Dear Sir / Mam,

I had gone to Goa from Mumbai by train in 2nd AC (Tatkal) ticket.
We were three person. Out of three, two tickets were confirmed and one was waitlisted.
The date of journey is 28.02.2010. TDR is filed on 02.03.2010. PNR no. is [protected].
I have not yet refunded a money and its 107 days gone.

I want to make a complaint why they take 107 days to refund the amount.
I want to know the process of refunding money.

I request you to please look after my complaint.

Indian Railway — Refund not received for Wait listed tickets

I had booked online tickets (e-ticket) on IRCTC website for 4 people from Mumbai to Bangalore (Krishnarajpuram). All 4 were wait listed tickets at time of booking.
During Chart preparation only 1 ticket was confirmed and others were still wait listed, so only 1 passenger travelled, so I assumed that remaining refund for the Wait listed tickets would be automatically refunded, but I never got the refund. After waiting for few days, I called up IRCTC helpline, and they asked me to file TDR.
I filed TDR but still after many months, I have not received the refund. Infact TDR now shows incorrect status even though only 1 passenger travelled and it just mentoins that "Passenger travelled" as per records, where only 1 passenger travelled.
When I call up IRCTC helpline and other refund dept numbers, they dont answer properly and say that refund is still in process even though it shows something on website.
How can I get my refund now ?

Dear Bhagya Lakshmi,

I had send many mails & made calls to IRCTC customer care, for the
last 02-03 months for a TDR refund. But desperately i didn't received
any response from your end either by mail or phone. This TDR is filed
in the month of JUne 2010, for the PNR number [protected]. & the
blocked amount is around Rs.2270.

It's more than 05 months & am eagerly waiting for the release of this
money (Rs.2270). I would like to request for your early response in
this regards.

    Dear Sir,

    I had applied for IRCTC jobs with reference to Recruitment Advertisement no.2009/IRCTC/HRD/Employees/1.
    My application no. was103478.
    They were suppose to take a written exams followed by interviews. I have not received any call letter for written exam.
    The list of selected candidates are published. I have not given any intimatdation of written exam or why i dont qualify for the exam, instead of whole system being online.
    I have duly paid my examination fee.

      Daily between 8am to 8:30 am the site shows a messege in bold letter "SERVICE UNAVAILABLE" which is very rude as it is the peak time for reservation in tatkal quota. Please see to the problem as this is not only my problem it is faced by almost every indian . This encourages agents to charge unfair price for the tatkal reservation from the common man.

        The chairman/Railway minister,
        Dear Sir/Madam,
        irctc, It is a matter of great harassment of Indian citizen, while the lines for booking of Tatkal tickets on line are remained blocked from 08.00 am to 09.30am and so stating 'service is not available'. /not opening page at all/timeout session etc This problem is persisting on everyday from 08 am to aroung 09.30am, but on the contrary, entire tatkal tickets are exhausted within five minutes, as soon as the time of tatkal ticket's booking starts. Some body may be blocking server with their vested interest. No use of tatkal on line booking for common public. If we go on railway windowS , there is also agents are flooding like anything with internal adjustment with booking clerk. Ultimate the present system is encouraging the curruption. Pl take necessary steps/action to improve the tatkal system in the interest of common public.

        yes you are absolutely correct.. in our country this is the major Disease-corruption every where...
        and our system of goverment...can't say in word.
        we should get another set of people like freedom fighters...
        I do agree with this. This is frustrating that in the age of technology they have very poor infrastructure. Even internet today runs fatser than IRCTC servers. Booking is a far story, even login (that has nothing to do with locking the reservation) takes 10 minutes after 8:00 AM. Whats the use of such a system then. IRCTC must address all these technical issues and must also stop the machchli bazar at railway counters...this is very bad that online system shows tatkal as waitlist but an agent can get a confirmed ticket for you at some extra charge (bribery). It puts serious questions over the character of overall railway system and its employees.

