Hello,

This is to bring to your kind notice that my mother Mrs.TAPATI DASGUPTA BISWAS, was admitted at Fortis Hospital on 2nd October, 2020(Friday) under DR.PARTHA KARMAKAR, since she was passing blood from her stool and vomitting continuously. From that day onwards they had planned a gastroscopy but however later he cited reasons that the Gastroenterologist DR.DEBASHISH DATTA, who was treating mom had apparently deferred the procedure due to certain medical observations. However, that said, I've not been given a clear explanation of what caused the bleeding and the most annoying part was on the day of the discharge I hadn't even met the doctor nor did he feel the need to meet me and explain things to me one last time.
In this regard I intend to bring to light the following issues that I remain utterly dissatisfied with:
1.Some medicines that she had been taking(due to.other existing comorbidities) have been discontinued (Namely: NICORANDIL, CLINDIPINE, METOPROLOL, TORSEMIDE, PRAZOSIN).I'm sure there are reasons for that but what bothers me is that the reasons remain unexplained, cause I've not had any proper discussion with the consulting doctor regarding that.
2.Everytime we went to meet him ( DR.PARTHA KARMAKAR ), he either acted agitated and gave us a cursory explanation about the treatment, and that's about it. He had informed me on Friday (8/10/20) that he would observe her and let me know on Monday (12/10/20) about what is to be done. Instead, he informed me about the discharge, over the phone, on Monday (12/10/20); that too while I was traveling and thereafter I've not even met him. I happened to run into him while he was waiting near the lift and whatever little conversation we've had was near the lift. I'm not quite sure if that's the place alloted for discussions about patients at your hospital.
3.I've not once met the Gastroenterologist ( DR.DEBASHISH DATTA), treating mom and nobody even felt the need to summon me. I don't know if you expect me to leave all my work behind and run after doctors to get some time from them ?
4.My mother is on regular dialysis, and when she was admitted she had a weight of 40kg (post dialysis weight, since she had a dialysis that morning, Friday 2/10/20) and on Monday(12/10/20) her post dialysis weight at the hospital was 44.4kgs. I don't know what went wrong and there can be N number of issues I'm sure, but I really am eager to know that do I not deserve an explanation about everything that happened during her stay at the hospital?
5. The dialysis reports have not been shared with us and when I had previously checked the reports from the nurse I discovered that the pre and post dialysis weights on the 4th of October, 20 had not been mentioned. Can one of you kindly step up and explain the reason behind this?
6.I read in the Discharge Summary that Diabetic Retinopathy has been mentioned as one of the diagnosis, would one of you care to explain what actally has been done about that ? or has that just been mentioned to add snob value to the diagnosis?
7.Also, the nursing services provided were equally substandard and I had also complained about the same at the grievance cell but barely anything had been done about it. So I had to further call the nursing department to take care of the crisis I was in the midst of .

I'm so thoroughly disappointed with the experience I have had at your hospital and I urge you to kindly take due action against this kind of irresponsible behaviour else I'll have to escalate this to the higher authorities.
8.Last but most importatly, I had mentioned certain issues at the end of the discharge summary, among which I would like to reiterate the point where the doctor claimed under 'Course in the Hospital' that the family had refused the stay at the HDU against the Doctor's will. This is completely untrue since I don't remember any such instance where he had suggested anything even close to what has been stated.

Thank youRegards

    Address: Fortis Hospital Noida

Inspiring story of your brilliant doctor, Mukul Rastogi (Fortis Noida):

A 74-year-old person visited Mukul Rastogi at Fortis Noida and humbly requested this great doctor to do something to cure fluid retention problem in his body.

After seeing the patient, Mukul Rastogi said, “the patient needs to be admitted so that fluid can be drained out of his body”.

