I am an engineering college student and was travelling from Mangalore Station to LTT Mumbai by 2620 Matsyagandha Express on September 17th 2009 ticket PNR being [protected] 3-AC Seat No. B2/035. A Train Ticket Examiner who had a badge which displayed his name as R. Robert entered the train and demanded that I present an ID for my ticket. As usual I showed him my college ID as i normally have done on previous occasions. He however got into a rage and very rudely and impolitely said that it was invalid unless I produced a passport/PAN card/drivers license/government employee ID. If I didn't have any of these I would have to pay a sum of Rs. 2500. When the passengers who were around me wanted to know the rationale for the amount he had demanded, he was furious and shouted at me saying I should get out of the train. As I was travelling alone I broke into tears and tried to call my parents. He refused to talk neither to any of them nor to the passengers who requested him for his ID. He then disappeared from the scene but after long intervals came back on three occasions saying that he would have to call the police. Co-passengers a naval officer Asst. Commander Shahnavaz, a member of the Rajya Sabha Mrs Sunita and others tried to intervene and he felt the pressure and never showed his face again.
It is clear from the episode narrated that this public servant of the railways who was trying to intimidate and brow beat a young girl student travelling alone in order to extort money through ungainful means. I would request you to let the concerned authorities know about the incident and take immediate stringent action against such errant officers of the railways.
My questions are:
1. Why is the college ID affiliated to the state recognized university not valid?
2. How can one expect young students to possess a PAN card/passport (if they have not travelled abroad)/driving license/Govt. issued employee ID card?
3. Is it not possible to make provisions for a convenient alternative ID card accessible to all if it is the intent of the railways to make E-ticket booking facility as a convenient provision for all passengers?
Thanking You

I travel first class from Matung to Andheri and back . On 16th September the 7:38 pm train that I boarded from Andheri had one coach which was dirted with human feces. Yesterday i.e on 17th September 2009 I happen to take the same train and it too has the . It was not cleaned .. The feces had got spread due to someone stepping on it . Are not the raliways responsible to ensure "No one dirties the compartments " and they are cleaned . This is very common in Ladies First class.

Request the concern authority to looks into the issue.

      Western Railways — DIRTY COACHES

I travelled from goregaon to Churchgate on 7.2.2010. I took local which was a fast and was scheduled at goregaon at 9.46 am and took middle first class. the coach No. was 1009A. I entered to find all dirt around. The coach was unclean. Infact I was surprised to see that the seats were so dirty, smelly and was almost black. No one could sit on the seat with using newspaper. It looked like 3rd class. I moved to second class as it was a better one.

It seems that railway department has no time to see it.... may be they are busy in their own affairs.

      To,
      Whomsoever it may concern,
I am a regular traveller of western railway. These days i have seeing many changes in the basic infrastructure of the railways.
I travel from borivali to mumbai central. Maximum times in the evening while retrurning back from mumbai central to Borivali, train goes to the platform no.8 or 7 in borivali, but there are no such annoucements made in the train on the same due to which many times there is a lapse between the passengers of platform no.7 & 8 when both the trains follow each other in borivali. The number of trains going to the platform no. 7 & 8 is higher in the evening peak time, due to which more rush is found on the platform no. 7 & 8.
most of the people when they get down at borivali they walk towards platform no.1 which shows that the number of people living or preferring near side of borivali platform no.1-6 are more.

I was travelling on the Shirdi - Vishakapatnam Vishaka Express, having departed from the Sai Nagar Station [Shirdi] at 6:50pm on the 10th of September to disembark at the Secunderabad Junction. We were a group of five women, all relatives of mine, and were allocated seat numbers 1,2,3,4,5 in the S2 compartment. As there were very few travellers in this train, only two second class compartments [S1 and S2] appeared to be satisfactorily occupied while the remaining seven coaches were more or less empty through the remainder of the journey.

As the seats were located near the exit doors of the coach, and three of the women were elderly by nature, we even requested the TTE to provide seats somewhere in the middle of the coach. He said that transferring a group of people ie. us, would not be possible, and told us that we could instead lock the doors of the coach at night, as nobody was expected to exit/ enter through the remainder of the night's journey. I slept off around 2 am in the morning and my relative was up around 5.30 am the next day.

At around 8am, when all o[censored]s were awake, we decided to transfer to a compartment in the middle, as the stench from the toilets were too much to handle. It was then we realized that an Infosys travel bag containing my mothers and my artefacts was missing.

Although there was no money or jewelery, it contained a Siemens hearing aid worth Rs. 22,000 and is extremely difficult to replace.