        I have spent 3 nights to get a confirmed ticket (to wake up in the morning and trying with tatkal quota online) to travel to my hometown where my father is no more but everyday I feel harrassed when system even can not login on time and by the time I login and search he trains, tatkal quota is exausted.Sometime back I faced same issues when my brother (who got heart attack) had to travel; back to hometown after release from hospital (can such a person travel like bhed-bakri i.e. without seat)...just imagine the suffering people have sometime due to such a corrupt system.

        I tried to book tatkal tickets today and it took 10 minutes for me to ge the the reservation availablity. I logged into the site at 8.00 AM sharp, but by the time itself, site was showing chennai express for 31st july availability in WL. It is really frustrating to use the IRCTC site, though the Indian railways has declared that it opened a new site Indian railways portal on July 7. This is worst way of managing an IT system.

          Sir,
          I reserver train seats in tatkal quota on 8th June 2010 for the journey on 10 th June from Bangalore to Gulbarga with PNR No :[protected] and Transaction ID: [protected] . But due to personal reasons i cancelled tatkal confirmed tickets on 10th June 2010 morning at 10:15 , but after cancellation the refund amount displayed is Zero .
          Pls look in to the matter for refunding amount (1027 Rs) as it is not fare to deduct all amount when those cancelled seats are alloted to some other passenger.

          I submit that I reserved 3T A.C tickets from Ongole to Mughal sarai on Sangha mitra express on 3-4-08, with P.N.R No[protected].But three members of my family failed to enter the compartment and the train left, but I returned from next stage vijayawada and the T.C notified it.Even after my several reminders the authorities are paying deaf ear.As per rules this comes under untravelled reserved tickets.I produced original ticket also to Dy Commercial Manager (refunds) Vijayawada and requested him by three reminders but in vain.
          Kindly do justice to me

            I have booked ticket to return from SHIMOGA TOWN to BANGALORE ( SBC ) on 14th June 2010. While in booking, the payment is deducted from my ANDRA BANK DEBIT CARD, but the ticket is not reserved. The browser redirected me to " REDIRECT=https://www.irctc.co.in/cgi-bin/bv60.dll/irctc/booking/bankresponse.do?... "

            Please let me know what I should do to get my ticket?

              Indian Railways claim : 'Now no longer standing in long queues to book your ticket.'. But when we try to do it through IRCTC, it takes more time than booking a ticket through a ticket window. I can prove this :

              Case A : Booking a ticket from ticket counter.

              1. Take an Auto and go to the railway station : 30 mins (approximately)
              2. Fill up the form : 2 mins
              3. Stand in queue : 60 mins(maximum)
              4. Book ticket : 1 min
              5. Come back home : 30 mins

              Total Time : 2 hrs 3 mins


              Case B : Online Reservation

              1. Switch on your laptop : 1 min
              2. Check in IRCTC : 1 min
              3. Login : 20 mins (This time is considering you have the fastest internet available, considering the heavily loaded advertisements on the site).
              4. Fill in the 'Plan My Travel' Page and check for the Available Trains : 20 mins
              5. Check Availability until you get your choice : 30 mins(since the availability window takes a long time to open)
              6. Relogin due to some error message : 25 mins
              7. Fill in the 'Plan My Travel' Page and check for the Available Trains : 20 mins
              8. Go for Book My ticket : 10 mins
              9. Fill in the details and say 'Book' : 5 mins
              10. Confirm : 10 mins
              11. Go for Payment : 5 mins(It takes lesser time to navigate through the bank websites)
              12. Get a booked ticket : 5 mins(Assuming there is no communication failure)
              13. Take a print : 1 min

              Total Time : 2 hrs 33 mins

              This is mostly the case when you try to book a Tatkal Ticket in the morning. Especially when you try to login at 8 am you never get through upto 8.30 am. If they say that there are many people trying to login at the same time, I do not buy that argument because technology today is too far developed to make such excuses.
              Making a facility available to save time 'at the cost of time', is economically not a very good sign, since it increases the Producer Surplus, at the cost of consumers' time. The allocation of resources is highly inefficient causing a huge amount of deadweight loss in the economy of the country.

              Kindly take this as a suggestion more than a complaint to bring India in the league of developed nations.

