Respected Sir,

I am Kamlesh Sharma from Ahmedabad. On date 20th December 2009 I was in Mumbai due to some personal works of mine. I was at Bandra Terminus, Platform No. 1 at about 5 o'clock. I was new in Mumbai so I was unaware about the Ticket Window of Bandra Terminus and I was searching for ticket window. Suddenly a ticket checker came to me and asked me for the ticket. I told him the reason and I agreed to pay the fine of 253/- Rupees as told by him. Then he took me to The Chief Ticket Collector's Office and The Chief Ticket Collector asked me for 253/- Rupees as fine. I gave him 253/- rupees and asked for the receipt. He told him that what will you do with the receipt, go away. We don't give receipt to any one, get lost. I am sure that the ticket collectors of Bandra Terminus and The Chief Ticket Collector are running a scandal of not giving the receipt to the offenders and the money in they collect in name of fine is directly going in their pockets. In short they are illegaly collecting the fine amount and instead of forwarding the fine amount to railways they are filling their own pockets. Please take necessary steps towards such kind of railway employees

Thanking You.
Kamlesh Sharma,

On december 10, i received an amount of rs. 510 in my account which is against the pnr no. [protected] and the transaction id. [protected]. i think the amount which has been credited is less than the actual ticket value(Rs.1045). i did the tdr process long back on 16/02/09 but after so many days the amount received is not correct amount. i filed the tdr as because the train was more than 3 hours late. i am attaching the file. please look into it.

My friend, Mrinal Sen was travelling with his mother, Smt. N. R. Sen, 76 years old, on 8616 Hatia-Howrah express on 18.12.2009 by AC First Class. At the time of booking, the status was shown as confirmed (PNR: [protected]). However, on arriving at the station, it was found that both the berths were alloted as upper berths.

Usually, the berth allotment in First Classes is done by the railway staff manually from the originating station. However, inspite of Smt. Sen's age, she was not alloted a lower berth.

The Railway staff in charge of these allocations should be more sensible while alloting berths.

          Dear Sir,
Western Railway is doing a good job by starting 15 coach train, but the frequency is too less. Also i have one suggestion that Western Railway can increase the number of compartments for the 1st class so more people can travel through & it helps to increase in people, more people more will be the profit for the railway(its other part).
We are spending so much money to travel from 1st class for peaceful traveling but we can't able to it has same situation like 2nd class.
Please increase 1st compartment to get some more revenue & for peaceful life.
          Regards

I would request the western railway to add more first class compartment for LADIES in the 12 and 15 coach locals. Many of the working women travel first class but are middle aged. Hence, it is very difficult for them to walk till the end of the platform to board the ladies first class compartment. Perforce, they travel in the second class ladies. Moreover, even in the 9 coach train, there are many ladies who have to stand in the first class compartment. Increasing the number of ladies first class compartments at different points in the train, eg, 4th coach, 6th coach, 8th coach in the train.
I request you to kindly look into increasing ladies first class coaches in the Western Railway local trains favourably

            Dear Sir/ Madam

I have filed TDR refund for 12 tickets (as attached) with IRCTC on date : 13th July 2009. Its 5 months from that day that I am begging for my own money at the fault of Indian Railways but still not received the refund. I am frustrated after spending my time & energy in doing follow up for the TDR refund.
The TDR was claimed because I Canceled the tickets on 13th July 2009.
TDR status (as in attached sheet) clearly reflects that it was approved by their ADMIN & showing 'Refund under process' from last 5 months.
I have called Chennai customer care many times as they are asking me to call to Delhi. If I call to Delhi these fellows are telling call to Kalkatta and send a mails to below ids

I have sent a mails many times but every times they are reploying with the ame mail

I have called many times since I am asked to give a call to bellow numbers
[protected], [protected], [protected], [protected] , [protected], and customer care numbers

As per the TDR refund rules its supposed to be credited within 90 days but in my case its been 150 days ( 5 months ) that I havent got the same.
Everytime IRCTC sends email to me saying that they have sent reminder to concerned Railways but I am not bothered about the reminders but for my hard earned money which I have LOST.
Request you to please intervene into this matter for my refund amount & compensate for the loss of time, money & energy spent by me in fighting for my own rights.

