Threaten with Legal notice for non-payment of bill

Respected Sir,

I wish to raise a complaint of a legal notice sent by Bharati Airtel for non-payment of bills in spite of repeatedly telling to cancel the SIM provided which they claim we have used the same. A service which was not activated at all.
They went back on the promise of switching from post-paid to prepaid 2 times and that prompted us to cancel the SIM.

Now they are threatening my Wife who is staying alone with a kid, with calls and legal notice to pay which is like coercing forcefully to pay on services not rendered, with a bill of Rs 2083.

I have attached the mail I have send as complaint to the airtel email ids. Since I stay in Mumbai, I cannot visit Bangalore for a cancellation of SIM. My Wife is made to run around and she is in tears now with this legal threatening.

Kindly help.

Dear Sirs / Madam,

My wife has received a legal notice from Suresh Advocate High Court, Bangalore ( SA Associates ).

This notice is deplorable and tantamount to threatening or coercing to pay for a service which was not rendered for whatever reasons of communication failure.
I am writing this mail on the advice of Mohan Babu of SA associates - [protected] with this email-ids provided by him. I need an urgent redressal of this issue.

I am away in Mumbai and my wife stays alone with a small kid. This amounts to transgressing the peace of my family when they are alone.

Brief about this case :

1. This SIM ref : [protected] is the free SIM offered when my minor son staying in Engineering college hostel purchased a HP laptop stating that it is postpaid and later can be converted to prepaid.
2. In spite of telling we require the SIM only if it is Prepaid one, else we do not wish to take the SIM.
3. Promises were given, it can be converted to prepaid after one month and we paid 750rs for the first month reluctantly.
4. The conversion did not happen- we raised a complaint and they said it cannot be converted to prepaid and we need to continue with this SIM as POSTPAID.
5. My wife said take the SIM back, we do not want the SIM...please cancel the same went to kaikondanahalli Bangalore office to cancel the same.
6. We requested them to cancel the SIM which was activated...never used...and do not know if they cancelled it.
7. A person came to my house and promised ...please continue with this SIM, this will be converted to Prepaid another promise was made and it was not activated eventually.
8. Bill was sent for POST PAID in spite of saying categorically we will not pay.
9. We refused to pay for services not rendered.
10. Airtel office started calling for non-bill payment, which we told them in no clear terms ...we do not want the service and we will not pay for services not activated at all 2nd time.

Now this legal notice is sent, which is unfair and unprofessional.

I have two other 2 SIM cards of Airtel [protected] - Prepaid and [protected] Prepaid which my wife owns. I have a two more SIMs of BSNL and IDEA and Broadband services of BSNL.

We are staying in a respected locality for the past 12 years. Do you want to threaten and coerce your customers for non-payment of NO SERVICE provided.

I will be forced to seek legal advice and consumer courts and switch over to other service providers.

Secondly this is amounting to harassment of a respectable Lady staying alone and making her lose her sleep.


Please consider, there has been a huge communication gap within Airtel organisation of not cancelling the SIM in spite of repeated visits and calls.

I need a reply as soon as possible. I am reaching there on 27th for a day, I need this sorted out.

    Sir,
    I reside at the national capital of the country still i am not able to get the services of airtel fixed line broadband connecntion.
    I am trying since past 2 years regarding the same issue. They say your area is not feasible.
    Worst Part is I have to go for MTNL. which is worst
    I reside at South Ganesh Nagar near Shakarpur where airtel is feasible as my friends reside there.
    I request you to provide your services in this area also. As until and unless you'll not start one connection How would you get more. So expecting an early response from your side.

      January Month Airtel Postpaid last time data show 800-900 MB available then few minutes ago I have received customer care message "your 90% data used". Dated 20.02.206 at 12:00 hrs. night I receive 1 GB data, on this date at 09:30-10:00 hrs. I receive Airtel company message "You have consumed 90% Data" but I have no use data more than 20MB on this time . I call for Airtel Customer care for knowledge of Data use detail but she (customer care) told me "Data consumed detail are not available in Customer care centre.

