On 8th Feb, 3:50pm I was passing through KM34.624 in NH16. (Monguli plaza). My fastag was recognised with a wrong vehicle no (as I was told). Therefore I was asked to pay by cash with a double penalty. After the payment I got a sms from bank that amount has been debited. It means I paid three times of the actual amount. Spoke to my bank (ICICI), as understood, they will just refund the amount what has been deducted from my bank. Could you please let me know how to get the refund of penalty which was not my fault?
Second, it is quite disheartening whilst trying to reach you through phone. Third, spoke to few friends they have same experience, meaning they have been penalised without their fault and they do not know whom to complaint and how to get refund because they don’t know English/Hindi.
Third, it looks NHAI do not have appropriate policy on such issue or don’t have control in the tollgate. The reason is, for the same trip if one has been charged twice, just wondering how have they accounted?
Fourth, i will seek such information through RTI, make it public how tollgate is looting the public.
Fifth, I am sure i will take this issue through legal channel if found a system failure and the policy did not have process to address it which has resulted many and many lost though penalty.
Sixth, my file size is 3mb, but it does not let me upload- another proof how NHAI is so callous about the public grievance.
Seventh, in this portal there is no such column I can provide my email or phone no. It means NHAI is least bothered to contact me. It is a oneway communication. Still I provide my email I’d hoping someone may respond at [protected]@gmail.com
