People pay attention please, if you dont want to loose large amount of money to zomato please read.
Tldr: zomato is asking people to pay cancellation fee for the order i already paid for and ate. Delivery boys are scamming people and customer care is ful of kinds who do not want to help you one bit.

I have been zomato customer for long time and i order from them here and there, 4 days ago i ordered from hong kong restaurant. The bill was for 690rs
After 30min app showed order is out for delivery, i called the delivery guy and he said its just an error and order is still being prepared. I said ok. Then when the food was still not delivered after 1 hour i called him again, he said still no food, i thought maybe they are taking time to prepare some fresh item (I can empathize with other restaurants as i have run my own restaurant, so i usually dont pressure them to hurry up)
After 1 hour 30 min called again and delivery boy said just got the food from restaurant and he is coming. After reaching my home the guy started rambling about the restaurant being late, i was really loosing my patience as it was hot standing in sun and my food was getting more and more soggy (Golden fried prawns get soggy very fast) i just gave him 700rs and said 10rs is tip keep it. I would have given more if the order was on time.
He gave me food and then to my surprise he asked me to put my phone on airplanne mode, i was like wth? He is so late and now he has audacity to ask me to switch off my phone, he kept requesting me, telling me that he will get paid more, also me and him will get bothered by the customer support. I was so frustrated at that point i just put my phone on airplane mode and showed it to him, he said ok sir now please keep it this way for 10-15min. I did not suspect anything as i was tired and just wanted to eat my food. I just went upstairs and ate the food.
2 days later i was watching a video on youtube about a day in life of zomato delivery guy, there the guy said we get 10rs for every good rating or something like that. I was happy to hear that and so i though let me rate all the orders i have got till now so delivery guys gets extra money.
When i opened my zomato order list to my surprise my order of that day was showing declined, i was confused as i already ate the food and paid for it, then how come it is showing declined? Then i checked the list and some of the orders i already got and paid for were also showing declined. I contacted chat and asked them why was it showing declined when i ate the food, restaurant did not get the food back and i paid for the food? The chat was as helpful as a monkey can be, the guy took 30mins of time to tell me that i will have to pay the cancellation fees as i rejected the order. I was dumbfound, the order was so late, the delivery guy was hell and now i have to pay cancellation fee for an order i already ate and paid for???
I contacted the email support and got the same bot reply from them, but one important thing was exposed during that, the reason for order rejection was that i was unresponsive to delivery boys calls and zomato customer care calls. Thank god i have call logs where i called delivery guy so many times and even when i got the order. But now i understand why that delivery guy asked me to switch off my phone. If you are as polite as me then when a person face to face asks you to do something, you would usually do it even when you do not want to do it. This resulted in me having to pay 700rs for an order i got and i already paid for.
The incompetence of zomato customer care is beyond any measures, simple solution for this was that they could just ask the restaurant if they got the food back. As i got the food it will have not gotten back to restaurant and hence proving my innocence, but no the customer care will send you automated replies asking to pay cancellation charges for an order you already paid for.
700rs is nothing, i would have just paid the amount to them if they had tried to help me instead of asking for money like greedy bastard without any though and without reading my mail even for a second.
My main reason for writing here is that i want everybody to know what kind of scam is going on here, just think if you ordered for a party and bill is around 20000rs, then you pay for the order and next day zomato asks you to pay for that order again as the order shows declined (Even when you got the order and paid for it) what would you do?
Be careful, i have already posted this on many social media platforms and have taken my business to swiggy, i advise you to either be careful or switch to swiggy as when your time comes these so called zomato executives will not help you one bit, they are kids working in call centers just there waiting for the paycheck to arrive. They dont have 1% motivation to help you. Worst customer service i have ever seen and the delivery guy should be in jail for scamming me.
The main problem here is he knows where i live, i am from a good family and if i complain about him and he is of criminal mentality think what he can do?
Will you take the risk? He looked like criminal and was accompanied by other guy, which was unusual as delivery guys are usually alone.
Think before you order next time as you dont know what these guys will trick you into.
Zomato customer support has been notified about the posted complaint.
They took the money but didn't refund it after cancellation.
I have ordered Dosa in Sangeetha restraunt last week and it got cancelled due to some reasons.And it was mentioned that money will gets refunded within 5-7 days in my bank.account.But I hope I haven't received it yet.
Ordered on Jun 15th.
Could you check and confirm me whether it has been refunded or not ?