This world's best doctor admitted him to Liver Transplant ICU instead of a private ward to drain fluid from his stomach, to get a procedure called pleural tapping done and to do a thorough body checkup. At the time of hospitalization, patient's vital signs were pretty good (Platelet count 90k-110k, Hg – 11, BP – normal, Oxygen level – normal etc.).

On what basis Mukul Rastogi decided to take the patient to Liver Transplant ICU? Was he really that critical or a right candidate for the ICU or just to mint money?

At the time of admission, Mukul Rastogi said, “the patient is too old and survival chances would be less”.

Shouldn't this great doctor be kicked-out of the hospital for talking about survival chances on the basis of patient's age?

If Mukul Rastogi in not competent enough to handle old patients then he should have put a billboard with the following text “Old patients are not treated here”.

Once the patient was taken to the Liver Transplant ICU, Mukul Rastogi and his team did a procedure and drained fluid out of patient's abdomen. The patient started feeling a lot better the same day. Afterwards, the attendants were asked to meet Mukul Rastogi by the ICU staffs. The attendants stop by the doctor's office to get the details about the patient. The doctor said, “Patient's liver doesn't look bad, liver cirrhosis may be in the initial stage, his lymph nodes are about 1 mm in size as per the latest PAT CT scan and nodes should be at least 4 mm in size to declare Lymphoma...so he should be discharged in two days...we will shortly perform pleural tapping to drain fluid from his chest/lungs area before discharging him”.

Mukul Rastogi and his team performed the pleural tapping procedure that went terribly wrong. Actually, they ruptured his tissues while doing it and suddenly internal bleeding started happening because of that. That led to rapid fall in patient's health condition. Patient's blood pressure started falling, his Hg level drastically came done to 5, platelet count came down to 30k, his oxygen level went down..In a nutshell, the almost fully-recovered patient suddenly became a critical one because of that incident. Surprisingly, they performed the procedure without checking patient's blood group. Due to excess blood loss, they decided to give him 6 units of blood. The ICU staffs reached out to the Fortis Noida blood bank to determine his blood group...unfortunately, the patient had O -ve blood group which is considered as rarest of rare blood group. The blood bank just had 1 unit of O -ve so the attendants were asked to get 2 units of blood from Fortis-Escort Delhi and 4 units from their own sources. The attendants rushed to Fortis-Escort hospital and bought two units of blood from there and brought remaining 4 units from their own sources as well.

Why didn't this great doctor ask for getting patient's blood group determined prior to getting the procedure done?

Why didn't the doctor and ICU staffs check to see if sufficient amount of blood is available in their blood bank or not?

Why weren't patient's attendants properly briefed about issues related to pleural tapping?

Later, AIIMS and RML doctors told the attendants that pleural tapping is an easy procedure to perform and can easily be performed by medical graduates..it's a daycare procedure and doesn't require any hospitalization.

Shouldn't hospital authority kick out whosoever did the tapping procedure terribly wrong?

Afterwards, the attendants were asked to authorize the doctors to perform open chest surgery to determine the spot where internal bleeding was happening...They said, “survival chances after the surgery is less”...somehow, the internal bleeding stopped happening on it's own and next day onward patient's health condition started improving. Without any valid reasons, the relevant doctor kept insisting on doing chest surgery although everything started looking normal in the X-Ray.

If everything was normal then why that doctor (know him by his face) insisted on doing surgery? Do they get paid or something for doing each surgery? Will share the name soon if needed.

Afterwards, everything started coming back to normal. Mukul Rastogi called the attendants and said, “it's a miracle (as he did not do anything to save him) and the patient is getting back to normal and will be discharged within two days”.

But on the same day around 10 pm, the attendants were told that the patient needs to be put on ventilator as a precautionary measure as CO2 level is on the higher side.., , if it is not done quickly, the patient may crash...the ICU doctor (Amit) put him on ventilator. After a couple of days, the patient started coming back to normal. With his low platelet count (25k), Mukul Rastogi and his ICU team decided to stop administering sedatives and that might have led to massive internal bleeding in his brain...afterwards, the doctors gave up on him.