We searched the entire train immediately and even went to locate the TTE so as to report the matter to him. However, he was not to be located in any of the compartments, even in the First Class AC Compartment, where a Railway Vendor reported him to be sleeping. The train arrived around 10am where in we disembarked and reported the matter to a police officer, Mr. Kodana Rao, of the Secunderabad Railway Police. He went in search for the train guard so as to locate the timings and stations the train had stopped at during the night. The guard was not available and the police officer, having heard the contents of the luggage, told us that filing the FIR was a lengthy procedure and downright told us to forget about the whole matter, as we were residents of Chennai and did not take any more interest in the matter.

The travel bag is a distictive blue and cream Infosys shoulder bag, with wheels. The distinctive contents include:

        1. Siemens Hearing Aid (red colour) in a white dehumidifier box
        2. Homeopathic kit which contains a list headed by the name of Dr. Premila Rajan and her phone number
        3. Turakhia blue optical kit containg hair accessories.
        4. A book called City of Glass by Alexandro Barisso.
        5. Several sets of clothing and cosmetics.

The entire worth of the lost baggage is about 30, 000 rupees.

It is extremely shocking that the TTE was absent when we needed him, and that the Secunderabad Railway Police dismissed the entire matter, on hearing that the most important item was a hearing aid and refused to believe that it was worth 22, 000 rupees.

          Resolved

          Dear Sir:

Last month i.e.in August, I made a visit to Agra with my family from Rajahmundry, Andhra Pradesh. I booked my to and fro tickets one month in advance from Rajahmundry at Railway Station. The tickets are not e-tickets.

I booked my return ticket from Agra to Rajahmundry in Swarnajayanthi express for 16th august, 2009. But the railway authorities cancelled the train due to some problems. So, I need to cancel the ticket (total fare paid back by the railways with zero cancellation charges). But many passengers have to start at the same moment to andhra and we got no time to book the return tickets. So, I took the help of internet and booked e-ticket from Agra to Rajahmundry in Dakshin Express.

But, I don't have any photo identity proof with me which I came to know that it is necessary to travel by e-Ticket. Since, I had the original ticket provided by railways (before cancellation of swarna jayanti express), I didn't keep any of my photo identity proofs. So after getting in to the train with e-ticket the ticket inspector charged the total fare on ticket and some extra fine by considering that we are travelling with out a ticket (according to the rules of Indian railways e-ticket service). I showed him my ATM cards with my name and photo, my old cancelled ticket and even the photo identity card of my membership in Dayalbagh satsang, Agra which I visited. Even our names are matching with the list the inspector is having, but nothing worked out. He want either PAN card, Passport, Identity card from a state or central government.

This actual problem arised because of the cancellation of the Train Swarna Jayanthi. What I feel is Railway authorities must run another train because there were many passengers who need to travel. It is the season and many will travel from agra only because they visit Dayalbagh Spiritual organization during this month. Many of the satsangis sufferred a lot. I didn't understand why the e-ticket must require all these photo identity proofs because the ticket will be generated by IRCTC computer only. Infact what is the difference between original ticket and e-ticket. Infact any duplicate person can travel with original railway ticket then why railways is so particular about e-ticket. Every passenger should then carry his/her photo identity card.

Please suggest me whether is there any chance of getting my money? If not please let me know what mistake I did and is it really necessary to carry photo identity card along with e-ticket while the ticket purchased from the railway counter do not require such proofs even though chances of misusing the tickets are high.

          Thanking you,

When my mother board on the train, ticket collector deny his ticket.
when i talk to indian railway executive, he said your ticket has been canclled from your end. But I did not make such a transaction in irctc.co.in. If i had made such transaction, there should be one record in cancelled history and refund status field, but there is no such record avalaible even there is no record in booked history too.

My parents paid fine 1900 rs and rasid number is :-" 899566" and ticket no :- "BOK 59T797"

            Indian Railway — ticket cancellation

i have already (4 times) requested indian railway to cancel my e-ticket as mentioned below:

[protected] 2 AC 2nd Sept. 2011 Umesh Kalantri and Sonika Kalantri 20th July 2011

However neither the website if working nor the representative pick up calls or solve the issue. The ticket when requested for cancellation was in waiting status and now has already come to RAC. This will cause extra charges being debited and lessor refund in my account.

the website has 3rd class services and connects one person's account to various other person. Indian railways if cant provide services should not claim the same to be done. I want my money back for the aforesaid tickets.

                non refund of difference amount
                Dear Sir,

My name is Bikram Kumar Sharma. I had to travel from Mumbai to Trivandrum by IIIAC despite i was having 2nd AC ticket due to non availability of 2nd AC Coach.

I filed a TDR on 29.05.2009, details of which are given below. But railway has declined my request by saying that Party had not obtained Lower Class Certificate (LCC) from TTE.

