Sir/Madam

This is to inform you that I had used standard chartered credit card for some 3 months and stopped using it in the month of Oct, 2008. In my last statement some 500 Rs. late charges were levied by bank which was not justified as I had made the payment in time. After talking to their credit card department I had made the balance payment by deducting these late charges and after that stopped using the card.

After that bank never called me or sent any statement but today (9/04/2009) I have received the call from standard chartered bank saying that Rs. 3000 is pending in my name against the credit card statement, When I asked the statement or the proof that they had sent me the statement, the person refused by saying that he is not handling the courier company and threatened me that they will update my name in CIBIL and in future no bank will give me any kind of loan. This is an evident case of harassment by bank.

Request you to kindly take a suitable action at the earliest.

Hi,

I am facing the problem from standard chartered credit card.They are charging lots of interest and overlimit charges and late payment fees.They didnt inform me also.I could not pay that much amount what they are charging like that.Please advise me on this.

    This is with regard to compalint dated 21st February against Standard chartered bank for personal loan. I am furnishing the needed documents and details

    Loan Acccount number: 47613076
    Bank: Standard Chartered
    Complaint: Tampering the Loan document and not meeting terms of agreement
    Dispute areas : Interest agreed was 14% with last month waiver off. As per document 60 months was the term. Now the term is changed to 48 months without my signature

    Details: They have taken counter signature from me sighting Internal credit process. After which they have changed the terms and conditions without my approval. The terms were not what they promised. The complaint was made within 2 days after I received money. It was unsolved till now. They did not even respond for while I had to compalin again and again and finally in October they agreed to last month ENI waiver off and months of payment They agreeing to last month waiver off is indication of cheating. Also againt the change in term period they forgot to take my signature . have complained to RBI ombdusman for legal action-www.bankingombudsman.rbi.org.in

      Dear Sir / Madam,

      This is regarding my Credit Card dispute. I am using credit card of Standard Chartered Bank since November 2008. I found two fraud transactions in January 2009 for which I reported to bank customer care on 23 Jan 2009, details are as follows :

      Transaction Details -
      23/01/2009 REP# 903803 BOOKMYSHOW INR 930.00DR INR 930.00
      20/01/2009 REP# 903802 BOOKMYSHOW INR 930.00DR INR 930.00
      "Discussion with Susheel at 23:19 - Card blocked for further transactions on 23 Jan 2009, Dispute will be cleared within 45 Days. If I am found guilty they will show me proofs regarding that transaction and I will have to pay the same, but if not then amount will be reverted to me."

      According to Bank this dispute was solved as the customer care representative confirmed me over phone. I also got the disputed amount back as well as another credit card was also issued to me.

      Now, nearby one month later while I was checking my statement I found that the same amount is again been added in my credit card. So I again called up customer care and they said that I am liable to pay that amount and they have not even sent me any type of proofs via post or mail showing me guilty.

      The fraud transactions refer to movie ticket bookings and if tickets are booked online then their collection from theaters cannot be done without showing the same credit card.

      Please help me to resolve this issue as soon as possible.

      First thing is that file a complaint to RBI as soon as possible.

      If you will not settle these bills they will keep on adding late payment and intrest.Try to get it cleared
      any how(try pursuing the customer care) and have a written proof; and never user standard charted services.This bank is a big fraud as you might have realised.

        Hi friends, my name is lawrence i would like to inform all consumers not to use the standard charted bank -cc, since bank provided lot of false commitments and hiden charges, they dont have proper service division to solve the consumer queris, i have been really screewed by those people and finally cancelled my card account, they tried to retain me but i said NO...

        I was an scb customer for more than 5years and had lot of bad experience with scb, so i kindily request every one not to use scb cc in your life, i[censored] hold a scb cc plz cancell it immediately...i dont want others to get in trouble like me...

          Dear All,

          I like to complain how Standard Charted Bank (SCB) is robbing poor man's money,

          every billing cycle I drop my cheque in time in the bank advised drop box near my place last month also I followed the routine, but this time even after the bill date the cheque was not cashed, i called the call center and the lady advised me it is happening nowadays a lot with the customer as they outsourced the collection of the cheque to a 3rd party.

          I waited for couple of more days and followed up after few days, this time they said they are unable to track the cheque and asked me to stop the cheque and issue a new cheque. next day the bill came to home to pay all the late charges + interest + service tax . i contacted again to the help desk and spoken to the supervisor and this time he is able to track my cheque and was saying that they received my cheque only on 10-12 th march which is very incorrect as I personally drop the cheque on 28th Feb morning in the drop box,

          the supervisor said he will waive my entire charges provided I send him ECS, i explained to him that my bank is Chennai and I’m at Hyderabad, he said I can get authorization from any branch. I did the same and was waiting.

