Rightly said. The NH34 has been in this poor condition for a long time. It serves as an important connection from Kolkata to Northeast. The terrible condition of the road in almost 70-75% of the entire stretch has been same for years now. They might have done some patch work here & there but nonetheless those are all eyewash as after a couple of heavy showers the road surface peels off.

The political parties are so damn busy playing blame games that they forget about common ppl for whom they are sitting at helm. We should be aware enough now to vote the correct ppl, so that these guys don't take common ppl for granted.

They charge roadtax when you purchase a vehicle but the tax amount goes into their weekend drinks nd food.

Sir, to add to this distress I would like to even add few more issues. These so called NH 34 and NH 31 do have some toll tax points to maintain those 4 lane roads that have been made for a stretch of few 100 kms. But since the time the stretch has been opened to use, it has never been repaired and potholes are like designed Polka dots on a stretch smooth clothes resulting to heavy damage of speeding vehicles and fatal accidents for 2 wheelers. NH 31 which connects Raiganj to Siliguri is like a dream to achieve even for gods to fulfill. I was born and since the time I have gained my sense and till the time today I have covered a span of 35 years.. and trust me I have seen potholes turning into craters but never this roads have been made. For last 10 years we have seen NHAI have taken initiative to build the roads but they are working as if they have a snail to beat. Raiganj to Siliguri is just 180kms. And half of that is already in structure still how long they have to linger to make it fully functional. And here it doesnt end. There is a place called Dalkhola which comes in between. It has been planned to bypass that place using a flyover as the Dalkhola junction is very busy and the current road goes through the town creating havoc jam which eases even sometimes after one single day. This place is a horror for every traveller. And whenever we travel we pray to god so that we dont have to face the jam out there. The flyover out there is under construction for more than a decade now. I dont understand why it has been stopped midway.. is it a bermuda triangle that the flyover can not be made out there? Sir, people of North bengal have this NH31 and NH34 which connects north bengal to south bengal. If this road becomes functional with wide roads and smooth one, then it will be a blessing for us. Please kindly consider this stretch of road connecting Siliguri to Kolkata as a top priority.

The road condition from Raiganj to purnia more has been impassable.Though NHAI has been working on Dalkhola bypass but the proberb slow and steady wins the race doesn't suit here.NH 34, 31, 57 known as Atal bihari vajpayee's road by locals it got massive improve ment during his time .There is a toll plaza at surjapur, we have obey our duties by giving the tax for maitanance.Jam of Dalkhola and krishnagar is a nightmare for common people then what would be the condition happen with patients and their families? Drivers and conductors of night service feel reluctant to stop more than one time for toilet as the bus would stuck in jam. I was stuck at Dalkhola jam for long 8hours with a kid .please take initiative to execute the planned 4lane project as early as possible and keep maintanance also.