I want to know, why i am not eligible for refund. Other passenges who had booked ticket through counter, were eligible for refund and they were given refund claim slip from TTE instant. TTE was not giving Lower Class Certificate to those were booked online. He simply refused saying that we would have to make request online,
                Kindly look into the matter.

                thanking you,

Many without ticket passengers travel in the first class compartments of MEMU Shuttle which starts from VIRAR for DAHANU RD. in the morning at 8-35. Mainly these passengers are from police dept. who are taking as their birth right to travel by train without ticket. This is resulting in injustice to the bonafide pasengers who are buying tickets honestly. Will the Railway authorities will look into the matter?

I would like to inform you that the train (Local) leaving from Dahisar Station at 05.36 a.m.towards Churchgate from Virar is full of passengers, without ticket. Please note that all the people ( With or without ordinary ticket) entering into the 1st Class Ladies Compartment and occupying the seats, and not allowing the 1st Class pass holders to occupy the seats. There is no TCs for checking in the train or, at platforms to catch them.Due to it the railway is getting heavy losses as well as 1st class passengers suffer lot.

I, also would like to suggest that add one more train between 05.36 a.m. to 05.55 am to Churchgate as there is 19 minutes gap for next train. The 05.36 train is full with passengers especially ladies compartment ( 1st Class and IInd Class ladies compartment) .The people those who works in and around the Churchgate area in 1st Shift (07.00 am) cant' reach in time. Now early morning lady passengers are more than in the past. So the ladies compartment which is open for gents in the night from 10.30 to 6.30 a.m is to be changed to 11.00 p.m to 05.00 a.m.so that that the same compartment also can be used for ladies.

I hoe you will look into the matter as early as possible and consider my request and oblige.

                      Thanking you,
                      Yours faithfully,

I am often travelling to and fro between coimbatore and tamilnadu in train. I am experiencing constantly with same problem in the day time train (Kovai express and chennai intercity express). The TTR's of the train are allowing the beggars and street vendors inside the train and they are also getting bribe from them,.. Morethan everything, they are letting "inter-sex" people.. they are coming and behaving inside the train in a very bad manner..

                        It should really be stopped......

I am a regular traveller of Shatabdi Exp from Surat to Vadodara.
After addition of more seats in Mumbai-Ahmedabad Shatabdi,Current reservation is stopped at Surat station since last one month.
Booking cleark at current reservation counter suggests pessengers to take a first class ticket and board to Shatabdi and then to pay the difference to T.C
T.C s are not beliving that Surat railway station is not issueing current reservation tickets so they behave badly with the pessengers boarding from Surat

But, it is surprising to note that one berth booke on 7th Sept. 2009 in the afternoon at Bhusawal between 16.18 hrs. to 16.18 hrs. to proceed to Haridwar on 19th Oct.2009 by same trains against PNR Nos.[protected] and[protected] has been alloted confirmed berths in both trains by alloting berth No.12 (LB) in Coach No. S7 in train No.2715 and 33 (LB)in Coach No.S8 in train No.8477. How can it be, unless there exists some error/flaw in the online programme itself ? Will you kindly look in to the problem and eliminate the error under intimation to me, as such error causes inconvenience to consumer, specifically female passangers.

Similerly, on the same date i.e. 07th Sept.2009 nine berths are booked from Bhusawal (Centre Rly. Stn.) between 16.05 and 16.30 hrs. for performing back journey from Haridwar to Bhusawal by train Nos. 4042 and 2716 on 03rd Nov.2009. Thoughn confirmed tickets are issued by alloting Coach No. and berth/seat Nos. but none of the female passangers is alloted lower berth inspite requisition form was filled in to allot lower berths.
Again, it is observed with surprise and pain that in case of confirmed tickets issued from Centre Rly. Station Bhusawal against PNR Nos.[protected] and[protected] to perform journey from Haridwar to Bhusawal by train Nos.4042 on 03rd Nov.2009 and 2716 on 04th Nov.2009, the passanger (Female) has been alloted "LOWER " berth. Why such disparities are could not be followed. Here again above examples gives room to the consumer that in "Railway Reservation system there exists some flaw which allows to the peerson sitting on "Booking window" or "Controlling room" can manipulate the things to his whims.

Please investigate the matter and arrange to eliminate the error from entire net and confirm per return e mail.

How much in first place do you care about the convenience of females?
Have you checked with your conscience first that you have treated all the females(you met or did not meet) properly till date and have not made any anomaly in treatment to them?

Before trying to change the system it will be more useful if we try to change our thoughts and our society first?
The system is just a reflection of our society and the people living in it in general.
Our thoughts and actions should be broad enough to change the system.
Try to Change yourself first before trying to change the system.

