I had a reservation for 3 tickets on 2-tier AC from Renigunta to Dadar on Train # 2164 for 7th March 2010.
Reservation date:[protected] Status at time of reservation: 13/14/15. PNR: [protected]

By 6th March the status had been updated to 3/4/5 and a few hours before travel improved to RHA1 17 / WL1 / WL2. I was traveling with my parents (68 and 57 yr old) and was not willing to board the train if we did not have individual berths.

We got to Renigunta station early to inquire about the possibility of traveling with 2 waitlisted passengers. We were CLEARLY told by the railway authorities that since we have 1 RAC passenger on the ticket, we are ALLOWED to board the train and the TC on the train should be able to accommodate the 2 wait listed names.

Given the assurances stated above we boarded the train and soon hit a brick wall. The TC started the conversation with "Its a full train and there not much I can do". Well he ended up doing a lot of stuff for another group which had 'lots' of money to shell out!

The same group shared the single RAC reservation with us and were kind enough to give the entire seat to us. So yeah we had now paid Rs 3680 to share 1 berth amongst:
- Me
- 68 yr old man
- 57 yr old woman.

The TC had the audacity to say "You dont have much to offer, the other group had a lot to give!"

After a good 8 hours of travel, a different TC was kind enough to allocate a 'no-show' seat to us in the adjacent berth and that made it a little better for the 3 o[censored]s.

I do not feel like claiming TDR since we all ended up traveling on the ticket on offer. However I ask IRCTC if this was worth Rs 3680 that they charged us?

      I try to book my ticket from amritsar by my home internet connection.but due to network failur its not booked and i have not recived any message.but the cost of ticket Rs 83 is deducted from my debit card.I think that its not a huge amout but how much inconvinece i feel only i can understan. by happining these type mistakes it make bad impression to us and our country.so please update ur software that people can use it freely without any fear.And tell me that how i can get my refund.thanks.

        I was Booking a ticket today from your website today i.e. www.irctc.co.in when i selected the train in which i prefered to travel & checked it's availability then it displayed available status but as i planned my ticket & made payment the ticket that was generated was of Waiting List.But when i checked the status again then it was the same as before that is Available.i have taken a screenshot of that & it's enclosed in the attachement within this mail.i request you to have a look at that.i'm providing you more details of the ticket that i booked today.

          Hi,
          I have booked tickets for my parents from Bangalore (SBC) to Hyderabad (KCG) for journey on 1/Mar/2010 on Kacheguda Express. My dad was is the main passenger and he lost is wallet on the way to the railway station and hence he could not provide the Original copy of ID card. Though he didn't have the original copy of any id cards, he had the SBI debit card with his name on it and the TTR refused to accept that as an id proof. Now there is no way that he can get his id card right at that moment. His other id proofs are at home in Hyderabad. What can anyone do in such situations? The TTR behaved rudely and demanded Rs.1048 (double the actual ticket fare for 2), which is totally insane. I need to know if this is the correct fine amount. I need to know if this is real way to behave with my parents who are totally tried explaining him what actually happened. I read in the tickets that even if you don't carry the actual ticket itself you will be fined only Rs.50 per head

          I paid Rs.563 for booking the tickets (online) and my parents paid a fine of Rs.1048. So totally we have paid up ~Rs.1611 (which is totally insane). I NEED JUSTICE and I need to be charged only what I should be charged. Also the TTR who has pained my parents and caused mental torture to them should be punished. So I need to escalate this issue, as well as I need to get back my money if he has charged us wrongly.

          IRCTC — IRCTC Duplicate Booking and Refunds

          Dear All,

          I hereby write with referance to above subject. I can not explain by words that how bad the IRCTC customer complaint redrassal system is.

          I have suffered twice in last 15days from it. I am a frequent traveller being a manager in MNC.
          To explain in first case, I have booked the ticket(E ticket) for 4 pax. Out of which 2 Pax got reservation amd i and my colleuge has not got the confirmed tickets and was waitlisted. On station the Chief Ticketing Officer has confirmed that i can board the train, However after boarding TTE has charged the heavey panalty and confirmed that the original amount will credtied back to the account. Which has not happened till date. And neither anybody responds from IRCTC [protected]@irctc.co.in nor they take calls on their all nos. I have lost 1600Rs.

