I was browsing through the internet and decided to check on the offers with airtel as i am currently using a 649 rs pack and under this pack, it has an option for wynk and airtel tv, including handset protection.
I downloaded the wynk music app and along with that, i got airtel tv app, when i clicked on the link with the sms message. These apps comes under my subscription pack of 649, as per their website, which doesn't mention anything about any subscription charges or whether its free.
I felt suspicious for some reason and decided to call the airtel customer care on 121, but the agent identified as arvind with the most poor listening skills referred me to hotstar app and kept me confused and wondering, whether he is working for airtel or hotstar.
Later as i felt his incompetence, i spoke to a floor supervisor, named prateek who again was misleading and doing his best to make me repeat numerous times to my simple query which was 'whether i get any sort of charges for using wynk or airtel tv app, which comes under the 649 plan?
After a long wait and answers based on assumptions, without checking about what comes under my subscription and poor customer service, even by mr. Prateek, who identified as floor supervisor who showed his unprofessionalism, i finally spoke to a floor manager identified as nirmala, who said the wynk app is free of charge and doesn't involve any charges, so i began downloading music using my other wifi service provider without using airtel mobile internet.
Now this app wynk music had many ads, so i clicked on an ad to close it and it showed charges of 49 extra to rid the ads. I thought, why waste 49 for some silly ads and let them be.
Later, after downloading some songs using the wynk, i tried to transfer the song to my music folder, but it doesn't due to copyright and protection content, even that was fine, until when i explored the app options and a page called 'subscription' came up to my utter disbelief, i was shocked to see that the app only had validity just for a month till 12th january 2018 or 30days from 12th december 2017 and after it charges the customer 199 or 49, whatsoever, which was totally misleading upon what it says on the airtel website, where as per the 649 plan, it comes under and nowhere mentions of any charges. Even the manager ms nirmala confirmed the same, that there are no charges, but when did this subscription charges pop up on the subscription page, which clearly pointed out that the app is only free for a month till 12th january 2018?
Infact the app is free for a month, doesn't need to have an airtel subscription. I wasted around 500mb downloading something, which at the bitter end became waste, through my other internet service provider. I could have gone for other free sources, where the same music was available for free over the internet.
Ain't this daylight robbery? I have recorded call to prove my claims and the source from the airtel website, which shows that these apps wynk and airtel tv comes under the 649 and doesn't mention anything about subscription charges for these apps. Even when you click on any links pertaining to these apps, it just brings up the subscription packs.
Airtel may refer to the call dated 12/12/2017 id [protected] given by airtel floor supervisor 'prateek' or whoever.
I am sharing this for airtel to rectify this from consumers falling victims to subscription charges, which is not mentioned under the package list where these apps are coming under. Please update the accurate information next to the postpaid plans where wynk and airtel tv app is mentioned, along with terms and conditions, including for the handset protection.
Let the consumers know what all are covered and what all are not under their plans, let there be transparency. If someone has a phone and it gets broken, but he has handset protection, let them know what all are covered and any other extra charges, which are hidden from consumers, which is not mentioned anywhere on airtel website.

I don't know which part of India you live but Airtel network in Pune is very bad. They have a technical problem which they simply do not admit.
