Dear sir/madam
i would like to know the exact rule for cancellation charge. i cancelled a ticket for two persons in AC of which I paid rs.140(TRANSACTION ID-[protected], DATED 4-01-11). Again i cancelled a ticket for one person for which i paid rs. 80 as cancellation charge(TRANSACTION ID-[protected], DATED 7-01-11).
I tried to go through the rules in your website but that was not very elaborative.

    I have filed a TDR on 15.1.10 vide ref. No. ekt[protected].
    PNR No. [protected]. I am to inform here that, there is to pass one year from
    filing TDR. But till today IRCTC authority have not taken any action or considered for refund the amount. So I am request your goodness to please consider and a complaint case may be lodged against IRCTC in connection with the above TDR.
    I have repeatedly requested to IRCTC TDR sect in this regard, but they've not taken any action.

      sir,i tried to book railway reservation tickets through IRCTC e-ticketing facility on 4th of jan 2011 during the booking process due to network failures my transaction could not succeed and reservation was not done . when i checked my account on 4th of jan 2011 balance is showing less amount by Rs 575 .         I have purchased train ticket on 21/12/2010 from Angamaly to Bangalore through onlie. The cost of ticket was Rs.504/- But it was not confirmed ticket.. The railway authority didnot allow me to travel,because they said it is invalid ticket. I am not aware of the details. Please arrange to reimburse my money.

I had booked two tickets for my wife and son to travel from Sambalpur to H Nizamuddin on 31/7/2010 vide PNR No.[protected] thru www.irctc.co.in. The passengers could not travel due to some last minute emergency. I filed onlone TDR on 1st Aug 2010. Even after 150 days I am still waiting for my refund to be credited to my Bank Account.
          I have made several phone calls to IRCTC Help desk and sent several mails to [protected]@irctc.co.in and [protected]@irctc.co.in. But I am not getting any response from them. Disgusted with the indifferent attitude of IRCTC I am filing this complaint hoping to get the refund from Railways. The details of TDR filed on line is given below.

          IRCTC — TDR indian railways e tickets

          Many poples are filling online TDR if their journey plan is cancelled, but indian railways are not providing money back for long long time,

          This is more pathetic and provoking situation in indian railways online systems which is causing trouble to passengers,

          pl look into matter, already our country is much corrupted and we sees big govt corruptions everyday in TV, WHY to trouble passengers for small amounts

          Indian Railways & IRCTC — e ticket TDR Filed, No Refund

          I had filed a TDR with TDR reference no : ekt[protected] against my E-ticket booked through IRCTC on 18/07/2011 with PNR number : [protected], for journey date :08/10/2011 from Haridwar to Dehradun.

          The reasons for filing the TDR were :
          1) Train Late More Than Three Hours
          2) Passenger Not Travelled

          The TDR was filed on 08//11/2011 as per the rules but I have not received any refund against the filed TDR. The Refund status is continuously being shown as "Refund under Process" and TDR status is being shown as "Forwarded To Railway", TDR Zone "NRBSB" ion IRCTC's Website under my login ID.

          Requesting you to kindly look into the matter from your end as more than 2 months have passed from the TDR filing date and I have still not received any refund.

            Hi,
            Amazingly so, the IRCTC e-ticket booking looks to be becoming funny piece of software written by incompetent engineers. Here is the case I am facing now.

            I want to book a ticket with following details:
            Train No: 12273 / HWH NDLS Duronto
            From: HWH TO: NDLS
            Date of journey:[protected]
            Date of Booking:[protected]
            Passengers: 1. Male/30yrs (me); 2.Female/30yrs with one kid of 2yrs
            Present availability: 453 in general quota (max sit is around 500/600 in general)

            While I am going to book this ticket on IRCTC web with "at least one lower berth" option (for the kid/female); it is saying that the ticket cannot be booked for lower berths are not available.

            This is ridiculous!!! Hardly 10/20% ticket is gone, there has to be a lot of lower berths available. Considering a kid of 2yrs is also travelling, I don't know how it denies offering a lower berth. I have tried three times (twice yesterday, once today). Same error repeated.

            Do you think this is a real case of scarcity of lower berth where 453 sits are available!

            Please offer some tea/coffee to the staffs/engineers who wrote the software. There must be some serious flaw! I faced the same problem earlier when 250 sits were available. I thought maybe all earlier people has opted for lower berth and with 40/50% booking done it may be possible. But I came to know now that this is not a real case o[censored]n-availability. It is a human error that seriously affects the traveller.

            Please take corrective action on the same.

            what else can you expect from pathetic Indian politicians, programmers and stupid railway authorities? They are totally incompetent. Nothing in india works, so it is not a surprise that IRCTC site is so poor and pathetic. I don't think there is any connection with booking and seating availabiltiy.