          In second case with my surprise, I have booked the online Tatkal ticket using credit card once. But two tickets get booked automatically. i don't no how this happenes. In case if they will not cancell the ticket then i will again will be loosing Rs 1750.

          IRCTC - Tatkal — Online Tatkal for Bangalore Exp Fails

          Hi,

          Though the online booking for Tatkal starts at 8 am, the booking for Bangalore Exp (6525) says booking is not permitted. The Availabilty status says "Not Available" till all the tickets are over?? This is the 10th time atleast I am facing this problem. I have not seen this with other trains, and I dont know what the problem is with this one. If somebody can, please help.

          If you look at the picture below, you can see the time is now 8:40 am. It is still saying Booking Not Permitted?
          You are doing some mistake in selecting the stations.

          First thing is that TC who ever in S! coach asked my husband to give 500 rs for the ticket confirmation.
          Second this is that if not 500 rs you will pay he ask him to getdown in Lingapply.

          My question is that:
          For 400 rs ticked if we pay 500 rs extra to TC means my husband will get the seat?
          Is this the way of treating the passengers?
          nothing was mentioned like the in tatkal rules that if our tickets were not confirmed in tatkal means we shd not travel on that schedueld train why?
          Atleast tatkal people shd get the chance sit and travel in urgency.

          E-ticket — Debt of two tickets on booking a ticket

          Sir i have booked a ticket from Dehri on Sone to Amla for the date 14 Dec 2009 on 01 Dec 2009.I have made payment through ATM(SBI) but railway has deducted two times the same fare instead of one.Kindly resolve my problem.My cell no. is [protected]

          on 5th of feb 2010, I travelled with my family in ksrtc airavatha <volvo> at 23:00 for four seats. I forget my reservation ticket at home. I asked for a duplicate copy or cancellation of that four seats.As I am working in transport department of karnataka state with ID proof had the following information of the tickets-PNR number, seat number-13, 14, 19, 20, ticket number[protected] with ID proof .But still they did not allow us inside the bus.So the conductor suggested to pay the amount for same seats.Again I paid the amount Rs 558*4= Rs 2232/- .Hence I request you to refund the amount of reserved tickets back.

          Indian Railway auothorised IRCT to book tickets on some condition and terms. A passanger who books his ticket by IRCT he is bound to these condition. Train Ticket Checking Staff only obeys Railway Rules. He can not change the railway rules. So this is clear that " If passanger fail to show an photo identycard ( PAN Card, Driving Liscens, Election Photo Identy Card, Passport and Gornment issued Identy Card for their employee), he will treted as Without ticket."
          And if you are with an orignal identy card menion above and have no Electronic Reseevation Slip, you will be charges Rs.50/-
          When you are charged without ticket, you have to paid at about Rs.370/- more than orignal ticket fare in Sleeper class.
          I[censored] r travelling on E tkt u have to carry an ID proof. Since u are charged by TC, U can claim the refund by filing TDR, U can go through IRCTC web site. After log in u will find the link General-File TDR procedure.

          Ticket checker — WRONG CHARGE FINE PAID

          i had travelling form mulund to cbd belapur via thane i had bought ticket for that ihave tool train from thane for vashi as there no train for direct belapur at that time i have alight at vashi for onwards jounery for cbd belapur T/C has check my ticket & told me that i have travelling in wrong direction & i have to alight at sanpada station for onwards jounery for cbd belaur. i convinced that this not my fault that in my ticket nothing has been written that i have to travel via sanpada. T/C has charged me fine for sanpada to vashi Rs. 5 & penalty Rs. 250.00. he touchred me that if i will not pay
          fine he let me to the Police station.
          This matter has been discuss with Mulund Station incharge & vashi incharge also
          they have told us to complaint at DCICSTM

          We had booked online Tickets to Mangalore, and one o[censored]s did not have an ID Proof. We were fined a Penalty of the Ticket Amount and a Fine of travelling without an ID.
          Is this fair ???

