Sub.: Parangipettai (PO) Railway Station Needs To Be Revived

Parangipettai, historically called Porto Novo ("New Port" in Portuguese) an important and a big town in Cuddalore District, Tamilnadu, has played a major role in the pride of our nation’s history. Now the basic rights being taken away, the town will be again known for its bitterness or hostility in the proud history of Tamilnadu and the Nation at large.

Parangipettai Railway station is in Cuddalore district making it an important and primary railway station in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Around 8 trains pass through Parangipettai railway station.

Parangipettai railway station code is (PO). Parangipettai railway station is well connected with the entire city through easy conveyance options. As part of one of the busiest and populated Indian states, Tamil Nadu, the Parangipettai railway station is known amongst the top hundred train ticket booking and train traveling stations of the Indian Railway. The total number of trains that pass through Parangipettai (PO) is 60.

The Parangipettai (PO) railway station, graded as NSG 6, is more income generating station than all other age-old nearby stations. As per RTI report, the total annual revenue of Parangipettai Railway Station from eight passenger trains (Nos. 56513, 56514, 56873, 56874, 56875, 56876, 56877 & 56878) according to Southern Railway[protected] comes around 10 Lakhs per year. But, the annual income of Puthuchathiram (PUC) is around only one Lakh or something. Alappakkam (ALP) around only 2 Lakhs or something and Kille (KLL) around only 4 Lakhs or something (copy enclosed).

From this it is clear that the highest income is from our big town, Parangipettai (PO). The peoples of Parangipettai have been fighting for their basic rights, like the Platforms to be raised for improved facilities and the express trains to be halted in the said stations.
At the same time, in Puthuchathiram (PUC) a private thermal power plant is given more importance with improved platform facilities and the four gauges better renovated by the Southern Railway. Compared to Parangipettai (PO), the annual revenue is much much less.

The grievances of the people of around 50 villages surrounding Parangipettai (PO) railway station are kindly addressed in the form of application, herewith to the relevant departments concerned.
The grievances stated here below:

1. The express / mail / super-fast trains (as listed below*) should be made to halt in this station as it was before the introduction of the broad-gauge line like these trains stopping at the Chidambaram (CDM) railway station. Although not all trains, at least daily trains should be stopped.

2. The railway platform should be elevated and extended too length wise.

3. The reservation counter that was functioning earlier should resume its function.

4. The electric lamps should be repaired.

5. The RailTel internet service should be available to the public.

6. The basic amenities like drinking water, rest rooms and waiting hall have to be made.

7. The Railway timetable and information sign board are necessary for regular passengers with other facilities like automatic ticket vending machines, ATM machines, information kiosks, LCD screens, internet cafes and TV advertising panels.

8. In order to prevent possible crimes and illegal activities the CCTV cameras have to be fixed wherever necessary.

9. The places around the station are to be maintained properly. The unnecessary bushes in the vicinity should be cleared off.

10. Considering the overall safety of the passengers, there must be an Iron fencing around the station.

11. The main paths / roads leading to the station are to be maintained properly from time to time.

12. The station’s new building, now in a worst condition should be restored back to its proper use or normal functioning.

13. Permanent railway employees should be appointed.

14. The old double / triple track system existed before the construction of the broad-gauge railway line can be reintroduced.

15. The housing quarters of the employees could be constructed close to the station.

16. If the east coast services are to be commenced, due importance must be given to Parangipettai (PO) railway station.

The old removed schemes have to restored back because the schemes were removed without the consent of the general public.

We have been struggling hard for years to redeem the lost schemes for the welfare of the general public. Therefore, we believe that our just grievances will be heard by the railway authorities and subsequent actions will be taken at the earliest possible.

On behalf of the thousands of travelers who use the trains every day, I hope you and your government will consider this request o[censored]s. I would therefore request your kind intervention to take necessary action in this regard.

      My house is about 15 meters away from the railway tracks. And the train frequency in this region is very high. I do not have issues with the train noise made due to the trains traveling, and I was aware of the fact while purchasing my house.

      However, when these trains start honking, it's a nightmare. Honking has gone up recently and goes on throughout the day.

