As per request from the Airtel team, I personally visited the post paid center which is 60 kms away from my location (Gadag, has only prepaid centers) for which I had to personally, invest time (almost half of my day) and money to go to the store and get the formalities done.
The concerned took the original Aadhar card and the photograph and to my shock, next day the sim change request was cancelled. And the reason initially mentioned was document mismatch, later when I escalated the issue saying when the document is same which is provided while taking the original sim and also the re-issue, how can there be a mismatch. On this arguement, they promised me to check with the backend and get back to me. No one got back to me and when cald again they said it was a Photo mismatch. I was shocked to hear this since I had similar issue with other two sims on my name, which got processed easily (at Mumbai and Bangalore post paid centers).
On enquiring for alternative solutions, I was only repeatedly said to visit the stores, which is really worst solution as in a person from a management level is forced to waste half a day, money for a silly mistake of some person in the post paid center. I even requested to make arrangements of getting this process done at their prepaid center or send someone from their post paid center, as it was their mistake. But the support person, advisor and the floor manager did not help and kept repeating the same thing on visiting the store.
I would request consumer court to take up this issue, as in no customer would like to waste his time, energy and money in going to store, checking on reason for cancellation and revisiting the store and also raising a complaint.
Airtel customer support has been notified about the posted complaint.