          IRCTC India — Water Not available in Sleeper Coach

          Sir,
          I have informed to Gaurd & TTE of Train no 11017 & 11018 ( To & Fro)Chalukya Express Journey dt 11.02.2011 regarding non availibility of water in S2 & S6 Couch.
          Despite of request made to them they informed to Control room, But there is no action taken in next stations.

          Why water facility is neglected ??.

          Or is this way to boost the water bottle sale through onboard vendors.

          Bank Of India — not accepting driving licence as id proof

          dear sir,
          i want to open an account in bank of india, in greater kailash part 2 branch. but they refused to open my account because they want identification proof of delhi state, meanwhile i have my driving lisence as id proof which is from aligarh transport athourity ( UTTAR PRADESH). And i also attached a bonafide letter with all risk and resposibilties taken by my employer with local address, altough my employer also have an account in the same branch of bank of india.
          Sir i cannot undestand why the bank people not accepting my DL as valid ID proof, well its also have government of india seal and it also allowed me drive throughout india, mobile operators provide me connection on same lisence ,in addition to this i also provide bonafide letter from my employer who have years old account in the same branch. i also advice them if they want i will also submit photo identitity card of mine from aligarh.
          sir, i am professional (ENGGINEAR FROM ALIGARH MUSLIM UNVERSITY) and i need this account for my salary transactions , i am unable to go bank on daily basis , please help me out or solve my problem with good reasons, i am very thankful to you.

          we have booked the e-ticket to travel on podhigai express. My husband is in the main passengers list. He carried his laminated driving license(ofcourse its an xerox of his original) and i carried my original passport. The checking squad was so rude, she refused to accept my original passport and fined us an amount 0f 1200(aprox) when we demand an explanation she failed to explain us and the checking happened only in our compartment. When we asked why the hell you people are doing this only in some compartments she just ignored us and left the place. We need to know

          -->what basis she calculated the fine amount.
          --> is the squad's duty is to check all the compartments or not ?

          Of course mistake is with us too, we have to carry the original proof. For our mistake we have paid the fine amount. Who the hell will take care of the squad who failed to check all the passengers?

          We have been travelling in train for so many years, we didnt face such problems the TT will usually accept anyones valid ID

          I had booked a ticket on[protected] through inter net and had used credit card for the payment.(Amount=Rs.309.47)
          On receiving credit card statement, it is found that same amount (i.e. 309.47) is also claimed on[protected].
          I had never booked any ticket on[protected] which can be verified by details of "Booking History". There is no entry on[protected] in the "Booking History" hence it is a duplication of 309.47.
          Please cancel the entry of[protected] and refund duplicated amount.

          IRCTC — DUPLICATE TICKET CHARGES

          I had booked railway ticket (on line) on[protected] and payment of Rs. 309.47 was made through credit card.
          On receiving credit card statement I was shocked to note that same amount (i.e.309.47) is appearing twice, once on[protected] and
          another on[protected] so I contacted credit card dept and brought this duplication to their notice. They replied that railway has
          claimed these money and Railway has to rectify this mistake.
          In support of my claim, I request to go through"Booking of History" which clearly shows booking only on[protected]. This is mistake,
          by Railway and request you to rectify and refund Rs.309.47 at earliest.

          For AC class tickets purchased through counter also, now original ID is compulsory. I showed the duplicate copy of the ID, i.e. Colour xeroxed and laminated card. But squad people refused to accept it. Though the ID is compulsory for only one passenger, they levied fine for all the three passengers shown in the ticket. This is atrocious, inhuman and totally opposed to public interest. Even the airlines are accepting the duplicate copy of the IDs, why not railway officials. Totally unjust behaviour by a Government (Democratic or autocratic) department. Railways will doom soon.

          IRCTC — loss of luggage

          Hi today I booked an Tatkal e-ticket for my father in irctc while booking I gave the Id proof as Voter-Id..Unfortunately I have given the voter id number wrongly .Since my father name is there in the ticket and my father has original Voter-ID with him will TTR accept it?Or he will charge fine? If so how much will be the fine amount?Please someone help me as he is going to travel tommorow.

