I am Lt Cdr Anuradha, an ATC officer posted in Goa.
I travelled home by airindia flight on 30 Dec from Goa to Delhi to Chandigarh on same day same PNR. The halt between the two connecting flights at Delhi was sufficient to transfer luggage.
At chandigarh post landing and waiting for close to 35 mins when my bag didn't come on the belt, I bagan to look for airindia reps but sadly to inform you that nobody from your airline was there. This was when I reached CISF personnel and then somebody turned up after further 10 mins.
She confirmed to me that my bag is left in Delhi and it would be sent by next flight to chandigarh and subsequently my home. Believing that lady named, Jyoti, I went home and tried calling airindia from 2000 h till 2130 h but no response and so I did not get my luggage that day.
Following day, I started calling up air india counter at chandigarh and delhi, got the number of airindia manager of chandigarh but its truly sad to tell you that nobody answers the call untill 15-16 calls.
I spoke to one lady Pooja at chandigarh where in that confused woman made statements which were not at all acceptable, especially when I am myself from aviation. Ultimately she hanged up the call saying the bag is not traceable and they are not sure if the bag was even uploaded from Goa only. Again, how could somebody make a statement of this sort when the previous day it was confirmed that bag was left in Delhi by none other but airindia rep.
I spoke to manager, Mr Gulshan Mehta, again a bit time disappointment who was totally disinterested and could only say he will check but never reverted. It was me who called up all over the world to check the location of my bag and learnt that it was in Delhi. I called up the manager to tell him the same who as expected didn't make an effort to this issue of mine and I requested him to send my bag same day by night that is 31st.
Later in night after making 20-25 calls to air india ohd I got confirmation that my bag has been sent to chandigarh and nobody from chandigarh cared to inform me. Later in night again I called up this manager and all that he could say was its too late to send the bag at 2045h. Ridiculous.
01 Jan, even at 1300h, this manager doesn't know what is the plan ahead to send the bag and it is more that 50 hrs since I reached home.
It is my sincere request to kindly sensitive your staff to customers grievances. Just because the bag doesn't belong to you doesn't mean it is not important. The way your people has reacted is very pathetic. No good leadership, no plan, no vision. Had it been indigo or vistara, I can say it with 100%surity that I would have got my bag same day and that's the reason these airlines are doing well.
All I can say is that its our (defense personnel) bad luck that we are mandated to travel by this airline.
