My husband and I (Mr Vinod Patel [dob 21/05/47] & Mrs Mayura Patel[dob 04/10/53]) flew with Air India (AI 131, ref no. TUJK7K - Ticket number : 098-[protected]/23) and upgraded both the journeys from economy to business class, to and from London to Goa. However, on our return journey from Goa to Mumbai to London, on arrival at Mumbai airport, we were informed by John Fernandes, Duty Manager that there was no entertainment on the 2 seats booked for us. Of course we were very disappointed but agreed to travel on the condition that we would be offered compensation. John Fernanades, Duty Manager confirmed that we would be compensated but did not know the amount, he confirmed the following to me in his email:
We sincerely regret that owing to an unforeseen issue, we could not offer you serviceable seats (IFE NOT WORKING) in Business class, on your journey with Air India.
We thank you for agreeing to travel inspite of the seats being unserviceable under due compensation from our side and appreciate your support in this regard.
We remain deeply concerned that we haven't been able to match your expectations this time. We have taken note of this and shall
set forth corrective actions internally to avoid such recurrence.
On my return to London, I have written to Air India twice, to (John Fernandes, aid.[protected]@airindi.com and connecti.airindia.com) on 30/03/23 and to ([protected]@airindiaexpress.in with cc to John Fernanades, aid.[protected]@airindi.com and connecti.airindia.com) on 09/04/23 but no one has responded as yet.
I would be grateful if you could please respond with regard to the compensation as a mater o[censored]rgency.

    I travelled today (24 April 23) on AI flight AI382 from Delhi to Mumbai. The flight was quite bad.

    To start with:

    1. The flight didnt have any entertainment system.
    2. The seats were ancient, didnt even hv a headrest, no pocket behind the seats, not much to offer for drinks.

    All in this was the worst international aircraft and service I have seen. Even short distance flights hv bettert aircrafts. I fly very frequently ie 4-6 flights every month.

    You need to improve is a big, big way.

        Haven't received full refund for two cancelled tickets from August 31, 2020 from Hyderabad to Chicago. They closed the tickets at their end not allowing any more activity on this.
        Need help regarding this!

          I sent the below message on 22 nd or 23rd August 2022 but have not heard back yet.

          Dear Sir / Madam

          Namaskaar and Om Shanti.

          I recently travelled on Air India 112 and A1 531 on 19th / 20th August 2022 to Ahm. via Delhi.
          PNR : QIN27U

          On 19th morning I had wanted to purchase some extra weight allowance. I visited your website but was unclear what the difference was on the 2 options being offered : PIECE BAG or HEAVY PIECE BAG. I thus proceeded to call you on[protected] to ask the difference. this call was made sometime between 1230 and 1:30pm GMT. I was clearly told by the operator that both options meant I could carry a third bag and that the piece bag was 23kilo and the other 32 kilo. So on the basis of this information I packed a third bag. In fact, I had only wanted to add a few more kilos to one of my existing 2 bags but went with the advice I was give by one of your operators.

          When I arrived at the airport I was made to pay again a sum of 147 British Sterling for having a third case. . I was charged in the morning 66 pounds sterling and then again at the airport.

          I really would like some kind of reimbursement. I feel very disappointed that a I had to pay twice because I was given wrong advice by the person who took my call. I am very very disappointed. Many many people from my organisation fly with Air India as we have our Head Office in India. I feel that if some kind of amicable refund is not made I will will strongly need to advise our management of this incident so that other members my be protected from such incidents. As it is we are a charity and then to have to pay like this, I must say was difficult.

          In addition to I was made to stand for 45 minutes to make the extra payment. I keep poor health and this affected health throughout the journey. I was also stopped at every point and made to wait because a note had been made on my check in records stating that I had contested the payment.

          I do hope my return journey will be a better experience and the response I get to this letter will be friendlier and kinder than some of the ground staff I had to deal with.