          IRCTC — charged double the ticket fare

          Dear Sir,
          i booked my e-ticket from bangalore sbc to nagpur for 6th nov 2012 (train no:12295) on 14th sept for rs440 on through my atm cum debit card. but i was charged double i.e 900 rs in all.
          i nees justice as my parents are freaked out of this.
          please suggest me to get my money back.
          during the traveling in train my bag with id card &other documents have stolen . than my e ticket shall treated as without ticket, how to justify my self to TT & how to save from penalty

          I booked tatkal ticket for my mother and aunt (from Vizag to Secundrabad). I used my mother's bank pass books (photo copy) as ID proof while booking the ticket, but while traveling my mother carried her aadhar card as ID proof. In Secundrabad, the ticket collector asked for ID proof and my mother showed her aadhar id as proof, but the ticket collector rejected it and fined double amount.

            IRCTC — LAST REMINDER REGARDING TDR

            Sir,

            This is in reference to the TDR file on 17th feb,2010. The TDR Ref No.is ekt [protected] the refund sought for PNR NO- [protected] vide the refered TDR is still awaited.Even after the period of nine months the refund has not been made which is very deplorable and disappointing considering the modern on line facilities available.The delay shows the lethargic attitude of railways towards its customers

            I once again request you to speed up the matter, failing which I will have no other option but to approach the relevant court of law i.e.consumer court. Hopefully the matter is resolved at the earliest.

              Rules for Waitlisted E tickets passengers

              a) Status of E-tickets after chart preparation

              1. Confirmed E ticket –Wait-listed E- ticket where all passengers are confirmed at the time of charting.
              2. Partially waitlisted/Confirmed/RAC E ticket - Wait-listed E- ticket where some passengers are confirmed/RAC and others are wait-listed at the time of charting.
              3. Fully waitlisted E tickets - Wait-listed E- ticket where all passengers continue to be waitlisted at the time of charting.


              b) Authorization to board the train

              1. Passengers with Confirmed E ticket are permitted to board the train. Their names will appear on the chart.
              2. Names of passengers with Partially Waitlisted /Confirmed/RAC will appear on the chart (including the Waitlisted passengers).
              3. PNRs having Fully waitlisted status will be dropped and names of the passengers will not appear on the chart. They are not allowed to board the train. If full waitlisted passengers are found travelling, they will be treated as without ticket and charged as per extant Railway rules.


              c) Cancellation rules

              1. Confirmed E ticket can be cancelled by passengers through internet before chart preparation only.
              2. Partially waitlisted/Confirmed/RAC E ticket can be cancelled by passengers through internet before chart preparation only.
              3. Fully waitlisted E tickets can be cancelled by passenger using internet before chart preparation. After chart preparation it will be cancelled by Railways and money refunded automatically.


              d) Refund rules

              1. After chart preparation, Refunds for Confirmed/RAC/Partially Waitlisted E ticket will be processed through TDR process. Customer can file TDR online and refund sanctioned by Railways would be credited back to user/agents account.
              2. After chart preparation, Fully waitlisted E ticket will be cancelled by Railways and refund shall be credited to user/agents account automatically.

              I booked an E tkt for my family. One of the passenger"s sex was wrongly indicated. Male instread of female.

              I went to reservtion counter in KR Puram, Indira Nagar and Mayo Hall. They all refused to correct the tkt ont he plea that they have no such arrangements with them.

              irctc railway ticket — IRCTC cheating

              Hi Sir,

              I have booked a ticket from chennai to vizag for 13 oct 2010 and while booking the status is wl 3 & 4.Aftwer the chart preparation the status is confirmed for one passenger and waiting list for other passeneger on one ticket.PNR no is [protected].As they will not allow the waiting lis t passenger we have droopped and filed TDR for the confirmed passenger assuming that the waiting list ticket amnt wil get automatically refunded.But now it didnt happened and when we call the customer care they are saying that the ticket is in partially waiting list and we need to file TDR for both passegers.As we dont know this process we have lossed 1700 without travelling and I need file a forum on this.Please help the customers in this type of cheating.They are cheating and bluffing the customers with this internet reservation.wat abt a lay man who doesnt know this process.

                  Waiting List E-Ticket automatic cancellation

                  Dear Sir/Madam,

                  This compliant is with reference to one of the rules that is being followed in IRCTC for the Waiting List category of E-tickets.

