Sir/ma’am
I am encroaching upon your precious time for reporting to you the fraudulent act/s committed by the service center of m/s xiaomi - a mobile phone manufacturer. The series of events is as follows:
1) i had purchased a redmi note 8 pro (6+128 gb) mobile phone through amazon on 21st february, 2020 for a sum of rs 15999/-.
2) on 19 march 2020, the phone screen started jittering and then the phone turned off. I was unable to turn on my phone. On trying to place a phone call to the redmi note phone from another phone the call got disconnected with the "phone switched off" message. On charging the phone only a white charging light was visible but the screen remained black.
3) on 19 march itself, i contacted the customer service by dialling at the hotline number-[protected] and explained the issue. As advised by them, i charged my phone for half an hour and tried to power it on by long-pressing the volume down and the power button simultaneously. But, this did not help. I was still not able to power on my phone. On enquiring about the nearby authorized mi service centres, i was informed about the mi service center delhi (Bmcp) situated at ab-11 (G. F) shalimar bagh, delhi-110088, with contact number-[protected].
4) on 21 march, i went to the said mi service center and explained the problem to the person incharge there who was receiving the complaints. She took the phone from me and sent it inside the service center workshop for checking. After some time, a man came out from inside with my phone and straightway alleged that either a self-repair attempt has been made at home or attempt of repair by an unauthorised shop/store has been made. He also said that a flux leak has been found in the motherboard, as a result of which the phone is now "out of the warranty" and consequently i will have to pay for the repair. I had to wait further to get the inspection sheet prepared by one sanjeev seth, inspector. Moreover, the phone was handed over to me later without even properly closing the back panel of the phone.
5) i have to make it clear here that neither i had attempted any repair myself nor any attempt to repair has been made by any other store/shop. It had only been 28 days since i purchased the phone and it was/is very much under warranty. There could be no question of shelling out money from my pocket to get it repaired from anywhere else when i knew very well that i could get it repaired free of cost at any mi authorized service centre as per the warranty conditions.
6) i am being falsely accused so that m/s xiaomi could avoid the repair of my phone under the warranty conditions.
7) you may like to appreciate that this is an act of fraud to extract extra money from the customers.
8) kindly issue suitable directions to m/s xiaomi for the repair of my phone free of cost as it is still covered by the warranty conditions. I also demand a compensation of rs 20, 000/- from m/s xiaomi for the mental and physical torture inflicted on me. Any other action, deemed fit by the hon'ble consumer forum may kindly be taken against m/s xiaomi.
The bill, inspection letter and the warranty card have been attached herewith.
I would be thankful to your good self for looking into the matter at the earliest possible.
Encl : 3 items aforementioned.