            I have flown Air India all my life from Heathrow to Delhi, mostly twice a year. Since privatisation, the services have gone from bad to worse.
            The cost cutting is evident almost everywhere but the prices charged are MORE than most excellent international carriers! Unacceptable!
            The carriers are ancient reducing leasing costs.
            Almost most of the screens don’t work which on a long haul flight is unacceptable.
            AC kept at a level where it was clammy, another way of cutting cost.
            No menus circulated as seen on other flights - the air steward asks - veg or non-veg without saying what do they contain. Cost cutting again.
            No salt and pepper - cost cutting.
            Single ply napkins - cost cutting.
            Same corn salad in both meals - economies of scale and cost cutting again.
            Musty horrible smell both whilst flying in and when flying out.
            I could go on and on ……
            Do I get part of the flight refunded because it was certainly not of the level of other international carriers!
            I am going to post this on Twitter and write to Star Alliance and IATA to look into this shambolic state of affairs!

              This is with regard to my ticket booking from gatwick to cochin on 1st June.
              I wanted a reschedule to may 4th.The then ticket price was 44388 and when reschedule to a lower fare of 38818 .But I had to pay an extra charge of 11842 which I found as extremely unfair.Neither did I get any topup difference.
              Why is it like that.
              My ticket no was[protected] for my son Vinayak Sethu.I need a fair solution for this .

                I done boarding 1 hr 30 min before flight and waited on the lounge at Kolkata.
                After that I go to the gate no 101
                Air India staff says flight already gone.
                I was shocked. Air India staff were really rude. They were fighting each other .
                I had next early morning flight from Mumbai to London Heathrow.
                So I bought emergency ticket from Vistara flight no: UK776 date 27/03/2023
                I complained at Mumbai airport Air India counter. I paid nearly 23000 rs for my flight and extra luggage for domestic flight. It was a stressful day for me.
                I was mentally exhausted.
                Even Air India staff of Mumbai airport were shocked as well.
                Please give my compensation.

                  Hi

                  I was travelling from Amritsar to del to jfk on april 8th via flight ai480.
                  My pnr number 4g3axn.

                  While waiting to board my flight at 11 10, i forgot to pick my bagpack in waiting hall which was just lying outside boarding entrance area.

                  It was 10 30 pm .and still had 45 mins time to take off.
                  I entered plane and realized i have left my bagpack outside. I ran towards boarding area and they stopped me.
                  I requested them a lot to please pick that bag for me. As it was carrying lot of sensitive documents and laptop for my work. Also my apartment keys.

                  Airindia staff rudely answered me and asked me either to board the flight without bag or dont board flight.
                  They were denying me for any help. I kept requesting for 30 mins and then had to board the flight without bag. My whole travel to newyork was very tensed. I want to take this complaint to higher level to terminate these employess for their misbehavior and ignoring customer urgency .

                  Joga singh was incharge at that time . And other air india ground staff. All were rude and denied helping me.

                  Take strict action.

                  I have lost around $1000 just because of this thing.

                      I booked flight with Air India first time, It was a round trip. On 8th April i was flying from Delhi to Vancouver. I checked in Online, They sent me an email with a lot of information. There were two statements one was saying that luggage weight is allowed as stated in email while other was stating that weight of each bag should not exceed 32kg. But the thing is they have not mentioned that you have to pay extra or it is only for business class. It was really misleading information. When i reached air port they told me that weight is over. 5kg was over in each bag, was carrying no hand carry. when i showed them an email, they were silent was discussing with each other. then another lady came they were calling her Mam, She told that this is not for economy. When i asked her that why they have not mentioned business class or any other thing, she said that you are the first person asking this. at the end i paid them 20, 000 Indian currency for 10 kg even there was no handbag. That lady was really very disrespectful, She was not able to answer why they have not mentioned about over charge or business, she raised her volume.

                          I had a flight on 15/02/23 LHR TO BOM. I did not received one of my 23 kg bag which gray colored and hard plastic body and Safari make. Name plate was already on it. And I had already complained about that on the same day still I don’t get any reply from your side. It’s been a 2 months. So please do something about it.

                            Air India flight experience
                            AI 173 April 06, 2023.