              P.S. : The timings stated in both the above cases are approximations of my experience.

                Its the case of refund of a ticket with PNR [protected] that was RAC till the time of chart preparation and "Passenger Not Travelled". TDR was filed on 13/7/2009. After so many emails, I got 50% refund in early Dec'09. Since then, I am fighting for the remaining 50% refund of Rs. 1060. IRCTC has sent 4 reminders to CCM/NR Railway since Dec'09; and everytime these are ignored by Delhi zone.

                Its almost a year now since I am chasing IRCTC; and IRCTC is chasing CCM/NR. I have incurred huge telephone bills and have suffered mental agony. I would like to be compensated not only for the ticket refund but also for the cost towards follow up and mental agony from the Railways.

                      Refund my money as possible as and do provide me the details amount the deduction of the amount after one day for the transaction made a day earlier. Why its happened?

                      i also have facing this type of problem. one thing to ask this is gov rule or not. this rule is applying all the ticket bookers.

                        When I started http://www.irctc.co.in/ at 7:50 AM it allowed me to log in & check availability etc. but as soon as 8:00 Am crossed when I clicked book ticket It says Service Unavailable & screen was white .

                        This is not the first time it happens every time at season peak.

                        Thats why agents charge you 400 - 500 RS more per ticket.

                        Strick Action need to taken or insider adjustment should be checked

                            I WANT TO FILE A COMPLAINT AGAINST IRCTC ONLINE RESERVATION SYSTEM,THAT ONLINE RESERVATION SITE CRASHES DAILY AT 8 AM TO 8:30 AM,WHICH IS THE PEAK TIME FOR BOOKING OF TATKAL TICKETS,ITS DIRECTLY A CASE OF CHEATING FROM IRCTC TO THEIR CONSUMERS,WHO TRUSTS THAT SITE,AM ALSO THE SUFFERER OF THAT PROBLEM,I LOSE MY JOB DUE TO THEIR IRRESPONSIBILITY ,BECAUSE I WAS UNABLE TO BOOK MY TICKET,ITS WELL KNOWN THAT THIS SITE IS RUNNING FOR THEIR BROKERS AND AGENTS WHO GAVE THEM GOOD AMOUNT OF COMMISSION,SO KINDLY TAKE SOME ACTION AGAINST THAT SITE ,BECAUSE I DON'T WANT THAT ANY OTHER PERSON SUFFER AS LIKE ME.
                            IRCTC site is not available during peak tatkal booking hours from 0800 hrs to 08.30 hrs.

                            Is it due to nexus between

                            a) IRCTC & Authorised travel agent or
                            b) Indian Railways & Touts
                            c) all taken togeather


                            This is aserious issue. On one hand we talk of transparency in Government functioning on the other side its tout-agent-govt nexus.

                              Hello,

                              Today (28/05/2010) I have done an online transaction to purchase a Tatkal ticket on 2304 Poorva Exp from New Delhi to Jhajha boarding on 30/05/2010 for Mr. Abhishek. Unfortunately after the payment was made through SBI debit card, the error, "REDIRECT=https://www.irctc.co.in/cgi-bin/bv60.dll/irctc/booking/bankrespon... came up without giving me the confirmation of the payment and neither the ticket is generated.

                              This is really embarrasing situation and IRCTC is expected to help me at the earliest with the ticket if the payment is already confirmed at their end. If not refund the same amount.

                              Expecting a reply as soon as possible.

                                same happened to me and this is being the normal behaviour of the site on trying to booking tatkal tickets for friday and sunday journey. once recieved a call from customer care, but still nothing changed. either service unavailable or no response from the server till all seats are booked.
                                I am very soory to say that the indian railway are unable to manage their sites.At the mean time i.e. between 8:00 to 8:30 am the irctc site is unavailable.We were trying to get the tatkal ticket but due to missmanagment we cannot do so.For this i am helding responsible the railway minister, employee and all other staff of railway.
                                Online ticket booking of railways is not at all trustworthy. The pathetic site gives 'Service Unavailable' message anytime. Why do they provide this facility of booking tickets online..sometimes it takes hours to book a normal ticket and if it is a Tatkal booking, it fails exactly at 8 AM. You will feel really lucky if you get a Tatkal reservation online. Railway should really work on this site.
                                Recently after the upgrade of IRCTC website, the website is frequently throwing errors like Service unavailable in between the ticket is being booked. I tried to clear the cache, reset the browser settings and invain. Sometimes the key frustrating point is at the time of credit card payment, we get service unavailable or page cannot be displayed error. Can this be sent over to IRCTC?