Below communication mails attached for reference.

Indian Railways — Regarding refund for cancelled ticket

            Respected Sir/ Madam,

I had cancelled an E-ticket (PNR No : [protected] and the Transaction ID: [protected]) few days ago. The amount has not been credited to my account so far. I have registered the complaint with IRCTC through [protected]@irctc and also ove the phone. But it availed no help. Kindly provide the needful help.

Indian Railway — Not willing to refund my money

            Hi,
This is my grivence and complain to railway with regards to my ticket PNR No [protected] for Tata Yeswantpur express on 02/05/2008 (Friday) for my parents from Rourkela to Yeswantpur.
I booked the ticket through IRCTC on the day of journey I found that due to some accident happen in between Tatanagar Jn to Rourkela Jn, so the train no 2889 will not arrive to Rourkela. My parents asked the railway official the other alternative way, they told to cancel the ticket on next day (03/05/2008). On 03/05/2008 they said as the ticket was booked through irctc to cancellation will be done at destination station. On 06/05/2008 I gone to Yeswantpur to cancel the ticket they told me to get the cancellation receipt from origin station then they will cancel the ticket. Ultimately I tored the ticket and thrown away and then writing this complain to you.
            Observation and Suggestion
            1. Could have provided a alternative train
            2. Misguided the passengers.
            3. Got information IRCTC and Indian Railway as no where related.
            4. Train cancellation was not our fault, but railway does not want to return my money so they ask all these.
            5. Railway station enquiry number not their in the website.
            6. How to speak to higher officials no way.
Being a railway official you do not know which train is cancelled or should have guided in a correct way to cancel the ticket.
I will claim this amount and even more for harashing physically and mentally.
Please take this matter seriously so that I should not loose my money because of your fault.
You can call me at [protected] or send me mail at [protected]@gmail.com

I tried to put this complain in Indian railway official site but it says that "Invalid message".
Indian railway site is also horrible to get the information.
            First EMail

I am trying to cancel my E-Ticket since morning 5.30 am however I am not able to do so as whenever I click on Cancel E-Ticket error comes which says "Unable to retrive due to communication failure".

Please help me to cancel my ticket. Moreover as it is a fault of your website therefore I should get full refund of the fare.

            Second EMail

As I spoke to one of of your supervisors today and I was told that I would get only 50% of the total fare as refund as I have marked the mail after the chart was prepared.

However as mentioned in the previous mail I was trying to cancel the ticket online since 5.30 am IST and I was not able to do so due to the fault in your website. When I called up at your customer care number on 28th may 2008 I was told that I should mark a mail to IRCTC to get the ticket cancelled as there was a problem in the website since last two days.

Moreover your website still has the same problem till today.
Its really pathetic on IRCTC's part where you people are not aware of the problem in your website. How incompitent your IT department is that they are not able to track an eror in the website.

As It was a problem with your website so IRCTC should refund the standard amout after cacellation of the ticket.

Please find the attached file which shows that the problem with the website still remains the same even today.
Unable to cancel tickets since 7pm ultimately sent an email, no response upto 1am... called the helpdesk- no response.

I had got a waiting i-ticket which could not be confirmed even after chart preparation. Thus I was not able to travel against this ticket. The ticket coulld not be cancelled at the cancellation counter as the cancellation counter closed at 12:00 am while the train was for 11:45 pm.

Since the status was waiting on the ticket and I did not travel I wanted the cancellation of the ticket and the refund against it.

I contacted IRCTC and they adviced "kindly Surrender the I-Ticket with the Station Master and obtain a Ticket Deposit Receipt" for which I replied - "I have already travelled down to Kanpur by road, should I submit the train ticket to the TTE in Kanpur now?" Thereafter I did not receive any response even after several reminders to IRCTC.

