Website: AIR INDIA

Dear Sir,

Sub : 5 passenger’s extra luggage charges to be refunded @2755 from Air India

This has reference to our extra luggage charges from Air India.

Extra luggage expenses were booked online from Delhi to Bahrain on November 14th, 2021; nevertheless, they were reflected on our departure booking from Bahrain to Delhi on November 22nd, 2021 on the same Ticket Number owing to an internet error.

We attempted many times to contact Air India, including the return baggage department and customer service, by phone and email conversation. They haven’t responded to our calls or emails. When we try to contact the customer service department, we typically get a negative response. They quickly unplugged the phone, giving no time to respond or make a decision.

Please find attached the feed backreference numbers for your convenience.

Hello, my name is Falak Parikh. I was boarded from Vadodara to Delhi on 16th Feb, 2022 with my other luggage for international departure. Although, at Delhi airport, I didn’t received my 7 kg Black backpack. So, immediately made a complaint at luggage department and done the paperwork. Also, my dad had enquired at air India office at Vadodara. Thus, we were told that bag should be delivered at the destination (Toronto), but, it’s not yet. So, please I urge you to resolve this issue as my bag contains so many precious and important things

Air India is not refunding my tickets and no one responds at their call center. They will deliberately disconnect the phone. I have filed my refund through their feedback form and provided them with my cancelled tickets/eticket details multiple times. They have stopped responding.

My feedback reference number is WB-IDEL[protected] and name is Gurdeeppal Singh. There are three additonal passengers and our tickets were booked from Delhi to Singapore on 8th Jan 2022.

      My eticket number is[protected].

Air Indian is one of the worst customer experiences one can encounter. Refund my money, I have been mentally harrased.

This is Vikas Kumar Jain. I have canceled my ticket (for 2 passengers I paid around 1.9 L) which I booked from airindia customer support ticketing department. My e-ticket numbers are[protected] and[protected]. I have already submitted the feedback form to get the refund. As my ticket was booked through the ticketing department hence I have shared my bank account details as well for the refund. I have called the customer service team more than 30 times. It’s been more than two month I am waiting for my refund and still, I haven’t got my money back. I am always told to wait for a few more days on each and every call and the customer care team is giving false assurances. On twitter I was always told we have forwarded your request to concerned team. Whenever I call to customer support they put my call on never ending hold or drop the call. I am extremely furious about this rude and insulting behavior of the customer team. I am not getting any help from air india. I don’t know how my refund will be process.

Customer support mostly told me that they are transferring the call to their concerned team and I waited almost 1 hour and the call was simply disconnected by them without saying a single word. I called them again and when I explained my case she just suddenly went silent and not replied me back. The worst customer care I ever experienced in my entire life giving false assurances and rude behavior to the customers. I think they are stealing the money. This is what I can conclude by this behavior. No more words to say. I just want my money back (refund) of Rs. 1.9 lac.

          Dear Ecommerce team

I am so much stressed and tensed that I am not able to get any response from the Air India team regarding my re- scheduling ticket issue.
Earlier, we booked PNR: YVY9V and HN1K6 for the journey between Delhi to Sydney.
9th Feb, I informed that my both parents: MAHESH CHAND PARIHAR and VIMALA PARIHAR are covid positive therefore, their trip was cancelled and as they cannot travel alone, so my ABHIJEET MAHESH ticket was also put on hold under PNR: HN1K6.
We went to re-issue tickets on 14 Feb, with a negative report and the Air India Jaipur office said, no seats are available till 7th March. Parents visa is expiring on 4th March therefore, we must need a ticket between 20-28 Feb.
I found a few seats on 21 and 22 Feb so I informed the Air India twitter account where I was asking for help. Call center staff "Navjeet" was managing my case and even I have case id 14059005. He found the seats and he sent me a payment link to pay the fare difference of Rs. 127719 that we paid instantly. I have also received sms on my phone for the payment. Then I saw PNR: J5LVP and my name was wrong, correct name is ABHIJEET MAHESH and PNR was showing ABHIJEET PARIHAR, so I informed Navjeet that please edit the name. When he was editing the name, he cancelled the PNR and the seat was gone, now he is not responding and no one is giving any response. Where is the money gone if seats are not booked. Please provide assistance and swift response.
I checked at the Air India Jaipur airport office that both PNR: J5LVP and Z9CF7 are cancelled.