          After 3-4 days there was no response from them, i had contacted again the supervisor there, he said my ECS was rejected because ICICI bank rejected it as the authorization branch is different. Now he says that he will revert back my interest but I need to pay the late charges.

          If you are so confident that the chqeue they received after the due date, how come you easily reverting the interest charges. I’m confident that this is scheme from the bank to make money by deliberately holding the cheques. when the costumer raise this issue they are producing the cheques and charging the interest and late charges to them.

          i like to bring in your notice please stop this unethical way of making money, I already cleared my genuine outstanding amount and request to revert all my late and interest charges.

          As per credit history with this bank for almost 4-5 years I paid all my bills regularly.

          i like to bring in your notice please stop this unethical way of making money,

          What ever is being said I have also faced the same issue.They promised me to revert the late payment and intyrest as they could not deliver the bill at the right time and place.After receiving the payment they again starting asking latepayment and intrest.They will not listen to any thing with extremem justification.

          Perhaps they are the descendedts of East India company which robbed the whole country for centuries.
          And now these looters are here.The saddest part is that our system is suits them very well for such practises.Consumer remains helpless.

          I will suggest you to comlain with RBI after giving the bank one month notice to short everyting.

            I have deposited a cheque of Rs. 1500/- Drawn on Bank of India, Goa on 17th March 2009 into my Standard Chartered Account.
            They are saying that as it is a outstation cheque it will take 25 working days for clearing.
            1months time, isn't is tooooo long. I am really disappointed with this kind of service.

              Your bank was send my card by Blue Dart (03-mar-2009) dokect no was [protected]. But I did not get till date. I have already tolked your CCE .H e told me that yousend mail to STC bank card dept & collect your card no then I find out what is exect position.

                Dear Sir/Madam,

                This is to inform you that, I got a call from Mr.Dibyendu Majumder, an employee of Standard Chartered Finance Ltd, on Monday. He informed me the details of Royal Sundaram Health Insurance Policy over Telephone. He told me his name is Mr.Dibyendu Majumder. After briefing me the product details he forced me to take this policy. When I told him that, is it compulsory that, I am to take this policy?
                He asked me 'why'? I told him that, I want to consult with my parents. Then Mr.Dibyendu Majumder got angry and used the slang words. I told him that I am going to submit a plaint against you. Then he replied that, you can do any thing I don't care. I asked him the name of his manager and he told me that, his manager's name is Dimpy Jhunjhunwalla.

                I request you to take immediate action against that person. He should be sacked immediately or I will go to the higher level of your organisation.

                  Dear Sir/Madam

                  I have received a letter from Provident fund organisation regarding my settlement of Provident fund accumulation where my Provident fund A/C no. is MH/47242/12301 where in the letter it is mentioned that there are two cheques ( Cheque No. 150455 Dated- 31/12/2008 Amount- 2478 and Cheque No. 180290 Dated 3/12/2008 Amount- 918) drawn on State Bank Of India, Mumbai Main Branch towards my settlement of provident fund Account which would get credited into my Savings bank Account No- [protected] in Standard Chareterd bank at 19 N.S. road, kolkata-700001 branch.
                  But its the only intimation letter which is given to me as there are no cheques alongwith the letter and neither the Provident Fund amount has got credited into my Savings Account.
                  So if any kind of help could be provided as the phone number mentioned in the letter #[protected] is not answered only.
                  looking forward for your support towards the crediting of Provident fund Amount in Mamta Damani account.

                    Dear sir..

                    This is with regard to the credit card No.[protected] from the standard chartered bank which i lost in one the incident.immediately i called up the consumer card of the bank and asked to block the card.But then the card was used and an amount of Rs.32, 000/- was transacted and for no fault of mine and the mistake in delaying the blockage of the credit card resulted this event and for no fault of mine i have been getting tratening call from the bank goons.
                    i have explained them about this and since i am deep financial trouble i am not in a position to ow this burden.

                    Recently i have got a legal notice for the same from the bank.

                    Please let me know how do i come out of this difficult situation.

                      Dear Sir,

                      In Month of January 2009, I had made total payments towards my Standard Chartered Bank Credit Card.
                      After this I requested them to re start my card, they refused to do so. I had balance points available for redemption which they refused to pass the benefit.

                      They are sending Statement every month, even after canceling the Card & harrasing me on the phone.
                      Request your kind office to take this matter.

                      Pls find the summary of the details for your reference. After receipt of payment this Lady nevert turn up to confirm the correspondence & they started sending the statement again

Mr.Prabir Ghosh has already received the card in the month of December 2008 where as, I, Mr.Subir Ghosh did not received thecard till now.Though I had repeatedly spoken to Mr.Ganesh at your branch to do the needful but still I did not get any response.