      So please against action to the Airtel Company fraud.

        have a problem regarding the connecting of my number ([protected]) from other network.when sombody tries to call me from numbers of other then airtel it says that number does not exists Also it is not being recharged through internet even from my airtel app. you plz solve this problem or i will port out.

          My dth number is [protected].ikids package added in July and it was running and charge is deducted by airtel from account. When I called customer care they say they called the primary number ask after saying yes they activate it. I want to know why they call for promotional services. I want I kids change cost refund
          It is not my mistake. I request not to call earlier also but airtel often do this things

            Recently airtel has stopped cash back offers for third party apps such as paytm & freecharge.
            My concern is though airtel being a no 1 platform for consumers i[censored] dont support third party promotions you are going to lose many users as online recharges are based only on cash back offers and that is trend nowadays.
            Please start giving cashback offers on third party apps!!

            i completely agree. Why would i stay with airtel when they are not giving cashback or discount offers on bill payments. I have already enrolled for MNP for 3 Airtel numbers that i have.

              I have received message from company message 129 to auto renewal scheme on 14/2/16 so i can get 10% discount on that and carry my unused 500 mb data to next month to use . so i confirmed that scheme and recharge for sufficient balance auto renewal pack but on 20/02/16 i have lost my unused 500 mb data and paid to use 3g data pack. my airtel mobile number is [protected] from airtel network provider.

                My Customer ID is [protected] for digital TV connection which I have taken in December 2011 with clear package description of "South Economy Sports"and accordingly I have been paying my subscription charges. I had also subscribed 2nd TV for few months and had de-activated same as my 2nd TV was not working. I used to get calls from Airtel to re-activate the 2nd TV and I had been refusing to renew subscription for 2nd TV. I am not sure whether the company has been deducting charges for 2nd TV or not as my subscription charges were always short-lived although I have been paying for entire year in advance.

                Now in July 2015, I paid Rs.3685 towards 1 year subscription charges and my set top for the 2nd TV was also surrendered to the company on 04.08.2015.

                Now I am getting notice stating my subscription is expiring in Feb, 22, 2016 although I am eligible for the period upto end July 2016. The excuse given by the call centre is that I have subscribed "South Economy Sports" although I am located in Maharashtra.

                My question why in the first place the company gave me the package of "South Economy Sports" ? When my subscription was collected on line it was never told to me that I am not eligible for "South Economy Sports". I have been getting all the channels of my choice in this package. Why now the subscription is short-lived when I have paid upto July 2016.

                This is out-right cheating of consumer and all my calls to the company has only ended up in frustration.

                  I am rajendra kumar maurya (mob-[protected]) i am working as manager in hindustan aeronautics ltd (ministry of defence u/t), kanpur.
                  I have already get closed my airtel post paid connection (mob no.-[protected]) in sep 2015 and also handed over my sim card to your representative.
                  But still i am getting alerts for paying bill generated after my connection cut. There is some system fault as told by airtel representative at your lal bangla, kanpur store. He told me some sr number also to justify that my connection is closed and told that i need not to pay anything there is some system fault. But still i am getting calls/sms/mail to pay bill for the number which i have already surrender to your store.
                  Do needful to stop/cancel the aletrts as i am mentally harrased and will do some serious legal action against airtel as i am being asked for the bill which already airtel has taken and closed in sep 2015.

                    I am Sakthi Nivas and using the Airtel number [protected] for last 5 years. Also this number was in active state in last 3 months before it got disconnected on Jan 1st week 2016. Also I have done recharge for this number recently before it got disconnected. Instead of these factors it got disconnected. I need this number back.
                    Without providing any intimation to me, they have deactivated the sim. You are troubling us by calling for unwanted Ads why cant to you just intimate me before deactivating it. I am using this number for all my bank transactions, I cant immediately change it. I have to blame AIRTEL if any suspecious action might carried over to my bank accounts. Please give back my number at any cost.