Dear Complaints Department of Air India.

I am so sorry to have to raise a complaint against your excellent airline company, who in the past I have enjoyed wonderful service from Air India and your staff. However, after nearly 2 years of trying to get satisfaction from my request for a full refund on an air ticket[protected], that your company cancelled and made me purchase a new ticket, (saying I would get a full refund from Air India), I now have to resort to making an official complaint that last thing I wanted to do. What happened is that I have a dual nationality and I was in Israel and had booked my flight from there to India, using my Israeli passport for the air ticket. However my Indian visa was under my Brazilian passport name of Jose Walter Carneiro Da Silva because I have dual citizenship for both countries Israel and Brazil.
When I have travelled previously to India from Israel I have had no issue with using my Israeli name of Walter Kerenor to fly out of Israel but then enter into India with my Brazilian passport name on the visa. But when leaving Israel on 29/02/2020, I was told when I
arrived at the check in Desk in Israel that the rules had changed and that I was no longer able to fly using a different name to fly out of Israel to enter India with a different name as on the visa (which had always been acceptable before). I was not made aware of this new change of policy
when I was making my booking, otherwise I would not have taken the action I did at the time of the booking. As I result I had to pay for a new ticket but the lady at the check said I could apply for a
refund on the first ticket I had purchased, hence this request.

Since March 2020 I have sent innumerable e-mails, feedback forms, phone calls to your company to try and get a resolution, only to be fobbed of every time. Then of course the pandemic hit and I appreciated that this would cause challenges to you, so I have been very patient waiting and waiting. Finally last year I got a partial refund paid to my debit card holder's account but it was $!50 USD short, of what I had paid for on this ticket. When I challenged this I received a message saying it is a cancellation fee as per your rules, I have been paid in full!

How can that be, since it was your company that cancelled my ticket, not me. Surely an international and reputable company such as yours, does not actually have to act in this way, when I did not cancel the air ticket but your office in Tel Aviv did! Not only that but having waited 20+ months to get a partial refund, is not on and really I should be getting compensation for loss of interest on my money, but I am not asking for that I am only asking that I be given the full refund.

When the pandemic struck in 2020, I was in India and I had booked to leave by Air India on 29.04.2020 from Delhi on air ticket[protected] and this was cancelled because all flights out and into India were cancelled, so I could not use my air ticket but instead I had to get airlifted out of India by my government Israel to fly home. I then waited over 12 months to get this refund after many requests to Air India.

I also wrote to your Nodal officer George Aby, but he never had the decency to even reply to my message, is that really on for an officer of a reputable company to act? Now 2 weeks ago I wrote to your Chief Vigilance Officer, Mr. Aditya K. Joshi, but either he does not exist or that he never received my email as to-date I have had no reply!

Anyway I have attached other documents that might help you to see how much time, money and energy I have used trying to get satisfaction. Please can you at last resolve my issue. I have other documentations, emails I could attach, but I think what I have sent should enable you to consider my case in a fair and equitable way.

Original letter for requesting refund shown below 05.03.2020

Dear Customer Service Team Air India

First of all I just want to say how much I enjoyed travelling with Air India and the onboard service was
excellent and the staff very friendly & helpful which is why I love going to India because of the
            hospitality afforded to tourist.

However I had an issue on my flight from Tel Aviv Israel to Guwahati via Delhi which I had booked in
my Israeli Passport Name of Walter Kerenor but my Indian visa was in my Brazilian Name of Jose
Walter Carneiro Da Silva because I have dual citizenship for both countries Israel and Brazil.
When I have travelled previously to India I have had no issue with using my Israeli name of Walter
Kerenor to fly then enter into India with my Brazilian passport name on the visa. But I was told when I
arrived at the check in Desk in Israel on the 29/02/2020 that the rules had changed and that I was no
longer able to fly using a different name to fly out of Israel to enter India with a different name as on

refund on the first ticket I had purchased, hence this request.

Please therefore can you advise me how I can apply for a full refund on my first ticket. I appreciate that
you have policies in place that may preclude you offering me a refund but this is a genuine case of not
being informed of this change of policy and I would appreciate help in this matter.

