My name is Urvish Patel. I bought a Mediclaim on 6th June, 2015. My Customer ID in Max Bupa Health insurance is [protected]. I continued renew it till June, 2019, So My and my family member’s health was completely insured since June, 2020. In this policy Maternity benefit was included.
I got a call from Mr. Siddharth, Employee of Star health insurance from Mobile number [protected] on my mobile number [protected]. This call received on 25th May, 2020 at 11:49AM. He offered me to portable my health policy from Max Bupa health Insurance to Star health insurance and also offered me that If you are more than three year old customer of Max Bupa than you will also be more than three year old customer of Star Health. I talked to him for 5 minutes 10 seconds. I told him about the pregnancy of my wife. My words were “ My wife is pregnant and fourth month is running. “ I told him clearly I want this policy for Maternity benefits and my new born baby which would be also include in the policy.
In the call when I was telling him about my wife’s pregnancy, he didn’t speak any word that this year your maternity benefits were not included and all. When I called him on 2nd Nov, 2020 for asking the procedure for claim but didn’t get any satisfactory answer So I called Star Health customer care number [protected] on the same day at 01:18 PM. From Customer care I got the news that Maternity benefits would not include in my plan So I called Mr. Siddharth and he told me to check and revert back. I was manipulated by company.
After this I mailed Company and grievience department of company and also converse with Mr. Binoy Tiwari ( Whose name is on my policy). But I didn’t get any solution from Grievance. After this I complained all the things to IRDA. All the details of IRDA Complaint number and Grievance is as below. All the time Company grievance department mailed me that Maternity benefit is not included in policy till 2 years but they were failed to answer me my 2 questions and repeat recorded tape. I want answer below 2 questions.
1. Why shouldn’t company employee denied me to portable my policy from Max Bupa to Star health when I informed him that my wife was pregnant and 4th month was running?
2. Company mailed me that if you are more than 3 year old customer of Max Bupa than after portable you in Star Health you would be 3 year old customer of Star health also. If Star health provides maternity benefits to its 3 year old customer then why should it deny me to give maternity benefits?

I sent these all the things to Ombudsman of Insurance. They replied me that this is not include in the rulebook of them. Means I think that every insurance company can make fool customer and Ombudsman take their rule book. I attached the answer of Ombudsman also.

    I had taken helath insurance from Star. My wife fall down at the time of refiling water at home and admitted in hospital for treatment. We had taken treatment and submitted all original documents to Star, But after taking 03 months to observe the documents they had rejected the claim and saying that you have old disease and this is not due to fall down.

      Good day to all,
      FULL HISTORY OF MAIL COMMUNICATION TILL DATE – 14/01/2021.
      With reference to the CLAIM INTIMATION NUMBER CLI/2021/181122/0004224 OF MRS. VEENA V NAIR, CARD NUMBER[protected] as well as the Ticket id # 118911. ticket i.d # 231518, Ticket i.d # 362128. Date & Time of Admission : 05/04/2020, hereby bring you the recap of my mail STARTING FROM 11TH APRIL 2020 TILL DATE for the claim of amount Rupees SIX THOUSAND TWO HUNDRED AND TWELVE RUPEES. Even though after paying the huge amount to renew the policy every year, when it comes to the claim there is no proper response from anyone of the Star Health Insurance. For the above mentioned claim amount since last 9 months I am following up but there is no any solution given by anyone from the Star Health Insurance.
      Please find below the recap of my Mail communication, communicated to Star Health insurance.
      On 11th April, 2020 at 21:12 hrs, I, forwarded all the documents via Email.
      On 11th April, 2020 at 22:12 hrs, informed via email that all the documents pertaining to the claim will be couriered to your office as and when the lockdown is withdrawn and the courier office is opened.
      On 12th May, 2020, all the documents pertaining to the claim was couriered to your office via DTDC and the same was delivered to your office on 15th May 2020 (Tracking number of DTDC is D[protected].

      On 02nd June 2020 at 20:43, Tracking receipt of DTDC courier was forwarded to your office via email and requested to know the update of my claim.

      On 02nd June 2020 at 20:44 hrs Self wrote a mail enquiring about my claim status as well as to know the follow up of ticket number ##118911##. Received back the same ticket (##118911##.) number from the system generated mail.

      On 03rd June 2020 at 13:40 hrs Self wrote a mail enquiring about my claim status as well as to know the follow up of ticket number ##118911##. Received back the same ticket (##118911##.) number from the system generated mail

      On 03rd June 2020 at 13:46 hrs, Received reply form the [protected]@starhealth.in informing that [quote of the mail received] “To submit Reimbursement Claim documents along with claim form, kindly send us the scan copy to the below mail ID For Retail Reimbursement- Claims.[protected]@starhealth.biz Claims will be processed and Payment will released on receipt of original hard copy of claim documents at our Zonal/Corporate claims office. This arrangement is in view of COVID-19 lock-down.” [unquote of the mail received].

