[Resolved]  Lenovo Y410 Laptop — faulty CD Drive

I bought a lenovo laptop but facing problem with the optical drive from the fourth month, most of the people i have met who have lenovo y410 are facing the same problem .I have written many mails to lenovo but no reply they are dumb people they even do not reply your mail.

As you can go through the attached mails...
but I will explain you the issue in detail.

I purchased a Lenovo 410 Y having serial no-EBO6752310
In not more than 6 months my optical drive got down as it was not reading Normal CD's .I got it replaced from the new Delhi service centre

Case Id-[protected]

It again got down in 2 months and i again registered a complaint against case id-L8BH00M3.

The service center replaced it and it even did'nt survived 1 day and was again replaced at my residence .

Now again in 15 days I am again facing the same problem.
I have again registered a case Id with the service center- L8C10091

My warranty is ending on 28th December and i am thinking what will happen once warranty is over.

Because I cant invest more on the optical drive now...

Kindly calculate the cost i will incure if this the trend with the optical drive .

One more issue I have with your Service Center is that the guys who are giving service there are even not technical sound they even do not know the meaning of Why " Dolby digital " is written on the laptop.

Now what I demand Is the warranty extension without any cost for my optical drive.Or kindly tell how will you manage the warranty after 28th December because if you are replacing it today .

And for your kind attention please get details from the service centers that how many Optical drive's do you replace every month .

kindly do the needfull.

Thanks for you Positive Reply But, problems have not ended for me . I visited your service centre in Nehru place, New Delhi. and was shocked to listen the answer of you service guys. "That if you will use CD on the optical drive it will again go down ".

If this is the answer I am so sorry give me this in writing or please give me the escalation matrix for grievances.Now I am not concern about the optical drive but I will follow up with you on this issue.

I am facing the same problem with my lenevo y410 series laptop. I am not going to buy any lenevo products from now on and would not recommend it to anyone if they are providing such substandard quality combodrives.
im having the same issue with my DVD ROM too, Lenovo Y410 is good but dvd drive suck. i hope they can do something about this.
I had a problem with the optical drive of my Lenovo Y410 too. It wouldn't eject the disks that I put in it. There was a problem with a spring or something. the disk would eject after some lengthy fiddling. The problem lasted for a month. I don't know what happened but then it's okay now.

I was facing some problem with my LCD and i got below reply from lenovo service center .
I am using this laptop from past 11 months and suddenly facing such issue.Their is no pressure has been given on the Top Cover or anywhere else in laplop as that can be proof by not getting any damages outside the body

I am not going to pay at any cost as my laptop is under warranty and used by me nicely
without giving any kind of pressure or damages.if something happen internally i am not responsible for it.

it would be appreciating if any fast action has been taken on the above issue.

dear sir mam,
i have bought the Y 410 laptop from e zone on 23 july 2009 and even before one week iam starting facing the problem in this laptop the model is 775788Q. allthough this model has been stop iam iam facing the problem in the optical drive, some sought of cranking noise is coming from the optical drive whan i start my leptop.i meen at time of switching on the laptop some cranking sound is coming. is it a normal? and if it is normal why is that so?

Hi i have Lenovo 3000 Y500 Series laptop which i bought 2 years ago. When i insert any CD into it shows blank & is not recognizing CD-R but reads original CD & DVD. This problem started few months back. I don't know what to do . Please help.

don't you think this is a manufacturing (company) fault.

when this optical drive problem will be solved.i have replaced optical drive about 5-6 times and again i have locked a complain for optical drive. please take any action.

My lenova y410 model 7757 is having a perrinial problem with cd drive. It reads orignal cd but never reads the data cd or written cd. Pl give us the replacement since this is a global problem with this model and is a manufaturing defect.