Further, Mukul Rastogi started pretending to be innocent and started attributing Lymphoma for everything although it wasn't fully diagnosed yet. He kept changing his statement, was being so rude throughout the treatment. Kept changing his statements.

Mukul puts the final nail in patient's coffin by putting together fake details in the case summary by attributing the internal bleeding in brain to Lymphoma, family negligence etc, etc. The attendants tried hard to get the patient transferred to some other hospital but no hospitals were ready to take the patient on the basis of that fake case summary details.

Finally, patient's attendants coordinated with central government agencies and AIIMS senior staffs, and managed to get a ventilator equipped bed in the ICU (AIIMS). The attendants got the patient transferred to AIIMS but it was too late. The patient survived there was about 20 hours and ultimately died. Per the AIIMS doctor, the patient had already reached the end stage when he was brought to AIIMS. They also said, “the patient was kept on a high does of sedatives at Fortis Noida”.

Why was the patient kept on a high dose of sedative if his platelet count was too low?

Fortunately, the patient didn't take his last breath in that killer Liver Transplant ICU. His death certificate will have AIIMS, Delhi mentioned on it instead of Fortis Noida.

The attendants clearly observed one sharp difference between Mukul Rastogi (along with his killer team) and AIIMS doctors.
Mukul Rastogi never showed willingness to do something extraordinary to save the patient and chose a path (without keeping Patient's age in mind) that earns him more money. He and his team don't have any work ethics. Whereas AIIMS doctor showed eagerness to save the patient and their body language was so positive and tried really hard...Unlike these so-called doctors...they are actually monsters.

Hope after reading this true story Fortis Healthcare would take harsh action against Mukul Rastogi (a money-minded greedy doctor) who never showed willingness to provide best treatment to his patients.

Fortis Healthcare is a reputed name and these doctors do every possible things to put a dent on the reputation. It's not only a loss of life...it's actually a loss of trust...

I paid Rs. 1000 for online consultation of Dr. Arulvanan on 16.09.2020 through the Fortis Helpline no.[protected] and emailed the Ultra Sonography report of right bicep of my father Mr. Pramod Khairnar (UHID[protected]. At first instance the doctor got disconnected and at second instance after half an hour the doctor said that he has not received any report to comment and the call got cut. I followed up for the prescription but till today it is not received.
Without prescription how they can charge the patient? I requested to refund my money but got a very blunt answer that I should see the doctor in OPD next day. It is very impractical and impossible for me to take the patient (of age 80 years who is very weak) to see the doctor once again.
Due to health of patient and considering Covid19 risk it is very difficult for me to present him in front of the doctor and hence I requested a refund of Rs.1000. The hospital Coordinator bluntly denied the claim.

76 year old patient was kept on waiting by dr. Raj sharma, audiology, room a055, from 3p. M. To 5p. M.. Continuously, different reasons were given by reception and patient experience department. First it was told that doctor has gone for ward visit and will be back in half an hour. Then on reenquiring after half hour, it was told that doctor has gone to lunch and will take another half hour. When we re-enquired after half hour, reception staff misbehaved and said that only 5 minutes have passed and doctor will take another half hour for lunch. Post this, i went to patient experience department, who called the doctor or someone to enquire. During the call, patient experience department executive could clearly be heard saying "i will try to handle the situation with patient and attendant", and the same executive informed after cutting the call that dr. Raj sharma will come in another 10 minutes. We waited another 15 minutes, and then, when i went to re-check in patient experience department, there was no one there. Tried to get escalation matrix and contact details at reception, but no help was provided.

The Ordeal: Night of August 24th, 2020.

I had admitted my Mum in law Fortis Bangalore Cunningham Road Hospital for treatment around 7.30 pm. Initially they took her to ER did what was necessary and as I finished my formalities for admission and paid a good amount, they had prepped her to be shifted to CCU as confirmed earlier over call.