      On 03rd June 2020 at 14:01 hrs with reference to the mail received from the support, all the soft copy of the documents pertaining to my claim was once again forwarded to Claims.[protected]@starhealth.biz.

      On 03rd June 2020 at 14:02 hrs Received one more new ticket number ##231518##.

      On 04th June 2020 at 12:38 hrs received reply from the [protected]@starhealth.in stating that [quote of the mail received] “Dear Sir/Madam, As per the POD given the document in is Transit. On the receive of the documents received claim will be process as per the policy norms. [unquote of the mail received].

      On 23rd June 2020 at 10:06 hrs Self wrote mail asking for any update with regards to my claim.

      On 24th June 2020 at 17:34 hrs Self wrote a mail enquiring about my claim status as well as to know the follow up of ticket number ##231518##.

      After repeated Mail communication received two ticket, number received on at 23rd July 2020 at 10:06 hrs received ticket # 362128 and on 23rd July 2020 at 10:07 hrs received one more ticket # 118911.

      In the month of August my wife contacted my previous agent (agent I.D # BA[protected]) pertaining to know the claim status, but for which his behavior was not good and he was very rude with my wife stating that to know the claim status we need to get in touch with the customer care and not to call and disturb him and he hang up the call.

      Waited until December hoping that the Star Health will process my claim but until 15th December 2020 there was no any update from the Start Health as well as from the Agent (agent I.D # BA[protected]).

      Since the behavior of the Agent (agent I.D # BA[protected]) was not good wrote a mail on 15th December 2020 at 2015 hrs requesting for change in the agent accordingly I received ticket # 787388 on 15th December 2020 at 2016 hrs. When it came for the renewal of the policy because I need to pay money for renewal, so The Start Health took fast action and changed my agent and the ticket # 787388 was closed on 22nd December 2020 at 11:05. (Rapid action by the Start Health to receive money from me to renew the policy).

      BUT NOW LET ME ASK YOU WHAT IS YOUR UPDATE PERTAINING TO MY CLAIM WHICH I INITIATED ON 11TH APRIL, 2020 AT 21:12 AND ITS STILL GOING ON. SO YOUR CUSTOMER SERVICE IS ONLY IN GETTING THE MONEY FROM THE CUSTOMER TO JOIN AND RENEW THE POLICY AND NOT IN SETTLING THE CLAIM MONEY RIGHT.

      However, on 26 Dec 2020 at 0932 hrs I wrote another mail asking for the update in that mail once again I attached the entire document pertaining to my claim.

      Accordingly on 28 Dec 2020 at 1253 hrs I received mail from [protected]@starhealth.in stating that [quote of the mail received] We acknowledge the receipt of your mail. This is to inform you that your mail has been sent to our Respective Team to trace the claim documents & we will update the status as soon as possible. Thank you, assuring best services all the time. [unquote of the mail received].

      BUT TILL DATE THERE IS NO ANY UPDATE FROM ANY ONE OF THE STAR HEALTH

      Since I was not getting any reply from anyone on 28th December 2020, I attached all my documents in the STAR HEALTH APP under Claim Type – Reimbursement. Hoping that my documents will be processed.

      Accordingly, on 29th December 2020 I got the automatic system generated mail of confirmation of my documents attached in the STAR HEALTH APP under Claim Type – Reimbursement from claims.[protected]@starhealth.biz

      On 02nd January 2021 at 1355 hrs I, wrote one more mail asking for the update but no reply from any one till date.

      On 06th January 2021 at 13:19 hrs received a mail from [protected]@starhealth.in informing that my ticket # 118911 is closed, how come you can close a ticket without any respond.

      On 6 Jan 2021 at 13:57 – wrote reminder mail to [protected]@starhealth.in, Claims.[protected]@starhealth.biz, claims.[protected]@starhealth.biz, claims.[protected]@starhealth.in, [protected]@starhealth.in, [protected]@starhealth.in – BUT NO REPLY FROM ANY ONE.

      7 Jan 2021 at 14:42 – wrote reminder mail to [protected]@starhealth.in - – BUT NO REPLY

      8 Jan 2021 at 13:40 – wrote reminder mail to [protected]@starhealth.in, Claims.[protected]@starhealth.biz, claims.[protected]@starhealth.biz, claims.[protected]@starhealth.in, [protected]@starhealth.in, [protected]@starhealth.in – BUT NO REPLY FROM ANY ONE.