                        Hi,

                        I had a standard chartered credit card, as i lost my job. I thought to get the dues settled due to the pressure
                        from the recovery agents. and the recovery agent gave me a settlement letter as well. by saying that you have to give the cheque for all EMI. And when i informed the cheque which i have issued from the account is a salary account. and there would be no salary credit on that account. The agent from the bank said that the bank would send agent to collect EMI every month and would return the cheque to you. Going by his words..i gave all the cheques no one came with cheques..i gave EMI on time. when asked what happened to cheques. they would have no answer to it.

                        Then i stopped giving money, because all my cheques were getting bounced. and i told them if they return the all the cheques then only i would be making payments. And they have been miscommunicating all this while.

                        Now the bank says i have to give 28, 000 as it is my outstanding balance.
                        However i was only left with 6000 more to pay to complete the settlement.

                        Is it my fault that i asked for the cheques which was taken from me by misguiding.

                        Does a consumer have right to ask what is happening on the account.

                        NOBODY FROM THE BANK IS CLEAR WHAT IS HAPPENING ON THE ACCOUNT AND WHAT WAS THE AMOUNT LEFT ON THE SETTLEMENT. ALL OF THEM WOULD SAY YOUR ACCOUNT IS IN THIS
                        BUCKET OR THAT BUCKET. YOU HAVE TO MAKE THIS PAYMENT.. y should i make the payments.

                        Now that all the cheques have been bounced i want the bank to consider the fact and settle my account with the amount left. and want it in written that i would not be charged with any act.

                          My PF no is MH/47242/4018. I applied for my PF on October ' 2008. I checked in epfindia website which showed me that the form was recd on 9/02/2009 and asked to check after 30 days of submission. Till now ( 16/04/2009 ) it shows the same. I don't understand when this 30 days will be completed. When i contacted the Bandra office, i was given no proper answer. We have huge commitment depending on this. What to do ...

                            Hi All,

                            Never deal with this bank. At time of opening account they will talk very sweet but when it comes to customer service they will keep you transferring your calls from one department to other . when u ask for senior person they say they are not available and will arrange a call which never gets done. later one the call will be disconnected I think their AVP or CEO is also same category and not bothered to take care of their clients . Dont know what are they doing sitting at their TOP levels. they are the one who provide such kind of training to their executives and thats why this is happeneing . few names i had conversation with are jatin.gilroy, Jagruti Dhupkar, Chitra Vaidya (senior person) who herself never called for finding out the problem. This is how this bank works.
                            So friends i[censored] have accounts with this bank Dont deal further to avoid future Problems. ONly they need money. DOnt know when this bank will swipe off.

                            This is a bank, they never informed me or my family members about the outstanding. After 2 years when I am settled outside India, I receive an email to pay 45K INR.

                            When asked for the statement, the employees are least bothred to send one, and I am chasing it up with the bank. Also, they are charging interest and other fees. Its a high time for consumers to boycot such a rip off bank.

                            If they can't do ethical business, then why can't this bank drop the balls by selling their bank to a decent organisation.

                            So true. They charged me for a loan against credit card which i never availed. They sent me a PO which i returned at there branch. They said that they did not receive the PO but only the cancellation letter that was attached with the cheque. They kept charging me without my knowledge after 1 year some SR called and offered to settle things for Rs 1000/-. I asked for the statement but theyt never responded. They reffered me to CIBIL and screwed my credit score. Now its there turn. i have taken the case again with there card service head.
                            We should all get together and file a complaint.

                              I has words with your executives named jatin, Gilroy, Jagruti Dhupkar, Chitra vaidya who were supposed to give me feedback and nobody reverted back neither they are transfering my call to senior person. they just keep me on hold and then later on disconnected my calls. I spoke with all your executives and i was informed over the phone it will be done in 3 working days. i have also sent email on 27th feb 2009 . Nobody responded from your end . If any interest is charged to my credit card for delay in Payment i am not reponsible for that since its delayed from your end and i am following up for the linkage from day One my Account is opened. If you want i have all written communication mails that i have send, all voice recorded messages that i had with all your executives which can prove who is wrong . Now u saying it will take 15 days ? ok i will make the payment for my credit card only after 15 days once my card is linked that too whatever i have used . i wont pay any interest & no delay charges.
                              Just sending out this mail to keep you in loop about my conversation & discrepancies i am facing for getting my credit card linked to my Savings Account.