                      My internet connection is not working properly from past 20 days now. Prior to that the broadband speeds kept going down.
                      I had logged a complaint on 4th Feb regarding the speed subsequent complaints regarding broadband not working.
                      No one from Airtel has responded properly and no action has been taken to resolve the issue. I am tired of calling and complaining to the customer care number everyday, who always say the issue will be resolved, but no action is taken.
                      If you can not resolve issues in a timely manner, then please remove the connection. My airtel landline number is [protected]

                          Problem faced with Mobile no. [protected] during number portability & documents submission irritation.

                          I did portability from Vodafone to Airtel recently. I submitted my all documents as per store manager's requirement. He informed me that porting will be done within 7 days. But, it did not happen even after 15 days. He just kept me moving around but no proper answer. Finally after 20-22 days porting is done.

                          I have submitted all my documents (Passport copy, PAN Card & Passport size photo) to him at very first. But after porting I lost signal in the SIM. I was wondering why? When I inquired they said your SIM number is not matching. This happened after my inquiry, but they did not contact me on mu alternate contact number. Such a big harassment to a customer.

                          When I submitted my documents for 2nd time, they did not activate my number but took 3 days. But I was assured by store manager that it will be activated with in 2-3 hours. But it did not. Third time when I visited the store, again Airtel took all my documents. Don't understand why do Airtel need my documents for 3-3 times?? Then number was activated after so much irritation given to me.

                          After few days, again I got SMS that your SIM will be barred if you don't submit your documents. I was totally wondering that I submitted my documents for 3-3 times & how they can ask me for documents?? A big irritation. Still I visited Airtel store and submitted my documents for 4th time to keep my service running. But even after documents submission on 3rd day my SIM card has got barred. (No incoming + No outgoing)

                          I am working in a responsible position in a MNC where I can't keep my cell off because I received alot important calls. I am stuck in a big problem due to stupidity of Airtel now. I even did not get any proper response & resolution on email communication.


                          Government is for public, after this incident happened to me. I hereby request TRAI & government to take a very strict action against Airtel for this matter.

                          How they can do this with their customer? This is such a big irritation for me. I believe Airtel should take their customers seriously. I should get compensation for the problems I have faced which has resulted in huge loss to me.

                          For 5th time I submitted the documents at Airtel Store on last Saturday (20-Feb-2015) as per below address.

                          Airtel, Ground Flr, Shop No. 1&2, Madhu Milan Co-Operative Housing Society, S V Road, Borivali West, Mumbai - 400092, Near Railway Station.

                          Till the time SIM is not activated. Infact, there is zero response from the Store Manager.

                              Hi i have been calling in airtel customer care number jaipur since 12-2-16 for getting my remaining 500mb of netcard. They are saying me to wait for 72hours as i had waited for 72hours till now I had not got my remaining 500mb and as i'm calling again and again at the customer care number jaipur they're not responding to my complain.. I want my remaining 500mb within 24hours. Take a strict action towards them. Poor airtel service..

                                Dear Concerned
                                We have 5 cug connections in our company name even after making payments of bills, they have disconnected the out going facility.
                                The executive at their showroom in Hyderabad opp High Court has made a mistake by crediting total amount only in 1 number and other 4 number they are showing as due.
                                After repeated calls and e mails also they did not correct it and though in 1 number there is still credit balance they are not making changes.

                                We have sent at least 7 mails and to their email id and any number of calls to their customer care number but nothing has been done...

                                Again we are being asked to pay the due amount of other numbers for reactivation of services and adjust the extra amount of 1 number in future bills...

                                Is this the way they work..

                                  Yes Airtel is stealing our money. Today something happened to me. I did not have an internet plan activated in my mobile phone but due to urgency I had to switch on mobile data to use internet. I was very careful for the data that I use. So first, I used like 1.4MB and close to 1.5 Ruppees was charged. This seems ok. But then I had to send a reply in whatsapp. So i sent it switched on the mobile data and then as soon as my text was sent, I switched off mobile data. I might have used mobile data for like some 20 seconds. Then the data usage from Airtel showed I used 24MB and reduced my 24 ruppees. This is absurd! It said that I used 24MB of data in 20 seconds. That means more than 1MBps. I do not get 3G in my place. So how is this technically possible? This has happened to me before and I have ensured that there are no background auto-updates running in my Android phone.

