I have a been a user of Vodafone for the last 7 years and have been reasonable satisfied with them. However recently, I got to know and fell victim to a cheating tactic that the company is using to mint extra money..
I have a 3G internet plan of 1 GB per month active on my phone at the cost of INR 250/-
However, on a recent trip outstation (to Rajasthan, while I belong to Delhi), I noticed that my phone balance had dropped heavily from INR 570 to INR 200 all in 2 days time. I had rarely made or received any calls on this number as I use my other pospaid vodafone number for calls on roaming.. I was curious so I tried using their *111*4# system to find out why the charges are being made, that service was not working. I tried calling the call center, but they had no clue of it.
On returning to delhi (today itself) I decided to try my luck again with the call centre, there I get to know, that Vodafone even if you are subscribed to a internet pack, and are left with loads of free internet data, even then they "legitimately" deduct cost from your main account for using the internet. Reason?
"Sir, does your phone show a E somewhere?", he asks
"Yes it does", I reply.
"Sir, then it's got to do with our server settings. What you can do now is send an SMS and it won't happen again."
"But why was I not informed about this when I bought the plan?", I plead
"Sir, No one is ever informed. When they have a problem we tell them to send this SMS".
"But what about the money that you have already deducted, completely unfairly?!" I ask him in despair.
"Sir, we can't do anything about that, account balance can not be refunded", replied the Senior Manager.
"Then I want to lodge a complaint against this. Please report it and give me my complaint number", I say.
"Sorry Sir, but complaints are not registered for 3G & GPRS related issues".
But but but.... Bang, he disconnects.
That's what you get for being a loyal customer to a MNC. It appears that they are taxing their customers in vengeance to the tax that the Indian government has imposed upon them. Highly disappointing!!
