Booking second AC tickets through IRCTC is fine. But every time when we book, ( a group of 3 with senior citizens), we end up ahving only one side-lower and rest upper berths.
Though we book months in advance, the berths in Kacheguda Bangalore express is always not available.

But RAC booking passengers get nice lower berths. This ahp happened several times.

Looks like the reserved quota for VIPs and railway staff take up most of the berths. And once it is released just before the departure , the lower berths are allotted to late comers(RACs).

This causes much heartburn.

Why can't we have " option for lower berths , if available" too?

Why cant the government quota be allotted in Upper berths, so as not to inconvenience the paying public and senior citizens?

BERTH ALLOTMENT COMPLAINT — BY PASS IN ALLOTMENT OF RAC

MY BROTHER MR. & MRS.PARDEEP KUMAR DHINGRA DOING JOURNEY IN TRAIN NO.2415 TODAY 01.08.2009 PNR NO.[protected] FROM INDORE TO NZM AND HAVING WL-37, 38 ON THE TIME OF BOOKING AND THEN RAC 71 IN COACH NO.RAS-8, BUT TTE HAS ALLOTED A BERTH TO OTHER PERSON BY BYPASSING WHOSE PNR NUMBER IS[protected] IN THE SAME COACH . IS IT FARE IN INDIAN RAILWAY.
it is perfectly right. I also have same experience.
In fact, even after having confirm birth in 2nd a.c., we were sitting 3 person per seat because nearby births were RAC.
Then what is the benefit of booking in 2nd a.c...
I would be demanding difference refund.

    train no. 6530, journey date 07/10/09 pnr no. [protected]. already filed a TDR but still not received any refund or proper status. They are taking advantage of peoples money coz its government site and we cant do anything against them. enjoying crores of money for free

    E-ticket — Refund not received even after 4 months

      First of all want to share that IRCTC has a very faulty system doesn't give smooth transaction at all, as far as my experience with this is concerned. Most of the time we want to do transaction through it we find failed transaction for which they deduct money from our a/c and find a very cumbersome process to get back our own money.
      This 3rd of Feb 2010 I tried to purchase ticket through IRCTC, I tried three times and both the transactions were failed one. The Transaction IDs are [protected], [protected], [protected] and for that they have deducted a sum of Rs. 526, Rs. 549 and Rs. 549 respectively. On 4th of Feb-10 I succeed to purchase my ticket. Although IRCTC has refunded my money (I had tried with my SBI Debit Card) for the 2nd & 3rd Transaction IDs but keeping mum or giving superfluous reply for the 1st one. Whatever they have asked like scan copy of my statement I have given to them twice but still they are not giving proper and specific answer to me. As a nodal boy I am asking your kind support for justice to get rid of this faulty system of IRCTC. I have some restless e-mail communication with IRCTC in this regard and can sent you if you deseired in future to prove my stand.

      Hi,
      I am a frequent traveller through IRCTC. I recently went to pick my mother (Pnr #[protected] from the Secunderabad(South Central railway station) there was Platform ticket machine which was not working and the queues was so long for tickets as matter o[censored]rgency because of luggage i need to go to the platform directly there without ticket. I showed my mothers ticket at the exit the lady asked me to pay bribe of 100rs to leave us i explained the problem and told her the machine was not working and she was arguing telling me thats not my problem then she wrote a challan for 260rs. The challan Ticket number 291109. The reason for challan is written as i have travelled from LPT to SC through MMTS which was not the case reason stated as TWOT. Please advise and take actions in this scenario what should we do.

        I filed TDR for PNR. No. [protected] & [protected] on 18th May09 & 24th Aug09 respectively. I have not received my refund till date. This has taken almost 9 months till date. How much more time, I will have to wait?

        i have book two tickets in different train on same date with my familyfrom bhopal to kopargaon .i face problem that one seat confirm in each train.one in AC (pune special exp) & other in sleeper class(sleeper class).both confirm ticket in my name.so that time i have taken decision & with my afforts i get 1no seat in 2Ac in jhelum express for that i paid 800 Rs, in which i have sleeper ticket on jhelum express.my wife move in 2Ac & i moves in sleeper class in same train which is said.
        After that i file TDR, No message is delivered by railways in my mail id, when i see the filed TDR report on 9.6.2010 that time i know that my TDR request is Regreted by CCM .
        so i want to know that how 1 person travel in two train ?

        can any railway person will justify this query.

