    I had booked the 4 tickets online from faridabad to Jammu Tawi but due to some unavoidable circumtenses, i had requested online to cancel the tickets and even the same has been done but ther refunded the amount after a deduction of INR 260 + 260= 520 for cancelling the tickets. I had tried a lot to call the customer care number but there is no reply. Few days before for this incident i had get canceled the 4 tickets of the same root but that time i was debited only 100 rupees, but this time i not able to understand as to why i have been charged 520 Rs. Following are the details of the tickets which i had asked to cancel:

      this is 100% true.irctc is just a useless website.for a normal user login under urgent circumstances.it never worked well.after all railway is not getting their much needed bribe money by this site's urgent transactions.
      it is just degrading indian railway standards more.
      I cannot express my hatred towards government sites and information systems in decent words. Filthy railway stations are the ugliest places on earth. With thousands of crores at their disposal, they cannot maintain even maintain a stupid website.Websites like cleartrip and makemytrip are blazing fast, but even they throw communication error when they try to contact filthy irctc servers.
      ha ha ha plst don't say again say 'the worst site'.. because the owners of worst sites will file the suit against you...
      hhe funny!!! what in India is the best??? Of course, povery and the corruption can be the best ;) ...

        Hello Sir/Madam

        Its very surprising to see that websites like Google/Facebook/Twitter handle much much heavy loads than IRCTC and yet they are never down.... However, IRCTC is religiously out of order at 8 AM each day and get back in line with in minutes only to show that all the tickets have been booked

        I think I dont need to tell what intentions are behind this.. Its known to every one... Can we think of being fair to the consumers and not just to a handful of people??

              Problem in retrieve train list during e-ticket

              Last few days , after login , I am unable to book train ticket thru' IRCTC web site.
              After filling required station code and date , I am getting one message " unable to retrieve train list". As result it is difficult to purchase e-ticket thru this web site.
              Please look into this matter at urgent basis....

              The IRCTC site for booking is too slow and very unreliable. Booking has become a big problem through this site. Most of the times the page fails to open and even if it does open when we are about to make a payment the page fails. I believe the server isnt maintained well . In short the service is Pathetic and Useless. Kindly look into this matter.

                Dear Sir/Madam,
                I am Mahabir Prasad Agrawal, retired Deputy Manager from State Bank of India. Today I have booked four tickets for AC-2 tier from Durg to Kiul by train No.13287 SOUTH BIHAR EXPRESS for journey on[protected] and for all the four only side upper birth have been allotted. I have also booked four tickets by train No. 13288 SOUTH BIHAR EXPRESS for AC-3 tier for return journey dated[protected] for which 3 upper births and 1 middile birth have been allotted. Out of the four persons for whom tickets have been purchased 3 are Sr. Citizen, suffering from joint / knee problems. The forth one is also a lady of 57 suffering from frozen soulder.

                Would railway minister who is said to be a person from common man and who claims that they specially cares for Senior Citizens well, see why during allotment of tickets the age is not considered. Further, after my booking above tickets 30 (AC-3 ) births are remaining available in train No.13288. How it can be believed that

                (1) All the 30 remaining birth is only upper births.
                (2) Why the births have not been allotted seriolly and only upper birth is left.

                  I canceled my ticket before my journey and the amount approved to refund from IRCTC and also the status of amount is refunded in account but the money was not reflected in my account. i write a mail to irctc care, they asked me to send my account statement if not refunded the money. i sent the statement but no action. i am pasting the mail communication into the complaint. look into this and do needful please.....

                        I have booked a ticket through online and it was waiting list. Even one day before the date of journey, the ticket was Waiting List only. I have waited for the Train. When I have gone to station to know the status, they told that it was still waiting list and not confirmed and the ticket is not valid.

                            I was to book tkt From DARBHANGA to NEWDELHI for 22/03/2011 in TATKAL
                            but to find that the site displaying the message
                            ! SORRY COMMUNICATION PROBLEM !
                            Despite the sting operation by some Tv channels Our railway 'Online Booking' service has not improved , THANKS to DALAL RAJ.

                            IRCTC online booking problems.. host of messages but no booking.

                            Today morning i wanted to book Tatkal tickets for 5 of my family members who wanted to travel from Agra to Chennai (broadband connection). Just before 8:am, the server behaved normal, and i was able to login without any problems. Only the server responded that I could not book before 8:am.

                            I waited patiently till 8:00am. Just a few seconds after 8:00am, the server put up a variety of error messages like:

                            - your session has expired.
                            - your browser have been idle for a long time, so log in again
                            - you might have clicked refresh/back buttons, so log in again
                            - you might have clicked the same button twice, so log in again
                            - communication problem
                            - service not available.

                            Finally, after about half hour, i.e., after 8:30am, the server behaved normal and "responded" to show that all available tickets have been taken and only waiting list tickets were available.

                            Now, isn't that funny! I'm sure, the Indian Railways would attribute all the above said messages to the user's (my) ignorance or to the excessive load on the server. But how come, these kind of messages never appear in any other online banking or trading or reservation systems (be it air or rail) across the world and only in the Indian Railways, irctc?

                            If you see the error messages, most of them are ridiculous!


                            For example,

                            - "your browser have been idle for a long time, so log in again" : (Hey there! i was waiting for your server to respond. thats not my problem)

                            - "you might have clicked refresh/back buttons, so log in again" : (What?!! you must be joking!! I did not press any refresh/back/ forward button... then who did??)

                            - "you might have clicked the same button twice, so log in again" : (First of all i didnt do it. Even if so, How does it matter? how does clicking the toggle button twice will affect any system??)

