I bought a mi4i phone in nov 2015 from their official website http://www.mi.com/in/ early april 2016, i found there was a crack on the screen where i was told by service center in vashi, navi mumbai that this is not covered in warranty as its accidental damage and they need to replace the screen plus panel. I agreed to pay for the repair charges rs. 4500 for rs. 10, 500 phone. I finally got the phone after 10 days and multiple follows ups. On the very same day while taking delivery of the phone, i bought an accidental cover based on the company personnel's advice for additional rs. 500 so even for any accidental damage my phone is covered under warranty.
Next day we discovered that phone screen had same issue where display was not coming up even after them changing the screen so we resubmitted the phone on 2nd may, 2016 where i was told it will take another 7 days to fix it as there as looks like an issue with motherboard. I didn’t hear anything from them so i called the service center on 11th may who said it will take another 4 days as mi india as a company doesn’t supplies parts which delays the delivery. I called them again on 13th may and they said they can’t give me a timelines as the part has still not been received and rudely said that i should call their customer support and not the service center.
On 13th may i finally wrote to their customer support team, they asked me for the necessary details which was shared on 15th may, when i follow up with them they just say we are looking into the issue and have escalated your issue. There is even a lag in the response time and you have to chase them 2-3 times before they respond. I have written to them at least 15 times, called them 3 times plus i again went to service center but still haven't received the phone nor a date by when they fix the phone. I even wrote to people in their senior management including the ceo - mr. Manu kumar jain on [protected]@xiaomi.com after finding his details online but no response till date. Management email id’s to whom email are sent are all valid as there was no email failure delivery notification.
I have been without a phone for last 2 months now and xiaomi i. E. Mi india just doesn’t bother to call, respond or fix the issue. They have stopped responding to me since the time i told them that any further delay will make me initiate legal proceedings against them.
