[Resolved]  Standard Chartered Bank Credit Card — TATA AIG Policy

Standard Chartered Bank official fraudulently sold me policies that supposedly protect me from Credit Card Loss/Wallet Protection etc. I am told that particular officer was fired because of complaints from other customers about misrepresentations too. However, in spite of repeated attempts from Aug 29, 2008 onwards, I am unable to get the policies canceled and stop the recurring charges. TATA AIG says that Standard Chartered Bank sold the policies so they have to initiate the cancellation. On six different occasions different bank officers have taken my request and have promised to forward the request to the concerned department. However, I can't get connected to the 'concerned department' or get the policies along with the associated EMI's canceled.

Standard Chartered Bank — Issue of AIG policy

I, G S Srinivasan and my wife D Santhirani have a joint savings account with SCB with Haddows Road branch.

Month back, we had received calls from the telephone bankers for the TATA AIG Insurance policy and for all the calls that was received, we had not accepted the policy. To the surprise, we had received the hard copy of the policy without any confirmation and sum of Rs 1192 + 1084 has been debited from my account. The TATA AIG policy number it states is [protected]-688.

I'm really surprised as how SCB could act in such a way, debiting Rs 1192 and sending the policy without any confirmation.

When i called to cancel, they took the complaint and waited for the one month time to get over and calling me back saying that we would refund only 50% of the policy charge and nothing can be done now. Had sent couple of mails to the head service at standard charted bank, but no reply and nothing has been done and i have lost Rs 1400.

I am grateful see your complaints on the web. I am having a difficult time even to get a complaint recorded with Tata AIG who have not responded. Stan chart on their part have responded with their standard legally drafted non commital reply but have not supplied me the information regarding the name of the policy and the correct email I D of tata AIG where my complaint of lost wallet can be lodged.

Now after going through your complaints I suspect they have lured me into buying this policy which is not really protecting the customer. The amounts debitted on my credit cards appear not convincing with every month some interest is added which is not clear . even the premium amount appears hazy and not clear. Pl guide me if you can from your experience as to how I should deal with this since I am stranded in U.S.A with the lost wallet on the day I arrived on 14th of aug 09. I sent a mail to Tata AIG general insurence to the complaint section as per the ID i saw on the net. DEspite reminders they have not replied. Now i have requested Standaard Chartered Bank to help me with the information and they have replied with the computer generated standard reply saying they will revert shortly. This is a evasive reply but I am helpless. Pl guide me

JUSWT TO KEEP YOU POSTED CC NO.[protected] 04/10 HOLDING TITANIUM CARD USING THE STDCTHD BANK FOR MORE THAN 4 YEARS,LAST YEAR A TELEEXECUTIVE CALLED ME AND ASKED IF I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE TATA INSURANCE FOR THE SAME AMOUNT WHAT I PAY AS ANNUAL FEE(EG.WOULD YOU LIKE CAKE INTHE PRICE OF COFFEE WHICH I AM ALREADY PAYING )I GUESS ALL WOULD AGREE.
EVERSINCE I HAVE BEEN PAYING THE INSURANCE MONEY EVEN AFTER CANCELLING THE POLICY AS I WAS TOLD YOU WILL HAVE TO PAY AS THEY DO NOT REIMBURSE THE POLICY MONEY.DESPITE BEING A REGULAR CUSTOMER FOR A LONG PERIOD WITH NO NON/LATE PAYMENT TILL JAST MONTH .HAVE SPOKEN TO EVERY TOM,DICK &HARRY INTHE COMPANY BUT I STILL HAVE TO PAY FOR THE CANCELLED INSURANCE .WAS TOLD IT WOULD BE REIMBURSED BUT TILL DATE I AM PAYING.BUT FURTHER DO NOT WISH TO PAY FOR THE FACILITY NOT UTILISED.
WOULD REQUEST SOME OFFICIAL TO REVERT BACK TO ME ASAP
