Inspite of constant complaints no one came to my residence to check my MSEB meter reading and the bill would get generated for 3 years on an average conumption. Finally with rigorous complaint procedure we got the bill created and had to pay arrears to the tune of 1,25,000 for 3 years. We were assured that the problem is now solved but again since last 2 months inspite of constant reminders to the officers in-charge no one has again come to take the meter reading nor the bill has been generated.


I do not understand how to resolve this problem as we are both working and do not have the time to keep going to the MSEB office again and again

    Respected Sir/Madam,

    I (Mr. Nitin Singh) residing at Fat no.9 Rhea Apartment, Aundh road Pune – 4110020.

    Will like to bring my case to your notice -

    Day 1 - On date …….. few MSEB official came to my said address and stopped the power supply and came to flat where my mother (approx age 55 to 60 years) was all alone at home, as at that point of time I was working in Mumbai. She was been told to sign a particular paper which was in Marathi, my mother being illiterate didn’t know what had to be done. She was been threatened by your official that if she didn’t sign he would be put behind the bars. So she signed the paper and they did not give the copy of the same to her and left. That entire night there was no power supply at my residence. My mother is BP patient and she was completely shocked with this incident. She called me and tried to narrate me the incident.

    Day 2- I asked for help from one of friend and asked him to check with the MSEB office about the incident. As to restore power at home was my first priority. I could make it to Pune the same day due to my responsibilities at office. My friend was informed by the Engineer (Mr. Patil) that it’s a theft case and to restore power we will have to pay cash Rs. 54000/- and install new meter. If needed we can file our grievances in consumer court within 2 years to get the money back. Without money please do not talk to us.
    I informed my friend and cousin of mine to make the Demand Draft amount to 48000/- per instruction of the engineer. DD was made and deposited at the office.

    The following weekend (Date………..) I came to Pune and visited the engineer who informed me that our MSEB official were on routine checks and they found my meter is tampered and that it is theft case and as per your rules and i have done a theft of around 48000/- hence unless and until the entire amount is not paid and power would not be restored. He said you can go to any court and file your case. I was in process to file my came for refund.

    They say that i have been stealing the electricity and using it , I FAIL TO UNDERSTAND THAT IF THIS WAS THE ISSUE THEN WHY DIDNT THEY REAKLISE THIS BEFORE AS THEY COME EVERY MONTH TO TAKE READING FOR METER, AL OF A SUDDEN THEY REALISE AND TEHY HARRASE THE CUSTOMER, I AM NOT A SELF EMPLOYEED PEROSON , YOU CAN ASK MY SOICTY PEOPLE THAT THIS IS A STRICKLY RESIDENTIAL AREA AND HENCW WHY WILL I MISSUSE AND THIS CARELESSNESS ON THE PART F MSEB AND THEY JUST HARASSE POOR CUSTOMER.

    My Family has been a victim of this yesterday by MSEB - Pune.
    And I am not sure how to handle this? They are asking us to pay a bill of 70000 INR.
    This is so unethical. MSEB or any govt. authorities just impose things on citizens. Concerned official asked for a BRIBE of Rs 20000 on the spot, when we denied to pay him, he simply made an official Panchnama of 70000 and said its because your meter was tampered & you have to pay it right now to restore the power.
    If there is someone who can help me with this. Please respond.

      Sir,
      Last 6 to 7 month before ,the meter was fualty. Each month I am complainting to Padmavati office after paying the bill.and also submitting the Xerox of paid bill for to attend the fault of meter or to replace the meter.
      The officer and staff on duty were assured me each time but fault is not rectified till today.
      It is requested to take immigiate action to rectified the fault pl. Details of meter and address is as below:

        DEAR SIR/ MADAM,

        I the undersign is the consumer of MSEB, Thane. On 24th August,2010 one phase of our buliding, Akshay CHS in Kalwa, Manisha Nagar,400605 faced power cut off around 6:00 am. We waited for a while thinking its a daily affair. When lights didnt come till 09:00 am we started making calls on[protected]MSEB number). The staff said we will send someone to rectify the defect. We kept waiting.
        After a long wait when again calls were made they repeatedly kept saying the complaint was not registered.My neighbour made a complaint in front of me and to my surprise when i made a call they said the same thing that the complaint was not registered.
        The complaint was kept ignoring till 17:30 in the evening.Moreover one of your intellegent staff who was working in the morning shift requested us not to tell the evening shift staff that we were complaining since morning.
        After 12hours wait lights came at 18:00.
        I am very disappointed with the way your staff works.I would request you to follow up with this issue and take necessary actions.

