I have booked by Shatabdi for travel on 23rd march 2010 by exe class for travel from Mumbai to Bharuch. PNR no was [protected] and this was booked through my IRCTC account no [protected].

I had some urgent work and hence wanted to cancel the ticket on 22nd March 2010 and tried to do online but due to some problem in IRCTC website for connectivity with railways, i could not do and finally I wrote to IRCTC that they should cancel it immediately. They replied promptly asking me to send details which i sent. on 23rd mar 2010, after train left, I got a message that I should file tdr. I was angry and wrote to them that they are responsible for this and filed tdr.

I travelled to Bharuch later in different train.

The ticket checker either has by mistake made an entry that I travelled or he sold the seat unofficially( which is quite common in shatabdi and every one knows it), or the clerk who checked tdrs didnot check it properly or IRCTC has committed a mistake, I donot know.

After few months, i got a mail stating that my tdr is rejected and I have claimed fake. I was shocked and I sent the actual trael details and asked them how is it possible that i have travelled on a different train and shatabdi. I remember some correspondence was there later but it is lost now.



few days back, I got an email from irctc stating that my user id is blocked as i have claimed fake. I could not connect the two and i checked the above pnr quoted by them with all my recent transactions and could not match. I wrote back to them that they should give details and it was not pertaining to any of my travels i could trace. after much haggling they sent the details of above pnr.

Luckily for me, the correspondence with IRCTC requesting them to cancel my ticket several hours before train departure and their reply to send details to them which was also before train departure and my reply to them before train departure and their reply to file tdr and again my reply to them were all sent from my official email id and was kept in a folder.

then i remembered about this issue? i sent them the entire correspondence to them and told them that i was the aggrieved as they have not cancelled my ticket and asked me to file tdr and now they are saying that I have made a fake claim and I asked them to restore access.

There was no response from them. Meanwhile, i was travelling to china and i had booked earlier a ticket under pnr [protected] for travel on 25th april 2011 and i wanted it to be cancelled as i was abroad. i wrote to them that since they have blocked my id, they should cancel the ticket but they didnot respond and the entire ticket amount of Rs. 480 is hanging now and I stand to lose it as it has not been cancelled nor tdr is filed.

now i am again travelling abroad going to Korea and my ticket pnr [protected] for travel on 2nd may 2011 for travel from mumbai to bharuch by shatabdi cannot be used and hence i wrote to them to cancel the same. there is no response from them.

I am surprised at the callous attitude of the railways. What is the recourse available to me. i wrote to them stating that i will approach consumer court etc. they are aware that it is going to take lots of time and they can always escape.

i can also provide the mobile records which will show that i was at mumbai on 23rdmarch 2010 morning and left later. but these arrogant people at IRCTC will not bother i presume as they have not bothered about evidences submitted already.

should i write to railway minister or whom? what will happen to a common man who had no evidence and if the ticket checker writes he has travelled when the passenger has not travelled? I want to take it up seriously even if I have to spend several thousands so that these people are punished and they will never dream of doing this to any passenger forgetting that they are public servants and not masters of public.

    upar sabhi bhaio ne sahi bola ... ye irctc sirf agents ke liye hi bana hai .... unka jab ticket book ho jata hai tab ye irctc open hota hai... ye gov. sirf aam janta ko loot rahi hai aur agento ke sahare de rahi hai kyo ki unse unko fayada milta hai.... ye irctc jab aam janta ke liye nahi hai to ise band kiya jaye... ab jaise pahle Q me ticket lete the waise le lenge..........nahi to is kanoon ko change kiya jaye... yahi irctc se gujaris hai.... byeeeeeeeeee

      Hi Team,

      I have an A/c in irctc. They have said that they have blocked it stating that I have claimed for false TDR. with out giving any chance to prove my self they have blocked. & I did not get any refund for that.

      I have a few tickets which I need to travel for which I need the ERS so if they could send me asap I would be happy.