            Dear Sir,

            I would like to draw your kind attention that I have ordered a veg meal for dinner in which I found two chapathi's(uncooked) were served instead of four puri's.

            When enquired about the puri's, MD FAROOQ(staff of pantry car) bluffed me saying that "this is puri".
            The same thing when I ordered tea they provide me only 70-80 ml instead of 150ml.The quality and quantity of other food items is also worst.

            When I asked about the Complaint Book from the manager of PANTRY CAR he refused to provide me the Complaint book.

            So I request your honour to please look into the matter with immediate effect as it is being happening everytime.

            IRCTC — Catering Service

            Dear Sir/ Madame

            My father Mr. Kamal kapoor is right now travelling in the following train ni:2926, his P. N. R no : [protected], dated 29/02/08, Jalandhar to Mumbai. Would like to inform you that he demanded a nonveg breakfast and lunch from pantry being run by the IRCTC and was refused by the catering deptt on the pretext of fear of the bird flu and on the directions of the railway authorities they are not serving teh nonoveg food to the passengers from the last two to three months.

            On demand to produce circular if any, the concerned people failed to produce the same. My fateher has also filed a formal complaint in the complaint book vide receipt no. 18.

            My father Mr. kamal Kapoor also visited the pantry area and denanded a menu from them which he again refused by the manager ( Pantry) and to his surprise the70% of the food items displayed on the menu board were not available... eg..fish curry, south indian food, lassi etc.

            And also they are using LPG cylinders for the cooking purpose in the kitchen which is of highly inflammable natture and can be of great danger.

            Also the kitchen was in the most unhygeinic conditions.

            you are requested to kindly meet up with Mr. kamal kapoor ASAP he reaches the NEW DELHI railway station.

            this complaint is regarding the bad catering service of irctc
            i have travelled in Garib Rath on 17th of june 2012
            the train started at 11:30 AM from New Delhi and there were no vendors carrying drinking water till 04:20 when the first vendor with water came across my berth and all the other vendors carrying cold drinks, chips, burgers, cutlets etc, were regularly supplying and other person who needs water were getting self service by travelling to pantry car

                Dear Sir/Mam,

                I have booked ticket from dadar to pandharpur and return for journey on 4th feb, 2010. There are 6 travellers with 2 senior citizen (1 Male and 1 Female). I didnt get concession for them. my pnr no. is [protected] and [protected].

                The ticket rates is Rs. 116 for Sleeper class for general public.

                I was charged Rs. 689 + 25. but the with concession i should have been charged Rs. 603 + 25 for both tickets

                As per the recent Railway Budget 2011, women aged 58 years and above are treated as senior citizen and 50% concession in the railway fare is allowed, while male above 60 years and above are eligible for 40% concession effective from Apr 2011 onwards.

                It is understood that the above concession is yet to be extended to the
                senior citizen. I shall be grateful if anyone who has access to the Railway Board could confirm as to whether the railways have already issued necessary directives in this regard or not. My e-mail id is [protected]@rediffmail.com.

                  Hi,

                  When you are managing a web site that holds the information of the entire Indian Railway Department, you always need to make sure that the web site runs fine rather than leaving it on its own...

                  I have been trying to book a ticket from the IRCTC online ticket booking facility and it took me almost 2 hours for booking as the server was not reachable some times and the connection was lost a few times which is not at all acceptable. I would have walked to a nearby railway station and book the ticket with in 1 hour.

                  Well, its time for you guys to upgrade your servers and the make sure that you are providing a Quality service and also perform regular maintenance on your servers and routers rather than making people suffer.

                  Looking for a great service ahead from the IRCTC team.....