            If the berth is not available, why the heck do they deduct the amount FIRST and then inform that the seat could not be booked.

            What a SCAM!!! The railway minster needs to be dragged to court.

                I have been trying to book Tatkal online since about a week. My internet speed is 3 MBPS. However when I access the site before 8 am (around 7:59 am) the site is very fast. But at around 8 am when I try the site goes out of order and gives me a "Service Unavailable" error. I personally feel that the consumers are purposefully manipulated so that the travel agents get the advantage. Otherwise how is that the site works perfectly well at 7:79 am but goes out of order at 8am? I will appreciate if you can kindly take actions so that the consumers can obtain justice

                Hi,

                I am also trying to book ticket from JHS to PUNE by using Tatkal online service, however I am not successful. I am also facing the same issue, till 8:00 am site works fine but after 8:00 am it suddenly goes OUT OF SERVICE. Any How if we get the connection on site and try to book the ticket we do not get seat available .Even there was 140 seats available in taktal and within 3 min all the seats were booked.

                I am sure this is because of Agents available in market they use some software to book the tickets online in Tatkal.

                Sometime before IRCTC has tried to improve this service and they have introduced a random String mechanism in which if you book a ticket you get a string like for ex: "sdrg" and you have to enter that string after that you will be able to book the ticket. But not I do not know why this feature is not there and that's why the agent software is picking all the seats and book all the tickets immediately. I am telling you as I am from IT field so I know this feature.

                Tatkal service should be improve so that not only the Agent but we can also take it's advantages.

                Please look on this issue and fix it as soon as possible.
                I think Tatkal service is not for common man.

                  I have IRCTC Shubh Yatra membership through SBI card. However when I log in to my account it says that I am not a shubh yatra user.

                  I sent a mail to [protected]@irctc.co.in asking them to activate my membership to my IRCTC account. However I got a reply two weeks later about how to redeem Shubh Yatra points.

                    I have been trying to book tickets from Bangalore to Chennai through IRCTC site on 23.12.10 and 24.12.10. Though the site says that booking is available from 8.00 am, it is impossible to gain entry before 8.45am. By that time, all the tickets available through Tatkal are already booked and only wait listed seats are available. I have faced similar situations before also. One would like to know as to how these seats are booked except with the connivance of railway officials especially in a computerised environment. The railway minister it seems is oblivious to reality and has no time for such trivials. I hope she gets elected to the WB assemble asap and vacates the seat in favour of some efficient minister. Is is possible to get an answer through this site?

                    I hate IRCTC site, have never succeeded in booking tatkal tickets....click the search button @ 8AM and take your shower & breakfast, you will get the results @ 8:30AM with all the tickets sold out.

                    Concern please take proper action against IRCTC...
                    Sir,
                    www.irctc.co.in remain down in early hours of Tatkal Booking. This is a regular problem. Due to this we are not able to plan our travel in emergency. This problem was also telecasted in News channel about 2 months back. Then this problem was suspended for a short duration. Now again we are facing same problem.
                    Please do the needful as soon as possible.

                    Past 2 days, i've been trying to book Tatkal tickets. But it just doesn't work.
                    Site starts working properly around 08:30 but by that time all the tickets are gone.
                    I think it is a deliberate attempt to slow down the server so that Agents can work with Reservation counters and make more money. The person at the reservation counter also gets his cut.

                    So no wonder then that, if you pay 500/- per ticket extra to the travel agent, he'll get you the tatkal tickets.

                    On top of it, IRCTC has stopped the tatkal services till 09:00 am from all the third party providers like NGPAY, Cleartrip. And these guys run much faster than IRCTC.

                    To me it looks like a scam.