        Dear sir,

        I have booked a ticket from haridwar to gorakhpur for travel on 14.04.2010 in kumbh mela special. in pnr no.[protected] from my irctc user id "sudha rungt".and due to abonormal delay of the train in which the ticket was booked we have travelled by other train on the same date which ticket detail is given under and i have filed tdr regarding for PNR
        No. [protected]. I became shocked and surprised to see mail that
        railway is saying that passenger has travelled on the ticket. I do'nt
        know who have travelled on that ticket because due to very abnormal
        delay of train no. 0524 in which our ticket was booked, we decided to
        travel by road from haridwar to moradabad and talked to my son in law
        in moradabad to booke our ticket in any train in which resevation is
        available. He booked our ticket from his IRCTC user Id Muditgoel2 in
        train no. 8104 jalianwalabagh exp from moradabd to faizabad on the same
        date 14.04.2010.and again travel by road from faizabad to gorakhpur how
        it is possible. The detail of our ticket booked in train no 8104 for
        14.04.2010 is as under:

        you are requested to enquire the matter and reactivate my user id. I further request that in between the enquiry period activate my user id for print or cancel the ticket in this user id as i have not noted outside any pnr no. booked in this user id and susupend further booking from this id till irctc not satisfy our representation.
        I hope you will consider the matter softly as i am very old user of irctc site and faith on my version.

          hello, I booked banglore mail on april 15 2011 on tatkal but it wasn't reserved but i paid the money.

          Then after 2 days, in Refund status of failed transaction it comes as Settlement Processed.
          But my bank says it wasn't credited.

          Here are some details

            I was trying to book a train ticket in the IRTC website, I entered at 10mts to 8 and I got this message access only after 8am tried again at 7.57am same message and then at 8.10 the system hanged I restarted the system and was not able to get get to booking my ticket kept trying for over an hour in-between I go through when I went to book it showed 10 available and in 5 mts it changed to wait list. When it showed 10 available I was not able to book. Last month I had got Tatkal ticket through an agent and paid the agent fee Rs.600/- this time I wanted to save this amount and tried doing it on my own by did not succeed. Agents are able to get connected and get tickets alloted but we poor passengers are left helpless. There must diffidently be a some scam on tatkal ticket booking wish the authority investigates and make the system assessable at all the time fro every traveller. Also there is a 24 helpline no who do not respond the phone keeps ring and no one tales the call. I hope someone will take up this issue and resolve the scam that is in vogue.

              I have booked e-ticket (PNR: [protected]), but I dint travel on the ticket. So i filled TDR fro "Passenger Not Traveled".
              This claim is rejected by railway by saying passenger traveled and and they deactivated my id (ganu_10).
              I can challenge IRCTC that i have not traveled on said ticket. Also I have planned tickets booked on the id which I have to take prints/cancel.

              I want my ID to activate immediately and refund my claim amount.

              IRCTC — TDR Refund & Deactivation of ID

              Deactivation of ID : TDR rejection
              I have booked e-ticket (PNR Number: [protected]), from Gwalior to H Nizamuddin(NZM), Journey date 26.07.2010and departure time is 01.20AM. This train arrival time at H Nizamuddin(NZM) is 06.00AM on 26.07.2010. but I did not travel on the ticket. So I filed TDR for"Passenger Not Traveled".
              This claim is rejected by railway by saying passenger traveled and and they deactivated my id (mmbatra1).
              I can challenge IRCTC that i have not traveled on said ticket. Because I have booked another ticket vide (Pnr Number: [protected] )from Ruthiyai to H Nizamuddin(NZM), Journey date 25.07.2010, departure time is 20.45 hrs. This train arrival time at H Nizamuddin(NZM) is 11.10AM on 26.07.2010. and the train No. 7305 depature time is about 01.20AM ,dated 26.07.10.
              So, How is it possible that we are actually travelled in both the trains at the same time.
              I attatched both tickets as proofs for your reference.
              Please check & enquired and do the justice.
              I want my ID to activate immediately and refund my claim amount.

