This mail is to seek your support and intervention in providing the insurance company (Liberty videocon) with the ‘technical report’ of my car bearing chassis no - makgm85bden03330. Regd no. Cho1ax-0575, which caught fire on 7th jan 2018 and was badly damaged, from your dealership ms harmony honda – chandigarh.
The background and details of the case are as below
I would like to bring to your kind notice that i purchased a honda idtech in march’ 2014 from lally motors - in chandigarh.
My car met with an accident on 22nd of december 2017. It was given to one of your authorised dealers/service centres, m/s harmony honda, phase1, industrial area, chandigarh for necessary repairs.
Front bumper, front fog lights, front skirting as well as the back side skirting was found to be damaged and needed repairs.
The car kept on lying with of m/s harmony honda, chandigarh, till 7th of january and was handed over to me ‘duly repaired’ on 7th of january at around 1 p. M.
However the very next day, i, e. On 8th of january, at around 8.30 pm. The car’s engine caught fire and it engulfed the front portion of the car within a couple of seconds.
I, along with my mother and sister were in the car at that time. This incident happened in sector 17, chandigarh, on the main road. We had a providential escape. My presence of mind saved the life of my sister who was sitting in on the passenger seat as i had to literally pull her out, just before a couple of seconds, the whole front portion caught fire!
Police as well fire brigade were promptly called and the onlookers too were of a great help.
The video clip provided to us by one of the onlookers clearly shows that how lucky we were that day.in a matter of a few seconds, a major tragedy could have occurred!
We called up mr. Gurnam singh (Advisor, honda harmony, chandigarh) from that spot itself.
To our shock, he denied any help whatsoever and told us to make arrangements on our own to tow the vehicle to the garage. Feeling utterly helpless, we escalated it to the g. M, mr jaswinder singh, who responded to our helplessness and turned up along with mr. Tara singh, body shop manager on the spot.
The vehicle was then towed away and a honda amaze was immediately offered to us as a temporary replacement.
It was also promised that the vehicle given as replacement will remain with us till the damaged car is repaired.
However, much to our shock, the car given as replacement was taken away by harmony honda officials from my residence, the very next day, (I. E 9th of jan) without giving me any reason or explanation!!
On complaining, they gave me yet another ‘replacement’ vehicle on 10th of january.
This car happened to be an old, shabby car with defective indicators, faulty accelerator, and faulty side windows’ auto mechanism!!! (Pics provided to mr. Tara singh, body shop manager, harmony honda, chandigarh). The car had such defects that anyone could have met with yet another accident!!
I was forced to borrow someone else’s’ car.
On 15th of january, even that car was taken back.
Since the day of the car catching fire i. E 8th of january 2018 till date, i have been constantly following up with the officials of m/s harmony honda, chandigarh, for the submission of ‘technical report’, which is supposed to be handed over to the insurance company for the settlement of the claims.
However, the gm as well as other officials are giving one excuse or another, using rude language, threating as well as giving misleading and contradictory statements whenever i go to pursue them for providing the ‘technical report’ to the insurer.
I have informed ‘121’ honda customer care on the day of the accident about the same and am following up daily from them about the same (You can check the records of 121 for the same). The responses from 121 are also varying from time to time saying ‘number not contactable’. The tat of 24 hour so far has stretched to a week. Ms kusum is my relationship manager.
I, through this detailed complaint, demand an immediate follow-up and remedial action from your end to be provided with technical report on an urgent basis.