My details of booking are as follows: -

MY REPLY TO THE ABOVE EMAIL APRIL 21/2020

            Dear Anushree.
            Air India Customer care centre
            RE: COMPLAINT ID 01653292
I refer to your message requesting details of the e-ticket and first name and last name of person
            regarding my complaint.

The Booking Reference I got given when booking online was J45EQ and the e-ticket number is
[protected] date of travel 29/02/2020. I also attach a scanned copy of the Ticket itinerary /receipt
ticket. My name MR WALTER KERENOR.

Below a copy of the original email sent explaining the problem I have with you, i.e that I was made to
purchase a new ticket from Tel Aviv Israel to Guwahati which because I have a dual passport but my
visa was in my Brazilian Name but my air ticket was in my Israel passport name. As I have always
previously been able to enter India using my dual passport I was informed by your check in lady in Tel
Aviv that the rules had changed but there was no notification to give me that information, so I was
stuck and was told I would get a refund on this ticket which this email refers to.
I wait your response to this situation and know that as you are a reputable airline that you will
            endeavour to satisfy my concern.
With much appreciation in attending to this matter.
            Sent 14/12/2021
Dear Customer Service Team Air India

I refer to your email message sent to me 14.12.2021, in reference to my WB-IDEL[protected], where you say that the refund I received was in accordance with your rules and regulations. However I have to respectfully challenge you on this because I did not cancel the flight, but your airline operative in Tel Aviv did, because my visa for India was in my dual nationality Brazilian Name of Jose
Walter Carneiro Da Silva and not in my Israeli name.Walter Keren Or. I have traveled many times to India using either or name on a visa to enter India regardless of the name on my travel ticket. However your operative said that the rules had changed, so hence I had to buy a new ticket in the visa name, but don't worry I would get a full refund from Air India. Surely it was not upto Air India to refuse to let me fly on a valid passport regardless of having a visa in my other name? It would be up to India Immigration to either allow me to enter or refuse me to enter India.

I have been writing constantly to Air India since March 2020 asking for my refund, to which despite many and mean many assurance that I would get my refund, nothing but nothing, until after going through your feedback system, then finally I got the partial refund of $368.66 USD despite my paying you $518.66 USD. This makes a shortfall of $150 USD.

I have waited for over 19 months now, to get even a token refund from you and that is totally wrong, since it is not I who cancelled my ticket but you. And not only that, rather than you not giving me my full refund, you should be paying me compensation for the length of time it has taken you to actually refund me this partial amount of $368.66.

Please therefore in the interest of goodwill, will you now authorize my outstanding $150USD and in a reciprocal gesture of goodwill on my part, I will not make any further claim for compensation etc.

I attach yet again my original letter and various email responses for your attention and I hope that soon a satisfactory outcome will be achieved for both parties.

            Thank you
            Best regards
            Walter Keren Or

            FINAL COMMENT

I really pray that you will deal with this complaint in an equitable and just manner and I know you may not think that losing $150 USD is much, but it is to me and I hope that you will act swiftly and rightly in this matter.

            Thank you
            Best regards
            Walter Keren Or

I refer to my many request for satisfaction to my request for the balance of my refund as shown in my last two messages by this method to your office 24th of February 2022 and 26th of March 2022. As to-date I have not had one iota of any response from you and is this the way that an international company does business? Please have the decency to deal with my many complaints that have been ongoing for over 2 years now. Thank you Walter Keren-Or. My email address is c/o [protected]@gmail.com

My flight from Mumbai to Newark was cancelled on Jan 19th. I have been calling everyday to get a refund. I even submitted the feedback form, but it was rejected as I booked the flight via customer rep of Air India.

The recorded prompts are pathetic. I have to wait for more than 45 min to get a rep. And in most cases, they hang up in between. And in cases they dont hang up, the standard response is that someone will call back in 24 hours. But the person never calls.

Why is Air India following such unethical and corrupt business practice ? Whys is taking so long to issue a refund ?

AI 173 Flight from Delhi to San Francisco 20/2/2022. My baggage was held in India due to having a power bank inside the bag. It was supposed to send it in next flight. When I arrived in San Francisco was assured I will receive my bag in 2-3 days. I received my bag after 4 days. When I opened my bag few of the items was missing from my bag. Items worth almost $1000.