                                  I called Cust. care and they said that I have used like 6000MB ( wierd like hell). They said that money does not go based on that 24MB but is related to the 6000MB and later said that it was my total usage. Then I asked why this much money did not go the first time I used (1.4MB). Then they said, that was based on the rate 10p/10KB. I still cannot believe that 24MB usage in just a few seconds. I still want a technical explanation. Planning to call them again
                                  yes, Airtel has become so complacent because there is no real competition. No one except BSNL that provides landline, broadband and cellular. (and no one one who provides these three plus dish tv). Have you tried to get a bsnl broadband connection? I went to the website and became a lead, no one called, it's been more than a year. I'll apply again now, let see how that shapes up.
                                  I recently shifted from a 1449 plan 8mbps 15gb plan paid 6 months in advance to 1599 8mbps 100gb plan, and to my surprise I received a regular bill. I called in only to discover that I somehow gave away 7k of my previous plan to shift to this one and the gentlemen who help metransition didn't as much as utter anything about me looking 7k, not that it makes any sense but still.
                                  I've cancelled my broadband and landline with Airtel. I will not work with a thug company. I'll be cancelling my cellular and dish tv connections as well soon
                                  Yes, it is. Its customer care is full of illiterate lazy a***. I feel they can easily do a cost cutting by removing off all customer care executives, since they do nothing other than irritating customer, making them run after them for any request and ultimately not solving it. So, why have them in first place ?
                                  I have repeatedly complained to airtel about consuming money from voice calling balances at exorbitant prices for data when data packs run out. An ethical business would provide for a way to disable data consumption once packs run out. Airtel seems to have made it a deliberate business practice to surreptitiously overcharge consumers for data services.
                                  Yes Airtel steals all yo money. I was browsing the net for about 2 hours in opera mini and then I got warning message that my data balance was low. I had over 500 mb. They had deducted over 400mb within 2 hours when the actual usage was about 15mb..

                                  General lifecycle of an Airtel customer-
                                  1. Experience worst service at highest prices.
                                  2. Try to contact Customer Care.
                                  3. If you are lucky enough to get to one Customer Care Representative, tell him/her your problem.
                                  4. Get a complain registered for the way Airtel cheated you, and they will say your complain will be processed by 2-3 days or something.
                                  5. Wait for 2-3 days (or whatever time they told in their false promise).
                                  6. A customer care representative will call you, and ask you what your complain was.
                                  (This is when they should be asking you whether your complain got resolved. Anyways, I mentioned before, "false promise")
                                  7. Then you tell them the complain all over again and get another false promise.
                                  8. Go to step 4.
                                  PS-
                                  After going repeatedly through step 7, you can get irritated and opt for Porting.
                                  Again a great person will call you and ask you why you are leaving Airtel.
                                  Again you go through step 7, and that great person will ask you to go to step 2.
                                  And that my friends, is Airtel.
                                  A service provider which offers "Fastest Internet Challenge", but whose 3G network Internet Speed is worse than 2G network Internet Speeds of other leading service providers.


                                  In short.. Of course Airtel is stealing people's money and using it to lure more victims into losing their money.

But guess what... No signal to activate. How awesome the network is.. I was morally down because all my payment and organizational documents are pending and I'm paying dues for that..                                       I have subscribed to Airtel Digtial TV HD package whose total monthly rental is 622. First they increased my monthly rental from Rs 608 to Rs 622. I did not complained. But now in between my package without notifying, they have disabled all HD channels. The message that is appearing is 'This channel is not a part of your package' for every HD channel. I cannot reach to their either South or North Customer Care Number. First, phone was getting disconnected. Once it was connected but the agent without listening to me told me "Thanks for calling Airtel Digital TV". How can they this to me? They will charge for each and every second and in terms of services, consumer is always at loss.
