveyor for inspection of damaged items.
I had requested them to inform me atleast a day in advance of the surveyor's visit so that I am at home. After a few days, when nobody had visited I gave them a call and I was told that the surveyor would be reaching within 1 hour that day itself. I was in office so I had to rush back to my home.
After survey was conducted by surveyor, I got a call back from Agarwal Packers and Movers after 2 days that they can give me a compensation of Rs 4500/- in all.
I was furious as my damaged items are worth more than Rs 50000/- and since I had given my items in good condition at time of dispatching, I deserve to get back the items in good condition. But still I asked them to arrange for repair of items themselves to my satisfaction level (where repair is possible) and arrange for replacement of AC (where cooling coils were damaged and repair is not advisable). Till now I have not got any response.