Hi, I would like to bring to your notice that I have suffered alot in Delhi airport on 22/02/2022, 21:25 flight AI 839 by the negligence of air india staff. The flight was over loaded with the passengers and they have troubled me alot to issue boarding pass and couldn't able to provide me a seat. They have accepted the mistake of not providing the seat. They issued boarding pass for 23/02/2022. Because of this I couldn't able to attend job and considered as loss of pay. This is completely air lines fault for which you need to compensate it. I'm attaching my airticket. Pls look into it.

                    Hi Air India Customer Service,

I had booked myself from Toronto to Delhi on 26th November 2021 via AI-188 on seat # 49 B & back on 15th December 2021 through AI-187 on seat # 25 D. As you are fully aware that the flight AI - 188 was to take off at 1130 hrs but took off after 2200 hrs that evening from Toronto. I have couple of serious complaints to lodge:-

We were asked to board the plane when it was already known to the technical team/airline staff that there is a need for a part replacement before we can take off. This resulted in us being stranded on plane for up to 11 hours in addition to the 15 hours of flying hours. Instead of showing consideration, the airline staff and security guys were beyond rude and uncourteous in their behavior, and even removed their name tags to prevent any repercussions or action against them. I was not allowed to use the restroom for extended hours, which is not feasible for me given my age and health with medicines i am using.

We were served very low-quality food with no consideration to food preferences. There was lack of non-vegetarian options as well as alcoholic beverages including beer, hard liquor, which is paid for the flight fees when booking a ticket. They did NOT have beer or hard liquor in stock. We were served snacks such as Haldiram Dal Bhujia for Breakfast, which certainly is not acceptable at all as i need proper meal before I take my prescription medication. Furthermore, to make matters worse, I witnessed an airline staff keeping packets of beverages in her Cyan color baggage ( full Size ) which I suppose should not be allowed to be there.

The RIGHT ARM rest of seat ( 49 B ) was another very serious issue as enclosed in picture. As u can see it that plastic sheet on the steel sheet was absolutely displaceable. My right arm had developed pain in elbow which is still persistent.

The LEFT arm was covered with plastic sheet but again was to be fixed time and again. I had to inclined on left side all along during more than 25 hrs including stay at Toronto, which caused discomfort and persistent pain in my wrist, arm, elbow and back.
Your delay has caused me additional financial, physical & mental issues. I lost couple of days to get back on track to utilize my stay in India.
The taxi waiting charges were added on.

On arrival at Delhi, i was unable to commute to Chandigarh directly due to stiffness in body and had to stay in Hotel at Delhi.

Even after reaching back Toronto, my right elbow is paining very badly and unable to lift up anything heavy. My right knee is frozen and rather the whole leg is stiff and in pain.

My whole 18 days stay in India had been jeopardize
I am so sorry to write about this whole affair but i need respectable compensation.

                    Thanking you,

                    Mukesh Bali

It was on 4th June, 2021 that i made a transaction of Rs.3906 as per Air india customer care agent who gave me a link for payment for rescheduling the ticket. The first transaction made through UPI mode was successful from my bank account but the agent said Air India didn't receive it, and that the amount will return to my bank soon. Hence i made the payment again on her assurance, which was successful. But the first amount didn't reach me yet. Ticket number[protected]. Complaint number registered with Air india[protected]

                            Respected Sir/Madam
I'm Zakira Asharef residing in Nedumangad. I and my kids was ready to travel to Dubai on 9/2/2022. I got RTPCR result from DDRC LAB on 08/02/2022 at 6pm, which showed COVID Negative result . But in Trivandrum Airport they forged my Rapid Test report to Positive. Due to which I was not boarded in flight and returned back home. The very next day on 10/02/2022, I took another RTPCR TEST & Guess what ???the result was Negative. The Microhealth laboratories in Trivandrum is providing wrong COVID test reports to the passsengers. They are totally corrupted. They asked me for money to change the positive report to negative. Also, they told me that the RTPCR done by me is not accurate & is of no use. But originally RTPCR is world wide accepted & of Golden standards. Because it's result we get after 8 hours. I was sure that I don't have COVID. Their reports are fake. Also, Air India staffs didn't checked my RTPcR report. They went with the fake Rapid test report & didn't allow me to board on flight. Due to which I failed to reach Dubai. On 10th Feb my Entry permit visa got expired.I need justice for the loss & stress I beared. So, I'm registering complaint against Air India. Please take severe action against the Air India for such an irresponsible & irrelevant behaviour to the passsengers. The Air India staffs aren't listening to the passengers query. These Micro Health Laboratories & Flights are mutually connected. Please find the proof of report attached below

