Hi.
I have been subject to extreme misbehaviour by canara bank gariahat branch manager today june 21, 2018.
Earlier in the day, i had visited the bank with my father to transfer my account from their n. S. Road branch to their gariahat branch which is closer to my house. There were two procedures which had to be carried out for this,
1. Transferring the account
2. Opening a new account with the new bank.
The first process was handled by the branch manager himself and was done very quickly and diligently and i quite appreciate the effort he put into it.
When i went to open the new account with another manager, she completely ignored me. And this happened three times.
During that time my father was sitting in the branch managers cabin where he was being explained about some policy. I went to him (My father) and mentioned that i have been following the lady to open the bank account and she is not even replying to me, and i felt it was too rude. The bank manager sitting in front happened to hear it and became furious about it and almost lost his temper at me and started humiliating me and talking to me in a very abusive manner in front of few of his employees. I believe this is not a way to behave with a woman and mostly a customer of the bank.
As the manager told us, apparently, the lady was worried about some air conditioning problem and hence she was not attending to me and running away without even answering or excusing herself from me, and since they did the transfer of my account from one bank to another asap, i should not complain about their customer service behaviour, because they did their job right.
Just because you did one job right does not mean you can abuse your customers. My complaint, which was not even a complaint and just a talk between myself and my father were not about them transferring my account from one bank to another, i have already appreciated that both in this mail and in front of the bank manager several times. My complaint was about the bank staff not being able to handle their clients respectfully and this was blown out of proportion by the bank manager is the most abusive way. She could have at least excused herself to me and it would be ok, even then i was fine with it as it was a trivial issue, though personally i feel responding to a client or excusing yourself if there is an urgent problem is a right way to behave. Its client and human courtesy.
The bank manager continuously kept bringing this topic up until he started to talk in a high tone which later grew to screaming at me in an abusive way about why i complained about this lady when she was busy fixing the air conditioning and when they had already transferred my account so smoothly i do not have any right to say that there is any lack of customer handling.
I repeatedly told him i appreciate his work but this i felt was rude and i brought it up with my father and not even you, and a customer has every right to bring a point up if they things it was not right. He went on harping on it, screaming and misbehaving. Being a woman visiting this bank with my 73 years old father, i was too scared by his behaviour. I and my father literally started to tremble because of his misdemeanour and did not know what to do then than to leave the premises as his fury was just too much to handle.
I do not think he is suitable to be a bank manager if this is how he treats his customers. He has literally harassed a woman by his words and a senior citizen today, which i'm sure is against a lot of laws in india, and it is quite disheartening to see a man like this to occupy such a chair.
I have a lot of my and my families money stuck in this bank and we are very scared to go back because we do not know how he might treat us next.
I would earnestly request someone to help us out with this problem, and help us take all our savings out of this bank and transfer it to our other bank where we at least feel safer physically.
I really hope it can be dealt with in the best fashion, and someone would help us to get all out money out of this bank as soon as possible because we cannot think of being able to maintain any future relationship with canara bank.
I am really looking for some help.