                            - "communication problem" : (You got it right mate! given the right amount in the right direction could have got the right "communication" path for me and fetched me the ticket...)


                            - "service not available" : (WTF are u taking about?)

                            Long live indian railways..
                            @barani_2011 Dude. U are right about the problem. but still these error messages are not funny at all.
                            "your browser have been idle for a long time, so log in again" :

                            while you leave your system idle. ITCTC logs you out and create bandwidth for other user. If they dont do so, every body will leave their machines logged into irctc. And the server performance will degrade.

                            rest two error messages... you can ignore. these are not applicable for your case.
                            "you might have clicked the same button twice, so log in again" and this matters. trust me I am an Software engineer. And we know this creates problem. Take a simple example- (although this never happens in real life.Its just for explaining) You are making payment. and you press "PAY" button twice. so what would happen?? what if it deducts money twice?? you definitely don't want this. So there are some mechanisms which prevent this action to avoid confusion at server side programs.

                            N yeah still Its a problem at IRCTC that it doesn't handle traffic b/w 8AM to 9AM. But again.. every body is trying b/w 8 to 9.

                              I had modified my profile in IRCTC ticket booking site recently. However, there was an error in spelling in the new e-mail id given by me and hence could not retrive the new password generated by the system.                               DEAR SIR, my login id for irctc is rosupatil which is locked. please send the e mail verification code and mobile verification code to regisrer the new password to open the account. i have to urgently get printouts for certain e tickets....

                                Dear SIR

                                I have booked a wait-listed ticket through IRCTC (pnr-[protected] ticket mentioned below) .

                                The reason is Partially Confirmed Ticket.

                                Travel date was 9th of june 2010
                                At the time of chart preparing one passenger was confirmed and five passenger was still wait listed.
                                They have not traveled
                                i have file TDR regarding the refund of this ticket on 24th june 2010.
                                when i contacted to irctc customer care for the refund they told me that my claim has been closed. after asking why they told me that the rest five passengers traveled on wait-listed ticket
                                .
                                SIR, THE CASE IS VERY SIMPLE WAITLISTED PASSENGER'S CANNOT TRAVEL ON E-TICKET

                                i have send mail again to reopen my TDR. and It has been reopened on 13 december 2010
                                but there is no refund till now

                                Therefore you are requested to reopen my TDR and refund me my amount


                                I HAVE ALREADY SENT DOZON MAILS
                                The case had been already too late .you are requested to process the refund as soon as possible

                                IRCTC asks you to take TDR/TTE Certificate/GC.
                                However, the TTE themselves do not Know the rules.

                                My case was a similar one, and by the rules we asked the TTE in the train to give the TTE certificate stating that the rest of passengers have not travelled. However, he does not know the rules and said that the amount would be refunded back automatically as they are waitlisted in the System.
                                The TTE in the train that day (23-May-2013) was Haricharan Singh (Delhi - Pune Duronto).

                                However, inspite of multiple mailers...no one is responding...
                                Adding on to the flavor, the same passengers travelled the next day on a valid ticket.

                                Still IRCTC will maintain that they travelled on bothe days 23rd and 24th...This is Frustration!!!

                                  SINCE SO MANY DAYS I AM TRYING TO BOOK A TICKET FROM www.irctc.co.in BUT IT IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY AND AFTER TRYING END NO OF TIMES , CONTINOUSLY THE PAGE WAS NOT OPENING PROPERLY AND THEREFORE WE ARE NOT ABLE TO TAKE BENEFIT FOR SUCH FACILITIES OF BOOKING TICKET AT HOME, UNNESSECORILY WE HAVE TO CONSUME OUR TIME TO GOING AT STATION AND BOOKING THE TICKET, WHILE WE HAVE A FACILITY TO BOOK A TICKET AT HOME THAN ALSO WE CANNOT TAKE BENEFIT.........

                                  IN RAILWAY BUDGET , GOVT OF RAILWAY DECLARED THAT NEW WEBSITE WILL BE LAUNCHED TO BOOK A TICKET.....SO WHEN THIS NEW WEBSITE COMING INTO ACTION.....

                                  I DONT UNDERSTAND... WHY GOVT PEOPLE ARE NOT BOTHERING TO GIVE PROPER FACILITY OR SERVICE TO PEOPLES, AND WE ARE FACING SUCH PROBLEM THAN ALSO WHY THEY ARE NOT TAKING CORRCTIVE ACTIONS.....

                                  IRCTC — site is not opening

                                  my indian railways internet rervation site is not opening despite typing the correct user id and password. I am requesting irctc to rectify at the earliest as i have to cancel part of my journey.

                                  This is the first time it is happening for me. please do the needful.

                                  IRCTC — site not opening

                                  i have to book tatkal tickets urgently
                                  but the irctc site is not opening
                                  either the connection is timing out or is being reset again and again
                                  happening since 8 am
                                  www.irctc.co.in is the worst of all websites I have ever seen in my career. Does the Government does not have enough fund to make the website from some reputed organization?

                                  It is very sad to say our country is growing tremendously in IT sector and still these government websites are made with such a low quality. I have seen small small wesbites are build with all the important features but the site which people are using most is not being paid attention.

                                  This irct.co.in website is not opening since a week, and it says service not available, to book a tatkal ticket at 10 AM. This is very disappointing, This webpage is not available is the message.
                                  railway people should take to solve this problem, and this is the problem since 5 years. and still they are not able to solve, then it must be hanved over to Tata services, like they have done in the case of Passport issue.

                                      As per my statement in CITIBANK credit card you have debited my online transaction twice which was done on 10/03/2011in irctc .co.in . when spoken to credit card merchant they gave me two approval nos.538013 & 981782 ,and asked irctc to reverse one of it ..
