I would like to report one of the worst rides i had with uber. On 10/12/2017 i took the cab from kempegowda international airport to eletronic city. Now, at the start of the trip the driver (Durai pandian) asks me what the approx amount is. To this i replied with the amount that was showing (607), he said that this was too less and he started speaking about his losses and that his car is uberx and should not have been booked on ubergo. First and foremost this is really unprofessional, the app takes care of this why should driver bother me with this?
The uber fares include tolls and my payment method was paytm. Still the driver forced me to pay rs. 130 cash as airport toll saying my bill is anyways low. When i arrived at my destination my bill was 607 and that amount was deducted from paytm, but as you can see from the attached screenshot another rs. 315 was deducted at 8am, is that a bug in the app or driver didnt end the ride? I have no idea. On raising support requests, i got responses stating the rules o[censored]ber regarding payment methods. Now i would like to ask these questions.
1) how safe is uber when your drivers are rude and nothing can be done once i board the cab? I know the rules but if he forced me to pay the toll should i have got down from the cab with all my luggage? Are the drivers not trained, if yes then why don't they know the rules? Do you have a helpline number to call mid journey in case of such issues? Even after the completion of the trip why can't you first talk to the driver and get information on the whole matter instead of stating the obvious rules to me? I know you cannot track a cash payment on a paytm transaction but you should find a way to track your drivers and their behaviour. This is more a matter of safety becuase once the ride starts we are at the mercy of the driver.
2) regarding the second deduction of 315, firstly it showed 607 as receipt which was correct, then at 8am 315 was deducted and bill was updated but receipt is now showing an error on the app. What happened? I can understand the app having bugs but the response from support team is not at all satisfactory to say the least. I ended up paying more than 1000 for a trip of estimate 607.
Uber India customer support has been notified about the posted complaint.