        Non payment of claims for Dialysis (Day care procedure)

          They didnt reply at all from the beginning, when we submitted them all our original details in the month of june, they suddenly started to reply us from the end of september wanting again original papers which we already have submitted, they continously harassed us until 18th of november, but when i asked them why it took so long to approved the same, they didnt reply, they told we don't have adequate balance in our insurance policy claim, but we already renewed our policy on 10/03/2020, and the policy holder and my husband also expired on 27/03/2020. Still they also turned a deaf ear towards us, and finally they settle the claim of 1, 18, 340 by giving us a meagre sum of 1446 inr, against the claim, we also mailed them this issue they didn't reply any of them positively. I am just a widow how will i stand against them and that's why we demand justice and compensation from them for harassing us continously for 5 months.

            Hi Team,
            I am surpised to see a mail from start health insurance team stating my claim is rejected. stating that insured patient's vital signs are stable throughout the period of hospitalization. I request the team to check the discharge summary clearly which states Patient presented with temperature since 6 days & vomiting, weakness since 2 days, cough since a day. we were in home quarantine for a week and the symptoms are getting increased due to which the doctor suggest to get admitted.

                Very very poor health insurance company
                Because i admitted in hospital for 7 days first day doctor asked me to do operation, so i have this insurance then i applied i got approval on 2 days later, when i take insurance they told me, on day we will approve but very delay. Also 2 days i spent nearly 10 thousand, finally at the at the time of discharge they told you can get back, at that time total amount is Rs42000 thousand they only approve for me is 32000. The 10000 i spent is all calculated inside and the hospital told us they approve only 32000. I think the insurance company and hospital are doing some wrong understanding for them. It is one of the worst insurance company

                      Dear Sir

                      While opting for a Health Insurance Policy via PNB Branch, I did a NEFT transfer of Rs. 17995 from my SBI account number #######6322 to United bank of India corporate Bank account Number #########4395 on 06th of July 2020. It was not the correct way of fund transfer as the amount was supposed to be transferred from PNB to PNB or PNB to UBI for availing the Group Health Insurance policy-PNB Gold. It was later brought to my knowledge and I have been requesting again and again for refund of the amount as that fund has not been used to avail the Policy however there has been no progress or initiative for refund. I am losing my patience now as I am not only having my funds locked but also losing interest on that. Kindly take proper initiative and refund the amount mentioned.                         Dear Sir,
                        As per my insurance policy I can claim the day-care bills. For that before submitting I have confirmed. But since 1 month over nothing has come in hand . Every time new person mail or call .They are sending me the form which usually submit by the person who admitted as in patient.
                        I have clearly asked ..but nobody giving proper information.
                        I am fed up with this policy. when they cannot settle a small bill. How can one expect other big thing.
                        Please somebody listen. Also please tell me how to migrate from existing company to new company Just took a snapshot showing the no. of mails exchange for no use.

                          I am writing this regarding our Mediclaim policy namely "Family Health Optima Insurance-2017", the reference number of which is P/191138/2021/000968. We are associated with the company since February 2016. However, we never raised a claim against our policy until the month of July 2020 when my dad was hospitalized due to viral fever. I admitted him to a local Non-COVID hospital which is one of their network hospital on 5th July 2020 and the same was duly intimated to the insurance company within 24hrs of admission on 6th July 2020 vide intimation number CLI/2021/191138/0144711.We had requested for his cashless treatment because as per the policy, it was eligible for complete cashless treatment with claim number CLMG/2021/191138/0144534. Please note that there was an error on the part of the hospital to mention the admission the admission date as 04th July 2020 which actually was 5th July 2020. But the papers clearly mentioned the admission date as 5th. Hence we understand that the same be overlooked. In order to get the claim processed, the hospital authorities duly submitted all the required papers to the company on 07/07/2020 but the claim was rejected by Star on account of a baseless and stupid reason that the eligibility claim needs to be further analysed by them and requested us to file a reimbursement claim. Later on, we got to know that my dad was Covid positive and that he required immediate treatment as his health was deteriorating and he was facing difficulty in breathing. Hence, we were as suggested by the hospital authorities to transfer him to a COVID hospital where he would get proper treatment and medications. However we were not getting beds anywhere. Hence, after continuous efforts of around 2-3 days we got one and immediately transferred him to a renowned COVID hospital from the earlier hospital on 11th July 2020 regarding which the insurance company was intimated vide number CLI/2021/191138/0159796. Now, he got the discharge from this hospital on 28th July'2020 after he was declared stable by the doctors. We thereafter filed a reimbursement claim for the hospital expenses with all the original reports and hospital documents nad bills. Later, after 1 month, we were queried for the Internal case papers of my dad which were submitted online within time. But we kept on receiving email reminders for submission of query documents despite being already submitted online. Further, we even submitted the hard copies of the ICP requested to the office on 16th September 2020. Thereafter, to our surprise, we received the claim rejection email on 16th October for non submission of documents despite submitting all the proper documents. On contacting the customer care we have been informed that the claim has not been rejected an the mail was a system generated mail. So my question is..is this the way the company treats its genuine customers and deal with insured? You have always been paid the premiums on time and now it is your duty to complete your promises.

