I recently placed an order at flipkart (An electronic commerce company headquartered in bangalore, karnataka) for redmi k20 mobile phone under exchange offer. The exchange offer involves exchanging older mobile with a newer one. When the ekart (Courier name) executive came to deliver the mobile, he rejected the exchange saying the screen has a scratch (Of 2 mm, barely visible from naked eyes). I contacted delivery boys manager and he said we don't accept any phone if it has any scratches on front or back side. Are they expecting that customers should exchange new phones. Old phones will have some scratches and in this case it was only 1 scratch of 2 millimeter. I accepted the mobile and gave amount of exchange.
I contacted customer care today and they said it's in our policy that we accept mobile phones which have scratches, but now since the order has been delivered so they can't do anything about it, how is this fair?
The flipkart terms and conditions are (Flipkart terms and conditions followd by my response):
A. Brand and model of the old device matches the declaration provided by me in the flipkart website at the time of purchase of the new device.
The old device exactly matches the declaration provided by me.
B. The phone switches on and should be in switch on mode for a minimum of 30 seconds without connecting to charger.
The phone switches on and remans active for hours together.
C. The imei of the old device, provided by me in the flipkart website at the time of purchase of the new device, is correct and there is no mismatch.
The imei of the old device matches exactly with that provided by me.
D. Screen should not have any cracks and it should not be coming out from edges. Body of phone should not have any crack and there should not be any button missing from the phone
There are no cracks on the screen and it remains intact. There are neither cracks nor missing buttons in the phone.
E. For all phones, the screen lock should not be active (All forms of screen lock viz; pattern, pin, password, fingerprint, face recognition, smart lock, etc needs to be de — activated).
The screen lock was kept active.
F. For apple iphones, i-cloud account is unlocked.
This is not applicable in my case.
Despite fulfilling the terms and conditions as a customer, my purchase order was not fulfilled and thus the exchange was rejected. 1400 is a huge amount and i would like flipkart to either give me the compensation or take my old mobile from my home and then pay me the amount that needs to be paid.