                Sir,
                I am working in the Railways for the past 12 years and a frequent traveler to my native place Alleppey, Kerala state with my family consisting my wife and two daughter as and when necessity arises. Since I am a Railway servant, I have been provided with 3 sets of privilege passes and 4 sets of Privilege Ticket Order for my whole family which is found insufficient for my travel for my needs since I have been posted at Trichy area which is about 480 Km's away from my native place.Apart from my travel schedule, I often tickets for my guests and relatives who visited residence. To fulfill the above needs I registered my name as a customer in IRTC's portal and book tickets as and when required and making payment either by debit card or internet banking.
                As such on 20/04/2011, I logged in the IRCTC's portal at about 08.02 hrs for booking of 2 tickets in T.No. 16865 Ex. Trichy to Ernakulam Jn. in SL class under Tatkal scheme. I processed all the data and made payment through the payment gateway of my SBI, Khajamalai Savings bank A/c No. [protected] for an amount of Rs. 554/- vide transaction ID No. ID-[protected] dated 20/04/2011 and the reference code of the bank for payment is TO TRANSFER INB IRCTC Railway tkt booking, [protected]IG48210418 TRANSFER TO [protected] SBI I.R.C.T.C. COLLECT, 554. But my surprise, I found that my ticket has not been booked and shown remark as "Payment Not Received From Bank". Then again I tried to book the tickets through internet and found that all the tickets booked within a fraction of seconds i.e. at about 08.30 hrs the whole seats have been sold out showing the status as W/L 20.
                When I felt that I have been left out, I send an e-mail to: [protected]@irctc.co.in
                date Wed, Apr 20, 2011 at 8:31 AM stating all the difficulties I have been faced and requesting to generate the ticket or to refund the amount immediately.
                In return a message has been received from [protected]@irctc.co.in and appending the details as follows:

                Important mainly because of the words in the message
                Dear Customer,
                We deeply regret for the inconvenience caused to you in this regard. As your payment status for transaction id [protected] was not communicated by the Payment gateway in time, the ticket booking did not materialize. After reconciliation if the amount is found debited, the same will be processed at Payment Gateway for refund. We would ensure that the refund is made at the earliest.
                In future you are requested to use the Refund status Tracking service Provided by the IRCTC. Select the <Refund Status> link in the left panel under <My transaction>. on the plan my travel page after you log in to www.irctc.co.in giving your userid and password.
                In conjunction with above statement we would like to pass one information that if you face any problem in E-tickets like cancellation & Online **TDR** Filing then you have to send mail to [protected]@irctc.co.in from registered e-mail id and apart from these query **for booking related general queries like refund, ERS, online booking etc. **please send mail to [protected]@irctc.co.in.
                We hope from the next time you will follow the same. *

                In nut shell I have been left out from the online reservation for tatkal quota to favour the bulk booking agents or some other reasons, from where the concerned peoples in this system were benefited. Again in the evening of 20/04/2011, I booked two tickets in the same train as W/L 176 & 177 for a daily train runs an average distance of 480 Km,s from Trichy to Ernakulam.
                In normal course no Railway servant will purchase a journey ticket for travelling in Railways, I used to purchase tickets for my journey when my privileges are exhausted or not able to fulfill the required procedures in emergency. When I am facing such problems, even though had a little knowledge about the black marketing of reserved Rail tickets, then what will be the position of an "aam admi". Hence I requested to those who are authorized to curb such mal practices or the agencies responsible to curb the same should be activated to ascertain the real truth behind the created failure in the system.

                  This transferred money is used as ONLINE NET MARKETING (Avenues India Pvt. Ltd.),ONLINE RAILWAY RESERVATION(e-ticket, IRCTC) & ONLINE Bill Payments(Bill Desk).

