I book tickets online rarely, and find that the irctc's web-site is indeed loo-sided to allow greater flexibility to agents, as they are white-listed, and a common person like me cannot create more than 2 tickets in a session.
If i need a multi-station ticket, or a ticket that crosses across several days, i need to book them separately on different days across different sessions.
Really it seems like everyone has been black-listed, and only agents are whitelisted. This is a faulty system, as the govt is promoting agents in this day and age of technology. I would understand reservations for small/remote/rurals towns, but it makes no sense to allow agents into the system.