                  I totally disagree with your IRCTC site working slowly. This is the most advanced and sensitive site working 24*7. My advice is you better first save passenger name/s in advance before internet booking of tickets, thereafter keep handy dr./cr. card details and take caution to bear for some time while the processing is on (no back button or other working on computer) and enjoy the benefits indian railways hve provided at your doorsteps rather desktop/printer.

                    DEAR SIR,

                    I TRIED TO BOOK AN E-TICKET FROM PUNE TO SOLAPUR ON PUNE-SOLAPUR PASSENGER FOR 22 JAN 10 ON 22-JAN-10. I COULD NOT GET THE SOFT COPY OF THE TICKET, BUT Rs. 71/- WAS DEBITED FROM MY A/C!!!

                      My name is pankaj kumar i book my ticket in chattishgarh express (Train No. & Name: 8238/CHHATISGARH EXP ) on 19 jan but due to late running of train approx 12 hour i cant able to do my journey and i want to cancel my ticket .                         i have booked an e-ticket on 29th dec 09 from irctc website
                        from Guntur to secundrabad with PNR No [protected]
                        with my Indian Overseas Bank VISA Debit Card through AXIS Bank Payment Gateway

                        i had canceled that ticket from irctc website on 30th dec 09

                        i got an email conformation on 31st dec 09 that the amount would be refunded in 2 to 3 working days
                        but till now the amount had not refunded


                        so i emailed the issue to [protected]@irctc.co.in

                        they responded to my email and asked me for my bank statement copy

                        then i downloaded the statement from my internet banking site and sent it

                        then they sent me a complaint number IRCTC #839409

                        after several days i got a reply from irctc that

                        "The refund has been processed against the txn-id [protected] on 01-Jan-2010. The refund
                        ARN# 74056630001936500086737.
                        With the help of ARN you can ask the refund status with card issuing authority. "

                        now i went to IOB Guntur Main Br where im having my account and told the issue
                        the officer inquired some one over phone and told me that he is helpless

                        now what should i do whom should i ask for this

                          After our great Mamaata Bainarjee came to power as the Railway Minister, the irctc website is very slow, even on normal days, forget about the usual 8 to 8:30 AM booking rush time. Earlier people were unable to book over the counter whereas people could tickets on irctc, if they login at the right time. Atleast, a small percentage of the Indian Railways Passenger were happy to get tickets without going through the brokers and pay extra. One fine day, the brokers met Mamaata and told " see we are not happy, with the passengers who book tickets online, we want that money too". Mamaata calls up the Railway officials and ask them to pull the plug of all the servers except one. The result" the site is down most of the time", brokers smile all the way to bank, because now every passenger has to via the brokers. "The end" IRCTC... You guys like this story?

                          Upto now I have collected a part of my Oct 2009 salary, service certificate and relieving order without rubber stamp.

                          I had given my SBI life insurance savings of worth one lakh rupees to the management to consider it while deducting income tax.

                          But they have sent a Form number 16, without deducting any amount for my above said savings and HRA.

                          Suppose if we consider my savings for Rs 1 lakh & HRA, I need not pay income tax amount of Rs 6, 670/- for my Rs 2, 14, 757/- income.

                          So I request you to kindly instruct them to give new form number 16 with rectification and my remaining salary Rs 6, 670/- at the earliest.

                          Also I request you to advise them to give new service and relieving order with rubber stamp in perfect form in their college letter head.

                          With my able guidance and leadership only ACTCET got Anna University affiliation. Is it the right reward to me?

                          If management refuses to give my dues and certificates, I sacrifice the both and forget my ACTCET life.

                          Greetings Sir,

                          Thank you for your helps.

                          Upto now I have collected a part of my Oct 2009 salary, service certificate and relieving order without rubber stamp.

                          I had given my SBI life insurance savings of worth one lakh rupees to the management to consider it while deducting income tax.

                          But they have sent a Form number 16, without deducting any amount for my above said savings and HRA.

                          Suppose if we consider my savings for Rs 1 lakh & HRA, I need not pay income tax amount of Rs 6, 670/- for my Rs 2, 14, 757/- income.