Until here it's all good and smooth. Ordeal starts once patient is shifted to CCU.

                1. There is No provision for Attenders to sit neither anyway near to CCU nor allowed to be in the hospital itself. Literally your are thrown out on the roads in the cold weather, that too when COVID threat hasn't died off.

                2. Raised this concern with MOD - Manager on duty Mr. Thomas and Mr. Pankaj asking for a resolution. As expected they cited health security concerns for attenders as they are also treating COVID patients, they can't allow anyone to be inside the hospital premises at night. Basically they are OK to throw you out in cold to fend for yourself a shelter under a tree and they are not concerned even if you get infected with COVID while you wait on the road.

                A question to be answered:

Is it not the responsibility of the hospital to provide a lounge or atleast few chairs to sit for attenders?

Will Fortis Hospitals / Wockhardt - Cunningham Road take responsibility if attender falls sick while waiting on the road the whole night?

                Who is answerable to this?

Putting a tagline - 'Excellence Uncompromised' does not help if it isn't followed up by action.

His is with regards to my husband who got admitted to fortis hospital noida

I raised the below concerns with regards to the bills raised to tpa and self and there has been no reply from the hospital after multiple follow ups. :

                  1. The hospital tpa raised a claim for twin sharing room when the patient was in a triple sharing room

                  2. The patient was given just 9 tabs of fabiflu on day1, which the patient declined and the doctor was also informed. The entire fabiflu 200mg strip for inr 3412.50 was charged to insurance when the patient did not consume the same

                  3. The patient has been charged with inr 3485 for safety goggles, n95 mask, gloves and other nme when this is not something that patient is using. This is for the doctors to use and is not for just one patient but for all the patients in the hospital that the particular doctor is visiting. How can this be charged back to us. This means hospital is charging 1 ppe that doctor used on a particular day to all the patients and making money out of it.

                        Address: Mohali

I am senior citizen, 65 and my husband, 71, an ex army officer. We have gone through very rough time during the last one month. On 13 may 2020... My husband had a nasty fall in our wet balcony at about 8.30 am. As i ran to help him i also slipped and fell downbut i escaped with minor injury. He was not able to get up and was in too much pain. It took him 20 mins to crawl inside the room. Since the pain was not subsiding we decided to take him to fortis hospital mohali. Thereafter it was a struggle for me to arrange for ambulance till 12.10 am. I called up fortis hospital. They said it would cost us rs 2500.00. I agreed but they we can't get the patient down from first floor so you have to organise getting the patient down from first floor. After about 10 mins they called me and said they will charge rs 3000. I said fine you come since he was in too much pain and i was all alone. A point to mention here that we live here alone as our children are abroad. I literally begged for help. I expressed my inability to get him down from first floor as all retired and senior citizens live in our neighbourhood.

then i called police help 112. I requested them to send ambulance.. The girl on phone said they can't provide ambulance for mohali. They could take the patient to only govt hospitals within chandigarh. I requested her to atleast send me help to bring the patient down. She said you can try with your sector police station... Then i called up sec 49 police station. They immediately agreed to provide help.in the meanwhile i called up echs polyclinic in sec 47. Since my husband is an ex - serviceman having retired from army. Officer in charge of echs polyclinic initially expressed his inability to provide the ambulance as there was another important task assigned to ambulance. Then my husband spoke to him and told him that i was in tremendous pain now you decide your priorities but i need medical help immediately... Echs ambulence arrived and police men were also there. With the help of ambulance staff and policemen he could be shifted to the ambulance. I have all the praise for echs ambulance and sec 49 policemen. When we reached fortis emergency, the stretcher was promptly brought. I casually told that boy who got the strtcher about my struggle to get ambulance from fortis. To my horror and surprise that boy said that it was he who had been talking to me about the ambulance. I was so surprised that such a reputed hospital has given the authority to the para-medic staff for provision of ambulance and haggle for the cost of service. Also he had the authority to refuse evacuation of patient from 1st floor of the house. It was so disgusting. My question here is if a person suffers cardiac arrest or heart attack then what our system will do to help save such a life...