                      I have booked a e-ticket through irctc website on 29th jan 2011 in Tatkal quota for the Journey on 31-Jan-2011for my father Mr S.K.Pandey . Due to some kind of exam in Bareilly train was captured by full of candidates Lucknow railway station. Not a single passenger could enter into the train due to the mishandling of railway.
                      When passengers were asked for the refund amount then the commercial officer has written on the back side of the printed ticked for the refund immediately but not guided about the process to get the refund from the railway .
                      I have fild TDR on 1st Jan 2011 and on 19th April 2011 I got this reply from railway.

I got refund Rs: 1028 on 23.02.2010.But Train was late for more then 13 hr and as per rule I have to get my full refund i.e Rs. 2610 . Regarding this I talk and mail to to customer care several time but the same response that it is under process. It's already over one year and IRCTC is enjoying my money. Will IRCTC give some reason that why this happen to me??

                              today i have booked a ticket from durgapur to singrauli through irctc.co.in. but they have deducted double of the actual fare from my sbi ATM card account. at a result am totally surprised. but they have massaged me on my mobile that only one ticket is reserved. but the sbi bank inform me through sending consequently two sms that the deducted amount is double of the actual fare. is there any way to refund my money to my account?

                              i encountered a fail transaction on my first attempt to book a ticket from ludhiana to patna but on my second attempt i was able to book ticket. but double amount of the fare was deducted from my bank account . kindly verify the matter.

                                While travelling from Varanasi to Mumbai I found that many vendors were charging 15 Rs. for 10 Rs. Parle-G biscuits on Itarasi Rly. Station. when I asked about the unfair price vendors threatened to beat me. we must find out that is it same about other brands also? Is this exsist on all the stalls and other Railway Stations also. The vendors had clearly mentioned that biscuits are sold on mrp. vendors have nescafe stalls with IRCTC logo printed boards.
                                I hope cosumer forum and Railway will take some solid action on this unfair practice.
                                Kindly reply with the status of my complain as it is with a serious nature.

                                I have faced the same problem number of times at Pune Railway Station, where on purchase of any packed product costs atleast 20% extra.

                                Buscuits with MRP 7 are sold at 10, with MRP 12 are sold at 15.

                                On asking that MRP is less, the answer comes is " Lena hai toh Lo, warna Jao" ( English Translation - " If you want to take then take, otherwise Leave").

                                My complaint is regarding the food cooked and served in the railway canteen.I was travelling from Chennai to Bangalore on[protected].I ordered for a masala dosa for which I was charged Rs.40( I think with this amount you could have a south indian thali at reputed restaurants), inspite of paying such a huge amount the quality of food was so worse that I couldn't eat more than half of it.Since the dosa was so worse I was not satisfied with it and had to throw it so I decided to have a cup of tea .For my surprise the tea was just a combination of hot water and sugar nothing more than that and a rotten smell added to it.Please tell me who is the higher authority or any direct website which could take immediate action on the food and the price quoted in the train.My concern is not about me alone but think about the senior citizens who intake such food, this could cause an adverse effect on their health.

                                Travelling from Lucknow to Newdelhi right now train number 02003, standard rate of tea and coffee 10 rs issued by irctc being sell at 25 rupees plus the disposable cup is not being filled completely, what is the meaning of this water bottle Mrp 15 is being sold at 20 rupees whether its chilled or normal
                                Does people working in railways has no shame?
                                TC of the train is seeing all this and saying nothing that means he's also getting his share for such hideous work?