                          So I request you to kindly instruct them to give new form number 16 with rectification and my remaining salary Rs 6, 670/- at the earliest.

                          Also I request you to advise them to give new service and relieving order with rubber stamp in perfect form in their college letter head.

                          With my able guidance and leadership only ACTCET got Anna University affiliation. Is it the right reward to me?

                          If management refuses to give my dues and certificates, I sacrifice the both and forget my ACTCET life.

                          I went to ariyalur from chennai on 24/04/2010 thro Guruvoiyur train. I got unreserved ticket but unable to travel due to much rush. so, I went thro reserved coach but the TTR charged extra two hundred (Receipt no935367). Can I know actual fine and kindly do the needful.

                          I like the story very much.
                          After retrying retrying & retrying I was able to book my 2 tickets in approx 2 hours which previously used to take 5-10 mins in non-peak hours.
                          It seems now every moment is peak!
                          Yeah IRCTC was really running fast when the BIHARI LALU was the Railway Minister. Good that the BIHARIS have been kicked out of Cabinet else they wud make the Railways another Cattle Farm.
                          Totally agree. This strangely coincides with the fact that the govt. has decided to stop payments to irctc and has taken catering in its own hands. And now even http://www.indianrail.gov.in has become painfully slow and almost impossible to use. Checking availability is taking more than 6 hours (the site apparently works only in off peak hours).
                          The IRCTC website is very slow from 08:00 AM to 09:00 AM ie at the time of Tatkal booking daily. Sometime we need to book Tatkal ticket from irctc sites but till the time the site opens all tatkal quota is finished.I think IRCTC trying to help the travel agents, so that pubilic visits these travel agent and pay extra for getting tatkal ticket.
                          Can some responsible authorities ( if there are any ) pls look in to this issue and help the public.

                          Completely agree.The site is very very slow.
                          Public entities like the railways will also come within the purview of the Consumer Protection Act. Therefore, people who get affected because of the railway dept can file a suit for deficiency in service in a consumer court/forum near your place. I was not able to take ticket because of the slow server. I filed a case in the consumer court for deficiency of service and i claimed for damages of Rs. 1, 00, 000. The consumer cases generally get finished within 3 months period. Mine got finished in 65 days and the court granted me 80, 000 Rs as compensation. Therefore, people who get affected, pls file a suit in the consumer court for deficiency of service and get your compensations.
                          It is truly a frustrating experiance now a days. Forget about the morning hours, even on early afternoon the connection and speed is toooooo slow. Atleast need to have couple of attempts and should have multiple source of funds to get the ticket.

                          Either it neve opens OR Opens but never allow to select the options. If you are lucky there is 100% chance to get missed during Payment gatway communication...

                          Completely agree.The site is very very slow.
                          Also, the site is poorly designed. It asks for password too many times. There was no need for such a password protection. The password should be asked only one time in a session. The password should also not expire so frequently. It is not an internet banking site. What is the worst thing that can happen? The disadvantage is that sometimes (actually manytimes), after we return to irctc page from payment gateway, the irctc session has expired (because it is soo slow) and then we have to book the ticket again and also wait for the refund of earlier transaction. This site must have been made by an incompetent trainee. Highly unprofessional!
                          I just want say TATKAL quota ticket cannot be made through IRCTC. One question to our H'ble Rly Minister whether you made this web site for Public / Broker Convenient ?

                            IRCTC booked a hotel room on 16 Deccember 2009 in hotel Hare rama hare krishna for one day with checkin 19/12/2009 and checkout date 20/12/2009 and charged Rs 678 including taxes through there website www.railtourismindia.com .This booking was confirmed on same day that is 16/12/2009 after all the transaction were completed . Even after all the confirmation calls a day before booking everything was fine, but on the day when we reached to hotel the hotel manager denied of any booking through IRCTC and after talking to IRCTC people they talked to hotel manager and he sent us to another low budget lodge and cheated us.

                            IRCTC — Fraudulent by Indian Railway Catering & Tourism Corporation

                            IRCTC charge Rs 20 commission with online booking. But next day Rs 10 deducted from my account automatically, without my permission.