          From last more than 10 days there are continuous load shading happens for 12 hours in Virar(west) phase-I.
          Most of the power failure happens during night time. During heavy rains in the night there are inconsistencies of power failure which are major nuisance to people.

          Kindly look into this matter as early as possible.
          Please take this on priority and saulve this problem.

            I wanted to share an outrageous experience that I have been going through while dealing with the MSEB here in this area.

            The MSEB meter at my place was dysfunctional for last 8 months. In spite of frequent complaints and application to change the meter, no action was taken and I was charged preposterously high amounts every month.
            I finally threatened the MSEB that I will stop paying the bills unless they change the meter (which did not even have a display, and the amount on the bills was utterly random ranging from 0 Rs to 10000 Rs every month).
            This went on till last month and they finally disconnected the electricity. I went to the MSEB office and showed them the bills and application copies that I had submitted regarding the errors in the billing.

            As done several times before, I again explained them that I can’t pay the bills as they are enormously high and unfair as my meter is dysfunctional since last 8 months and those numbers were random. However, a typical case of redtapism, there was nobody to hear me out and their officer in charge was as usual not in his cabin. I was told that unless I pay the amount, they will not even consider my complaint. I finally managed to convince them to reduce the amount so that I can pay the bill. They reduced it to a partial sum of 4500Rs which I paid immediately. Then they agreed to change the meter and told me that the sum that I have paid will be adjusted once the correct bill comes from the new meter. They did change the meter in couple of days. This happened in last month.

            Now one month later, the new meter gave a bill of 400+ Rs. Considering the average of 400 rs per month, the total bill for these 8 months comes to 3200 Rs. I had already paid 4500 Rs. The MSEB owes me more than a thousand bucks. But look at the way they work, they come in the morning today and disconnect my connection without any notice or informing me. I take a half day leave, like I took last time, I search for the latest bill, it shows me that the due date is August 10th 2010 (today is 5th august 2010) and there is a mention of a note that I owe MSEB 7800 Rs. I am about cross the boundary of sanity but I control myself and commit another crime of visiting the MSEB office.

            This time I am utterly lucky as I find their officer in charge right out of the office. I try to tell him my situation, he completely ignores me and sends me to one of the clerks and disappears somewhere in a car. I explain the whole situation to the clerk. The clerk says that you need to pay the 7800 Rs. I explain him that its not me who owes money to MSEB, it’s the other way round. Then one of them understands it and sends someone to re-connect the connection. I ask them a solution for this recurrent issue. The clerk suggests me to visit his officer in charge. Its 4.00 PM and their officer in charge had already left the office. So he asks me to visit 11 AM tomorrow (I have to take another leave tomorrow). I ask him if this will be sorted out? He replies no, you will have to go to the RAHATANI office once you are done with solving this issue at our end. Apparently the billing section is in RAHATANI and I will have to personally go and request their officer in charge (I don’t think he will be available once I go to their office) to update the same. I ask why cant you do it? He replies, the billing section wont listen to us and this problem will arise next month as well, so its better you go and fix it yourself. I try to point out that its MSEB’s fault and not mine. He agrees to that, but says that’s the way things work here.
            I then call up the officer in charge on his cell phone, who talks to me rudely and asks me how dare I call him on his number??? And hangs up.

            Now, I try searching for the numbers of some superior authority to lodge a complaint , I search all over the net and find some important numbers. I call all of them, but nobody attends them.

            So here I am, who has given extra money to MSEB and whose electricity line might get disconnected any time without any notice and who will have to take leaves and spend time requesting the MSEB to clean their own mess.

            In the mean time, I came to know that there are several people in this area who are facing the same problem. There are people who in spite of paying bills face disconnection and have to take Xerox of their paid bills and write applications and submit to RAHATANI office (which is quite far from Old Sangvi) to get the reconnection. The staff in the MSEB is utterly rude and they don’t give a damn about customers. The officer in charge is a vagabond who gets paid for roaming around and not for providing solutions to customer problems. The most unfortunate thing is that there is no one to go to for justice.


