I, Vedula Rama Murthy S/o. V.A. Narasimham aged about 35 years, Occupation: Private employee R/o. Plot No. 107, Flat 306, Sai Shakti Enclave, Moti Nagar, Hyderabad – 500018.
I have taken a cellular connection with idea cellular limited in 2006 and have been using the connection till date and have been cleared all the bills till May 2011.
I have opted 3G services from Idea cellular limited in April-May 2011 billing cycle under the promotional package of Rs. 450/- monthly rental and 1200MB free usage.
I got an SMS around 12th of June stating that my unbilled amount has crossed my limit; please pay the unbilled amount to enjoy the uninterrupted services. I shocked and called the customer care representatives on[protected] couple of times and urged them to correct the errors and not to disconnect my services. I got an assurance that the excessive billing is because of data usage is being billing first and will get credit when the bill got generated.
Though I have begged the customer care couple of time not to disconnect my services, Idea cellular has disconnected all my services including voice calls, VAS services & 3G services on 16th June 2011 stating the reason of “un billed amount is exceeded the Credit limited”.
I have raised the complaints with customer care to resume of services as the mobile services are very important for me. The customer care has agreed that the unbilled amount is showing because of 3G free usage is being billed. I have risen below complaints & called numerous times to resume of services and correct the wrong billing. To my surprise, none of my complaints were been looked into and serviced, but they were closed without action.

The customer care has told me that I had used 10,57,560kb = 1032.77MB (1MB=1024kb) during the billing cycle of 24th May to 23rd June 2011. As per the plan that I had opted Rs. 450 monthly rental, I am eligible to use 1200MB free usage, but Idea has billed me Rs. 4426.85/- towards the usage of GPRS usage. I had asked & demanded the customer care how did you charged me when I haven’t crossed the free usage limit. None of the customer care guys has no clue what to say and every time they said someone will call me and will explain. No one has called me or reach me out to explain how and why they had charged me?
Whenever I had called the customer care, none of them able to understand my complaint, never tried to solve irregularities in the billing, but always says that someone will call back to me to resolve; but no one had called me till date. I have insisted to talk to the higher officials in idea to tell my issue and look for resolutions; but they always says that they don’t have authority to share the details of escalation. They are least bothered about customers and showing attitude. I request Idea management to check my call logs and listen to the customer interactions that I had. They have tested all my patience and raised BP in all my conversations.
Idea has never bothered to resolve my complaint, but only interested in how to bill the loyal customers high and collection of the same; leaving aside their ethical values.
I have received the bill vide No.[protected] dated 24 – June – 2011 for billing cycle 24 – May – 2011 to 23 – June – 2011 for Rs. 5996.50/-. I have raised the complaint to the customer care on billing error and they had replied me that they will provide a credit back. I have called them and spoke on this matter on 25th June, 30th June, 1st July, 3rd July, 6th July and 10 July 2011. As a responsible customer of Idea I had paid Rs. 1570 towards my mobile bill after deducting the data usage (billing error). Even though Idea has disconnected my services again today (July 30, 2011)
I have few questions to the Idea management and demanding explanation on the same on record:
1. How come a user can 1200 MB free usage, without exceeding credit limits (2K) when they bill for every kb till the billing date and then gives a credit?
2. If this is not possible, why they had floated this plan in market and causing inconvenience and misleading the loyal customers?
3. What is the intension of idea behind this kind o[censored]n matured plans?
4. How TRAI approved this kind of plans to the telecom operators?
Idea has caused lot of inconvenience, breach of Trust, mental stress and cheated me with 3G services billing and the way they handled the grievance.
I am demanding the Idea to give me an explanation on above complaint & Questions immediately, correct my billing, resume my services with immediate effect.
