In year 2011 around June, a sales girl from Airtel entered home for the promotion of the post paid plan. As per the plan, i had paid the advanced payment of Rs.999/- and i got the number airtel Number : [protected] Account Number : [protected]. Though i paid the advance bill , i was getting the bill every month. Then called up the customer care, they said as you have already paid no need to pay again.
I had hardly used the card and i was sure that i will no longer use it so i had asked the sales girl if i could cancel that card. She said when you won't pay advance payment for next year, your connection will no longer active. Whatever bill was charged is advance for one year. The year 2011 passed and in year 2012 July, i received new bill with the 999. I had asked them to cancel the card then also they were sending me the billls.
One fine day they call up and threaten to pay bill and one day they send a legal notice. On 11th April 2013 , i had received a call from [protected] and the person said he is Mr.Ramesh Gupta, Advocate from Delhi High court and a case will be filed against me for non payment of the bill.
So to avoid any problem, i paid the amount.
Here i wish to lodge a complaint against Airtel, because their sales people overcommit and the customer has to suffer. I was not in need of the card but i due to the sales call at home , i had purchased the card. Then also the wrong commitments made me suffer.
I would like to know , can't be the card cancelled through customer care?
If the sales is through the direct way , it should also have direct cancellation from phone.
Why i am penalised for the carelessness of the company
