I bought 2 wheeler from IDFC bank in 2019 and had been making payment until March 2020. Since Lockdown began, my husband lost his job and I was sole care taker of my family. I opted for moratorium got confirmation messages still IDFC bank had submitted the ECS to bank and bouncing charges were levied. I sent emails to look into this matter. No one replied, no one answer calls. Financial condition got worse. Then I started paying the EMI from January 2021, they seized the vehicle in February 2021. I went to Koramangla branch and explained the situation, paid 2 months EMI and paid seizing charges of 3000 at the branch. After that I started paying EMI every month with out a miss. Again on 16th September seizing team stopped me and asked to make the payment. I showed them the proof, they refused to take my word and started ill treating on the road side. I requested them that I have been making payments religiously and bank is aware of the situation. Then they asked me to talk to their Manager Lokesh, who had absolutely no manners to talk to a lady. First they asked me clear 4 emi's. I agreed and called my mom to pledge my gold chain and get the money which was around 14, 444 (3611*4). Then they refused and asked me to make the total outstanding 48000 including bouncing charges, interest rates. I said If I had that money the I wouldnt standing here with you. I stood for almost 2.5 hours in the hot sun, It was really embarrassing. I told them will go to police stating, they refused telling me, if you want to complaint give us the vehicle then do what ever you want, will not come. They were 4 guys and spoke to me so rudely and with out no respect as if i am criminal. Finally they asked me give us the seizing charges and leave, they demanded 5000. I showed my bank account and had only 700 rs. Then they asked me to pay 2700 which is not seizing fee. I asked to ensure that if I take the vehicle somewhere will your team still stop me. He said he cannot ensure that. He asked to borrow money and paid him 2000.
Trust me, I was about to cry on the road. Firstly they gave me option to make the payment and leave, which I agreed then they said no, you have to pay the outstanding, then they asked me to pay the seizing charges, shouted at me, yelling on the road. denied to come to police station.
My concern is not only me the whole world is facing the problem. So why cant they treat us like human beings? Its me who paid downpayment, paid emi's regularly. when i tried to contact the bank during the hard time, no one was there to help. Now when I had been making payments, I get insulted on the road and tortured me to take my bike if I dont pay them.