            Indian Railways — Regarding refund

On 11/02/2012 3 seats were booked with the train number 18208 from jaipur to Bilaspur while the transaction was under process the charges are recovered from my bank account whereas the tickets were not confirmed as the internet services were disconnected.
After viewing the status position tickets were again booked and charges were again collected on confirmation of seats on the said train.
Thus my bank account was debited twice against the confirmation of 3 seats.Hence the excess amount collected may please be refunded of Rs 928 to me without levying any charges at the earliest convenience.
The incident is also reported on phone on the same day.

I am a resident of Gavara kancharapalem, Visakhapatnam. Due to two new platforms being installed in the Vizag central railway station, the trains which approach at busy hours to the station are held up at 2-3 kms away from the Central Station for clearance of available platforms. The area which is 2-3 km away to the station is Gavara Kancharapalem. People residing in this area are facing a lot of problems, the worst case being that an ambulance can't reach the area when the situation demands. People including pedestrians and vehicle owners are facing lot of difficulties in their daily life. Well we've respected their(SE Railways) concern in developing two more platforms at central station and due to that the trains had to be held up. But after the process being initiated 3 years back, as of now the platforms are yet to be constructed and the trains are still being held up. on 14/12/09, at Mahalakshmi station i renewed a three mthly western railway season pass from Churchgate to Elphinston Road. i gave the man at the counter Rs.195/- which was the fare. now he repeated in proper english same stations ie church to elp rd, i said yes, and he gave me the ticket and i was getting late plus after a long time my chance had come to come to the window, i just dumped it in my purse and travelled not realising that this man had issued me a pass for mahalakshmi to bandra (same fare but other side). if i am staying at grant road why would i want a three mth pass for goingin the opp direction, this i only realised the next day when i was signing the pass. and instantly i went to the counter in the evneing and that staff was on leave and the other man asked me to meet his boss. he said its completely yr fault, i told him that yr officer knows english, he has the computer in front of him so i assume he knows typing and above all he can read fr my old pass adn he verified orally with me, yet he typed wrong. now are u going to blame me or him. How can u put the full onus on me fr not checking. I[censored] go in any pvt organisation/bk, will the bank blame it on you or will they say sorry and rectify the error. he said the exec will ahve to pay fr his salary, then i said so be it ITS A COMPLETE ERROR ON HIS PART OF BEING CARELESS and bec he reiterated what was mentioned correctly i trusted him and did not verify the ticket. but they are not giving me the money back and i will ahve to buy another ticket they say of Rs.195/-. THEY SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FR THEIR WRONG DOINGS. pls help me in this regard.

                      Ministry of Indian Railways

                      Dear Sir/ Madam

I have filed TDR refund for 2 tickets (as attached) with IRCTC on date : 16th aug 09. Its 4 months from that day that I am begging for my own money at the fault of Indian Railways but still not received the refund. I am frustrated after spending my time & energy in doing follow up for the TDR refund.
The TDR was claimed because I booked tickets under AC chair car but had to travel in general class at the fault of Indian Railways because proper AC coach not attached.
the TDR status (as in attached sheet) clearly reflects that it was approved by their ADMIN & showing 'Refund under process' from last 120 days.
As per the TDR refund rules its supposed to be credited within 90 days but in my case its been 120 days ( 4 months ) that I havent got the same.
Everytime IRCTC sends email to me saying that they have sent reminder to concerned Railways but I am not bothered about the reminders but for my hard earned money which I have LOST.
Request you to please intervene into this matter for my refund amount & compensate for the loss of time, money & enery spent by me in fighting for my own rights.

Below communication mails attached for reference.

                      Regards

                      Hi

This is regarding the TDR I file on 27-Oct-2010 (almost 130 days back). The details of the TDRs are attached here with this mail for your reference. The below status has not change for a long time(since January 2010). I know TDR process takes time, but don't you think 130 days is a LONG time to process the same. .