                                  The Lichhavi Express from Varanasi to Allahabad runs pathetically late every day. On my last visit I waited at the railway station with my old parents at Varanasi Railway Station for 2 hours. The station disnt have adequate infrastructure like inadequate seats for pessengers to sit while waiting, a dark and dingy waiting room, no drinking water availabile at station, no notice board informing abt the platform number etc, and inadeqaute/ untimely announcements by the railways station administration abt the train delay. Additionally, the cost to use the toilet on the platform station is Rs.5, unlike Rs.2 which is standard across all others. It is pathetic to see this kind of condition of India's historic city where so many foreigners are also traveling.
                                  On my way back from Allahabad to Delhi, again the Mahabodhi express (on 12th April, 2011) was late at the railway station by 1.5 hours. The information on the notice boards at the station stated platform no.1 for the train to arrive, but when the train came, the announcement was made for a different platform- no.3. I ran alongwith my old parents (>age of 60 years) who carried luggage in their hands and running to catch the train at the same time. Unfortunately when the platform changes so suddenly, we just managed to get inside the train (after all the running to be able to catch the train) when the train departed from the station. Ideally, the train should have waited some extra time to allow people to move from 1 platform to another, due to such a sudden change- which was only announced but not reflected on the notice boards of the station. I did struggle with my parents to catch the train, but I am sure there would have been more people who would have missed the train due to this unorganised way of behavior. Despite this, the train arrived Delhi 4 hours later than the scheduled arrival on 13th April. It is a highly unplanned way of working of Indian Railways!!!
                                  Seems like the Administration doesnt cares for TIME of people of INDIA.

                                    Today I had purchased one e Ticket by Satabdi Express (12019) from Howrah to Durgapur on the 20th instant for my senior Mr. P K Chakrovorty & myself. I had purchased the ticket with my Citi Bank Credit Card. On completion of the transaction (Total value Rs.600/-) the screen informed me that my transaction was void as the Banker had refused to OK my payment.
                                    I phoned up Citi Bank customer care & they informed me that my transaction has been passes & Rs.600.00 has been debited to IRCT name. My transaction approval code with Citi Bank, as informred by them is 070306.
                                    As I am going to now buy the ticket over the counter, I would request IRCTC not to debit my Account with Citi Bank Credit Card.
                                    Finally from 2.40 pm I had been trying to dial 139 (option 5) to get hold of railway customer care. Now it is 4.00 pm & no customer service representitive picked up the phone even once. Hence my complain to you.

                                        This is to bring to your notice the issues i faced with IRCTC site. I just made a booking for a ticket and although it was very slow i could reach till payment screen. However, after i entered the payment details and clicked submit, it did not complete the txn. This is very disappointing. This has happened couple of times today and i just gave up now.

                                        I have noticed that the website speed issue has been continuing for a long time now as well, for couple of years. It is extremely frustrating to book a ticket through IRCTC. What is IRCTC or Ministry of Railways doing to improve this website performance? This is just RIDICULOUS, waiting for 1 hour to book a single ticket!!!

                                        please close totally eticket booking through www.irctc.co.in because this is full cheating to people.their server capacity is very low means nobody can book ticket at 8AM so please close this wbsite totally or increase the server capacity like GOOGLE.

                                        I think we all forget that we live in a place called 'INDIA', here everything has the same nature 'Chalta hai'. If we break our heads in this website complaining for the attitude that our government has on us, the government does not need to be answerable to us. Actually the government is not answerable to us at all for any of its decisions, which are mostly wrong. There is nothing actually that can be done. The only way to kill this government is just stop paying your taxes...all of you... This is the limit man...how long are we going to fight against corruption and injustice, this is happening since 1947, when we got Independence from the britishers..!!! Absolute disgrace...

                                        The first complaint in this thread is from 2011 and now it is 2013. Still the service has not improved. Many time I face the same problem and need to spent a lot of time in booking a ticket, even at odd times. The communication error, session timeout and worst the "waiting" for returning back to irctc after payment.. the issues are too many.
                                        Even today I spent almost hours in booking and still unsuccessful at the end of it. This is pathetic service.

                                        India is supposed to be IT Hub and home to the best talents in IT, still the irctc site which is so important can not be improved in so many years?
