My first experience with zoom car... Pathetic (Booking id - jps624711)
We had booked a car under the above booking id. At the first instance the car was not ready. Finally we got the car ready at 9.00p. M. Which was 30min beyond scheduled time... The car had a few scratches which were very well confirmed by the persons at zoom car... Moreover we had already sent a video of the car to their mobile [protected]. When we came to return the car, they person at the zoomcar outlet was the most unprofessional kind. His way of talking was very very rude. He went around the car and pointed out to the already existing scratches, which we said were already advised to your person and also video sent. He was unable to download the video which he very conveniently said was not his problem. I can't understand how are we responsible if he is using an outdated mobile set n is unable to download the video. He had no reaction and we were standing all there including three ladies... At 9.00 in the night at the zoomcar outlet which is quite secluded at that time of the night... (Who knows whether he had ulterior motives). He did not have the courtesy to tell us that the formalities have been completed and we could proceed. It was only after our repeated questioning that he confirmed the same. Now, we see a charge of rs 2500/- being applied to us as damage charges. We strongly oppose this as these damage charges, if any, were not advised to us at the time of returning the car. We don't even know what is the damage that they are charging us for. There were a few scratches on the car prior to pick up which was advised to them vide a video sent to the concerned representatives of zoom car on the site. Other than that there were no other damage to the car. Then what are we charged for???
On taking up the matter with zoom car customer care, they, very conveniently advised us that the charges are for the damages caused. But what are the damages??? Isn't it our fundamental right to know why are we being charged for??? If there were any damages (Which we very strongly refute), the same should have been conveyed to us before we left the site and we should have been in agreement with it. There should have been a valid proof of their claim. Charges should not be levied after our exit with the confirmation that everything is okay. On constant followup with them for the reason for claim of charges, zoomar finally advised us that there was a scratch present on the rear door. But the rear door already had scratches which was clearly conveyed to them through video and also confirmed by them in person at the time of pickup. So why are we charged for somebody else's deeds? This is pure looting. It appears that zoom car is using unfair means to extract money from unsuspecting public.
Kindly look into the this matter and arrange for refund of the amount wrongly claimed by zoom car for someone else's damage.

We did investigate on the issue and we are sorry to inform you that we would not be able to waive off the damage charges applied on the booking as the damage occurred during your reservation. Also, we believe that our team reached out to you and have informed you the same.

Updated by Eeshaan Vernekar Kindly note that the damage was not conveyed to us at the time of return of the car. We are of the strong contention that there was no damage to the car other than the existing ones when we returned it and this was very well brought to the notice of the personnel at the site. The earlier damages were also conveyed to you through a video which was earlier sent to you. As per RTI Act, as a consumer, I am expected to know what I am being charged for. If it is damages as you claim (and I strongly refute), this should have been brought to my notice while I was on site along with my concurrence. You cannot claim damage charges after my exit when your personnel was satisfied that there was no additional damage to the car other than the existing ones.
As such, provide me with evidence for the charges you claim just like how I have sent you a video prior to pickup, or else refund my charges. It is not a matter of money but a matter of principle wherein you are using unfair means to target unsuspecting customers like us. And I going to fight it tooth and nail no matter how high I have to go till I am convinced that the charges levied by you are legal and valid.