            I don’t know if Pune Mirror can help in this matter considering your priorities. However, I would sincerely request to check the situation here in MSEB offices once. You will find a scandalous and outrageous story. Keeping my fingers crossed.

              Problem with MSEB services they have planned for load sharing of power for 2hrs in a day and every Friday for 16hrs.

              other then this everyday there is power failure and there is nobody to answer at sub-station when we call the incharge,he never answer properly.

              Day by day service is getting pathetic and no one want to take their responsibility.

              if anyone know where to complaint regarding this people please let me know

                illegal use on electricity
                hi i am kiran from byculla , mumbai 400010, . i want to complain about illegal neighbour in building ( mr. Ramnath Sheramkar is using electricity illegally by connecting wires directly to the meter rooms. they conect the wire in the evening till morning they use the electricity in the same manner.
                He is also using electricity for ironing ,light,fan, electrical work,
                allredy some electricity diparment workers are come there & remove there illegal wires from cabin, but after they going then some people are connect again, again some people connect wires, but not any one doing seriusly that problem, please take some action as soon as possible

                  We have noticed that in Ravet though we pay high corporation taxes but yet we dont get any facility which are basic and must for anybody.
                  Regarding MSEB we have noticed that here most of the time the power is very low and that too with high fluctuation. Our mostly expensive house hold electrical things get damaged due to this and as we are running a small scale industry in Ravet...

                  MSEB had sent an electricity bill of 86000 for the month of April 10. Please note that I have been paying my electricity bills on time from last so many years. I tried contacting MSEB Pune guys for this discrepancy but not one is taking any action on this.

                        i am registering this complaint from people of pusad taluka located in yavatmal dist in maharashtra. sir we are suffering from excessive load shedding in our city the power cut is at any time of the day or night and also there is no limitation on amout of power cut, they cut the poewr for 6-15 hrs a day under the name of zero load shedding nither do they response to the complaints or fhone calls of people , students are suffering a lot they do not know when to study as there is immense power cut at night as well , the bussiness and general life is also affecting greatly and no authority is doing anything.
                        so it is requested to please look into the mater and obliged us by taking the due action

                        Sir, I am in yavatmal, have been struggling hard for electircity, the mseb has got the worst services, and this not my feedback but this stands from many of the people leaving here, today its 12:00 am midnight we are with no power. How can people live with such worst situation, whom do we complain there is no complaint number no one listen. Pls help.

                        I atleast hope to receive some action on this.

                          There are frequent cut in power supply to my area in nallasopara no im not talking about load shedding but the regular time and even in night and the worst part is my house no is 102 (same with room no101)and the remaining 14 houses in my floor has lights on when asked abt it they say Our connection is from different phase think of it how will one feel when 2 houses dont have light and remaining 14 has it in the same floor its like we have done some sin and we are getting punished my consumer no is[protected] so please im pleading with the concerned person to look after my problem change the phase similar to those of my floors houses my email id [protected]@gmail.com

                          Mahavitran — Frequent power cuts

                          i m residing at Samel Pada, Umrale area ,Nalasopara. We are fed up with frequent power cuts for more than 12-14 hours many a times, continuously.

                          Today also there was power cut since 4.30 in the morning, it came at 8.30 and againt went off at 10.00, again came at 4 pm for half an hour , again went at 4.30, came at 6.45, went at 8, came at 10 pm. many a times, there is no power for more than 3-4 hours during night also.

                          What nonsense it is !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Any time during the day, as well as night, there are frequent power cut.

                          We tried to call at MAHAVITRAN's office, it was just ringing whole day, at last somebody picked phone at 8.15 pm, they were arguing , this is not their area, call on this no and that no etc........................


                          Nobody is bothered to attend the complaint too......... local Nagarsevak is also doing nothing in this issue

                          please look into this and resolve the issues , at least we can sleep peacefully in night.
                          v r getting frequent problems in power supply. Its being a practice now, almost for 12-14 hours a day, power supply is not there. Nobody bothered to complaint too...nor nobody is answerable to public. WE ARE SUFFERING DUE TO THIS. Thorugh out the year same problem occurs. At least they should not cut the power in night...there is no timing for power cut. anytime they cut power for long time ...many times for more than 12 hours too continuously ????????????????????/

                          how do we survive, and i think we r having major problem in Samel Pada, Nalasopara area, as compare to other
                          despite having frequent power cuts for more than 13-14 hours day, we are getting high electricity bills every month. There is no change in bill amount. ????