Please do the needful. Waiting for your reply.

fault of mine. In case of train cancellation we get
refund immediately from station counter in case of

                            Sleeper Ticket — Sleeper Ticket

                            Sir,

It has happened many a times when I purchase a Sleeper Ticket and get inside a Sleeper compartment, people starts arguing that I am not entitled to travel in a reserved compartment.

At last when I contact with the TTE, he says that in such and such train, these are the compartments to be travelled by Sleeper Class ticket holders.

Why not this information is passed on to the travellers before issuing the Sleeper Class Ticket? After paying much higher amount, dont they have the right to know their seating particulars?

                            timetech — Sleeper ticket

Please do not allow people without reservation in sleeper coaches at any time since the volume is much high now and not getting seat to reserved passengers even to sit.(Else set a limit for sleeper tickets/put 2 coaches for sleeper ticketers.

Indian Rail — about station announcement

                                  sir
it is matter of sad that there is no provision of announcement of forcomming station for passanger treveling on indian trains except rajdhani and shatabdi trains and feew locals (in mumbai) and usally neither on station(announcement) that this is such station or station x welcomes u in its area and thats why passenger getting lots of problem , they use to awake for several hours during night journy for not missing there distination (station),and if not doing so missing there station(distination),
its matter of great sarrow that compartment tte / next station ticket examiner is penalising the same traveller for not having proper ticket after missing the station
therefore announcement facility in train should be compulsary
i got same problem in train no 2225 ,at 5 am it reached aligarh , i was sleeping , tte of coach sleeper -7 , not informed me about , i woke up in gaziabad , i reached delhi sation ,and there i got delhi kanpur emu and return aligarh at 11.58 am , i missed my duty on 23rd
succh type of problemgetting lots of train passanger though reporting and complaint may be less
                                  requesting for needfull action

We asked for bed sheet, blanket and pello from house keeper Mr Gupta and accordingly spread your bed in respected berths The train departed from station at at about 0550 AM Till Faridabad we were seeing all the moment of the passengers and the Hackers in the compartment, after that we had sleep, I was laying on upper berth No 18 and my Mrs was sleeping in lower berth No17. My Mrs got up at Agra Cantt station found that her purse is taken away from her bearth, which was cover by cloths and blanket by side of her .I asked the attendant Mr Kunj Lal Gupta about the purse .He told that one purse is laying and hanged in the toilet, is it your I told YES .

I am having all the dough and suspect goes to him only. As her is knowing how is coming and going from the compartment
Mr Raj Pal Singh asked Mr Gupta to call GRPF person from back compartment. He inquired and told that non of GRPF person is on duty in the complete train. When contacted the attendent he without any concern relied that we need to adjust with what we have been given!
If we have to put up with cockroaches and rats and lizards in a AC compartment why are we being charged huge amounts to travel?
The regular cleaning does not take place and we have to put up with unhygenic conditions! Why? This matter needs to be looked in immediately to ensure that passengers are not put up with this kind of horrible conditions!
This needs immediate attention by the concerned authorities!
We are not cattle with this kind of treatment!!!

                                    Complaint marked as Resolved
Recently I had to travel by 6613 Rajkot-Coimabatore express from Ahemedabad to Salem. The AC 2 Tier bogie was infested with cock roaches which were crawling all around. The curtains were so dirty that they were smelling. The bed linen and blanket supplied by the attendent were so dirty and torn that one could risk infection by using them.No hand towels were supplied. For the price of an AC ticket one could travel by air these days. Why should any body travel by IR if this is their attitude to customers. It is high time that private trains are run on IR tracks and Railways be responsible only for the maintainance of infrastructure and not passenger service.

We were travelled in Brindavan Express (Train number: 2640) on 5th of December 2010 in D4 Coach. The train TTE is fully dunked and spoken with abusing words with the passengers. He stated to bribe money from some of the people who got in to the reservation compartment with the general ticket. I tried to note down his name but he did wearing his badge too. Please stop this kind of nonsense.