      I have considered my options, like soundproofing my rooms, but then, my house is open on 3 and a half sides. Soundproofing would cut out ventilation completely. And if I keep any window open, train horn sounds would be severe. To add to my woes, I need to work from home and have 4-5 hours of calls...

      Now wondering if there is any authority I can approach to, to lower/reduce Train honking in this residential area...

            PNR No: [protected]; Train : 02368: Date of journey: 21.12.20; From ANVT to BGP; Class :Sleeper P1-S4, 17.
            The ticket was booked on General quota for our maid going to Bhagalpur. Her age was 45 years. The TC forcibly made another ticket and took 800 Rs from illiterate woman on grounds that senior citizen concession has been taken. The female senior citizen age is 58 year but he said its 45 years. Strict action should be taken against such corrupt TC's who loot innocent passengers.

                  I have booked 2 tickets in advance as per my plan and got confirmed tickets. But after a month I got messages that your train timings is changed. Now, I don't want to travel anymore with changed timings. I had a conversation with IRCTC and they said if you cancel then cancelation charges will apply.

                  Why am I paying cancelation charges here ? This is not citizen fault. Indian railways should refund full amount. They should understand citizen hard earned money. I am a tax payer and goverment should not deny this.

                    Catering stall no. 9 on platform 1 in Vishakapatnam station is charging ₹20 for a 1 litre bottle of water. When complained they did not lower the price.

                      I booked one bike and 3 household items on[protected] with PRR No [protected] from visakhapatnam to New Tinsukia My bike was delivered but my household items are not delivered but even I didn't know where they are, Sir can you Please Send my household items as soon as possible we are nothing to have all our needs are kept in that Parcel .

                        While coming to book tatkal ticket we are waiting from 2 am infront of counter. We are being the first person but we didn't get tickets due to some mediators... That mediator system is closed recently but here still continue the same process... In Ipm station we currently facing issues

                            PNR no. is [protected] and transaction id is and date of journey is 06-Dec-2020. I have booked a tatkal ticket from Katihar to Jaunpur vide train no.09306 (2 AC 3 tier) but the ticket got cancelled by mistake during our process of checking status. However we booked another ticket again but money has gone, Kindly arrange a refund against the same booking cancellation so that we do not suffer the financial loss for such unwanted mistakes. please look into the matter seriously.

                              Sir, Mr. Satish rohilla is a TTE of Indian railways and I'm travelling to NZM to UMB 02925 Pashchim express on 19 Nov 2020.his behaviour is very rudeness, no talking sense with family, man handling and showing the locality in train, his ego and attitude is very bad to us, he is not having manners to talk with passengers travelling with family
                              He using abusive languages, trying asking for money and making various excuses to change his statement, he lies by statement...

                                I like to bring to your kind notice that I am 80 years old senior citizen. On 21st oct 2020 I travelled from PASCHIM EXP SPL, PNR [protected], from UMB to BDTS. Due to old age it is very difficult for me to walk even for small distance. I need assistance and a wheelchair both. I feel proud to mention that our Ambala station (UMB) is among the top busiest and populated station in India. During this journey I felt bad to see that there are only 2 wheelchairs available at Ambala station (UMB) and both were broken. We hold great respect for Indian railways and such kind of management is not expected.

                                Kindly look into the same and do the needful.

                                  I had booked my parcel (Bike) on 07 November, 2020 from Ernakulum to Visakhapatnam (Parcel No.529078). Am supposed to receive my parcel on 09 November, 2020 but till date I have not received my Parcel.

                                  I inquired in Ernakulam parcel office, they informed me that my parcel had moved from Ernakulum on 07 November 2020 by Train No-02641.

                                  I have also inquired at Visakhapatnam Parcel Office several times but the Parcel Officer is not taking any responsibility/serious action against it.

                                  Since last 3 days am going to railway station daily to inquire about my parcel but there no luck. Since there is no way to Track these shipment, it’s been a big trouble for all the people to run behind railway staff for help.

                                  Kindly look in to this and do the needful to get my parcel at the earliest and without any further delay. I would be very much thankful for your kind co-operation

                                        I have reached out to railway ticket counter in Burdwan. They said it can't be refunded

                                        Kindly look into this and get me refund same.