                            On my return flight from Delhi to SFO two Prepaid bulkhead seats were issued to me as per my reservation, boarding passes were issued. On arrival at boarding gate, I heard an announcement, that my wife’s seat was changed. Her seat was issued to another couple. After talking to supervisor, seat was restored back. Staff at check-in counter doing favors or other reasons, they know better. It was intentionally done by the staff. I will be reluctant to travel with Air India again in future.

                              I travelled from Mel to AMD on the 5th April on Flight No. AI309. I had really bad experience on the Flight. First, Seats are dirty, Filthy, reap off the material and unstable. Air coming from the underneath the seat plastic gap, Entertainment system was not working at all. Imagine without any entertainment system I have to spend 12 hours on flight. Called flight attendant many many times but not the single time they came to help me. When they serving the food I ask to resolve the issue but they said they will come back later after serving but nobody I mean nobody came after that. There are several other passengers also complaint the same. I don't think I can travel again in Air India as they fail to provide the simple basic stuff to the passengers. Also, from DEL to AMD flight unbelievable thing happed. The flight was full of Mosquitos...yeas I typed it right full of mosquitos. We use flight safety laminated page as hand held fan to keep those monsters away. They talked about digital change and swatchh Bharat but it's a lie or its not up to that par at this time. I am going back to MEL again on 19/04 and would be appreciate to upgrade my seats to avoid such incidents. Please contact me on [protected]@hotmail.com to resolve the issue.

                                Hi, I recently booked a flight with air india and as per the itinerary I reached the airport and stood up in the line and when I reached at the checking counter after looking at my ticket the rep. simply directed me to the manger working on that day “Rahul” not sure what was his last name though. I was informed that the flight has been cancelled from Tel aviv from where I had my connecting flight. After all the trials and everything I was directed at the reservation counter of air India and assured that I have received the refund on profile but need to contact agent who booked my flight because amount goes back to their account. NOW!! for almost an year of a try they have not initiated the refund and the ONLY REASON they have is of NO-SHOW?? Literally there’s no other answer they have which is clearly they are lying and basically scammed me for such a huge amount!!?? I need help immediately please and am definitely not gonna leave this matter if I have to file complaint at Canadian court will do whatever I can to punish these shameless scammers assigned positions at AIR INDIA.

                                  On 9th March 2023, we reached Singapore. We found that our bag was missing and was replaced by some other bag. On enquiry and after so much fuss, we were informed that the crew member mistook that with her luggage and were not reachable. None from Air India people approached us to help us with this issue. They were unreachable. My mothers medicine were there in that luggage which we couldn't use. We had our sightseeing and every schedule planned for that day which were all wasted as my mother being senior citizen cant take the medicine without which I couldn't afford to take her anywhere. We waited there mentally, emotionally and physically exhausted. Stressed and tired and scared if anything happens to my mother without medicine, prescriptions, medicines everything was in that luggage. Such carelessness especially from Crew people was unexpected. Our Singapore trip ruined before even starting. I wanted to claim more being an International trip as going again there for both o[censored]s and places which we missed due to loosing time and the level of mental harassment we went through is nothing compared.

                                    I would like to share my flight experience with AIRINDIA dated 25th Jan 2023.. let me compliment the service first. Iam really impressed with the service. Service was really great. staff did a great job. very professional and friendly and polite. Food was good but could have been better.

                                    i would like to thank the following crew members for their outstanding extraordinary service. through out the trip the service was amazing. No sad or long faces. All smiling faces through out the flight.

                                    Moving on to the negative side of my flight from Toronto to chennai and Chennai to Toronto.
                                    same experience both ways.

                                    My 1st flight with AIR INDIA and i must say that i will never ever choose AIR INDIA. never in my life unless you change the aircrafts. Hated my journey. i was way tooooo pissed off.

                                    on my way to chennai, i was moved to 3 different seats and they all the same. not able to extend the seats, broken tray table, TV Monitor was not working, Very bad movie collections. way too old. i logged a complaint via email and i got reply stating that they are SORRY for what happend and thats it. this pissed me off more.