                  When a consumer's E-Ticket booked in IRCTC for a travel in a sceduled train is happened to be on waiting list category at the time of booking and if it status is 'Waiting List' at the time of chart preparation, the E-ticket will get cancelled automatically....

                  I have booked my TDR against my ticket(PNR no. - [protected]) on 10th of October 2009 as the train was late by more than 3 hours. But still I didn't get my refund.
                  No. of times I have send mails and called IRCTC customer care. I got same reply every time that they don't know the exact time of refund.

                  After so many days, lastly today I got one mail from IRCTC, giving excuses as:

                  Dear customer,

                  Sorry for the inconvenience. Kindly note that your refund case of PNR No. [protected] has been forwarded to CCM/NER Railway on dt. 22-oct-2009. Refund yet not received from concerned railway, so we are sending a reminder with all the papers pertaining to your refund case to concerned railway on dt.17.02.10 to chase up the cases. As soon as refund, if any, received it will be credited to your card account.

                  I couldn't understand,what are the processes that IRCTC is doing that takes too much of time?
                  Nobody is there who really can take care for all these happenings?
                  Or, IRCTC wants to earn more and more interest from customers money?

                    IRCTC on line reservation — money deducted without reservation done

                    I was trying to book ticket (from pipariya to ujjain ) through IRCTC ON LINE BOOKING on 9/01/2012 and 11/01/2012 Both time mony deducted from my debit card , without successful booking of ticket.

                    Detail of both transaction.

                    (1) On 09/01/2012 mony deducted from my PNB debit card rs.492/- at 07:06:02. .I already complain to bank help line and they reply that this problem is from IRCTC.(from pipariya to ujjain)

                    (2) Today once again i use IRCTC on line reservation facility to book ticket (from ujjain to vadodara), and this time also my mony deducted from SBI debit card without successful transaction. Txn NO.[protected] on 11/01/2012 Rs.554.

On 17th feb,2010 I (KAILASH BANSAL)and my wife(SUNITA BANSAL) was travelling by train PASCHIM EXPRESS NO.2925 FROM NAVSARI TO AMRITSAR JN. PNR NO.[protected] ,COACH NO.B1 ,SEAT NO. 47,48.
                      COMPLAINT: WE REQUESTED 5 TIMES TO THE EMPLOYEES FOR A KETTLE OF TEA BUT THEY DID NOT GAVE US THE SAME AND AFTER COMPLAINING THE MANAGER OF PENTRY CAR HE DID NOT TOOK ANY ACTION AND ALSO DENIES TO GIVE US THE COMPLAINT BOOK OF RAILWAYS.

                        I had booked a ticket for a journey from Lokmanya Terminus to Chiplun by Matsaygandha Expresee dated 12/02/2010 through IRCTC.

                        There were 4 available seats in 2nd AC. As 5 of my family members were travelling the 4 of the seats were confirmed and the 5th was wait listed as WL5.

                        I had a query regarding why the 5th person was wait listed as 5 and not 1 or RAC, I called up the IRCTC chennai helpline (as no one was picking the call on the delhi helpline, the phone was just ringing).

                        The customer care executive wasent even bothered to listen to my query and constantly kept repeating "call 139". I even tried telling him that there was no way i can get this query answered through 139, but all my efforts in trying to even talk were in vain. There was no answer to my query till the end.

                        It was an unexpected and pathetic service experienced.

                        I would not recommend this service to anyone else from now on which i used to do before

                            I have booked ticket on 08.04.2012 to chennai to Rajahmundry in circar express train, the ticket was suspended with out PNR number and the amount of Rs.267.00 was deducted from my Debit card and debited in my account. till date i waited for credit of amount but not done by irctc, contacted our bank not responded and say they don"t know any thing about.                               Booking second AC tickets through IRCTC is fine. But every time when we book, ( a group of 3 with senior citizens), we end up ahving only one side-lower and rest upper berths.
                              Though we book months in advance, the berths in Kacheguda Bangalore express is always not available.

                              But RAC booking passengers get nice lower berths. This ahp happened several times.