                    I have tried to book a ticket in West Coast Express on 18/01/2015 under the Tatkal Quota. The date of Journey was supposed to be 19/01/2015. As per the system, Tatkal tickets can be booked only 24 hours prior to the journey but I was offered tickets for travel on 20.01.2015. I did not notice this change in date as it is assumed that the tatkal quota ticket availability will be only for 19.01.2015 considering the 24 hour time frame. I booked the tickets and then found that the date Of journey was 20.01.2015 instead of 19.01.2015. As per the IRCTC Rules, no refund will be provided for confirmed tickets under the Tatkal quota but how did they permit me to book the ticket beyond the 24 hour time frame. I kindly request a full refund. Please let me know what are the information that will be required from my end regarding this issue.
                    Today is the third time i have tried for tatkal booking and every time i have failed. The site has crashed everytime within 2-3 minutes . The best part of the site is that they will fail you and you wont even know .Even i[censored] enter security captcha right they will make it wrong and you have to login again and again .Out of 10 times i have enter captcha wrong they will make it wrong 9 times and they make that one time correct so that no one gets suspicous . This site is under a big conspiracy a normal citizen of india cant even book a tatkal ticket.
                    the site is always unavailable or the site is temporarily unavailable from 10:00 to 10:05 during tatkal ticket, so we are not able to book the ticket while the agent book the same ticket during that time and the charge 1500 extra for one ticket, kindly available the site for common person so we can also book the ticket.pls
                    I tried to book tatkal ticket on June 02, 2015 for the below train ( travel date June 03, 2015) but for 2A 3A and SL it is showing as REGRET/CKWL1 from morning 10 AM ( i kept on trying till evening but with no luck ) and even the BOOK NOW option is not coming . Not sure why it is not even showing the BOOK NOW button or was it that Tatkal Quota was not opened for this train ?

                      This time I ensured to have 4MbPS broadband line before i tried booking a online tatkah ticket at IRCTC site but still the same problem of timed out. Does IRCTC has any other excuse. They can't blame windows as it was MAC OS this time with all cookies/history/temp files cleared. ping at irctc website came 220ms. Tracert was absolutly fine and was complete in 9 hops. Do you ppl need any other tech details to accept that IRCTC is playing around with end customers????

                      MAY I HAVE A REPLY TO THIS INSTEAD OF MAKING THIS SITE JUST A FORUM TO EXPRESS FRUSTRATION.....

                        It has been almost 2 year and 5 month and i have sent 10-20 email but all the time i heard that it is in progresss.
                        Pls let me know the process to complain in higher othority or tell me the process to clain it through consumer forum.
                        I think this is not the way to treate With Customer. Tell me the time duration when this issue can be solved and i get my money.

                          I am having my user account on IRCTC Portal to book the tickets as I am a frequent traveler but on Saturday when I was in need of having the entire history of tickets booked from my account I found that only it was showing me the latest 12 tickets but I need the history of tickets booked from January 2010 till December 2010 with details like :-

                          5. Destination Station
                          6. Cost of Ticket
                          7. Service Charge

                            I tried to book 1 train tickets on Nov 30 2014 from BPL to HYB for Dec 7 2014 Train name:KTK smpk kranti 12650 Train no .HDFC netBanking enabled money Rs 505 has been deducted from my account but tickets has not been booked.

                            Today I Login with my ID narayannb at 10 A.M. for tatkal ticket booking there were 58 sheets available but when I go for make payment it shows booking facility is temporary not available to this site. As you know tatkal tickes are booked in case of emergancy now no way available to us, why this is happening with us are there any agents who stop us to book tickets. Please do needful.

                            24march 2015 i booked a ticket from tiruchirappalli to kovilpatti on IRCTC portal.i pay the money using internet banking of sbi debit card.sir my balance(rs502.24) has been deducted into my account but my ticket was not booked.the transaction Ref no is [protected].so i requested you to please refund my money as early as possible.
                            I've been trying to book a ticket from the IRCTC site via Tatkal service for last 3 days at sharp 10:00 am- Till the time gets over...Everytime the site shows a message "THIS SITE IS NOT REACHABLE .Please TRY AGAIN LATER...!!".This is being deliberately done as it gets back to normal as soon as the tatkal timings are over and the availability shows waiting lists. Kindly take Strict and appropriate action against people and company responsible.

                              The above mentioned Ticket / PNR was issued to me (Booking Date 22 Nov; 2010) for the travelling by 8006 Koraput Howrah Express for the Date of Journey 05 Dec; 2010 by 2nd AC, between the sector Rourkela to Howrah.
                              But when I reached the station at Rourkela to board the train I was totally shocked to know that the particular train is on diverted route since last 5 to 6 months and not cross through Rourkela station. I was totally helpless to move Howrah as unable to get reservation in any train, beside this I was advised by customer care of IRCTC to proceed for TDR formalities for the said ticket instead of cancellation, as the chart was already prepared.
                              I proceeded for TDR formalities of the above ticket and also cancelled the following onward tickets;-
                              1. PNR. No. [protected] DOJ 07 Dec; 2010 HWH-BBS Train – 2073 BBS Jan Shatabdi Express
                              2. PNR. No. [protected] DOJ 08 Dec; 2010 BBS-ANGL Train – 8106 BBS-ROU Inter City Express
                              3. PNR No. [protected] DOJ 08 Dec; 2010 ANGL-BBS Train – 2894 BLGR BBS Super Express
                              I am surprised to see why the tickets of diverted route / cancelled trains are issued which are not running through stations since long period and even in railway site “train running position” the trains are shown running at time. Due to this negligence lot of passenger are harassed. I have suffered a big loss financially by cancelling the all tickets / tour visits and unnecessary staying in a hotel at Rourkela along with that mentally harassed. Along with this I have to kept wait for my refund against the Cancelled / TDR tickets.
                              Kindly let me know what the action is to be taken for the misleading the passengers.