                                I could not retrieve the booked tickets or booked tickets history. Can respective team from irctc reply how to access the confirmed ticket history. I need to take the print out to travel. even my accountis not getting opened. please help me out.
                                I Agree and we should look at legal recourse for the lethargic attitude of Indian railways in general and IRCTC in particular, They can easily upgrade thier site to take maximum load, atleast they can put the requests in queue so that w do not get "SERVICE NOT AVAILABLE" shame on IRCTC

                                I have been trying to book tatkal ticket on www.irctc.co.in Since, past few days, whenever the counter opens (8:00 am). I am not able to book tickets. From 8:00 - 8-40, Service is unavailable. After service is restored, all tickets have been already booked, there is no tickets available.
                                This is really annoying and there is no help on the subjet from the company.

                                Please do the needful.
                                I will have to agree on this. Either the site is sold out by Rly officials so as to benefit middle men or totally incompetent to manage traffic. Task before railways to maintain such a website, is, no doubt, huge. But with the resources railways has, it should be able to handle heavy traffic. Instead, it is going down the same way as many govt websites went/are going. They do exist, but of no use to end users.

                                Indian Railways — IRCTC WEBSITE Service Not Available

                                I am the user of IRCTC website to book tickets online. In the initial days this service is very good. To book a tatkal ticket online via IRCTC, this website goes down exactly at 08:00AM everyday and will not be up till 09:00 AM or 10:00 AM. No point in having this service online. If this is an issue for few days our people are kind hearted to understand the situation. But this is happening regularly from years. In a developing country like India and which is a major hub for Information Technology and for an very large organisation like Indian railways this kind of issue can be resolved easily and will show the inefficiency of the system in railways to resolve this issue. Keeping this issue for years is raising new questions and doubts about the gain the middlemen gaining in getting the tickets in black and the loss to the organisation. I am not writing this as I am very disappointed due to this issue. I am sure that this is the issue for all the users of IRCTC. Hence I plead to take some necessary actions to resolve this issue and make IRCTC provide the fruitful service.

                                there is a good news indian railway ministers centre and state are personally taking interest in each and every citizen to help out. so try irctc and you will find the site is open for booking, modifying and cancelling tickets. jai ho indian government and india. india is on the progressiv path. railways will be clean. food will be cheap and clean. beddings will be clean and bug free. modern india will be role model for other countries. indian ministers will be all honest and serving poor people. every one will be singing praising songs for not only ministry of railways, and other ministries too speciall justice ministry. all parties will be good each other. if congress wins then it will tell bjp to rule india for 5 years. jai ho india, jai ho indian people. start irctc and you will never find SERVICE UNAVAILABLE.

                                Whenever I log in to the irctc website for booking a tatkal ticket it always show that service is unavailable. It is mainly in morning hours from 7:45 to 8:45. And after that it is logged in but upto that time all tatkal tickets were over. Is this a consequence of poor maintenance or anything else.
                                Really Shame on the Indian railways... they do nothing in the public interest, and I dont know what consumer forum is doing in this case. They must file a case on Indian Railways on base of public interest. All the way common man is the looser, after paying so much taxes also he dont get what he deserves.
                                I tried to book the tatkal ticket two consecutive days, sharp 8:00 AM, but could not succeed to book the ticket. Every time I tried to login I frustrated and disappointed by getting Service Unavailable message. This is nothing to do with servers problem but simply IRCTC block the servers to be accessible by general public. It is a nexus betwee Indian Rail employees and travel agents and IRCTC itself. Chor hain sab ke sab.