                              Looks like the reserved quota for VIPs and railway staff take up most of the berths. And once it is released just before the departure , the lower berths are allotted to late comers(RACs).

                              This causes much heartburn.

                              Why can't we have " option for lower berths , if available" too?

                              Why cant the government quota be allotted in Upper berths, so as not to inconvenience the paying public and senior citizens?

                              BERTH ALLOTMENT COMPLAINT — BY PASS IN ALLOTMENT OF RAC

                              MY BROTHER MR. & MRS.PARDEEP KUMAR DHINGRA DOING JOURNEY IN TRAIN NO.2415 TODAY 01.08.2009 PNR NO.[protected] FROM INDORE TO NZM AND HAVING WL-37, 38 ON THE TIME OF BOOKING AND THEN RAC 71 IN COACH NO.RAS-8, BUT TTE HAS ALLOTED A BERTH TO OTHER PERSON BY BYPASSING WHOSE PNR NUMBER IS[protected] IN THE SAME COACH . IS IT FARE IN INDIAN RAILWAY.
                              it is perfectly right. I also have same experience.
                              In fact, even after having confirm birth in 2nd a.c., we were sitting 3 person per seat because nearby births were RAC.
                              Then what is the benefit of booking in 2nd a.c...
                              I would be demanding difference refund.

                                train no. 6530, journey date 07/10/09 pnr no. [protected]. already filed a TDR but still not received any refund or proper status. They are taking advantage of peoples money coz its government site and we cant do anything against them. enjoying crores of money for free

                                E-ticket — Refund not received even after 4 months

                                still didnt received my refund,I contacted many times to customer care but they didnt give me any satisfactory reply,I wanted to open eyes of heigher authorities,Please help.

                                  First of all want to share that IRCTC has a very faulty system doesn't give smooth transaction at all, as far as my experience with this is concerned. Most of the time we want to do transaction through it we find failed transaction for which they deduct money from our a/c and find a very cumbersome process to get back our own money.
                                  This 3rd of Feb 2010 I tried to purchase ticket through IRCTC, I tried three times and both the transactions were failed one. The Transaction IDs are [protected], [protected], [protected] and for that they have deducted a sum of Rs. 526, Rs. 549 and Rs. 549 respectively. On 4th of Feb-10 I succeed to purchase my ticket. Although IRCTC has refunded my money (I had tried with my SBI Debit Card) for the 2nd & 3rd Transaction IDs but keeping mum or giving superfluous reply for the 1st one. Whatever they have asked like scan copy of my statement I have given to them twice but still they are not giving proper and specific answer to me. As a nodal boy I am asking your kind support for justice to get rid of this faulty system of IRCTC. I have some restless e-mail communication with IRCTC in this regard and can sent you if you deseired in future to prove my stand.

                                  Hi,
                                  I am a frequent traveller through IRCTC. I recently went to pick my mother (Pnr #[protected] from the Secunderabad(South Central railway station) there was Platform ticket machine which was not working and the queues was so long for tickets as matter o[censored]rgency because of luggage i need to go to the platform directly there without ticket. I showed my mothers ticket at the exit the lady asked me to pay bribe of 100rs to leave us i explained the problem and told her the machine was not working and she was arguing telling me thats not my problem then she wrote a challan for 260rs. The challan Ticket number 291109. The reason for challan is written as i have travelled from LPT to SC through MMTS which was not the case reason stated as TWOT. Please advise and take actions in this scenario what should we do.

                                    i have book two tickets in different train on same date with my familyfrom bhopal to kopargaon .i face problem that one seat confirm in each train.one in AC (pune special exp) & other in sleeper class(sleeper class).both confirm ticket in my name.so that time i have taken decision & with my afforts i get 1no seat in 2Ac in jhelum express for that i paid 800 Rs, in which i have sleeper ticket on jhelum express.my wife move in 2Ac & i moves in sleeper class in same train which is said.
                                    After that i file TDR, No message is delivered by railways in my mail id, when i see the filed TDR report on 9.6.2010 that time i know that my TDR request is Regreted by CCM .
                                    so i want to know that how 1 person travel in two train ?

                                    trans id- [protected] & PNR NO-[protected] date 10-Apr-2009.
                                    can any railway person will justify this query.