                              IRCTC service is behaving very poor when i try to book tatkal in the morning by 8 AM. since the tatkal booking starts by 8 AM and the web server of IRCTC is not able to handle the huge consumer load exactly at 8AM. The websites goes hanged and when it become normalise all the tatkal tickets are completed. This kind of tatkal booking system is useless.

                              IRCTC can better put off this tatkal booking system online.

                              Is it overloading, or it is purely prioritising the agent login transaction on real time environment.

                              If it is overloading, it is purely a failure of IRCTC on sizing of Servers. People at helm of affairs should be taken into task

                              If it is prioritising agents form normal users of internet, it is an implementation issue. Management should answer as to why agents have been prioritised. IRCTC should make the things transparent so that every one o[censored]s should book tickets either throughagents or from counters at Railways.

                              No need wasting time on our computers

                                I was travelling by 2954 Agust Kranti Rajdhani express reschedule dated 09/01/2010 (PNR no.[protected] dated08/01/2010)
                                at 11.15 am from Nizamuddin to Mumbai cental
                                1] We noted that the IRCTC canteen inside train has not given
                                The intial breakfast after start of jouney only Tea was given .
                                We requested the service boy about cofee but he told Cofee is not available.whever supplied me by Manger that I will serve you.
                                2] Same day at night time ,the Canteen has not given complete
                                Dinner but canteen has given to all passenger only plain Rice ,Dal full of water,Pickle,Two raw bananas,Dahi Only.No roti,main sabji was provided.

                                Kindly note that customer has paid Rs400 extra in full ticket value including canteen facility than normal reseved ticket. So the canteen
                                Manager shall provide complete Dinner & breakfast.

                                I am not happy with this kind of poor services provided by
                                IRCTC canteen.

                                Trian no 02954, Nizamuddin to mumbai central, I'm onboard on train,
                                As per august Kranti train rule, breakfast and dinner are free, But your IRCTC pantry person is asking for MONEY (INR 130)to give the dinner.

                                I am traveling with 12954, audust kranti rajdhani from h. Nizamuddin to kota, PNR no [protected], food quality is so poor and thread found in chapati. Mater paneer is so pathatic. Its a serious issue in this corona period, my opinion to cancelled lisence to m/S express food services.

                                    last two weeks i have been observing that indian railways website does not available between 8 am and 10 am for normal users.
                                    If we want to book tatkal tickets we need to go through the agents only.
                                    They increased the tatkal seats but railways did not increase the coaches
                                    for example Bangalore to Bubhaneswar Prasanthi express has 48 tatkal seats in third ac ,earlier only 12 seats.Is indian railways looking for only profit or public transport ?
                                    Agents will get access any time from thier systems how ?
                                    I feel 101% genuine complaint. Being India's Most hitting, the site should be more reliable.

                                    Yes, He is very right. This is a cause of concern that for normal users site is never available. I do not understand why no body take some action on it. If we need to go to agent then please close this system so that we should not waste our time on the system.

                                      Dear Sir,



                                      I am also one of the millions frequent traveler of Indian Rail and respectively old user of IRCTC services like i-ticket & e-ticket.

                                      For e-ticket you allow only 5 ID cards that too in original and I would like to draw your attention towards this with hope and anticipation that with the relaxation of many norms of e-ticket you will also relax the same.

                                      Please remove the need of original ID proof and allow even Xerox of the same which should be legible. It should not be mandatory.

                                      Include more number of photo ID proofs as ID cards issued by Private Companies, Photo Debit and Credit Cards etc should also be allowed. As even the airlines (Govt as well as Private) are allowing the same.


                                      Since paper tickets are not requiring the ID card then why for e-tickets where each ticket is being booked through registered Users and designated bank account or credit/debit cards, you can easily track the IP addresses



                                      Sometimes it becomes harassment as we may not have any ID proof out of those 5 lists and there is good amount of argument we face occasionally.



                                      Therefore please give it a consideration and take necessary action in the interest of we passengers.