If our thoughts are narrow-minded, changing the systems is just an illusion of the betterment of the society. If you mis-treat your family, your loved ones, the females in your family or may be outside it, your thoughts and beliefs are not broad enough and deep rooted in orthodox systems and beliefs, what will this online system do to a greater cause of Indian society;)

Agreed that more and more such consumers should come forward to correct the Indian systems. But I guess it is more and more required that such consumers/people come forward for a general upliftment of the society and some stupid beliefs and orthodox ways of living like dowry systems, harrassment to women, ill-treatment to members of family, society in general, depriving people of choices they make and the life they want to lead, forcing your views/decisions on the family members esp. females etc etc.

How often have you forced your decisions on others? do you ever reflect on such things?
Railways forcing you to take a seat is no big deal..compared to this.
I hope you will agree that Indian society needs more of social/family upliftment first.

Let us strive to make a better society first instead of better systems.

yeah right, people who themselves commit disparities in treatment to others, force their decisions on others/family members etc..DO NOT have the right to speak about flaws in the systems or other people's whims. If pain is what you give others, pain is what you get:).
Very Bad part on the complainant. If you mistreat, give pain to others for anything, you would be deprived of precisely the same thing.Probably, railway man did the right thing.
So here's wishing you all the pain in this world, for all the pain that you have given others.

                              Respected Sir,
We are very unlucky that we live in a region where south-eastern rail official ignore the improvement of our region. Kona is a station in Howrah - Amta route. This section was started since 1984 by Late Gani Khan Chowdhury. Only 6 pairs trains are plying in this route. 4 years ago when this train was up to Bargachia / Mahendralalnagar there was no problem. After 2008 this route was extended up to Amta and no. of passengers using this train go up rapidly. So I appeal to you to increase frequency Amta - Howrah / Shalimar local at least two pairs.
My another question is why Rail do not use the track from Kona to Dankuni. The passengers are waiting for a green signal from rail official when that day come we can travel from Kona to Dankuni or Kona to Dumdum by train. Amta - Howrah local takes 30 minutes from Kona to Howrah as this track is laying via Satragachi and this route is not shortest. If Kona - Dankuni local is availed, we can travel Dankuni by 15 minutes and we can travel Dumdum 35 minutes via Bhattanagar, Joypurbil area. South-eastern railway & Eastern railway can introduce Kharagpur - Dankuni local by which passengers can travel from Medinipur district to Hooghly / Burdwan district easily.
I hope that our respected DRM sir of Kharagpur division will consider my proposal seriously. I am waiting for your kind reply.

Black Diamond Express is very crowd train. Passengers of Bandel can not get seat. Passengers from Naihati & Sealdah zone come to Bandel.
So give us Sealdah - Dhanbad Express train after Black Diamond Express. This train will be same timing.

                                Booking Time: 8:15 AM

I've booked two tickets from RJY to SC station for two elders one of them being more than 60yrs old. Obviously I've preferred lower berths for both of them. The journey date is[protected].The vacancy at the time of reservation was 115. After submitting the form the official at the counter said that they have no lower berths at all and I had to take two upper berths at that time.

But when I checked availability on IRCTC website it is allowing me to book two lower berths and that to in same compartment. Now the time is beyond 10'o clock and still i'm able to book two lower berths in same train for same day for two lower berths.

Does this mean that I need to beg and bribe the official at the counter to book lower berths?

What is the need of such M....F... officials at the reservation counter who has no idea of what problem an elder passenger faces during an overnight journey?

This clearly shows that officials at the reservation counter are involved with private booking agents and sell such berth reservations to them for commission. If not give us the explanation on this.

                                    Dear sir,
One ticket (PNR No. [protected]) was purchased by me (for self and my wife) for journey from Dhanbad to Ernakulam by 3351 Dhanbad Alleppey Express scheduled on 16 May 08. Due to some problem It was not possible for me to undertake the journey and ticket was made cancelled at Dehri-on-some Railway station and TDR (No. 74656) was obtained by me. It was told by TDR making authorities at the station to me that you -will have to make a letter to Chief Commercial Manager (refunds) at Patna for refund of the amount. One letter was made and sent on 08 Jun 08 alongwith the original TDR by Registered Post by me to Chief Commercial Manager (Refunds), Vth floor, Viskoman Tower, Eastern-Central Railway, Patna. But neither the money was refunded to me nor any clarification regarding the subject issued to me. After that I again made another letter and sent to the same addresse by Speed Post (acknwledgement due) on 03 Apr 09. But till now I money has not been refunded to me nor any clarification I received from Chief Commercial Manager Patna office.

Sir, I do have copies of all the documents which I made to Chief Commercal Manager with me (The Registered and speed Post receipts also).

Due to error in system while booking season ticket online page got hanged when checked history it showed 2 transactions of same type.

Tried to speak and communicate the same with IRCTC, but they refuse to reverse the transaction stating its my fault.

any ways the site is always slow, and if they dont have any such option of cancellation, they should atleast have option to avoide duplication

I want aleast the transction charges to be reversed to my account

Pleaes refer to the below mail.