                              I am also facing similar problems. Standard chartered bank looks like earned a reputation for not providing services. You keep calling call centres, writing e-mails to customer care, visiting the branch, talking to servic manager and writing mails but they do not respond.
                              Why there is no one there to takes theses issue?

                                sir,

                                i m deepak gupta & my probleme criedit card related. i m droping my criedit card payment before due date but bank credit my account on my statment date and they charged late fee+interest charges. last time i have called customer care but they told me we are not reverse ur charges pls pay immedetly otherwise we suspend ur card. pls give me sugggestion what can i do.

                                  On January 10, 2009, Rs. 1, 265 was debited from my account. I saw it first through net banking.The details was showing that I have purchased something from M/s. Gouri Shankar Textiles by swaping my debit card. But I haven't purchased anything from anywhere & the card was with me only. I placed a complaint on their customer care as well as at the main branch at Kolkata. The customer care informed me about three different dates of that transaction on three different mails. In the first mail they claimed that the purchase date was 2nd January but the money debited on 10th of January. In the second mail they claimed that the date was 8th January. Last of all yesterday i.e. on 27th February they sent me a photocopy of the slip which is signed by me. In that document the transaction date is showing as 2 October 2007. The copy of that document is attached herewith.

                                    I have done my full cradit card payment according to standard charterd bank. For the last Statement Balance that was in 2004 I had send the cheque(for full balance) to Standard Chartered Bank.

                                    Now this week I found that they have put my name in CBIL for defaulter list. And when I am trying to get hold of Account executive for the card details. They are not providing the details.

                                    Please help me to take out my name from CBIL.

                                    Suggestion - Bank should get the proper Training about CBIL. When and how they should put the name in CBIL. Otherwise how can people understand the benefits of CIBIL?

                                      I was holding a credit card([protected] & [protected]) of Standard Chartered Bank
                                      till Aug'06.The card was offered to me free of Membership, Annual & Joining fees. However in 10.01.2005
                                      statement, they charged me Annual charge of Rs. 1200/-. On 20.01.2005, I spoke to their customer
                                      care office regarding the charges which i was not liable to pay. They assured & confirmed me the charges would be reversed and the same would reflect in the next statement. The reversal was not done and interest and Service Tax was charged also. On 14.02.2005 when I received next statement dt. 10.02.2005, again I spoke to their Customer care office for reversal which they again confirmed of reversing. However in the next statement it was not also done. Later they kept going on charging interest, Late fee and ST. On 10.01.06 they again charged Rs.1200 as annual charges. I have written 2 letters(20.06.2006 & Oct'06) to their Banglore office, However there is no feed back from their end till date on the same.

                                      In this statement you will find I have made all payments in time for use of credit card. Whatever purchases I had made on this card, all amounts was paid before the due date. Standard Chartered
                                      Bank for promotion have originally proposed that no membership/Annual fee will be charged, but have
                                      charged in the statement. You can see from the statement that Add-On card fee has been reversed but
                                      my annual fee has not been reversed though time to time they have promised to reverse. The arrears
                                      shown are false with accumulated late fee and interest thereon which is not payable by me. Such a big
                                      institution's behaviour is not appreciable at all and again putting my name in defaulters list for which
                                      I am not liable. The institution representative talks on the telephone and agrees to reverse but have
                                      failed to do so.

                                      My letters and request are not considered at all. So for no fault of mine why I should be penalised. For
                                      your verification I can show the original statements as referred and request you to consider the same.

                                      Please see the demand are shown on list are false and damage to my reputation is caused. I expect a justice from your end.

                                      In fact all private banks credit cards are doing somr thing or other of this sort.

                                      In fact the RBI Ombudsman should come out with exemplary puniushment to
                                      the Banks credit card copanies who adopt such arm twisting tactics for causing mental torture and anguish to the customers.

                                      There is also a need to ratioinalise minimum charges levied.

                                        I had a credit card from SCB (Photo Card) and this was stolen along with baggage containing my Passport and other documents in a hotel reception in Paris while I was on a Business trip. I had filed a complaint in Paris and have the copy of FIR. However before I could complaint to the bank the card was used to the remaining credit limit (About Rs.18, 000).
                                        On my return I had been to bank explaning the details and after lot of persuation I could get the transaction details and obviously the Signature were not matching. I took up the matter with bank again and personally went to the bank to settle the matter. Instead of hearing my argument the perosn told me that they would move the matter to Court. I said OK and came back.
                                        But to date I have not receievd any notice form te bank except the regular details on thecard and the amount has now gone up to about 66, 000.
                                        Mean while now I have been added in Defaulters list and this puts me in a lot of difficult situation by way explaining the banks for getting any loans sanctioned.
                                        Could someon esuggest how to go about and close the matter. Whom to approach and how?