                          At the time in Nala Sopara there is no timelimit for power cut (loadshedding), i think this is loadsheding free division.but in my area call don lane, achole road (N.Sopara east)we get only few hour power

                          I cleared to you that I have been charged extra 29 units (i.e 503 - 474).
                          My February moth's meter reading came 3724, so I have used the 78 units
                          for the month of Feb-15 (i.e.[protected]. That means I will have to charged

                          higher than the amount which will have charged for the used o[censored]nits 49.

                          I received the
                          another bill for the month of March 15 of amount Rs. 890 with indicating
                          the Arrears of RS. 408.

                          How this amount 408 comes? I want
                          the bifurcation for the same. From my side It should be at
                          the minus side, because I already paid the excessive amount to the MSEB.


                          I hope that this time you will take necessary action & resolved my problem

                            Dear Sir,

                            We are members of 33A, Riverwood Park, Atharva CHS, Khidkali, Kalyan-Shil Road.

                            Our buildings common electiricity supply is under dispute for over last two years. Our Ex- Secretary Mr. Ganesh M. Pawar, has mis-used the powers and not paid the Common Electricity Bills to MSEDCL since inception 2005, though he used to collect the regular maintenance from members. We members trusted this culprit and never investigated the fact. As he used to always boost himself by saying, he is having good contacts in MSEDCL service staff in khidkali. Because of this he used to manage them, without paying the electricity bill. The MSEDCL never disconnected the supply upto 2008. post which the disconnection started frequently by MSEDCL, but then too this used to be restored within a day or two on his instruction as understood.

                            Now we have paid the electricity bill and regularised for 3 phase meter, but the 1phase meter is pending, and the connection is disconnected by MSEDCL. But Mr. Ganesh Pawar is restoring the connection without informing/knowledge of MSEDCL service staff/ Members of Society.

                            Request concerned official to look into the same on priority. We have requested the MSEDCL staff to disconnect the Meter itself so such kind of theft wont happen.

                              We are facing lots of problem because of sudden power failure in aundh gaon. Some time it goes for more than 24 hours. On 12 July -2010 it was for more then four hours in night. In the month of june once it was for 2 days continuously. And if we call at the branch the phone is always busy.

                                I m Nawaz kazi, I work as a senior Techniacal Specialis in one of the renowned company in mumbai. I stay at mumbra Amrutnagar. Its like been hell staying in mumbra due to electricity problem in mumbra . Even after rain loadshading is for 8 hours i.e morning 6am to 10.30 am and 2.25 pm to 6.30 pm. Beyond this also there is frequently power cutt even after the load shading.

                                I have just gone through many forums on these website itself regarding power cut for mumbra and kausa loation. But still hoping for the best

                                  Outragious frequent power cuts in my locality.

                                  Pls see the attached picture where I have recorded the daily power cut status.

                                  These recordings are only for 3 days, this is a everyday business in my locality.

                                  MSEB after charging exoritant averaged electricity bills, provides sub standard services. To whom can a compliant be made about this sub-standard service?

                                  After paying heavy ecectricity bills do the consumers have the right to quality service or not?

                                    Team,

                                    Resident of Mumbra is facing tremendous problem because of electric power cuts or power transformer failure in the various part of city. This is directly effecting the daily life, development of kids, schools, colleges and business in the city. We fail to understand the very good reason for the MSEB to have power cuts of more than 8-10 hrs on regular basis and at times they have power cuts for entire day.

                                    Is this the 20th century we are living in? Are there no good metrics or measurement system in place in department to measure and improve the MSEB service in the area. We understand there might be few key pain areas MSEB must have to address in city, but why can't the MSEB work out alternatives and regularize the service?

                                    Are there any senior management team looking in this ?

                                    Please help and let people be a good samaritan and have us make India a proud country to live in.

                                      myself navaneetham.jeyepaul n im working for 10000p.m salary and i used live in 1 hall and kitchen room i do have very less appliances at my home but my problem is my electricity bill which in december 09 was aroundly 400p.m then it increased to 600 then in jan 09 it was 900 then in feb it was 1100 then 1200 in march then 1400 in april then in may it reached to 1600 and now in june 2010 it is 2200.rs for 1 hall and kitchen room im so afraid to their limit....
                                      so please help me out in this case plese take action against MSEB !
                                      i will b gratefull for any assist.