                                    Now my flight from Chennai to Toronto. same story. nothing changed. i was not able to lie flat. not just me few of the passengers faced the same issue. we were all pissed off. You are representing INDIAand this is how you represent. Think what kind of message you convey to the world travellers. How will regain the confidence, trust, name and brand.

                                    We travel in business class, not just because we like to spend all our money. we want to travel in comfort. we paid for the service, which we never got. we pay that extra money to travel with luxury and comfort.

                                    were was that comfort, comeone it is 15.20hrs flight and we can not even lie flat. and a broken tray table. damaged remote. way to old depressing movie collections. not able to dine properly as my tray table was broken and i have to hold the table. not able to sleep comfortably. IS THIS WHAT I GET FOR PAYING THAT EXTRA MONEY. now were is my comfort.

                                    you forced me to sleep in that broken seat for 15hrs. Do you think its acceptable. you took our money and look how cheap you treated us.

                                    iam a heart patient and i have ICD implanted and i must highlight that my flight hours messed up my health. i felt the discomfort. Imagine paying that extra money and not able to sleep properly. like legs hanging out as the seats wont move any further. how pathetic.

                                    If it is one of then its fine but its not. coz i experienced the same from Toronto to chennai.

                                    Were is all your business ethics. were is your empathy and sympathy.

                                    Is this how you treat your customers. Come AIR INDIA, Tata can do much much much better than this.

                                    No wonder everybody hates AIR INDIA.

                                    Will u travel the way I / WE travelled. will you let your family to fly and experience the same. will tata family fly the same aircraft we flew.

                                    Treat us with respect, value us. Consider us as a HUMAN. we are not street dogs. we deserve better.

                                    you treated us like street dogs, shoved us all in one piece of big junk with wings, which can fly for 15hrs.

                                    Imagine economy passengers. feel sorry for them

                                    For the money that i paid on a scale of 1 to 10, i will score only 3 and that too its for the service from yur staff and other than that, its is a miserable flight and airline to fly with.

                                    AND NOW WHAR ARE YOU GOING TO DO ?

                                    I never received any of the business class luxury in your flight except for the service. I strongly believe that i have all the right to ask for a FULL REFUND and EVEN MORE, for forcing me to fly that miserable flight. Iam a heart patient and i wan to fly comfortably. which didn't happen in your flight but you took my money. 15 HRS OF PAIN, PHYSICAL & MENTAL PRESSURE, STRESS, LACK OF SLEEP, ENTERTAINMENT AND DISCOMFORT. Imagine going through all this. Is this what i get for flying in BUSINESS CLASS.

                                    i have asked Sandeep your INFLIGHT attendant to update their log book / records as a proof.

                                    Please investigate this and may i request you to get back to me.

                                    I don't want a reply saying SORRY and i t wont happen in the future. Thats the future you are taking about. what are going to do about what happened now and how are you going to compensate it.

                                    I will not let this slide. i will fight for my rights. I PAID FOR IT right ?.

                                      On 12th Feb 2022 I booked a flight using Make My trip portal from Mumbai to Chennai wrongly on 13th Feb morning as i was in chennai and the arrow button got double pressed, I did not see that and clicked further and paid Rs 6000 approx using my card. Within 3 minutes i realised that i made a wrong sector booking as i wa sin Chennai and looking after my family. I got a news that i had to attend my father's Shradhdham (Death anniversary ritual) in a temple on 14th Feb 2022.
                                      So in a hurry and panic i did a genuine error. I called MMT office and the lady asked me to all Air India office. I spoke to them after a long wait and they redirected me to MMT team. I emailed MMY as well requesting change of date or change of sector or refund. The lady said she will try to resolve this and come back to me asap. Then by the time she came back to me over phone it was after 4 hours. She said sorry it is treated as no show and no refund. I was dejected. I thought to cancel this ticket so another passenger can benefit and expected Air India to show moral and ethics and honestly refund me the money as they cannot sell the ticket twice isn't it? But despite many email reminders and twitter messages their answer is no. I really wonder whether airlines have any morals or not? Can't they exercise simple discretion and help genuine customers hard earned money?