we were lucky to see an excellent team of doctors led by dr sandeep gupta taking extra ordinary care of thr surgery of my husband. While all this was going on i found time to go to the pro office of fortis hospital. I narrated the sequence of events of our harrasment due to non availability of ambulance. My aim was to request them to look into the problem so that more people don't suffer from such a negligence. The lady in pro office heard me and assured me that they would do the needful. After some time she called me and said that the director of fortis has personally apologized and has assured this sort of negligence will not happen again. Also that your patient will reach back home safely when he is discharged. But reverse happened on the day of discharge of my husband from the hospital. I went to ask them for ambulance. It was a different lady at the counter. It was the same story again.. That they can't leave the patient to 1st floor. When i told her about the appology as conveyed to me the other day she expressed her inability to help. On top of all these she handed me over 2 cards containing the contact numbers of private operators of ambulances. These private ambulances are parked outside the main emergency gate of the hospital. When i asked her if you have fixed any rates with them, she said that you have to bargain yourself with them. Shocking, isn't it. All this added to my harrassment. Therefore i decided to put it in the knowledge of people who matter andour system to please ensure that senior citizens are not harrased in such circumstances.

Security Staff Sh Harinder Singh at IPD entrance of Fortis Escorts Hospital Amritsar using bad language with the attendents of the Patient that "Apka Patient marta hai toh mare, mujhe kya" .
Always wastes the meeting time of attendent with the patient by not allowing to enter the gate, inspite of being screening under infra scanner. And always humiliate the already upset attendent, as this happend with me and my father. Mother is on ventilator and the security person also makes us in trouble.

On 10th of this month i. E. May 2020, i expressed in detail of negligence by oncology (Fortis mohali) doctor's.12th of may i had been to the oncology department to get the medical reimbursement bills signed. And i felt contented after dr. Rajiv bedi himself and dr. Arunjeet kaur explained me of the patient's condition and they really were too generous and seemed much worried about the patient neelam (Uhid : 1814326). So whatever i wrote may not be taken as complaint but merely a feedback from a common man not from medical field. Because there is a long way the people in distress will find these doctor's as life saving angles. So one the so called bitter experience as per our non medical presumptions should not come their way while humanity needs their service. Sir we have been with fortis mohali since 19.02.2019 & our overall experience have been more than excellent, rest is our own luck. We wish these doctor's all good and high courage to serve the people in need and seek millions & millions of blessings.
With warm regards. Neelam & ravindra kumar.

Kindly refer your link "spare 60 seconds to share your experience" wherein yesterday late hours i. E. On 09.05.2020 i have in detail expressed how the patient neelam nln (Uhid : 1814326) was admitted for chemotherapy on 05.05.2020 could get only torture & no treatment till 08.05 2020. Doctors did not seem willing to treat the patient as they kept changing the treatment required and opted for further different test each time. Doctors are totally responsible for her present bedridden condition because initially they did not monitor the patient responding to ongoing post surgery chemo's (Folfox-6) after 3/4 cycles which was must. Also they neglected her neck pain complained since 10th chemo (5th cycle during first week of february 2020) when she was given cap. Myoril for the pain but it's mention is neither found in detailed bill not in the discharge summary however the doctor's prescription in file must carry the same. Sir, it is not understood how the doctors can go so negligent, insane & inhuman allowing a patient to decay knowingly. Such highly irresponsible doctors should not be allowed private practice outside because this alters their mindset towards the patient's admitted in hospitals and their negligence therefore can not be prevented from given to the knowledge of neighbouring states governments including utchandigarh administration because all that glitters is not gold. With regards. ravindra kumar.