I have booked a flight through Air India Airlines from Mumbai to Cochin to fly on 24th March 2020, due to lockdown announced in India and Mumbai from 22nd March 2020, due to CoViD, I could not fly, time and again I have following-up with ease my trip, through which I have booked Air India Flight and Air India Office, Nariman Point, they asked me to wait as Court case was going on for the same, after waiting for 1.5 years, I have been asked to claim refund by ease my trip and Air India deducted the full cancellation and paid me just 200 Rs, as if I am a begger and asking for their money. No one is responding to my emails and not offering any solution. This is so humiliating and case of cheating public money.

I had booked my parents travel from Ahmedabad, India to Raleigh/Durham, USA from 05/05/2021 - 30/09/2021. The e-ticket numbers are as follows:
                                    Pratibha Mehta[protected]
                                    Dilipkumar Mehta[protected]

Due to travel ban imposed by US government from 04/05/2021, my parents could not travel as planned. As the tickets were booked through Expedia, I had immediately taken action to notify Expedia. At the time, Expedia confirmed that the booking was canceled and I could use the refund for future travel for the same passengers and same carrier i.e. AirIndia as far as booking is made before 31/03/2022.

However, when I called Expedia for booking my parents future flights from 10/03/2022 - 14/08/2022, they said the travel has to be completed by 10/03/2022.

When I called AirIndia about the issue, after several tries, I was directed to ticketing department where Vidhya explained that as per the waiver issued on October 1st, I should be able to book the tickets and use the travel funds. She tried helping to book tickets for me, but she could not complete it as my tickets were originally issued by Expedia and advised me to work with Expedia.

When I called Expedia back for the same, they said that AirIndia did not update them with the waiver code and they need the same. The representative also, made a call to AirIndia, however, the AirIndia representative Khushbu told him that she will arrange a call back and Isha should receive a call from AirIndia within 4 hours and she will be helped with the booking. I did not receive any call and upon inquiring again and again, I receive same response that we would like to help and we will arrange a call back. I have received ‘0’ call backs from AirIndia.

I have received no call back after more than 20 calls made to the customer service. It has been frustrating and I would like to receive a REFUND, so, I don't have to travel by AirIndia ever again.

This is not only financially draining, but also emotionally and mentally draining experience for me.

As much as, I was excited about meeting my parents and them flying on TATA owned AirIndia, I am disappointed with your customer service.

                                      Hi Air India Team,

This is to bring your notice by raising a complaint against additional charges which has been collected from us in lieu for excess baggage, we had a flight to bangalore from delhi against PNR Z3DL7 and we were carrying 4 luggage bags and 2 laptop bags (precisely only contained only laptops), As per the itinerary we were allowed to take check-in with 50KG (2 pas) and 14KG (2 Pas) for cabin but Air india staff at counter has told us that only one bag is allowed in cabin so we can carry only laptop bag which is only 2-3 KG and the smallest bag of 7KG which we wanted to carry with us in cabin has not be allowed we have been charged against that bag (7KG) and have been told us that no passengers are allowed to take more than 1 bag whether its laptop bag or hand bag. Contrary to that we have seen many passengers carrying small cabin size bags with laptop bags and rules also state the same excluding cabin luggage we can carry one laptop or hand bag. We have also asked the staff to show us the rules when and where it's changed but no one has been able to show the written statement at the check in counter and at the boarding gate. We were getting late and we do not want to miss the flight so we have asked for details where we can raise our concern online.

As a frequent air india flyer, I have faced this difficulty very first time and wanted to highlight the unfair charges which have been collected from us for 7KG bag which we could carry in the cabin including laptop bags.

Please record my concern and request you to investigate and refund the excess charges. I thought things had changed for the better of air India when TATA took over because I was a tata employee for 5 yrs and I know the values of tata but unfortunately my latest experience is completely different.

                                      Thanks & Regards
                                      Sumit
