My wife has been using the Airtel number [protected] for the last 3 years (since 2011 Feb) and her SIM had some issue a couple of days back. When we went to the Airtel Jayanagar office to get a duplicate SIM card, we received information that the records do not show my wife's name but per Airtel records, the connection belongs to someone else! Due to this, they will not provide a duplicate SIM. The office does not acknowledge a mistake on Airtel's side.
We had submitted the documents when we took the connection. So either Airtel does not care about the customer's identity information when providing the connection or it does not maintain the correct information in their records. Both of which are scary. The customer will get to know about such inappropriate handling of their identity information only when they run into issues. What is the guarantee that Airtel would not even misuse the information? Given the current circumstances, this looks quite possible.
I do not know how I can get my wife's number corrected and where the data we had submitted is being used!
Please acknowledge this serious concern!
Thanks,