                          And a suggestion: Please stop making false claims to the people and fool them. They is not going to help you in anyway. You wont be able to reach heights cheating us..and stealing hard earned money of citizens.

                            I undergone knee replacement surgery of total package 500000/- from max hospital. I had two policy one from United India insurance co, they paid 300000/- cashless to the hospital asper my policy amount was 300000/-.second policy was from star insurance company.i filed claim for balance amount of 200000/-.But I received rs 100000/- from star while 100000/- was denied on flimsy ground.for balance 100000/- amount I filed complaint with consumer redressal forum. The star taken a plea that once I receive the amount in my account .I can not file complaint for revival.please let me know if any ruling is there.

                              I had a health policy from star health (Policy no. P/700004/01/2020/000358). My son was admitted to hospital in muzaffarnagar, u. P. For few days because of stomach pain. The hospital denied to give cash less facility and after few days when my son discharged, he paid around 25000 rs cash. He submitted all necessary documents to star health office, they sent him many times to hospital for more and more documents. Finally after few months of discharge i got sms that your claim is cleared and 14000 rs will be transferred to your account.
                              My points are: 1) why the prescribed hospitals dont give cashless treatment and patients have to go many times to hospitals for docs and 2) if he paid 25000 rs to hospital then why only 14000 rs reimbursed? If star health think that the bills are fake then why 14000 reimbursed? Such health policy companies are making money from their customers. This is really frustrating.
                              I want full of my money back which i paid at the hospital and the money which i paid to the company as premium.

                              I request you kindly to look into the matter and save us from being harassed from such companies.

I not buy any insurance on my card but r shield insurance is activate on my card and the premium of 15720 hundered this insurance is deduct my card without my consent. I am not want any insurance please cancel the insurance and refund my amount. I am very thankful to you.

                                  I wish to bring in notice of all concerned persons and esp irda as this is the high time they should take actions against these type of fraud companey whose main aim is not to insure the person but to loot his or her money by various stupid explanations and want to exploit the person who is already under stress of medical emergency
                                  i took policy from star health agent in january 2020 of me and my wife with policy no p/211117/01/2020/004729 with sum insured 10 lakh.
                                  My wife took consultation from dr manit arora after havin her knee twisted while walking in the month of august and after investigation he advised acl surgery.
                                  For this to avail cashless facility we prouced claim under claim no 2000183 as we were told expenses of nearly 3.5 lac at hospital and she was having 10 lac sum insured
                                  now here comes play from star health who wants to cheat only
                                  1]first of all they denied the claim giving explanation that they are not able to ascertain the duration of injury
                                  2]in reply of the objection dr.Manit arora give them in writing that the injury is fresh
                                  then they again denied saying the same thing now i don't understand that if your own network hospital doctor is giving you in writing that the injury is fresh why are you not believing him and they dont have any satisfactory answer to this.
                                  They asked me that we'll reimburse the expenses, i want to ask if i had this much of money why would i buy insurance policy
                                  now i challange dr prakash subbarayan who is medical expert head to proove which day she got this injury and i will proove her disease onset time same in court of law and how you can you not believe your network hospital doctor
                                  i think we should get full benefits under irda rules and regulation and we are being denied despite giving so heavy premium i demand from irda and concerned persons to take strict action as soon as possible otherwise i will take this matter to court of law and will not let you till supreme court and bottomline person to make aware ness

                                    Dear sir,

                                    My self sandeep sitaram bhalerao addmited due to kidny stone problem at getwell multispecility hospital manchar tal - ambegaon, dist - pune from 14th aug, 2020. My claim no. 0238318 has been rejected under pd. My consulting doctor mentioned in consulting paper stone dicease in 2008 and medically managed. I have submitted sonography report for 2008 in this report there no any stone disease, no calculus, hydronephrosis or focal lesion seen. Also i have submiited all document regarding cash less claim through this hospital. But my claim is rejected.

                                    Also i am not addmited from 2008 to april 2020 due to stone disease. There no past histroy as per sonography report.

                                    I am a middel calss person so i have purchased policy for future medical expenses. Now i have uneble to paid hospital charges.