                              IRCTC — issuance of tickets

                              It has been quite disgusting that while issuing a ticket for a family Indian Railway does not look into the age of the passengers and whether they are belong to a family and how they will accomodate their children. Online ticketing through IRCTC has become a big headache for million of customers in our country. My name is Paresh Das. I had booked a ticket from Howrah to New Delhi for my family vide PNR no. [protected], The ticket was issued in two coaches. one coach is alloted for myself and my wife which again given different berth. And another coach is alloted in to my two minor children and again in two different berth and very far. One child is alloted berth no. 8 and another is alloted 72. Now how a family could separate their children apart and leave them in such a condition for which Railway is resposible for any untoward incident takes place.
                              It is very much a serious concern while issuing a ticket for a family. Because issuing officer must understand when a person books his/her ticket for his/her family the ticket should be issued in such a manner so that the family should not stay apart.
                              Under these circustaces I request to look into matter on above PNR no. given and adjust ourselves while travelling from Howrah to New Delhi in one coach.

                              Today is 22/01/2011 & i am looking accommodation availability on indianrail.gov.in of below detail

                              Train # 16532 Garib NawaZ Exp. From Hubli JN to Ajmer for dated 23/04/2011 sleeper class. As attached file Screen1 date 23/04/2011 is disabled, if i go thru calender selction option, becasuse (reservation date is out of range), But if i manually insert 23/04/2011 it is shwoing waiting list 301 for sleeper see attached file screen2.
                              I just want to know & confirm that is this website problem or all ticket SOLD out before 90 days.

                              The same problem has occurred for me. The above mentioned ticket was issued to me ( Booking Date16th Jan; 2011) for the travelling by 18478 KALINGAUTKALEXP for the Date of Journey 22 Jan; 2011 by sleeper from Kharagpur Jn. to Cuttuk

                              When I reached Kharagpur Jn. station I was shocked to know that the train-route is diverted since last couple of months and it will not be crossing Kharagpur jn.

                              I mailed to IRCTC customer care just now. Please help me by informing what I can do against this and how I will get the refunds.

                              Same problem here for KALINGAUTKALEXP on date 7/10/2011 from Rourkela to tata I booked 3 AC ticket online at irctc.co.in
                              But when I reached rourkela I was told that train has been diverted to Jhrsukhda.I had to another train that time(supposed to be a replacement) to tata but train does not have any AC coach.What a cheating.Why allow to book something which is not available/running?

                                i made a ticket on 9th Dec, but after click pay option suddenly the server got down, so that i could'nt get the complete ticket. after that i made second ticket of same date and same destination point and this time i got the comlete ticket with delivery report. but irctc deduct payment twice for a single ticket from my PNB Debit cum ATM card. so plz refund the payment of that ticket which i could'nt get. my irctc ID is bhopalsndp and password is nikki14.                                     Dear Sir,
                                    Ihad booked one railway 3AC ticket (Rs. 1871/-) for two in tatkal quota in Shivganga exp (2560) from new delhi to allahabad jn on 20/01/2010 for journey on 21/01/2010. Transaction ID-[protected] & PNR No:[protected]. Unfortunately train was cancelled due to heavy fog and we booked another train ticket at same day to kanpur and boarded for same. I filed TDR for cancelled train refund on 27/01/2010. I also contacted and emailed IRCTC 3-4 times and they also replied through mails that the refund was under process. Now in DEC-2010, one email is sent to me that my reason for TDR filing was not ok and remarks given by IRCTC on my login page is 4540-NRBSB/1 Time Barred. The case is repudiated.
                                    After that I contacted IRCTC customer care once again and they suggested me to put another mail to reopen the case.

                                    So, I request you to take corrective actions & help to get my refund.

                                      I booked two tickets from howrah to dehradun on the doon express on 8th December 2010 from the irctc website. The first transaction id was [protected]IG35346446 and the second transaction Id was [protected]IG35346703. The bank details are provided are provided below. However I had some urgent family business and had to cancel both the tickets. Problem lies in the fact that one of the transaction [protected]IG35346446 is not being shown in the irctc website as cancelled (there is no representation of that transaction on the IRCTC website). However the money has been deducted twice from my bank account.Kindly see to it that I get my refund money in the shortest possible time.
