Hello All
Just thought of sharing a bad experience I had with Jet Airways and their baggage support team.
I was travelling from London to Bangalore via Mumbai on 16th Feb 2014. During transit in Mumbai on 17th Feb, one of my cabin bag was checked in by Jet Airways staff. Not only this, but no tag was attached by them. When asked, the staff said "do not worry, your bag will be safe". On reaching Bangalore, this particular bag was missing. I spoke to Jetairways staff in Bangalore and provided my contact details. The promised me that the bag will be sent to my address.
No news from them since then. I used to call baggage support team daily and they used to tell "we have not got any news from airport". When asked for compensation, one of the staff at Baggage support started speaking rude.
After one week (24 Feb 2014), I sent an email to Mis handled baggage team. Since then, I have been sending emails to them for an update and hardly I used to get a generic response saying, "we are still searching for your bag".
On 1st April I received an email saying since the bag was not found for 14 days after it was missing. it will be declared as "lost" and since the bag was not tagged, no compensation can be given. It has to be noticed that the bag was missing since 17th Feb, I gave a complaint on 24th Feb to MHB. So the 14 days will be completed on 10 March. However, the response I received was on 1st April after several reminders.
As a reponse to the email on 1st April, I sent the following questions to clarify and they are not willing to send a response. Even the management is avoiding to respond to these questions.
1. Why it has taken so long to respond when the search has been completed in 14 days of reporting ? i.e it was reported on 24th Feb 2014.
2. Why the bag was not tagged by Jet airways when the bag was being checked in?
3. Why Jet airways is not responsible for the missing bag when the bag was mistakenly checked in by them and not tagged as well ?
4. Why Jet airways cannot provide a compensation though the mistake was by Jet airways staff by mistakenly checking in the bag and assuring me that "the bag will be safe" ?
So, my advise to all of you to be very careful while flying with Jet airways. If something goes wrong, they will not take any responsibility.

However, if I do not get a pleasing responses to the above questions and a suitable compensation for the lost bag and for the hard times I had to go through to get my bag searched, I will have to think of sharing this with my colleagues and my organisation. I hope Jet airways will not create a situation for me to do this.

During this period we send tracer emails to all destinations as the bag could be erroneously tagged to wrong destinations. Respective airports then check all the baggage areas i.e Tagless bag room, unclaimed bag room, Custom ware house etc. We also check for matching bags held with other airlines.
As Jet Airways has a wide network covering numerous destinations, completing the above activities could take up to 14 days from the date when the lost baggage report is filed with us.

I traveled in Jet airways on 17th Feb 2014 from Mumbai to Bangalore at 03:00. My cabin baggage was checked in by Jet airways representatives without attaching a tag to it. I had brought this to their notice. However, they promised that the bag will be safe.
Now, that bag is missing and I had given a complaint on the same day to Aju in Bangalore. Till now the bag is not found and I have been calling Jet airways baggage support number to get an update on this. It's been more than 7 days now since the bag had gone missing and I am not getting any update on what is going to happen next.
Could you please speed up the search for my bag and send to my address. Otherwise, I need a compensation. My bag details are given below.
1. Black colored trolley (with wheels)
2. Brand new suit case
3. Size - Cabin luggage size
4. Contents - Cloths. Couple of pairs of socks in outer pocket.
5. No tags as it was supposed to be a cabin bag
My number is 8#####8. Please provide me a positive response ASAP.