                                We as a common men are always loosers. INDIA is shining!
                                I have been trying to book tickets in Tatkal by using IRCTC website (I have an account) and at 10 AM, the booking service becomes unavailable. This is a big hassle. There were different set of problems before the new regulation came in and now the tauts seem to have found a different way. IRCTC should look into the problem and make sure common people also get Tatkal ticket.

                                Hi, i am an IRCTC user. I am trying for tatkal past from 5 days to go home, but from 8 to 12 service is showing unavailable. How will i get the ticket ? I can not go to the railway booking counter before one night for sleeping.why will i depend on these stupid agencies. Extremely poor server of Indian railway . 3rd class railway policies i.e. inconsistent every time. Public is not getting benifit at all. Perhaps broker agencies are getting benefit. Better they should hand it over to some private agency completely. At least public will get a good service at any time.
                                Is this really an official complaints platform for IRCTC, I wonder! After making photo identification compulsory during the journey the government and Indian railway has, to a large extent, plugged the loopholes available for looting the public in general. Now, the irctc is the only such tool left to mint money from general public and harassing them to a level of extreme frustration. The servers are not slow, they are knowingly downgraded at the peak time for the general public just to facilitate the Agents who demand, like a ransom, anything from INR 300-1000 per ticket.

                                I suggest, the people who successfully book ticket through the irctc website between 8 AM and 11 PM should be awarded Bharat Ratna, Padma Bhushan and Padma Vibhushan etc. as they have achieved the impossble in their life!!

                                I am trying to book ticket but the site of the Indian Railway is not opening at all and a 'Service Unavailable' message is only displayed over there. I went through the reasons and marked that many victims like me have suffered the same. Why Indian Railway does not take any step to cure it? People say, India has poverty. But Railway, when lots of people are interested to book your ticket, why don't you upgrade your systems to accommodate more customers? Please look in to the matter.

                                  1. Transportation by Non A/C 2x2 Push back Luxury Coach- we got 2x1 worst scrap coach, we paid 3500 extra for A/c - a/c worked like a fan.
                                  2. Sightseeing was not performed as per itinerary.
                                  3. breakfast was limited to paratha and sandwich only, no other option on request also.
                                  4. At some places lunch was horrible, with flies hovering over the buffet plates all along(hotel Shere-punjab, while coming back from kurfi valley)
                                  5. even after calling adeventure tourism/Matiri tours(subcontractor of IRCTC) - Mr. Bansal, IRCTC - Mumbai, solution was not provided for travel.
                                  6. No co-oridnator was appointed for this group tour - everything was left to driver.
                                  7. Campfire was not provided as said in itinerary sighting some strange reasons.
                                  8. Given the size of the group no additional vehicle was given(by Adventure tourism/maitri holidays - subcontractor of IRCTC at delhi and IRCTC - Mumbai tour co-ordinator or his boss- Mr. Amrish, as a result I did spend from my own pocket additional money & took local vehicle on hire.

                                    My complaint is regarding Tatkal quota for train No. 2943 (Udyogkarmi Express. I was planning to book tatkal ticket from Bhopal to Kanpur on 25 may 2010 as train schedule was on 27/5/2010. On 24 when checked the status, I was surprised to that only 4 seat were left at 5.00 pm.

                                    When I logged in IRCTC to book my ticket, site showed to check the date of booking.

                                    How it is possible? I have saved the webpage for future reference which showing the date, time, server name ...etc.
                                    If needed I can send the saved page also.

                                    I don't know whether this is a kind of government segment issue or what, but if you are able to get ticket easily in tatkal quota, then that is a achievement now days,
                                    at 9:59 i see 86 tickets available and right after 2 minutes server got hanged.. when it comes back i see waiting list of 10 numbers.
                                    How can anyone book tickets if the server is hanged

                                        I have forgot my IRCTC account password. When I try to reset it with the received verification code, I get an error message "Password could not be reset".

                                        Your website is real waste of time... It's really slow... It doesn't allow us to view the ticket availability without logging in... It becomes reallly worthless from 7am to 12pm ... Please rectify it
