I placed this order on zomato at 8.52 pm on 04-05-2.019, but i was not able to use the discount code, and hence i cancelled it within 1 minute of placing it. After i cancelled it, i received a pre set message that your refund will come in 2 days. Later i cross checked, i got another message that the penalty of rs.198.50 has been charged and the rest of the amount shall be refunded. I felt cheated at the overall incidence because of the following reasons -
1. The order amount was rs.198.50 so how can zomato say the rest of the amount shall be refunded.
2. Before processing the cancellation, no warning pop-up was shown on the screen, they claim that they have sent a message on the chat room, but i am quite sure, that was not sent earlier. I find it dubious.
3. Why such a hefty penaly, which is equivalent to 100% order fee, that too when the order was placed and cancelled in the margin of 1 minute?
4. I ask, that should a customer be charged so brutally for an error made by him or her that the entire amount is forfeited, even when the order is not prepared, but only placed.
I need a refund and an apology from zomato.
Since i cancelled my order immediately, i am willing to pay certain amount of penalty for that, but that should be justifiable and not so unreasonable to the amount of 100%.
Zomato customer support has been notified about the posted complaint.
