I booked an uber taxi on may 20, 2017 around 6.00 pm to travel from surat railway station to my home in vesu, surat and was expecting a fare of around rs. 180/= (Because only on previous day, i had travelled from home to the railway station in surat and the fare was rs. 183.56). But, on reaching the destination, the fare indicated was rs. 511.07. I paid the fare.
On lodging the complaint (2-3 times) with the company, they have been giving the unjustified explanation of elevated fare due to traffic blockage condition and fare charging system being dynamic etc. Etc. My response to them, as given below, will clearly indicate that uber does not follow ethical practices and try to justify unjustifiable by repeating the same arguments, again and again, without caring to read the complaint properly.
Uber team is trying to justify unjustifiable on one or other pretext as can be seen from the following:
1) the expected fare was not mentioned on the app at the time of booking. Since no fare was indicated, i, naturally, took it as it would be normal fare which is around rs. 180/= (It was rs. 184/= on previous trip on may 19 from my home (Salasar palace, vesu) to surat railway station.
2) the booking was made around 6.05 pm on may 20. The pickup point was surat railway station and the drop off (Initially as well as finally) point was my home (Salasar palace, vesu, surat). The vehicle reported in about 5 minutes of booking. This indicates that the vehicle was available only in the vicinity.
3) it took only 27-28 minutes (Covering a distance of about 15 kms within city limits only) in reaching the destination (Home) and there was no unusual or any kind of rush on the road during the journey.
4) there was no change in the drop off point which remained the same initially as well as finally and at no time it was sought to be changed.
In view of the above, therefore, there cannot be any justification for the elevated charges and that too almost 2.8 times.
Therefore, you are requested to see the merit in my complaint and get released the refund of rs.327/= pending since long.
Uber India customer support has been notified about the posted complaint.
