gold earring — want to find the culprit

Hi,
I would tell the incident and please help me to find the thief.
On Aug 6th -Monday we called 24/7 ELECTRICAL SERVICES person for some electrical fittings and repairs. Two persons reached by 9:30 am in the morning. Myself and my husband were there at home. Actually the work is carried out @our bedroom. My first Mistake is that i have kept my chain ,a set of bangles and a set of earings on the table of my bedroom ,as we r only there and i forgot to keep them safely when those persons came.they came and finished their work and also my maid came and she cleaned the room and so on.Only in the evening i found that only my earrings r missing and we doubted on the persons who came and gave them a call.They came and told that they saw only the chain and Bangles and not the earring.they asked who else came and we told our maid then they told to en quire her.We did so she told she did not do so.she works for 3yrs in our house and no such events have happen before.then we told we will go to police and asked them, to come a day later bcos we gave time for them to hand us our property,Since no one turned out we told we'll tell police and they will find the real person.so we asked them to come by 9:am this morning(8th)the service persons came sharp @9:00 and were waiting outside.we were also waiting for the maid.Since she has not arrived on time we doubted her then we told we'll carry on and give a complaint.but those persons told we'll wait for her and together we'll reach police station.then after few min they called us from inside and showed the earrings and asked us if it was ours.Then we saw them and it was mine exactly.each one thrown in one place.anyway one item is missing.those persons exactly located them and told that someone must have put it outside.
Now please help me to find the culprit.Is it either the chief or that boy who came with him or my maid.i just want to know where is the other piece since it may cost around[protected]..Pls help me in finding out as the thief is very stubborn and tells they r ready to meet the en query.Looking for the right guidance without any bribe.
